Comparing Smartphone Vs Smart Phones
Smartphones are overtaking the technology world by making it easier for people to communicate
with each other every day; and everything they need to do can be done right on their smartphones.
Instead of having to use cameras to take pictures, computers to send emails and to play games it all
can be done on one simple device; the smartphone. A big debate that still has not been settled is
whether iPhones are better or if Samsungs are better. Most people would say iPhones are better than
Samsungs, however, Samsungs are the better smartphones. While both phones meet the basic
phone requirements such as calling and texting, Samsung is better because it does everything the
iPhonecan and more. However, Samsung does a better job at meeting people s needs because it
has everything the iPhone has plus more. Samsung is a better phone than the iPhone because it
can set custom ringtones for different phone contacts, it also encourages multitasking with apps
which allows work to get done faster, and an ID is not needed to call or text people. This is
important because people will know when to pick up the phone based on the ringtone that has been
assigned to a specific person.
First of all, Samsungs have better and longer lasting battery life than iPhones do. Samsungs also
have the ability to remove the battery from the phone and it also has fast charging so that the phone
can be used as many times as needed without the problem of the battery running out. For instance,
there s no

Making Extraordinary Wine From California s Best Vineyards
One of the few remaining family owned wineries in the nation, Kendall Jackson Winery, Ltd. is
one of California s largest and fastest growing wine companies. Kendall Jackson and its sister
wineries comprise the 13th largest wine operation in the United States. The company produces
approximately 1.7 million cases of wineannually from the fruits of its more than 10,000 acres of
vineyards, and exports to at least 40 countries worldwide. According to company documents,
Kendall Jackson s four separate wineries house what is possibly the single largest barrel
fermentationproject in the world.

These products always maintain their original natural flavors of their origin, (California) either as a
regional blend or specific vineyard.
Kendall Jackson consolidated its control over its supply chain by investing in barrel production and
handling its own distribution. Mr. Jackson was also a pioneer in establishing sustainable farming
practices in the vineyards.
Supply Chain at Kendall Jackson
The supply chain for this family owned business differs from the general wine supply chain
explained above given that their main strategy is to centralize and consolidate themselves several of
the stages in this process to maximize product quality.
1. Grape Grower
Kendall Jackson vineyards include 10,545 acres throughout California coastal regions, mountains,
ridges, hillsides and bench lands. These sites help draw a rich palette of aromas and flavors to
handcraft wines of exceptional depth and complexity. They currently grow Chardonnay, Cabernet
Sauvignon, Sauvignon Blanc, Pinot Noir, Zinfandel, Riesling, and Merlot varietals.
Kendall Jackson uses sustainable agricultural methods ensuring that their vineyards will keep
producing the highest quality fruit for generations to come.
Each vineyard lot is kept separate at the winery, so it can truly capture the essence of each vineyard
site.
Virtually all of the grapes (99 percent) that go into making Kendall Jackson s wines come from two
climatic zones in California, on land that stretches from Mendocino in the

Research Paper On Titanic
Famous Ships that Sank Did you know that only 36.1% of people on board, passengers and
crew, survived the Titanic?Or that 200 people went blind because of the halifax Harbour

learn about what happened to 3 different ships,The Titanic,Le Joola, and the Mont Blanc. Now
this paragraph will tell you what happened to the Titanic.A ship called the Titanic was built on
May 31,1911 and set off on it s voyage on April 10,1912.With everyone on board,it departed from
South Hampton with over 2000 people hoping to get to America.Sadly, the large ship was only
400 miles from land when it hit an iceberg.Inside the vessel, the crew got 6 ice warnings before
impact. While everyone on board was panicking, the ship was sinking,in fact it took 2 hours and
40 minutes to sink.It was called the ship of dreams before this happened, but now it sounds like
something that could only exist in a nightmare. After the Titanic the world was shaken,in fact it
was almost how the country reacted to 9/11.Only 706 out of 2208 on board survived. What is sad

Ida B. Wells Essays
Ida B. Wells was a woman dedicated to a cause, a cause to prevent hundreds of thousands of
people from being murdered by lynching. Lynching is defined as to take the law into its own
hands and kill someone in punishment for a crime or a presumed crime. Ida B. Wells amp;#8217;
back round made her a logical spokespersonagainst lynching. She drew on many experiences
throughout her life to aid in her crusade. Her position as a black woman, however, affected her
credibility both in and out of America in a few different ways.
Her parents nurtured the background of this crusader to make her a great spokesperson. She also
held positions throughout her life that allowed her to learn a lot about lynching. She was ... Show

Her energetic campaign for truth and justice gave her a lot of attention to fuel her crusade. All
these factors support the fact that her background made her an ample spokes person for the anti
lynching campaign. Adding to her credibility, personal experiences also gave her more of a drive
to continue her crusade.
She became a leading community activist through a sequence of events. In 1884 Ida was riding
a train in a first class car, when she was asked to move to the smoking car. When she refused, two
conductors tried to physically move her. She instead got off the train and filed a discrimination
lawsuit. The lawsuit was initially won, but the Tennessee Supreme Court overturned the verdict.
After the train incident, in 1889, Ida went to The Free Speech paper; this is where her most
promising worked developed. In 1892, three of her friends were brutally killed during a
lynching. This one particular event opened the eyes of Wells and prompted her to write some of
her most controversial works yet. However this type of writing got the Free Speech office
ransacked and destroyed. The other owner of the Free Speech barely escaped with his life, but
he carried the message that if Ida were to show her face ever again in Tennessee she would be
killed. Now with all this ammunition based on personal experience, even as an African American
woman, she had gained credibility to be able to speak with

