New research on consumer experiences also emphasizes the importance of embodiment. Pham et al.
(2001), for instance, state that consumer assessments are often based on both feelings and reason
and that one or the other becomes more prominent depending on the context. They argue that
feelings play a central role in consumer decision making and merit serious investigation, which, for
this study, means that intertwining mind and body is crucial for creating an unforgettable
consumer experience. The effort afoot to restore embodied realism to social scientific inquiry
(Johnson 1999; Lakoff and Johnson 1999) has generated some of the most exciting research into
consumer behavior. In this article, we address the links between embodiment and consumer
experiences in order to elucidate the contours of the aesthetic experience not just the process of
thinking bodily but how the body affects the logic of our thinking about art. With this goal in mind,
we revisit Kant s question in order to explore art museum experiences the simultaneity with which
people see, hear, feel, taste, and smell art. We believe, along with Lakoff and Johnson (1999), that

Romanticism, Realism and Local Color in The Awakening
Kate Chopin is an author who was born in 1851 and died in 1904. Her father died when she was
young, and her husband died when she was thirty one leaving her with six children. Due to this, she
had little male influence throughout her life. This may possibly be why she had so little inhibition
when writing her novels. She seemed to concentrate on the oppression of women and presented
socially unacceptable ideas at the time of their publication. Although Kate Chopin stirred up great
controversy in her time, today her novels, short stories, and poems are often regarded as great
literary works that incorporate bold concepts, grim social realities, ... Show more content on

need for freedom from the ties of life that hold her down and also her need for individuality. One
way she defies society is by leaving her home on Tuesdays, which are designated by Creole
tradition as stay at home and greet guests days. On several Tuesdays, Edna leaves home to walk
about town leaving her guests and husband disappointed. She searches to be an individual and not
conform to the standards of society. As written in the novel, She had all her life long been
accustomed to harbor thoughts and emotions which never voice themselves. They had never taken
the form of struggles. They belonged to her and were her own, and she entertained the conviction
that she had a right to them and that they concerned no one but herself. Edna had once told
Madame Ratignolle that she would never sacrifice herself for her children, or for any one (79).
Another example of Romanticism can be found in the way society treats life at the time. They are
oblivious, especially the women, to the limits of their lifestyle. The society present in The
Awakeningpaints a picture where they only see beautiful, vibrant colors. However, as Edna soon
finds out, paint does not stay beautiful forever. Edna begins to see the layers of paint peeling and
chipping off to reveal the grays and blacks hidden beneath.
As the story unravels, the reader

Malvolio Twelfth Night
The role of Malvolio in Twelfth Night is, generally, being the target of Sir Toby, Sir Andrew and
Maria s pranks and foolishness. At the beginning of the play, he is very easy to find intolerable, due
to his killjoy like behaviour and vanity. However, by the end of the play, the audience mostly feel
sorry for him, because of the malicious way that Sir Toby and others treat Malvolio. Despite this,
Malvolio is one of the main sources of comedy, due to his gullibility and, as some say, his
foolishness . My argument is that Sir Toby, Sir Andrew and Maria are the real fools of Twelfth
Night Sir Toby in particular. Fool a person who acts unwisely or imprudently; a silly person. My
first point is Sir Toby, Sir Andrew and Maria are the real fools of Twelfth Night, since they create
the foolishness, while Malvolio is simply a victim of their foolish behaviour. This foolish behaviour
is the pranks that Sir Toby and others pull and Malvolio is a victim of it since he is the victim of
all their pranks. For example, Sir Toby, Sir Andrew and Maria forged a love letter from Olivia,
addressed to M, O, A, I (Malvolio). In this letter, Olivia says Remember who commended thy
yellow stockings, and wished to see thee ever cross gartered . Malvolio falls for this and wears
cross gartered yellow stockings. Another display of their pranks is when Sir Toby, Sir Andrew,
Maria and Fabian tie Malvolio up in a dark room Come, we ll have him in a dark room and... Show

Additionally, Sir Toby and Sir Andrew are constantly drunk, which makes them act unwise and
foolish throughout the whole play. Also, Malvolio takes himself seriously and isn t aware of what
other people think of him, but a fool would want other people to laugh and them and will
purposefully say silly things. Therefore, Malvolio is not the real fool of Twelfth Night and Sir

Chapter 7 Of Outliers By Gwen Gladwell
Gladwell begins the chapter by narrating the crash of Korean Air flight 80. The plane was in
good condition and so was the weather; but tragedy ends up slamming into the side of a
mountain. Gladwell explains that plane crashes are rare, and in Chapter 7 of Outliers, he wants
the reader to know how and why these pilots have been failing to land planes. Consequently,
Gladwell begins to explain how Korean Air turned itself around, and he discusses how important it
is to address cultural differences and legacies. Crashes are rare, and most of the time are
consequences of many unrelated factors. Many believe that airplane crashes are the cause of bad
piloting or harsh weather; but other factors are overlooked. Suren Ratwatte have been studying

The Negative Impacts Of Violent Video Games
The negative impacts that are associated with violent gaming are a growing list. These many
negative effects could build up into a more serious situation, with all of the possible outcomes of
these side effects mixing together it could quite possibly take a turn for the worse. The use of
violent video games could cause players to participate in criminal violence, because of the increased
levels of aggressionand rage. NBC News reported of a gory incident in January of 2013, which
involved Nehemiah Griego and his murderous actions toward his parents and three of his
siblings in his home. The fifteen year old boy killed his family because he had been angry with
his mother in the days before the murders. When questioned about his family, the boy was
emotionless, but immediately after the investigators asked what his interests were, his face lit
up and he immediately began reminiscing about his favorite video games, Call of Duty: Modern
Warfare, and Grand Theft Auto (2013). Common sense media explains the game, Call of Duty:
Modern Warfare 3, with a vivid description; a bloody military shooting game with disturbing
cinematic moments (n.d.). Could Griego s avid gaming schedule, and love for the bloody first
person shooting game be slightly related to his urge to kill (2013b)? His decision to kill all the
occupants of his house did not solely result from one night of gaming, for it was an accumulation
of risk factors. It is likely that his love for gaming could have had an

