2. Domain Names and IP Addresses
IP address are a certain number sequence or
code that is unique to a certain network or device.
To make these address easier to remember, we
use web address or Domain names such as
www.google.com and www.youtube.com instead.
These domain names when searched send the IP
address into a server which then displays the
belonging to that IP address.
3. Packets and Packet switching
Packet switching is changing piece of code and
files into chunks and packets so it is easier and
quicker when travelling around a network.
Packets are pieces of data that when connected
together create a file or document. They are
made by splitting the file so it can get across a
network easier.
4. Routers
A router is similar to an airport terminal and
packets being aeroplane.
It transfers and receives packets from the
network and then allows them to be reformed into
actual files and data.
It also has to find and pick the best routes for the
packets and chunks so they get there quickly.