Leo Tolstoy The Three Hermits
In the short story The Three Hermits Leo Tolstoy illustrates how faith in God does not derive
from the complexity of one s prayer or doctrine, but rather from the simplicity and humbleness in
one s heart to be genuinely faithful and all serving to him. The story consists of three religious
hermits, who have chosen a life of simplistic isolation. Also, there is this bishop on a pilgrimage to
spread the word of god, he hears about these hermits that live on a small island in search of the
salvation of their souls (275). As a holy man himself, the priest had no choice but to see these
hermits for himself and educate them about true doctrine. The three hermits were men who had
sacrifice their entire lives to God. Tolstoy portrays their sacrifice by the men s descriptions. They
were extremely old, the fisherman stated that one s must have been at least hundred years old. They
were wearing tattered peasant clothes. One was even described to have a beard to his knees. They
lived in their humble island without the need of materialistic possessions. They showed no signs of
greed, lust, gluttony, they were true men of god. Also, the men showed great humbleness through
their charity. When the fisherman got stranded on the Hermit s island they welcomed him. The
hermits helped him mend his... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The bishop believed the only right way to serve God was through the holy scriptures. The humble
men repeated each doctrine until it was implanted in their brains, but they did not understand why
they were saying those things. They repeated, but did not truly feel it in their hearts. They only
knew one way to pray, a simple verse three are ye, three are we, have mercy upon us (277). It was
simple, yet it was something they truly believed in. They wanted a greater connection to God,
unknowing that they were one with God already through their pure hearts and genuine

Essay On The Paradox Of Slavery
Which came first, the chicken or the egg, slavery or racism? The question of whether racism is
the root of slavery, or if slavery caused racism is an ongoing debate that throughout history
historians has been batting to answer, and have yet to come to an agreement. Some people think
that people were made slaves because of prejudice toward the color of their skin, therefore, racism
caused slavery; others believe that people saw slaves as inferior to them, and therefore slavery
caused racism. Jordan s The Mutual Causation of Racism and Slavery , Morgan s The Paradox
of Slavery and Freedom and Bacon s Rebellion helps us see where the separation between white
and black slaves began in America. Slavery and racism are interconnecting, but by looking at the
sources and articles, we can see that slavery caused racism. The article of Jordan s The Mutual
Causation of Racism and Slavery helps to look at not only two sides of the discussion, but also a
third side, that both racial prejudice and slavery work hand in hand. The Article The Paradox of
Slavery also helps us see how slavery and racism connect.
The first side in The Mutual Causation of Racism and Slavery shows that slavery causes racism.
When people first started migrating to America, most Africans were equal to the English settlers.
It is equally clear that a substantial number of Virginia s Negroes were free or became free. And

Susan B. Anthony, Nelson Mandela And The United Nations
I have cherished the ideal of a democratic and free society in which all persons live together in
harmony and with equal opportunities. It is an ideal in which I hope to live for and achieve. But
if needs be, it is an ideal for which I am prepared to die. Nelson Mandela. Throughout history,
humanity has ventured to make the world a better place. In Earth s past, many different people
and organizations have strived to do good and create a positive impact on others lives. Mankind, as
a whole, has chosen to stay far from evil and make good decisions. Susan B. Anthony, Nelson
Mandela, and the United Nationsorganization are all significant examples of how humanity has
chosen throughout history to make good decisions. Anthony, Mandela, and the UN are all instances
where a person or organization has focused on human rights and made an effort to create a world in

Anthony was a woman who proves mankind chooses to make good choices. She chose to stick
up not only for herself, but all women whose rights were being denied. She stood for the equality
of all people, and she devoted her life to making a change in the way the world viewed both
women and slavery. Susan is an important historical figure who proves mankind cares about
others and takes notice of them. Susan chose to do good in the world by speaking out for equal
rights, and mankind has chosen to do good and listen to her. While some people may argue that
Susan B. Anthony should not have advocated for equality so strongly because, as a result, many
laws had to be changed, Anthony is one reason why American citizens have equal rights today.
Without Anthony, women would not be allowed to vote and would be viewed as ignoble
compared to men. Laws had to change in order for women and blacks to receive the rights they
deserve, and someone had to make a stand to amend them. Susan B. Anthony dedicated her life to
campaigning for equal rights, especially for women, and mankind should be grateful she

The Roman Empire And The Byzantine Empire
The Byzantine Empire was the successor of the Roman Empire during the time period of Late
Antiquity and the Medieval Ages. The Byzantine Empire was also called Eastern Roman Empire,
so this proves that it was a continuation of the Roman Empire, but they were speaking Greek, and
did not forget about the Greek tradition. According to Browning, the physicians during the
Byzantine Empirelike Oreibasios, who was the Emperor Julian s physician and friend , use the
scientific and old version of Greek medicine to treat patients, and this means that medical doctors
did not forget about their Greek roots. Starting from Basil I, a Byzantine Emperor between 867
and 886, the Byzantine Empire entered its Golden Age, and according to Browning, Basil I
established a very good Empire time that would last two centuries with his precious energy and
rules. After decades, this Golden Age began to give place to decline because, according to
Browning, within the eleventh century, the attitudes and the thoughts that were primitive, spoilt,
and lack of imagination of the future of the Empire began to become strong among the aristocratic
society, and this began to harm Byzantine s economic and military power. This kind of harm to the
centralized government of the Byzantine Empire did not show itself as a poisonous snake till 1060
because the Empire could not function itself as usual. Therefore, the enemies of the Byzantine
Empire took an advantage of this weakness. Hungarians took Belgrade

Can Students Have Too Much Tech By Susan Pinker Analysis
In the article Can Students Have Too Much Tech? Susan Pinker explains the pros and cons of
technology in the classroom. Her argument is supplemented by Studies from Duke University and
Stanford University. She also utilized the history of the One Laptop per child nonprofit, along with
her own research and opinions.
Pinker uses the studies from Duke and a Stanford Professor s opinion to support her argument
with evidence that can t be denied. The study from Duke suggests a negative trend in student s
Math and Reading scores that hits especially hard from the 5th to 8th grade. In my experience
from the 5th to 8th grade I used my family s computer to play runescape and write emails to my
extended relatives. Pinker supplements her theory with a similar opinion from a Standford
Professor. The Professor comes to the conclusion of an initial surge in engagement in studies with a
sharp decline after little time. This all summarizes to show a clear negative effect of students using
the home computer. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Martin luther king is most greatly known for his I have a dream speech but there is much more
to Mr. Kings life than just that. King led many Civil rights movements since the mid 1950 s

Cold War Proxy War Essay
Due to how many countries in Africa were used in Cold War proxy wars, an important question is,
Which of the superpowers had a larger influence on Africa? And while the U.S.A. certainly did have
significant sway in Asia, mainly Korea and Vietnam, and in the Middle East in Afghanistan,
relatively, not much was spent, both financially and in a militaristic sense, in Africa. Similarly, the
U.S.S.R. was also spending the majority of their resources in Europeand Asia.
However, when examining where Cuba stood in Africa s proxy wars, one can see that a large
majority of communist and socialist factions in Africa were given aid by Cuba. Therefore, was
Cuba the most influential power in Africa during the Cold War? Or were the U.S.S.R and U.S.A....