The piece begins with sopranos without organ introduction (only later DvoЕ™ГЎk added two bars
of introduction in the orchestra version). The musical structure is mainly polyphonic, in which
every voice at one time or another presents the theme and no voice is limited to the role of mere

The rhythm of this section also lends a sense of sincerity and anxiety to the words Christ, have
mercy, while the ascending entrances (tenor, bass, alto, soprano) in measures 73 77 intensify the
emotional impact.
Christe eleison begins in the key of G minor, the subdominant minor of the principal key of the

The first fourteen measures are assigned for soloists.
In measures 78 80, DvoЕ™ГЎk appears to be preparing to end the section, but when the soprano

Being An American Man Essay
Philippines it was never below 75 degrees and the humidity was always almost at 100 making
working in outdoor regions physically and emotionally draining. It was so hot the air
conditioners would freeze up and we would have to wait for them to thaw again. After being
apart for 6 months, my wife was able to come to the Philippines also. We moved into a small
apartment off base and in order for protection, we had a German Shepard dog. This pet was
trained to attack Philippine people. We needed protection because where we were located,
American women were safe, but they didn t like American males. American women could go
wherever the pleased but American men had strict rules to follow. One day, it was lightning and
thundering out and in our apartment building base we took Patsy, our protective German Shepard
on a walk. The thunder scared Patsy which made her take off for home as fast as she possible
could run. When we got to our apartment again there was a Philippine guard standing next to Patsy.

Religious Hypocrisy In Tartuffe And Candide
Religious Hypocrisy in Tartuffe and Candide Religion in society has often been a tough pill to
swallow for everyone. Dating back to the 17th and 18th century authors, like Moliere and
Voltaire, often express their views on social issues with an outstanding play. Tartuffe, Moliere s
play, and Candide, Voltaire s play, both deal with the issue of religion in society. Tartuffe is
written as a comedy in which satirizes religious hypocrisy. It was wrote it about the views of the
bourgeois class towards religion in France. Almost a century later, Voltaire writes Candide a
satirical tale which condemns the clergy s hypocrisy in 18th century Europe. Moliere creates the
character Tartuffe to show the readers the hypocrisy hidden within christian standards. In Act 3,
Tartuffe explains to Dorine how unladylike she is being and tells her to cover that bosom and...

Moliere uses the character Cleante to express his raw feelings about religious hypocrisy. Cleante
is considered to be the voice of reason in Tartuffe. Voltaire criticizes religious hypocrisy
differently than Moliere. Moliere used one single person to be hypocritical religion. Voltaire
chastises the entire religious assembly. Voltaire had the idea that the entire the clergy of the was
completely hypocritical. The clergy instructs the people of the catholic church to follow a set of
rules and regulations. If any one broke any one of the rules there were serious consequences.
However, Clergy members chose not to follow their own rules. Voltaire express this hypocrisy by

philosophical views. Dr. Pangloss was hanged by the clergy, however, the clergy is not punished for

The Debate On The Issue Of Poverty
JUDGEMENT FRAMEWORK
Poverty is a complex issue that has always been around, but has been a growing concern over
time. Holding a debate on the issue of poverty, is one that can easily go awry due to it s
complexity and emotional aspects. In order to evaluate the debate, both teams need to fully
understand the proposal and clearly articulate their stance.
The debate teams need to be able to clearly explain their position, refute the opponent s argument,
provide solutions, provide a stimulating counter examination, and effectively answer questions
from the judges. Other logistical aspects of the debate that will be judged on is the ability to
efficiently use time and allocate it between team members, as well as refraining from interrupting
other debates and keeping an appropriate volume and demeanor.
There are various general questions that will be utilized in my evaluation of the debate. Did the
teams address what poverty is, how people become poor and remain poor, explain why it s the
individual or society s fault, why we haven t been able to dramatically keep poverty low, why
current efforts are not working, and what new solutions should be utilized?
I expect both teams to utilize support for their arguments from outside sources and from the
readings. My general expectations for the arguments by both teams is to not only clearly explain
their proposed arguments, but to also

The Effects Of Child Labor On The Chocolate Industry
The Effects of Child Labor in the Chocolate Industry: December 6, 2015, was an important day for
many Americans, as it marked the 150th year since the abolishment of slavery when the U.S.
authorized the 13th Amendment to the Constitution to end what can be described as the darkest
chapter of American history. Many in Western Society seem to be unaware of the contemporary
slavery still plaguing many developing countries, particularly involving children. The 2010
documentary film called The Dark Side of Chocolate explored the modern day slavery that is
occurring within many West African countries, where children are being exploited and trafficked in
order to harvest chocolate. In fact, the United States Department of State estimates that
approximately 109,000 children in the Ivory Coast s cocoa industry work under the worst forms of
child labor (Mustapha, 2010, p.3).
By exploring the use of child labor in the chocolate industry in West Africa, this paper will present
the argument where I will argue that the unethical use of child labor has led to impoverished
families, negative health impacts among children, and has affected economies in West Africa. In
order to overcome this situation, there is a need for enforced policies, government action, and
corporations taking accountability in order to put an end to child labor. The first part of the paper
will discuss how the cocoa industry affects families, the health of child laborers, and the economy,
followed by various

Siddhartha Gautama s Life And Spiritual Religion
Siddhartha Gautama s Life Spiritual religion is one of the main aspects of human civilization.
Buddhism is one of four religions that have the most followers besides Christianity, Judaism,

Buddhism. His life has a great influence on this religious belief. Siddhartha s Birth Siddhartha
Gautama was born as the royal prince at Lumini (a place in Nepal now) in 6th century B.C.E.
His father was the king of a clan named Shakyas named Shuddhodana Gautama, and his mother

went out to share food and clothes for the poverty people. After returning to the palace, the Queen
had the dream that the white elephant descended from heaven and entered into her womb. After
that, the Queen got pregnant. When she was giving birth of the child, she did not experience the
pain. It was a miracle birth. The Hindu gods and godless came and blessed the child, and they
took him from the side of the queen ( About Buddha. ). The baby stood up right after the delivery
and he walked seven steps into four directions. He had the birthmark of a wheel or chakra at the
bottom of his feet. Queen May died seven days after of Siddhartha birth. After that, Siddhartha was
taken care by his mother s sister. As the practice of all near East civilization, the king invited the

