The Future of
  Communication
   Technology.
What technology will look like in
             2021
       By: Allyson Pipta
Dream Big
• Taking a look back at 10 years ago, it is
simply amazing to see how communication
technology has advanced and changed. It is
really exciting to imagine the possibilities of
where communication technology will be in
  10 more years.
• “Innovation distinguishes between a leader
and a follower.” –Steve Jobs, the greatest
  innovator of our time.
Change in Education
      • Education is one of the most
        important tools into creating and
        enabling innovators and great
        thinkers of the future.
      • How people are educated will
change in the next 10 years through
        communication technology.
      • Students of all ages, at all levels of
education will be able to enjoy the
        changes in the future
Education
• In 10 years there will no longer be
    use for paper back
    textbooks, students will be taught
    through tablets.
• With the youth being so
    knowledgeable, navigating through
the latest technology this will be an
    easy transition for children in
    classrooms.
• It is found that 75% of kids between
the ages of 13-17 have a cell
phone, so it would only make sense
to make something like this the
    center of the classroom
Education at the Higher Level
• At universities and colleges,
  how students are taught will
  also see change.
• Everything will be done via
  computers/tablets, with little
  paper trail
• Video calls with students and
  professors will also become
  the norm in online classes.
• Students will be able to
  actually access online videos
  of classroom lectures, rather
than just audio as it is now.
The Umbrella Perspective
• Social System
• Organizational
  Infrastructure
• Hardware/Software
• Individual User
• Factors that Affect all
  Levels
  – Enabling
  – Limiting
  – Motivating
  – Inhibiting
Video Gaming of the Future
• Gaming systems have come a
long way since the days of the
Atari and I see them only going
    bigger and better from where
    they are at now.
• In the future biometrics will be
    used to control video games
• The emotions and feelings of
the person playing will be able
    to be read through
    biometrics, making the video
    gaming experience more
    personal
Video Games
• The idea of motion controlled
    games will evolve into something
even greater than the item like
    the Wii has created.
• You will physically become a
part of the game through sensor
    technology.
• This will change how people
    view this hobby, which is
    sometimes considered for the
    lazy.
• New innovations will allow you to
be up and moving in all games
    creating quite the virtual
    experience
Uses & Gratifications Theory
• This theory emerged in the 1970’s by
  Katz, Blumler, and Gurevitch.
• Involves the audience actively seeking out
specific media and content to achieve results
or gratifications that satisfy their personal
  needs.
• This important for future innovations because
people are always going to seek media that is
  gratifying for them personally.
Television of the Future
• The future of television will
  eventually become 3D.
• You will be able to access 3D
  movies, news channels, and
  sports channels from the
  comfort of your home
Television and PC’s
• Soon it will be the norm
  for your television and
  personal computer to be
  combined.
• With just a wireless
  keyboard you can sit in
  your living room and do
  all things you did while
  sitting at your desk on
  your computer.
Diffusion of Innovations Theory
• Diffusion of an innovation
  occurs through a five–step
process. This process is a type
  of decision-making.
• It occurs through a series of
  communication channels over
a period of time among the
  members of a similar social
  system.