MPLA troops became operatives and guerillas in Namibia, aiding in the eventual separation of
Namibia from South African control.
Additionally, in the Congo, Cuba gave support to anti capitalist and colonialist factions in the four
years Congo Civil War or Congo Crisis. During the period, Che Guevara travelled to the Congo as
a military advisor, and trained Congolese guerillas to fight against the ruling forces of Joseph
Mobutu.
Smaller expeditions were sent out by Cuba. In Ethiopia, Cuba followed the Soviet Union and other
communist powers in support of the Derg government in the Ogaden War between Somalia and
Ethiopia. One thousand five hundred Cuban troops were deployed to Israel in the Yom Kippur War
in support of Arab forces.
Importantly, much of the support Cuba sent to Africa during the Cold War was humanitarian aid.
Engineers were sent to build hospitals and schools, where Cuban teachers and doctors were sent.
Roughly thirty thousand African students travelled to Cuba to study at Cuban universities.
Therefore, Cuba became seen not only as a military benefactor in Africa, but also an altruistic

Napalm In Vietnam War
Fire has been used in battle as far back as the Greeks in 7th century A.D, but the most devastating
use of fire warfare was when Napalm used by the United States in World War two against the
Japanese and again in the Vietnam War. Flame throwers were used in World War One, but the
problem was that it burned too quick because of the gasoline mixture that was used to produce
the flame. In 1942 a team of Harvard researchers that was led by Dr. Louis Fieser discovered that
a mixture of rubber with the gasoline made a flame that burned longer, but rubber was would
have to be replaced by aluminum soap powder because of the scarcity of rubber (Rohn Napalm in
Vietnam War ). This mixture would later be known as napalm and it was a modernization of war

Chinese Immigrants in America Essay
After the first wave of Chinese immigrants arrived in the United States in the early 1840s during
the California Gold Rush, many Chinese people continued to travel across the Pacific, escaping
poor conditions in China with hopes and ambitions for a better life in America. Many more
Chinese immigrants began arriving into the 1860s on the Pacific coast for work in other areas
such as the railroad industry. The immigrants noticed an increasing demand for their labor because
of their readiness to work for low wages. Many of those who arrived did not plan to stay long, and
therefore there was no push for their naturalization. The immigrants left a country with thousands of
years of a decaying feudal system, corruption, a growing... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The growth of Chinese jobs in the California labor market did not stop there. Because of the hard
times, employers found it especially attractive that the Chinese workers would work for long
hours with low pay. Huge losses hit California in 1876 with a drought; this led to unemployment
across the coast including for the Chinese. Many white investors, however, used the Chinese as
scapegoats for this statewide depression, fueling the anti Chinese fire and leading to more
hostility towards Chinese workers. The firsthand account of Lee Chew, a Chinese immigrant to
America in the early 1880s, shows the disparities between the white man s perception of Chinese
laborers and reality as well as the hostility that arose as a result. When Lee first arrived in
America, he started working as a housekeeper for a family in California, being paid $3.50 a week
and being able to keep 50 cents afterwards. For Lee and other Chinese immigrants, they believed
the hostility arose from jealousy in the labor market, because he [Chinese worker] is a more
faithful worker than one of their people, [and they] have raised such a great outcry about Chinese
cheap labor that they have shut him [Chinese worker] out of working on farms or in factories or
building railroads or making streets or digging sewers. Lee s testimony shows the common ripple
effects of the working restrictions white men imposed on the Chinese immigrants looking for jobs.
This resulted in Chinese

Opening An Offshore Bank Account
10 Things You Should Know Before Opening An Offshore Bank Account
Opening an offshore account is not just for the super rich. There are plenty of legitimate, legal,
honest and good reasons why you should open an offshore bank account yourself. Before you open
your account, read this article about the ten things you should know before opening an offshore
account.
Throughout this article, you will see the acronym FBAR used quite a bit. It is a Report of Foreign
Bank and Financial Accounts (FBAR). You will need to file an FBAR when ...a U.S. person has
a financial interest in, or signature authority over, one or more foreign financial accounts with an
aggregate value greater than $10,000 at any time during the reporting period (calendar year). If a
report is required, certain records must also be kept. (IRS 4.26.16.1 (11 06 2015))
1 Foreign Account Inconsistencies Is A Big Red Flag
When you fill out your tax return and you tick the box that says you have foreign accounts, you are
telling the IRS that you have an FBAR filing obligation.
Amending tax returns to report your worldwide income is fine, but some people choose not to
file their delinquent FBARs. Not filing is probably a bad idea, especially since the government is
coming down hard on tax dodgers at the moment. If you have inconsistencies from one tax return
to another, or between your old FBARs and old tax returns, then it is going to make the IRS very
suspicious.

My Search Research Paper
Turning a Passion into a Career
The Story of My Search
Throughout my life, the outdoors have been a large part of me. I was lucky enough to be raised

year we take part in hunting white tailed deer and turkey. When we re together, hearing stories of
past hunts is routine. Looking at the shoulder mount of a buck or the spread fan and beard on the
wall never fails to stir something up. Our family addiction has carried on through generations.
However, as time has passed so has hunting.

different nutritional needs throughout the year. For example, a deer will eat mostly high quality

plants become less available and deer shift their diet more towards moderate quality browse such

The defeat of the Allied forces in the battle put doubt into the minds of many all of whom assumed
the righteous democracies of the western Allies could not be defeated in the field by the armies of
Fascism. The defeat suffered by the Allies had nothing to do with right versus wrong, but was very
much a product of a number of operational shortcomings on the part of the Allies. Poor logistics,
failures on the part of American leadership, lack of unity of effort on the part of the Allies, the lack