Unlike our predecessors, the society is now affected by a manifold of dynamics which affect the
ways of life and the living standards of people. The change of society has created the need for
citizens to be more reliant on the politics of their country, the social conditions of the country, as
well as the economic prosperity that may affect where they live. In this report, the living
standards of citizens in different countries will be analyzed and shown. From observing the
several countries in the world, an analysis will be made to discover what makes the living
standards of one country higher than another. Several organizations are already performing this

Strategic Marketing Principles
Strategic Marketing Principles
Introduction
Being strategic when spending marketing dollars is important for any company regardless of
size. A business, for this case British Airways, can only be as successful as its marketing
initiatives. A company is said to be market driven when it is focused on the market that it is in
and the customers who define that market (Buggie, 1993). Sometimes a company will examine
the overall market they are in and try to redefine it so that they can cover a niche. British
Airways is trying to focus its drive in its market so that customers look to the company as the
leading premier air carrier. In order for the company to do this, they have to alter long held
perceptions by changing the way that they do business. British Airways has started doing this by
employing two distinct methodologies. First British Airways merged with Iberia which gives
them a wider customer base, and they formed alliances with other national carriers such as Qantas
and American Airlines. The company also needed to have a look that bespoke luxury, so they have
also upgraded their facilities in the airports they serve (specifically Heathrow). The purpose of this
paper is to examine the effectiveness of British Airways plans to expand their business and improve
their services through a strategic marketing analysis.
Background
British Airways became an organized airline in 1971 (British Airways, 2011). Through the years

Work Study In Construction Essay
1.1 General
Construction labour productivity has become big problem in construction industry. In many
countries, labour cost comprises 30 to 50% of the overall project s cost (Yates and Guhathakurta,
1993), and thus is regarded as a true reflection of the economic success. Because construction is
labour intensive industry, significance of this effect not only justifies the concern over its labour
productivity, but it can also be argued that labour power is the only productive resource.
There are many challenges that are faced by construction industry in India, but one of the important
challenges is labour productivity in construction. Every project has some difficulty in construction

The Fear Of Glossophobia
If speaking in front of a massive crowd terrifies you, you are not alone. Glossophobia or in
layman s term, fear of public speaking is strikingly prevalent. In fact, 75% of the world s
population has some degree of anxiety when it comes to speaking in public. Even prominent

Othering In The Stranger
According to sociologists, othering is how individual s view or treat (a person or group of people)
as intrinsically different from and alien to oneself. In other terms, the idea of otherness is mainly
used for sociologically based analyses of how majority and minority identities are constructed.
According to The Strangerby Albert Camusand The Meursault Investigation by Kamel Daoud, both
authors inscribe the idea of othering in their pieces of literature unintentionally. The protagonists of
both novels come from distinct backgrounds and therefore, we witness a cultural clash amongst the
protagonist s beliefs and the societies they live in. This is especially confirmed because the
representation of different groups within any given society... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Both protagonists gave up on finding the purpose to their lives and began living animalistically
thinking primitively instead of cognitively. The effects of social pressure and othering also force
the protagonists to live by the existential philosophy which means they lack a sense of emotion and
interaction amongst other individuals. Meursault and Harun both state that they feel little to any
remorse after killing an innocent individual. The explanation for this is because they have the
mentality that shit just happens and there does not necessarily need to be a reason for it.
The philosophy of othering has extremely negative effects on society and the people in it. It
forces the idea of one group being better than the other. The sense of nationalism tied with
othering causes others to feel as though they do not belong or causes people to have too much
pride in themselves. We see being a part of either part if the spectrum only leads to chaos and

Howard Zinn Critique
A People s History of the United States written by Howard Zinn is exactly what the title says,
from a socialist point of view. Written like Zinn has done his research, he makes an arguable case
on the United States history from his standpoint. Viewing the United States history from a new
perspective is the goal of this book, one not everyone will enjoy. Zinn is rather harsh on some
figures and eras in the United Stateshistory, such as slavery, Native Americans, and corporations.
Overall I d say the book has a very depressing tone that makes you really question our country s
actions. Open mindedness is the key to enjoying this book while reading, with Zinn being anti
government and with myself only ever being taught out of government funded textbooks there
some collision to beliefs.
Writing a book with an uncommonly taught perspective, Zinn tried to verify his take on U.S
history. There are inserts from various documents, such as diaries, ledgers, and newspapers used as
supporting documents to his claim, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Was World War II the people s war, or the manufacturer s? That s the question Zinn bases this
chapter on. Bringing in facts about the U.S entering multiple countries and intervening before the
U.S declared war, he challenges the motivation behind U.S involvement in the war. One of these
intervening being Vladivostok, Russia, with seven thousand troops, offsetting the effects of the
Bolshevik revolution in Russia as told by the U.S state department. Zinn conveys it as we didn t
enter the war as a concern for the people fighting it or being hurt by the Nazi party, any more
than how we didn t enter the Civil War off the number of enslaved blacks. Rather, we entered
because of the Japanese bombing and Roosevelt lied about it being the right cause. Challenging
the reader, Zinn makes him or her ask themselves if we really are such a self centered country and
leaves it to them to find the answer that

A Brief Look at Robert Browning
An English poet named Robert Browning who was born on May 7, 1812 in England. Robert
Browning had extremely dramatic monologues, which later in life portrayed him as one of the
best Victorian poets in the world. His father who worked as a bank clerk and mother who was a
pianist, both collected books and pictures. Porphyria s Lover and Soliloquy of the Spanish Cloister
are one of his best examples expressing his dramatic monologues and verses.
At the age of fourteen Robert Browning already knew French, Greek, Italian, and Latin, four of the
major language spoken in today s world. Later in life Robert Browning became and atheist and
vegetarian following the famous romantic poet, Percy Bysshe Shelley. Browning never showed any
enthusiasm toward school or school life. He later dropped out of school and studied books in his
dad s library, where he later discovered his true love for poetry, and wanting to become a writer.
Learning how to be very musical from his mother helped him composes a few songs that his dad
sponsored. Robert never listened to his parent s advice and them wanting him to follow a formal
and regular life and job, denying their wishes Robert became the poet he always wanted to be.
Browning lived at home until the age of 34 depending on his mother and father to support him,
until he later married. In 1833, Robert Browning published his first major work which he did with
nobody knowing it was called Pauline.

