The exact definition for the internet is : a 
global computer network providing a variety 
of information and communication facilities, 
consisting of interconnected networks using 
standardized communication protocols.
Domain names and IP addresses 
Domain Registrars use a Domain Name to 
translates a user friendly domain name, 
such as “example.com”, into an IP 
address. Domain names work because 
they provide computer users with a short 
name that is easy to remember and then 
it turns into an IP address.
Data packets and packet switching 
Packet switching breaks data files into 
small packets to send them across the 
internet. A data packet is a unit of date 
made into a packet that travels through 
the network and these packets are used 
in IP that navigates the Web.
The function of routers 
The main function of a router is to connect 
networks together and keep certain kinds 
of broadcast traffic under control and a 
router is what gives us Wi-Fi.