The decision to invade North Africa reflected the triumph of British strategic arguments over those
of the Americans as the Americans were pushing for an invasion in northern France as early as
1942. American military leadership, however, was not sold on the logic or necessity of a North
African campaign. General George C. Marshall, the architect of American military strategy, wanted
no part of a US commitment to a Mediterranean campaign. The decision to commit American
troops in North Africa came directly from President Roosevelt, who overruled the advice of
Marshall and his military advisers on this point.
b.As the operation began, the Americans and British hoped the French would not resist the Allied
landings, and further expected French forces in North Africa would rejoin the anti Axis alliance. In
order to facilitate these hopes, the Allies designated General Dwight D. Eisenhower to command
the invasion forces. With an American general leading the forces, the Allies sought to restrict any
resistance from Anglophobic French officials and officers in the areas around the invasion beaches
and ports. Despite such measures, however, the French did put up some level of resistance at nearly
every landing point. Nonetheless, dissension among the various French factions in North Africa
limited the cohesiveness and effectiveness of the opposition. Ultimately, the magnitude and rapidity

Toy Safety Standards And Regulations
The toy industry is consistently growing and expanding within the United States. In 2015, the toy
industry grew 7% in domestic sales from 2014, with a net worth of $19.48 billion. Demand for
toys is vastly seasonal with nearly 70% of toy sales taking place before, during, and just after the
Christmas season. Because of this, it is important for those within the toyindustry to predict demand
during peak season in order to avoid heavy markdowns after the holidays. Legos largest competitors
are Mattel and Hasbro. However, with Lego s net income as a percentage of sales at an impressive
24%, they greatly surpass Mattel and Hasbro with net income coming in at 14% and 7%,
respectively.
Because the toy industry makes use of assembly lines, machines, and manual labor; it is considered
a manufacturing, or secondary, industry.
The United States has some of the strictest toy safety standards and regulations in the world. Any
toy intended for use by children age 12 and under must be third party tested and certified with a
Children s Product Certificate (CPSC). However, not every section of the Children s Product
Certificate may apply to any given toy. The document is lengthy with a multitude of provisions.
Each provision may not necessarily may to any given toy. For example, toys that don t make and
noise would not need to adhere to sound provisions. Although certain sections may be exempt, each
applicable provision much be in compliance with the toy safety standard.

The Stranger Response
The Stranger The Eye is the window to ones soul. The significance of the eye is that it can display
emotions without spoken words. Humans cannot control the inner actions of their eyes because the
eyes are apart of the body that moves unintentionally. I chose to draw an abstract art of the eye to
help the reader visualize and understand Meursault s emotions throughout the story. I also chose to
use abstract art because it was an art movement that became popular in the 1940s. During this time
period, abstract art consisted of multiple different colors and it stood as a method of expression for
those who wanted to display their feelings. I also incorporated the usage of numerous lines in my

The puzzles in the back represent the visual analysis that the author wants the readers to develop
about Meursault s life. My reasoning behind this is because his life was portrayed as a puzzle
and it was hard to understand why he did the things he did and why he acted the way he did.
There were specific colors used to represent life and death. The dark lines indicate fear and his

Cacstromethorphan Case Studies
1.Dextromethorphan is believed to have rapid acting antidepressant properties at high dosage
because it s similar to glutamate NMDA receptor antagonist ketamine, which has shown rapid
(within hours after administration) antidepressant effects. However, ketamine has adverse effects
and a high potential to be abused [16].

A case report showed Dextromethorphan was effective in a middle aged man with Major
Depressive Disorder. A 51 year old Caucasian male with DSM V Major Depressive Disorder,
recurrent, severe, non psychotic and Generalized Anxiety Disorder was treated with 600 mg/day of
CYP2D6 inhibitor bupropion XL (a common antidepressant drug) and a 60 mg BID oral dose of
Dextromethorphan. The patient showed improvement in major depressive disorder without side
effects. This case study was the first to show the fast acting effect of Dextromethorphan in major
depressive disorder in humans. This adds to the building literature on the antidepressant effects
observed in Dextromethorphan. The report suggested the administration of other common
antidepressants with Dextromethorphan, such as lithium might prolong the duration of the rapid
antidepressant effect [19].
Although this case report illustrates that Dextromethorphan has rapid antidepressant effects in
humans, there are very few clinical trial on the effect of Dextromethorphan on major depressive
disorder. This clinical trial will be one of very few controlled evaluating the safety and efficacy of
Dextromethorphan in patients with major depressive disorder. Therefore, various assumptions will
be required to estimate sample size. This trial will focus on patient who have

The United States And The Islamic Republic Of Iran
The bilateral relationship between the United States and the Islamic Republic of Iran has dated
back to the mid 19th century when Iran was then recognized as Persia. For some time, through the
1800s and well into the 20th century, the two had a mostly positive relation. These positive
relations ended with the arrival of the 1979 Iranian revolution, which carried a heavy anti American
sentiment. The following three decades resulted in continuing degradation for the relationship
amongst the two nations. These relations digressed to a point where currently neither country has
an embassy or ambassador to the opposite country. At this time, the only influence Iranhas within
America s capitol is in section of Pakistan s embassy.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Economic Sanctions In the year 2015, trade between the two countries is all but nonexistent. The
United States has placed a multitude of sanctions on Iran because of a variety of reasons. For the
past thirty five years, the White House has issued executive orders that have continued to split the
two governments. Beginning in 1979, when radicals in Iran s capitol, Tehran, stormed the United
States Embassy and took American citizens hostage, executive orders have frequently been
handed down aimed to curb Iran s actions. In 1979, President Carter expressed that the situation
in Iran had deteriorated to a point where the nation s security, economy, and foreign policy were
in jeopardy. Because of this, Executive order 12170 was issued stating, (President Carter) hereby
order(s) blocked all property and interests in property of the Government of Iran, its
instrumentalities and controlled entities and the Central Bank of Iran which are or become subject
to the jurisdiction of the United States or which are in or come within the possession or control of
persons subject to the jurisdiction of the United States. 1 This order was the first of many that
would later be given which further separated the two countries. Following Carter s post Iranian
Revolution order, his successor, President Reagan issued Executive Order 12163 which, due to the