An Analysis Of Susanna Wheatley s Poetry
Both female poets choose to use the first person, implying that the I connotates a personal
sentiment for the author and reader. In Wheatley s case, it is made clear to the reader through a
footnote that the poem is in fact about her as it states, [it] commemorates Wheatley s transatlantic
voyage to London (Wheatley 1020). In this poem, the reader is given a direct image of departure.
Wheatley travels from Boston to London in order to publish her poems as well as maintain her
health. Moreover, to further point out Wheatley is the intended I , the poem is dedicated to her
mistress Susanna Wheatley who is mentioned in the poem. Her poem uses the first person to not
only show she is the subject of the poem, but to narrate her feelings on her travel experience....

In consideration of the historical context, it can be interpreted that this I is in fact Prince Albert
talking to both Great Britain and his wife, Queen Victoria. Unlike Wheatley s poem which focuses
on travel, Remember possesses a language of longing by writing intimate moments such as
[holding] me by the hand (Rossetti 554, 3). To further prove that this poem contains romantic
undertones, it should be noted that Remember is a Petrarchan sonnet, containing fourteen lines
and a volta, known for focusing on courtship or love. The feeling of longing produced in her
poem suggests Rossetti uses Albert s voice to reach out to the Queen to help her cope with her
loss. Rather than using the first person to be the subject of the poem, Rossetti chooses the style to
further apply a personal connection with her readers (and most importantly Queen Victoria). The
use of first person for both poets, though differently used, identifies with the core belief of an I

Afghanist The Struggle Of The Taliban
Afghanistan is a very unstable country. It struggles socially, economically and politically. A big
reason why they struggle is the Taliban taking over their country and not letting them have their
freedom. The Taliban doesn t let women go outside without covering their faces with a burqa and
without a male escort. There are many other reasons but I believe that Afghanistanstruggles so much
because of lack of education and having an unstable government.
Afghanistan has struggled so much socially because of their lack of education. After the Soviets

Analysis Of The Movie Stranger By Harold Crick
Harold Crick is an IRS auditor who lives an extremely predictable lifestyle dictated by routine
and numbers. In the beginning of the film Stranger than Fiction Harold is depicted as boring,
routine, and shows signs of having Obsessive Compulsive Disorder with his endless counting of
everything he sees. He lives his life to the minimum as he has no wife, social life, no real friends,
and in fact, his wristwatch seems to be his only friend as he depends on timing everything down
to the second, to save time. Harold continues to live every day just like the last, simply slaving
through the rest of the workweek, until he hears a mysterious voice, an omniscient voice,
narrating his every move day in and out. Karen Eiffel Kay is an esteemed novelist known for
writing amazing tragedies. She has been working on her latest work but is suffering from writer s
block, and can t figure out how exactly she wants to kill her main character, Harold Crick. During
her narrations she announces Harold s sudden imminent death, and he hears this with an
overwhelming fear of what this means for him. The sudden imminent death creates an issue of time
sensitivity for Harold, and is a huge part of Stranger than Fictions theme. Harold was completely
content with his mundane life full of routine based tasks all programmed by his wristwatch. The
issue of when he will die is a huge motivator for both Harold and Karen as she needs to find that

Dr. Seuss Instruments
The synopsis of the process of the Dr. Seuss theme instrument. The design of our project was
based upon the instruments seen in the Dr. Seuss novels. The instrument is multi colored and
similar to the color scheme found on the cover of the book, Oh, the Places You ll Go. The shape
and unique structure are also attributed to many distinctive instruments found in Dr. Seuss
stories. We decided to have two mouthpieces available, so two people can play the instrument at
the same time and the overall structure characterizes the disproportionate instruments seen in
the books. Going with the theme, the sound created is also very interesting. When assembling
the instrument, we had stuck wax paper between the parts of the pipe, creating a kazoo like
sound. We had chosen to use PVC pipes in order to lock in the sound, leaving no air to escape,
and funnels in order to amplify the sound being given off. Before our final design, there had
happened to be another idea we were going for. The design had included a chamber that would
contain soft air gun pellets or bb gun pellets that were capped off by 3D printed discs, covering
each end of the side chambers. These discs would have holes that would allow air to enter the
chamber, move the pellets around and create a rattle sound... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

The Crying Of Lot 49 By Thomas Pynchon

Thomas Pynchon was born on May 8, 1937. He studied engineering physics and English at Cornell
University before taking a job as an engineering aide with the aircraft manufacturer Boeing in 1960.
The Crying of Lot 49, his second novel, was published in 1966 amid America s counterculture
movement. The novel s protagonist, Oedipa, attempts to reinstall some sense of order to her life
and to the increasingly disordered American mainstream by doggedly pursuing a conspiracy. Her
efforts ultimately prove futile, as America, and by extension the universe, continues to careen
towards its fate a state of complete chaos.

Question 1: Explain the theoretical rationale for the NPV approach to investment appraisal and

This first section of this paper will provide a brief explanation on theoretical rationale for the net
present value (NPV) method of investment appraisal and then compare its strengths and
weaknesses to two alternative methods of investment appraisal, those of internal rate of return

Theoretical rationale for the NPV approach

G is also happy to invest because they can borrow against the future payoff of the investment. By
investing G gets ВЈ20,000 more to spend today (ВЈ200,000 less ВЈ180,000). It would pay for either
investor to borrow to invest in the opportunity due to the returns on offer.
Despite the reality of known imperfections in capital markets (e.g. taxation, transaction costs,
asymmetric information), overall the use of NPV makes sense as a corporate objective. Certain
imperfections can be modelled into financials, providing a more realistic picture. Brealey et al
(2008) state that the use of NPV for uncertain cash flows makes sense too, providing there is free
access to competitive capital markets. This is due to when affirm chooses only positive NPV
projects, they will be meeting the shareholders and firms objective of maximising wealth. Instead of
solely seeking a maximisation of wealth that might negatively impact in other areas (e.g. future
profits, return on investment etc), NPV accounts for the time value of money, opportunity cost of
capital and differences in project rates of return.
Comparison of the strengths and weaknesses of the NPV approach to two other commonly used
approaches
This report will now focus on comparing the strengths and weaknesses of the NPV approach to two
other investment appraisal approaches, internal rate of return (IRR) and pay back.