Machiavelli vs Islamic Political Thought
Machiavelli vs Islamic Political Thought Niccolo Machiavelli was a political realist. He thought
there were certain skills and characteristics needed to become a political ruler. In his work, The
Prince, Machiavelli gives advice on how to be a successful prince, or ruler. Successful is partly
based on how powerful a ruler was during his lifetime (reign), but largely based on how much the
princeaffected the lives, through laws or societal norms, of future generations. Machiavelli was
mainly interested in attaining and keeping political power. He believed people were inherently
selfish and would, by nature, not respect the law or work for the common good, without civic
virtues. The only way to В‘control these human urges was to instill... Show more content on

Regardless of how good a ruler Borgia was though, when the time came to install a new pope and
it wasn t his father, Borgia fell short and was no longer the ruler. While Machiavelli seemed to put
no stock in the role of the citizen in determining a ruler, he thought rulers could protect their power
by evoking the love of their people. But even this isn t enough all the time, because of the question
always asked by citizens of its government, what have you done for me lately. The ruler must
protect the citizens property, prosperity, family, and well being. For people to lead happy, full
lives, they must be allowed to do what they want, within the guidelines of a state. But this is a
cycle easier to maintain, than to begin. For people to do as they wish, there must be guidelines
in place, but for guidelines to be established, people have to know what they want to do and what
they are unable to do. Here is the reason governments were built in the first place. The group of
people chose someone to establish guidelines, because people wanted more than they had. This
is the real purpose of a ruler, to help establish a society. Machiavelli was consumed with rulers
having and keeping power, by whatever force necessary. This seems to contradict what he is
saying about the common good and civic virtues. If the ruler is only interested in power, what care
would he have for the people? None, it seems to me. According to Ian Johnston, The Prince was

I do find my values to be important to me, but I am not one to push my values onto others

Overall this analysis of my personality seems to be pretty accurate with a few traits from the
ISFP category as well. Myers and Briggs created a personality test that not only will help people
to figure out their personality types, but at the same time it aids in the discovery of which
career pathways people should take based on their specific personality traits. Based on the
personality trait INFP that was given to me from the Myer Briggs test I have quite a few career
pathways that fit my personality. Some of the career choices suited to my personality is a
writer, counselor, teacher/professor, psychologist, psychiatrist, musician, or a religious worker;

Hamlet Strengths And Weaknesses
Strength is essential to overcome obstacles, however people in similar circumstances may have
disparate decisions, leading to various outcomes and consequences. In spite of all challenges,
discouragements and impossibilities; strength distinguishes a strong soul from a weak one.
Through the literatures of William Shakespeare, Miriam Toews and Lawrence Hill, it is evident that
ethics and morality play an important role in affecting decisions of the main characters. Assuredly,
Hamlet, Naomi and Aminata, participate in situations where their courage is tested to its fullest,
impacting their fate; for the better and for the worse. Despite bearing cultural and periodic
differences, Hamlet by William Shakespeare, A Complicated Kindnessby Miriam Toews and The
Book of Negroes by Lawrence Hill all demonstrate judgements that enrich and destroy the lives of
the protagonists and of those around them. Firstly, Hamlet in Hamlet shows dreadful judgement
by consuming himself in revengeance, resulting in his own downfall. Hamlet becomes obsessed
with avenging his uncle, King Claudius for murdering his father, King Hamlet. As a result of this,
corruption takes hold of Hamlet s life, in which it becomes full of hatred, reprisal and bloodlust.
Hamlet questions himself of which act is more noble. Is it more noble to suffer from the wrong
deeds that one has done onto another or if it is more noble to end the suffering by fighting? In this
soliloquy, it is clear that Hamlet is torn between

Roller Coaster Descriptive Essay
It was a beautiful, sunny day in the middle of August. The sun was just rising as we prepared to
embark on our journey to King s Island. My family of five packed into the car, full of excitement
and giddiness. It was a two hour trip but we beamed the whole way. It was my sister and I s first
time on a roller coaster! Previously, we had researched videos of every single coaster at the park.
We were very prepared. My family gazed at the oncoming road, our path to happiness. Finally,
we arrived in the parking lot, absolutely swarming with cars. Every one of us ran to the gate and
gave the attendant our tickets. Free at last! The symbol for me was a rollercoaster which, to me,
represents courage. At this point we were in the park and ready to explore. Before going on any
roller coasters we got a park map and found the tallest coaster. The Diamondback. My family
raced over and to my surprise, the line was incredibly short! So we got on The Diamondback and
started going up the hill. It was the tallest rollercoaster in the park and you could see everything
in King s Island. So after that we got off and walked to the coaster we ve all been waiting for.
The Banshee, the one with loops, the one I ve never been on in my life. At first, I was too nervous
to even get in line for The Banshee but my family pressured me until I went with them. This line
was a little longer and it gave me too much time to think. Standing there for almost an hour listening
to the screams of passengers

The Importance Of College Sports
College sports continue to be one of the largest businesses in America, with millions of viewers,
jobs, and players. For the countless numbers of amateur athletes, college sporting events represent
high quality competition, education about the sport, and shear excitement of cheering on the
favorite team. Although sporting equality differs in the minds of people, I encourage athletes to
focus on the academic side of school. Within all the publicity these highly recruited players receive,
the rules appear to bend based on the students athletic ability. Even with collegefootball being the
third most popular sport in America, I firmly disapprove that the academic standard for athletes
should be lowered. I do like to party when the sun comes out. On many LSU football teams, half
of the players make up a group called special admits ; this means large groups of athletes do not
gain the academic knowledge and achievements as the normal students do. The undeniable issue
brought forth by colleges doing this is that no matter how talented a player is, they will not be able
to play any sport their entire lives; therefore, it is impeccable that every college athlete receives a
desirable education. The National Collegiate Athletic Association(NCAA) voted to increase
academic standards for athletes, reduce the amount of money players receive, and limited practice
time so school work acquires the majority of their day. As long as academic budgets are miniscule

Heavy Metal Assessment Of Cosmetic Products Essay
Heavy metal assessment of some cosmetic products by ICP/OES
Abstract:
It has been shown that heavy metals toxicity to humans is as a result of long term or high level
exposure to pollutants common in the environment including the air, water, food and numerous
consumer products such as the cosmetics and toiletries. Cosmetics are seen as one of the most
important sources of releasing heavy metals into the environment and the human biological
system. Thus Cosmetic products must not be harmful under normal or foreseeable conditions of
use. Four different samples of cosmetics (Foundation, Kohl, Blusher, and Lipstick) were
analyzed in Al Madina SAES laboratory for water and food analysis to determine the levels of
heavy metals (As, Pb, Zn, Hg, and Cu) in the products. Concentrations of the selected heavy metals
were determined by using inductively coupled plasma/optical emission spectroscopy (ICP/OES).
As and Cu were not found in all samples except in foundation sample found in concentration
0.0056 ppm for as and 0.006116 ppm for Cu, lead ranged between 0.03 0.92 ppm. Mercury ranged
between 0.04 1.49 ppm, and Zinc ranged between 0.026 0.091ppm.

consumers on a daily basis. These products are directly applied to human skin and mainly produce
local exposure to certain ingredients. Numerous consumer products like cosmetics and toiletries

Theme Of Manipulation In The Truman Show
Peter Weir s 1998 film, The Truman show effectively manages to portray the message of audience
manipulation both through the internal and external audiences of the show. This essay will be
critically analyzing the techniques used to manipulate the audience in The Truman Show . Firstly,
by analyzing the sound techniques, then by analyzing the camera shots used. Finally, by discussing
how the symbolism used manages to successfully manipulate the audience s views. There will now
be three critical and analytical arguments supporting the statement that The Truman Showmanages
to effectively manipulate the audience.
In the Truman Show, the theme of audience manipulation is demonstrated through the use of
sound. Non diegetic sound is used when Truman is too scared to go on the boat that will take him
to Harbor Island. Heavy repetitive beats are used in the background to showcase Truman s fear of
the ocean. These sounds manage to give the audience a similar feeling to what Truman would be
feeling at that moment. However, diegetic sound is also used effectively throughout the film in
order to inform the audience about the sounds used in the story itself. Diegetic sound is used in the
scene where Lauren (Sylvia) is taken away by her so called father. In this scene, the actors are in
distress and start shouting and sharing their emotions, whilst still manipulating the audience
through these very emotions. The use of non diegetic sound in the Truman Show is highly
manipulative as it takes the audience into the world of Truman by making them feel the same
emotions of fear as Truman. The use of sound in the background makes it evident that its main
purpose is to manipulate the viewers emotions. It is then evident that the use of sound in the
Truman show is highly manipulative over the audience as it forces them to also feel the same
emotions as Truman. It is highly effective as the non diegetic sound is merely focused on affecting
the viewers.
In the Truman show, the theme of audience manipulation is greatly portrayed through the different
camera shots used. The director uses many different camera shots to emphasize specific actions
throughout the film. Eye level shots, close up shots, and high angle shots are

The Five Arguments For The Existence Of God
The evaluation of the five arguments made clear that a perfect being, God, must exist in all possible
circumstances in order to satisfy the definition of perfection. The Argument from Motion, The
Argument from Efficient Cause, The Argument to Necessary Being, The Argument from
Gradation, and The Argument from Design are considered the five ways Thomas acknowledge if

one proves that God does or does not exist. Logically, each argument can be denied or accepted.
Consequently, people can choose to believe whatever they want. However, it is a personal belief

Christopher Weaver on Obamacare
This article by Christopher Weaver in the Wall Street Journal brings up some key points about the
number of enrollees in Obamacare as the enrollment deadline closed on Monday. Along the way,
the website has had its downfalls with the Congress shut down and technical issues. This may have
hindered the number of people who potentially would have signed up but got frustrated during the
process. It has been estimated that 7.1 million people have enrolled in the market place. The
impact of this number on the health law is yet to be determined. It also is unseen how this will
impact premiums in the long run, as well as if these insurancecompanies can maintain the plans
offered on the exchange (Weaver, 2014). Furthermore, the effect of many of the provisions and
mandates are yet to be seen; it will be an interesting next few years to see how it pans out. For
example, Weaver asks how many of these millions were previously uninsured. The main point of
the Affordable Care Act (ACA) was to attract the uninsured population to get insurance under the
law. Prior to the implementation of the ACA, there were over 50 million uninsured in America. It
is worth knowing how many of these people were just switching plans or how many of them are
new to the health insurance market. This would be the better measure of the effectiveness of this
law in regard to decreasing the total number of uninsured in America. Even though this will still

The City Is The Nuclear Power Plant
The day began like any other. A city full of life woke up to continue its normal routine. Early
morning sunlight glinted off of surroundings along the horizon. Shiny cars crawled through the
streets. Pedestrians exited their homes and walked along the sidewalks. Bright, luscious green trees
and colorful gardens lined the streets. Children crossed the roads to get to their favorite
playgrounds. Teenagers headed to the beaches that bordered a lake in the center of town. Massive
concrete flats, serving as apartment buildings, created grids throughout the city. As usual, workers
constructed new buildings for an ever growing community. A giant Ferris wheel, one of the city s
most iconic landmarks, towered over the fairgrounds in the distance. Statues stood in the many
public squares that occupied space between buildings. One of the most noticeable features of the
city is the nuclear powerplant, centrally located near the middle of the metropolis. The town of
Pripyat, Ukraine, home to almost fifty thousand people, was developing into a model city. Little
did the citizens know that their lives were about to change. In the case of the Chernobyl nuclear
reactor accident in 1986, the calamity came as a complete and utter shock to the people involved.