They lead to many beneficial attributes, such as, a longer lifespan, a more determined mindset, an

When managing interpersonal conflicts the best possible outcome would be attainable by using
the Win Win method because it is able to accommodate the individual needs of all parties
involved in a conflict. The most logical reason as to why this is one of the most effective ways
when it comes to relieving disagreements is because it requires you to understand the others
underlying meanings in their evident messages. Contrasting the Win Win approach, there are three
other less successful techniques in order to sway a conflict. A Win Lose situation is when one
individual/group gets their aspirations granted, while the other individual/group suffers an
absolute loss. Also, in a conflict that practices the Lose Lose technique is when neither of the two
individuals involved is satisfied with the outcome. The last optional method employed in a
conflict is compromising. This is a way for both individuals involved to have only some of their
requests met. Meanwhile, each individual separately forgoes the remainder of his or her requests.
However, sometimes the Win Win approach is not always attainable or realistic, so one may opt for
the next best approach, compromise. This is often implemented when there is not enough time
/desire to understand each other s wants. Also, when the other party involved is clearly
noncompliant in employing a Win Win problem solving method, we may stray more toward the
decision to compromise

She risked selling alternative body care products. Nevertheless, she dealt with it with optimism. In
order to face success, it is of crucial importance to think of the ways by which the business model
will thrive in the marketplace. Another is to assess the strengths and opportunities of the business.
Lastly, it is always important to innovate, as this has always described entrepreneurs (Baghai,
Coley, and White, 2000). Innovations are proven to increase the business performance. During
Christmas last year, upon launching a new product, i.e. a strong Christmas gift range, and
improving customer services, operating profits from the division boosted to 17% to ₤11.7 million
(Geary, 2005). This is a recent event in the innovation strategies of Body Shop. Schumpeter (1939),
as cited in Mintrom, Schneider and Teske (1995), asserts that an entrepreneur functions to innovate,
which means devising new production function out of the existing factors of production. In simpler
terms, an entrepreneur is one who introduces a new product or a product that deviates from the
ordinary. Such is the basic idea or definition of an entrepreneur from which its modern definitions
have developed. Apart from the above, there is something about the packaging of the Body Shop
products. Roddick started with small bottles since that was what she was complaining on.

It is understandably very difficult to get past the witchcraft and view Wicca as a normal
religion, when witchcraft has always been said to be a satanic force. Wiccans do not believe in
the existence of a devil (they are not Satan worshippers)(2). Although the horned god has often
been mistaken for the devil by Christians, the two entities have no connection. As stated before,
there is no ultimate good or evil, sin is not a recognized concept either. Many will argue against
this by bringing up the pentacle, which is often mistaken for the pentagram. The five points on
both stars represent the four elements, plus the spirit. The difference between the two is that the
fifth point is pointed up on the pentacle, and down on the pentagram. The pentacle places the
spirit at the top, sending a positive message. As far as satanic practices go, no animal sacrifices will
be taking place in Wicca. The life of another is too sacred to allow this to happen. Bowls of

genuinely believe that members of a given cultural group are inferior and are not worthy of proper
treatment. Likewise, symbolic racismhave negative feeling about certain people because they
presume this precise group is interfering with facets of their own culture. Similar to symbolic
racism, tokenism carries the same trait as in having negative feelings about a given group;
however, they do not perceive to be discriminatory in their behavior. Arms length prejudice is when
people interact in cordial behavior to a culture group in some situations, but always keeping an arm
s length in more intimate situations. Real likes and dislikes... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Finally, the familiar and unfamiliar is when people who are socialized within a culture are
inclined to become familiar and comfortable with particular features of that culture, but they face
discomfort when they see behaviors in a culture that are unfamiliar. Of Brislin s six forms of
prejudice, redneck racism, tokenism, and real likes and dislikes distinctly applies to the town
leaders, Brother Jack, and Sybil, respectively. These characters expressions of these prejudices in
Ralph Ellison s Invisible Man clearly manifests the narrator s invisibility.
In the Invisible Man, redneck racism is evident throughout the novel and especially towards the
beginning in the dreadful and degrading scene of the Battle Royale. After a successful oration
which urged that humility and capitulation was crucial for the advancement of black society at his

Genetic Engineering And The Future Of The Destruction Of...
Genetic Engineering; Path to the Future of the Destruction of Society?
Being human, it s a natural desire to want other things that people have, whether we like it or
not. We are always comparing ourselves to other people. We are wanting to be taller, have this
hair color, or even want to have better writing skills. When we re born, you can t technically
choose what you will look like or what traits your parents will pass onto you. Advances in
biotechnology have changed the way we see DNA and how we can alter it to the way we want. You
can have access to the way you want to look or have the abilities that you desires. The field of
genetic engineering has grown in such ways where you can take sequences of DNA that control
these certain traits and place them in your sequence, giving you that desired traits. The storyline of
any Sci Fi movie has come to reality. Genetic engineering is the science that gives us the power to
alter the very basics of life, and even with the issues and possible negative consequence of the
research, this technology is something that we need for our benefit.
What is Genetic Engineering?
Genetic engineering is a very young technology. It is the modification of the traits and
characteristics of an organism by changing the DNA of the organism. DNA is seen as a universal
language because the code means the same thing in all species of animals. So when a trait is taken
from one individual and added to the genome of another individual it has the ability

Mental Health Counseling Analysis
One of the most interesting aspects of developing a mind for the mental health field is being
able to evaluate, understand, and cope with the obstacles of daily living in a healthier way.
Growing up, I was told that I was a happy child that did well in school and got along with others.
As I got older, I was told that I was a moody teen that slacked in schooland became distant from
others. Starting collegeI was told that I was a miserable adult with no motivation for school and
kept away from others. By the end of college, I was told that I was a bright young lady that
would go far in life and was able to approach others. When I took a look back and broke down my
life into smaller sections, I acquired the need to figure out what made my life the way it was
then, and also how it changed to be what it is today. I learned that without evaluating the core of
what was happening to me as a person, the people in my environment based my value on what
they could only see on the surface. When that happened, I also began to base my value on the
words that were told to me. I knew the life that I wanted for myself, but at the same time I did not
know how to get there.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I fell in love with the notion of living a life full of wellness and began to understand how setting
goals for yourself was a necessity. Although counseling and mental health is still beyond my full
understanding, I believe I could start by helping others begin to see their value in life and guide
them to understanding wellness. To me over all wellness is the foundation to counseling and the
foundation to life. One example of wellness is the process of losing weight and becoming a
healthier version of yourself. You cannot exercise, lose weight, and change your overall physical
health if you do not take the time to change your mental state

Beauty Is Beauty Meaning
Beauty can be seen in every shape, form, or size. Despite the difference in its existence, it cannot
be treated different. Beauty is beauty. Here Claude McKay, Ben Jonson, and Paul Dunbar allow
us to see beauty in different forms, however all meaning the same thing. From beauty in simplicity,
beauty in showing one s true emotions, and beauty in equality. The White City , Still To Be Neat,
Still To Be Dressed , and We Wear The Mask
, reveal the definition of beauty in deviating
embodiments. The juxtaposition, repetition, and antithesis in the poems helps clarify the author s
purpose.
In Claude McKay s The White City, the beauty he perceives in the city is juxtaposed with the
reality that dwells in it. From a distance, McKay views the city of his dreams, he describes it
having towers as high they touch the clouds, though, the city s environment fills him with hatred it
is the only thing keeping him alive . Although, he describes it as heaven in the white world s hell
(Arp, 892). The strong opposing connotation McKay notes, symbolizes the atmosphere in the city
he so desires. His heaven would be what the people in the city would consider hell . Since the poem
was written during the 1920s, a moment when racism and segregation was highly concentrated.
McKay describes heaven to be a place where blacks can be mixed with the whites, which for the
white city it would be hell. Likewise, for the white city heaven would be McKay s hell, and
conversely. The contrast helps to

Understanding Schizophrenia From The Mind Of A Mental...
Understanding Schizophrenia from the Mind of a Mental Health Victim Themselves
With basic information on what this mental illness is, to understand Schizophrenia further,
research into personal encounters became apparent. After looking into the mind of Ian Chovil
who was a victim of the mental health disease and finding his accounts very eccentric it is clear
that this is something that could quite possibly affect the brains of the people that commit
serious crimes in regards to the Media. Ian says in his story a few things which connect this type
of mental health to violent obscure behaviour. He says he had delusions right from the start
which after reading his story states, progressed from visions of famous persons trying to force
him to commit suicide right to the later stages of his schizophrenia where he says he got a lot of
messages from favourite Rock and Rolla songs, movies, cartoons and library books. Ian doesn t
say these forms of media forced him to murder innocent people but it does provide evidence that he
received messages. These messages in the mind of another schizophrenic could lead to serious acts
of violence which leads onto the next part of his story where he mentions how his delusions
changed as aliens instructed him on the real nature of reality then three things happened as contact
with reality became very tenuous, he got into trouble with the law, became an alcoholic and lost
his job. He is now taking instructions from a part of his mind he perceives

Aboriginal And Torres Strait Islander Community Analysis
Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people have a long and rich history in Australia. In the
community in which I live, and hopefully will be working, many programs and events have been
set up to support, encourage and maintain the qualities and efforts of the original owners of this
land. Browsing through the council website, I was able to find information relating to the
Aboriginal people who once lived in the western parts of Melbourne, they were the Yalukit Wilum,
a name meaning river camp or river dwellers . The council has provided links to a book written
about their lives which details their cultural practices, their religious beliefs, their customs, key
events in their calendar and other important information. I believe all educators

Global Education And Global Citizenship
Global Education and Global Citizenship
Earth, countries, and communities are all composed of individuals, these individuals are formed
based off of their living and learning environment. The term global citizenship can seem confusing
and goes misunderstood at times. It is important to keep in mind that this term is a bit vague and
can have multiple meanings to different people. To sum up the overall meaning of this term, is an
individual that realizes and accept the world and all it s diversity. An individual that takes part of
the bigger picture that contributes to building better communities, intergroup and outer groups that
are full of values, purpose and solutions. My life experienced and my general education courses
have had an immense influence on my identity as well as my view point on what it means to be a
global citizenship
According to the video Global Education and Global Citizenship (2011), there are several reasons
as to why educating others on global citizenship important. It stated that the teaching of global
citizenship or global community is being taught to the young students for the reason that it is the
younger generation that has the ability, knowledge power and openness to grasp the concept of
becoming a global citizen. This will ensure that the future of the world s problems as well as the
global development is shared and understood across the globe rather than nationally. The video
express that becoming a part of the global community will provide

Energy Star Research Paper
The Energy Star program estimate that most people could save money on their AC bills by
ridding their home of air leaks. Most older houses have large and small cracks in the foundation,
roof and walls. These cracks could be small or gaping holes. Most people might only notice large
holes, but some cracks cannot be seen without a magnifying glass.
After locating the air leaks, the technician will seal the cracks with a caulk or foam. An HVAC
technician can find leaks with a blower and infrared cameras. A blower is a large fan that is
installed in the doorway, and the fan has a device that can measure the amount of air flowing
through the home. An infrared camera can expose air leaks. The camera uses the colors blue and
red to indicate hot ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
When the garage door is closed, there should not be any openings around the sides, bottom or top
of the garage door. The technician can apply PVC molding to the cracks. The molding will seal the
gap between the door and the frame.
If the garage has an uneven floor, the technician can apply a brush seal. It will prevent dirt and
water from penetrating the floor. The most durable seals are made from nylon and aluminum.
Weather stripping can keep your garage warm during the winter months and cool during the summer
months. Since your garage will be warmer, you will not have to waste time waiting for your car to
heat up.
It is going to be a hot and long summer, and your air conditioner will be forced to work hard if
your home is not properly insulated. When an HVAC technician finishes weather stripping your
windows and doors, you will save money on your AC bills. Do not wait until the summer to take
action. You can start saving money on your electric bills today. An experienced HVAC technician
can help you reduce your energy consumption and lower your carbon footprint. You will be amazed
by how much money you save every month.