Ghetto Life Under the Nazis
The term ghettos was first used in relation to Jews in the year 1516 when the Venetian government
designated a specified living area for its Jewish population. During World War II, they were
established by the Nazis to isolate and control the Jews as a first step in their eventual annihilation (
Ghettos ). Throughout the War, the Nazis established over 400 ghettos in Eastern Europe and
Russia for this purpose. The Nazi ghetto overseers appointed Jewish councils, called the Judenrat, to
maintain order in the ghettos, distribute food rations and to assist the Nazis with deportations to the

In the Lodz ghetto, people suffered similarly. Blanka Rothschild recalled that she managed to
acquire a single glove in the ghetto. She passed her glove around to her friends and family, each

Emmanuel Ringelbaum, a Warsaw ghetto inhabitant who recorded daily occurrences and
conditions of the ghetto, explained that cold and shivering Jews felt helpless as they watched others
suffer from the cold. He lamented that the most fearful sight ... [was] that of freezing children,
[standing] dumbly weeping in the street with bare feet, bare knees and torn clothing. (Dawidowicz

The cramped conditions, meager food rations and general lack of cleanliness caused rampant
disease throughout the ghettos. Persistent hunger, intense labor, and constant fear of deportation
caused an inflated number of heart and circulatory system diseases among the ghetto Jews. The
ghettos lacked adequate amounts of medicine to treat the thousands of Jews suffering from typhus,
dysentery, tuberculosis, diphtheria, scarlet fever, trachoma, meningitis, and other diseases, and
many of them perished as a result. In the Lodz ghetto alone, 7,269 people died from tuberculosis