New research on consumer experiences also emphasizes the importance of embodiment. Pham et al. (2001), for instance, state that consumer assessments are often based on both feelings and reason and that one or the other becomes more prominent depending on the context. They argue that feelings play a central role in consumer decision making and merit serious investigation, which, for this study, means that intertwining mind and body is crucial for creating an unforgettable consumer experience. The effort afoot to restore embodied realism to social scientiп¬Ѓc inquiry (Johnson 1999; Lakoff and Johnson 1999) has generated some of the most exciting research into consumer behavior. In this article, we address the links between embodiment and consumer experiences in order to elucidate the contours of the aesthetic experience not just the process of thinking bodily but how the body affects the logic of our thinking about art. • 3. Essay on Romanticism, Realism and Local Color in The... Romanticism, Realism and Local Color in The Awakening Kate Chopin is an author who was born in 1851 and died in 1904. Her father died when she was young, and her husband died when she was thirty one leaving her with six children. Due to this, she had little male influence throughout her life. This may possibly be why she had so little inhibition when writing her novels. She seemed to concentrate on the oppression of women and presented socially unacceptable ideas at the time of their publication. Although Kate Chopin stirred up great controversy in her time, today her novels, short stories, and poems are often regarded as great literary works that incorporate bold concepts, grim social realities, ... One way she defies society is by leaving her home on Tuesdays, which are designated by Creole tradition as stay at home and greet guests days. On several Tuesdays, Edna leaves home to walk about town leaving her guests and husband disappointed. She searches to be an individual and not conform to the standards of society. As written in the novel, She had all her life long been accustomed to harbor thoughts and emotions which never voice themselves. They had never taken the form of struggles. They belonged to her and were her own, and she entertained the conviction that she had a right to them and that they concerned no one but herself. Edna had once told Madame Ratignolle that she would never sacrifice herself for her children, or for any one (79). Another example of Romanticism can be found in the way society treats life at the time. They are oblivious, especially the women, to the limits of their lifestyle. The society present in The Awakeningpaints a picture where they only see beautiful, vibrant colors. However, as Edna soon finds out, paint does not stay beautiful forever. Edna begins to see the layers of paint peeling and chipping off to reveal the grays and blacks hidden beneath. As the story unravels, the reader ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Malvolio Twelfth Night The role of Malvolio in Twelfth Night is, generally, being the target of Sir Toby, Sir Andrew and Maria s pranks and foolishness. At the beginning of the play, he is very easy to find intolerable, due to his killjoy like behaviour and vanity. However, by the end of the play, the audience mostly feel sorry for him, because of the malicious way that Sir Toby and others treat Malvolio. Despite this, Malvolio is one of the main sources of comedy, due to his gullibility and, as some say, his foolishness . My argument is that Sir Toby, Sir Andrew and Maria are the real fools of Twelfth Night Sir Toby in particular. Fool a person who acts unwisely or imprudently; a silly person. My first point is Sir Toby, Sir Andrew and Maria are the real fools of Twelfth Night, since they create the foolishness, while Malvolio is simply a victim of their foolish behaviour. This foolish behaviour is the pranks that Sir Toby and others pull and Malvolio is a victim of it since he is the victim of all their pranks. For example, Sir Toby, Sir Andrew and Maria forged a love letter from Olivia, addressed to M, O, A, I (Malvolio). In this letter, Olivia says Remember who commended thy yellow stockings, and wished to see thee ever cross gartered . Malvolio falls for this and wears cross gartered yellow stockings. Another display of their pranks is when Sir Toby, Sir Andrew, Maria and Fabian tie Malvolio up in a dark room Come, we ll have him in a dark room and... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... These many negative effects could build up into a more serious situation, with all of the possible outcomes of these side effects mixing together it could quite possibly take a turn for the worse. The use of violent video games could cause players to participate in criminal violence, because of the increased levels of aggressionand rage. NBC News reported of a gory incident in January of 2013, which involved Nehemiah Griego and his murderous actions toward his parents and three of his siblings in his home. The fifteen year old boy killed his family because he had been angry with his mother in the days before the murders. When questioned about his family, the boy was emotionless, but immediately after the investigators asked what his interests were, his face lit up and he immediately began reminiscing about his favorite video games, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare, and Grand Theft Auto (2013). Common sense media explains the game, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3, with a vivid description; a bloody military shooting game with disturbing cinematic moments (n.d.). Could Griego s avid gaming schedule, and love for the bloody first person shooting game be slightly related to his urge to kill (2013b)? His decision to kill all the occupants of his house did not solely result from one night of gaming, for it was an accumulation of risk factors. Dating back to the 17th and 18th century authors, like Moliere and Voltaire, often express their views on social issues with an outstanding play. Holding a debate on the issue of poverty, is one that can easily go awry due to it s complexity and emotional aspects. The debate teams need to be able to clearly explain their position, refute the opponent s argument, provide solutions, provide a stimulating counter examination, and effectively answer questions from the judges. Other logistical aspects of the debate that will be judged on is the ability to efficiently use time and allocate it between team members, as well as refraining from interrupting other debates and keeping an appropriate volume and demeanor. Many in Western Society seem to be unaware of the contemporary slavery still plaguing many developing countries, particularly involving children. The 2010 documentary film called The Dark Side of Chocolate explored the modern day slavery that is occurring within many West African countries, where children are being exploited and trafficked in order to harvest chocolate. In fact, the United States Department of State estimates that approximately 109,000 children in the Ivory Coast s cocoa industry work under the worst forms of child labor (Mustapha, 2010, p.3). A business, for this case British Airways, can only be as successful as its marketing initiatives. A company is said to be market driven when it is focused on the market that it is in and the customers who define that market (Buggie, 1993). Sometimes a company will examine the overall market they are in and try to redefine it so that they can cover a niche. British Airways is trying to focus its drive in its market so that customers look to the company as the leading premier air carrier. In order for the company to do this, they have to alter long held perceptions by changing the way that they do business. British Airways has started doing this by employing two distinct methodologies. First British Airways merged with Iberia which gives them a wider customer base, and they formed alliances with other national carriers such as Qantas and American Airlines. The company also needed to have a look that bespoke luxury, so they have also upgraded their facilities in the airports they serve (specifically Heathrow). The purpose of this paper is to examine the effectiveness of British Airways plans to expand their business and improve their services through a strategic marketing analysis. According to The Strangerby Albert Camusand The Meursault Investigation by Kamel Daoud, both authors inscribe the idea of othering in their pieces of literature unintentionally. • 25. An Analysis Of Susanna Wheatley s Poetry Both female poets choose to use the first person, implying that the I connotates a personal sentiment for the author and reader. In Wheatley s case, it is made clear to the reader through a footnote that the poem is in fact about her as it states, [it] commemorates Wheatley s transatlantic voyage to London (Wheatley 1020). In this poem, the reader is given a direct image of departure. Wheatley travels from Boston to London in order to publish her poems as well as maintain her health. Moreover, to further point out Wheatley is the intended I , the poem is dedicated to her mistress Susanna Wheatley who is mentioned in the poem. Her poem uses the first person to not only show she is the subject of the poem, but to narrate her feelings on her travel experience.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In consideration of the historical context, it can be interpreted that this I is in fact Prince Albert talking to both Great Britain and his wife, Queen Victoria. Unlike Wheatley s poem which focuses on travel, Remember possesses a language of longing by writing intimate moments such as [holding] me by the hand (Rossetti 554, 3). To further prove that this poem contains romantic undertones, it should be noted that Remember is a Petrarchan sonnet, containing fourteen lines and a volta, known for focusing on courtship or love. The feeling of longing produced in her poem suggests Rossetti uses Albert s voice to reach out to the Queen to help her cope with her loss. Rather than using the first person to be the subject of the poem, Rossetti chooses the style to further apply a personal connection with her readers (and most importantly Queen Victoria). The use of first person for both poets, though differently used, identifies with the core belief of an I aiming to connect with the readers on a personal level to transmit their ... • 27. Analysis Of The Movie Stranger By Harold Crick Harold Crick is an IRS auditor who lives an extremely predictable lifestyle dictated by routine and numbers. In the beginning of the film Stranger than Fiction Harold is depicted as boring, routine, and shows signs of having Obsessive Compulsive Disorder with his endless counting of everything he sees. He lives his life to the minimum as he has no wife, social life, no real friends, and in fact, his wristwatch seems to be his only friend as he depends on timing everything down to the second, to save time. Harold continues to live every day just like the last, simply slaving through the rest of the workweek, until he hears a mysterious voice, an omniscient voice, narrating his every move day in and out. Karen Eiffel Kay is an esteemed novelist known for writing amazing tragedies. She has been working on her latest work but is suffering from writer s block, and can t figure out how exactly she wants to kill her main character, Harold Crick. During her narrations she announces Harold s sudden imminent death, and he hears this with an overwhelming fear of what this means for him. The sudden imminent death creates an issue of time sensitivity for Harold, and is a huge part of Stranger than Fictions theme. • 28. Dr. Seuss Instruments The synopsis of the process of the Dr. Seuss theme instrument. The design of our project was based upon the instruments seen in the Dr. Seuss novels. The instrument is multi colored and similar to the color scheme found on the cover of the book, Oh, the Places You ll Go. The shape and unique structure are also attributed to many distinctive instruments found in Dr. Seuss stories. We decided to have two mouthpieces available, so two people can play the instrument at the same time and the overall structure characterizes the disproportionate instruments seen in the books. Going with the theme, the sound created is also very interesting. When assembling the instrument, we had stuck wax paper between the parts of the pipe, creating a kazoo like sound. We had chosen to use PVC pipes in order to lock in the sound, leaving no air to escape, and funnels in order to amplify the sound being given off. Before our final design, there had happened to be another idea we were going for. The design had included a chamber that would contain soft air gun pellets or bb gun pellets that were capped off by 3D printed discs, covering each end of the side chambers. Despite the reality of known imperfections in capital markets (e.g. taxation, transaction costs, asymmetric information), overall the use of NPV makes sense as a corporate objective. Certain imperfections can be modelled into financials, providing a more realistic picture. Brealey et al (2008) state that the use of NPV for uncertain cash flows makes sense too, providing there is free access to competitive capital markets. This is due to when affirm chooses only positive NPV projects, they will be meeting the shareholders and firms objective of maximising wealth. The most logical reason as to why this is one of the most effective ways when it comes to relieving disagreements is because it requires you to understand the others underlying meanings in their evident messages. Contrasting the Win Win approach, there are three other less successful techniques in order to sway a conflict. A Win Lose situation is when one individual/group gets their aspirations granted, while the other individual/group suffers an absolute loss. Also, in a conflict that practices the Lose Lose technique is when neither of the two individuals involved is satisfied with the outcome. The last optional method employed in a conflict is compromising. This is a way for both individuals involved to have only some of their requests met. Meanwhile, each individual separately forgoes the remainder of his or her requests. However, sometimes the Win Win approach is not always attainable or realistic, so one may opt for the next best approach, compromise. Growing up, I was told that I was a happy child that did well in school and got along with others. As I got older, I was told that I was a moody teen that slacked in schooland became distant from others. Starting collegeI was told that I was a miserable adult with no motivation for school and kept away from others. When I took a look back and broke down my life into smaller sections, I acquired the need to figure out what made my life the way it was then, and also how it changed to be what it is today. I learned that without evaluating the core of what was happening to me as a person, the people in my environment based my value on what they could only see on the surface.