  • 2. Comparing Smartphone Vs Smart Phones Smartphones are overtaking the technology world by making it easier for people to communicate with each other every day; and everything they need to do can be done right on their smartphones. Instead of having to use cameras to take pictures, computers to send emails and to play games it all can be done on one simple device; the smartphone. A big debate that still has not been settled is whether iPhones are better or if Samsungs are better. Most people would say iPhones are better than Samsungs, however, Samsungs are the better smartphones. While both phones meet the basic phone requirements such as calling and texting, Samsung is better because it does everything the iPhonecan and more. However, Samsung does a better job at meeting people s needs because it has everything the iPhone has plus more. Samsung is a better phone than the iPhone because it can set custom ringtones for different phone contacts, it also encourages multitasking with apps which allows work to get done faster, and an ID is not needed to call or text people. This is important because people will know when to pick up the phone based on the ringtone that has been assigned to a specific person. First of all, Samsungs have better and longer lasting battery life than iPhones do. Samsungs also have the ability to remove the battery from the phone and it also has fast charging so that the phone can be used as many times as needed without the problem of the battery running out. For instance, there s no ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Making Extraordinary Wine From California s Best Vineyards One of the few remaining family owned wineries in the nation, Kendall Jackson Winery, Ltd. is one of California s largest and fastest growing wine companies. The company produces approximately 1.7 million cases of wineannually from the fruits of its more than 10,000 acres of vineyards, and exports to at least 40 countries worldwide. These products always maintain their original natural flavors of their origin, (California) either as a regional blend or specific vineyard. Kendall Jackson consolidated its control over its supply chain by investing in barrel production and handling its own distribution. Mr. Jackson was also a pioneer in establishing sustainable farming practices in the vineyards. Supply Chain at Kendall Jackson The supply chain for this family owned business differs from the general wine supply chain explained above given that their main strategy is to centralize and consolidate themselves several of the stages in this process to maximize product quality. 1. Grape Grower Kendall Jackson vineyards include 10,545 acres throughout California coastal regions, mountains, ridges, hillsides and bench lands. These sites help draw a rich palette of aromas and flavors to handcraft wines of exceptional depth and complexity. They currently grow Chardonnay, Cabernet Sauvignon, Sauvignon Blanc, Pinot Noir, Zinfandel, Riesling, and Merlot varietals. Kendall Jackson uses sustainable agricultural methods ensuring that their vineyards will keep producing the highest quality fruit for generations to come. Each vineyard lot is kept separate at the winery, so it can truly capture the essence of each vineyard site. Virtually all of the grapes (99 percent) that go into making Kendall Jackson s wines come from two climatic zones in California, on land that stretches from Mendocino in the ... Research Paper On Titanic Famous Ships that Sank Did you know that only 36.1% of people on board, passengers and crew, survived the Titanic?Or that 200 people went blind because of the halifax Harbour Disaster. When ships sink,it can change lives and is a very sad tragedy. Here in this paper you ll learn about what happened to 3 different ships,The Titanic,Le Joola, and the Mont Blanc. Now this paragraph will tell you what happened to the Titanic.A ship called the Titanic was built on May 31,1911 and set off on it s voyage on April 10,1912.With everyone on board,it departed from South Hampton with over 2000 people hoping to get to America.Sadly, the large ship was only 400 miles from land when it hit an iceberg.Inside the vessel, the crew got 6 ice warnings before impact. While everyone on board was panicking, the ship was sinking,in fact it took 2 hours and 40 minutes to sink.It was called the ship of dreams before this happened, but now it sounds like something that could only exist in a nightmare. After the Titanic the world was shaken,in fact it was almost how the country reacted to 9/11.Only 706 out of 2208 on board survived. What is sad to think about is that 53.4% more could have survived if people weren t in such a panic.Even though 105 years have passed many remember a... Lynching is defined as to take the law into its own hands and kill someone in punishment for a crime or a presumed crime. Ida B. Wells amp;#8217; back round made her a logical spokespersonagainst lynching. She drew on many experiences throughout her life to aid in her crusade. Her position as a black woman, however, affected her credibility both in and out of America in a few different ways. Her parents nurtured the background of this crusader to make her a great spokesperson. She also held positions throughout her life that allowed her to learn a lot about lynching. She was ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Her energetic campaign for truth and justice gave her a lot of attention to fuel her crusade. All these factors support the fact that her background made her an ample spokes person for the anti lynching campaign. Adding to her credibility, personal experiences also gave her more of a drive to continue her crusade. She became a leading community activist through a sequence of events. In 1884 Ida was riding a train in a first class car, when she was asked to move to the smoking car. When she refused, two conductors tried to physically move her. She instead got off the train and filed a discrimination lawsuit. The lawsuit was initially won, but the Tennessee Supreme Court overturned the verdict. After the train incident, in 1889, Ida went to The Free Speech paper; this is where her most promising worked developed. In 1892, three of her friends were brutally killed during a lynching. This one particular event opened the eyes of Wells and prompted her to write some of her most controversial works yet. However this type of writing got the Free Speech office ransacked and destroyed. The other owner of the Free Speech barely escaped with his life, but he carried the message that if Ida were to show her face ever again in Tennessee she would be killed. Now with all this ammunition based on personal experience, even as an African American woman, she had gained credibility to be able to speak with ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 6. Leo Tolstoy The Three Hermits In the short story The Three Hermits Leo Tolstoy illustrates how faith in God does not derive from the complexity of one s prayer or doctrine, but rather from the simplicity and humbleness in one s heart to be genuinely faithful and all serving to him. The story consists of three religious hermits, who have chosen a life of simplistic isolation. Also, there is this bishop on a pilgrimage to spread the word of god, he hears about these hermits that live on a small island in search of the salvation of their souls (275). As a holy man himself, the priest had no choice but to see these hermits for himself and educate them about true doctrine. The three hermits were men who had sacrifice their entire lives to God. Tolstoy portrays their sacrifice by the men s descriptions. They were extremely old, the fisherman stated that one s must have been at least hundred years old. They were wearing tattered peasant clothes. One was even described to have a beard to his knees. They lived in their humble island without the need of materialistic possessions. They showed no signs of greed, lust, gluttony, they were true men of god. Also, the men showed great humbleness through their charity. When the fisherman got stranded on the Hermit s island they welcomed him. The hermits helped him mend his... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... • 7. Essay On The Paradox Of Slavery Which came first, the chicken or the egg, slavery or racism? The question of whether racism is the root of slavery, or if slavery caused racism is an ongoing debate that throughout history historians has been batting to answer, and have yet to come to an agreement. Some people think that people were made slaves because of prejudice toward the color of their skin, therefore, racism caused slavery; others believe that people saw slaves as inferior to them, and therefore slavery caused racism. Jordan s The Mutual Causation of Racism and Slavery , Morgan s The Paradox of Slavery and Freedom and Bacon s Rebellion helps us see where the separation between white and black slaves began in America. Slavery and racism are interconnecting, but by looking at the sources and articles, we can see that slavery caused racism. The article of Jordan s The Mutual Causation of Racism and Slavery helps to look at not only two sides of the discussion, but also a third side, that both racial prejudice and slavery work hand in hand. The Article The Paradox of Slavery also helps us see how slavery and racism connect. The first side in The Mutual Causation of Racism and Slavery shows that slavery causes racism. When people first started migrating to America, most Africans were equal to the English settlers. It is equally clear that a substantial number of Virginia s Negroes were free or became free. Susan is an important historical figure who proves mankind cares about others and takes notice of them. Susan chose to do good in the world by speaking out for equal rights, and mankind has chosen to do good and listen to her. While some people may argue that Susan B. Without Anthony, women would not be allowed to vote and would be viewed as ignoble compared to men. The Byzantine Empire was also called Eastern Roman Empire, so this proves that it was a continuation of the Roman Empire, but they were speaking Greek, and did not forget about the Greek tradition. According to Browning, the physicians during the Byzantine Empirelike Oreibasios, who was the Emperor Julian s physician and friend , use the scientific and old version of Greek medicine to treat patients, and this means that medical doctors did not forget about their Greek roots. Starting from Basil I, a Byzantine Emperor between 867 and 886, the Byzantine Empire entered its Golden Age, and according to Browning, Basil I established a very good Empire time that would last two centuries with his precious energy and rules. After decades, this Golden Age began to give place to decline because, according to Browning, within the eleventh century, the attitudes and the thoughts that were primitive, spoilt, and lack of imagination of the future of the Empire began to become strong among the aristocratic society, and this began to harm Byzantine s economic and military power. This kind of harm to the centralized government of the Byzantine Empire did not show itself as a poisonous snake till 1060 because the Empire could not function itself as usual. Many white investors, however, used the Chinese as scapegoats for this statewide depression, fueling the anti Chinese fire and leading to more hostility towards Chinese workers. The firsthand account of Lee Chew, a Chinese immigrant to America in the early 1880s, shows the disparities between the white man s perception of Chinese laborers and reality as well as the hostility that arose as a result. When Lee first arrived in America, he started working as a housekeeper for a family in California, being paid $3.50 a week and being able to keep 50 cents afterwards. For Lee and other Chinese immigrants, they believed the hostility arose from jealousy in the labor market, because he [Chinese worker] is a more faithful worker than one of their people, [and they] have raised such a great outcry about Chinese cheap labor that they have shut him [Chinese worker] out of working on farms or in factories or building railroads or making streets or digging sewers. But even this isn t enough all the time, because of the question always asked by citizens of its government, what have you done for me lately. The ruler must protect the citizens property, prosperity, family, and well being. For people to lead happy, full lives, they must be allowed to do what they want, within the guidelines of a state. But this is a cycle easier to maintain, than to begin. For people to do as they wish, there must be guidelines in place, but for guidelines to be established, people have to know what they want to do and what they are unable to do. Here is the reason governments were built in the first place. The group of people chose someone to establish guidelines, because people wanted more than they had. This is the real purpose of a ruler, to help establish a society. Machiavelli was consumed with rulers having and keeping power, by whatever force necessary. • 27. Hamlet Strengths And Weaknesses Strength is essential to overcome obstacles, however people in similar circumstances may have disparate decisions, leading to various outcomes and consequences. In spite of all challenges, discouragements and impossibilities; strength distinguishes a strong soul from a weak one. Through the literatures of William Shakespeare, Miriam Toews and Lawrence Hill, it is evident that ethics and morality play an important role in affecting decisions of the main characters. Assuredly, Hamlet, Naomi and Aminata, participate in situations where their courage is tested to its fullest, impacting their fate; for the better and for the worse. Despite bearing cultural and periodic differences, Hamlet by William Shakespeare, A Complicated Kindnessby Miriam Toews and The Book of Negroes by Lawrence Hill all demonstrate judgements that enrich and destroy the lives of the protagonists and of those around them. Firstly, Hamlet in Hamlet shows dreadful judgement by consuming himself in revengeance, resulting in his own downfall. Hamlet becomes obsessed with avenging his uncle, King Claudius for murdering his father, King Hamlet. As a result of this, corruption takes hold of Hamlet s life, in which it becomes full of hatred, reprisal and bloodlust. Hamlet questions himself of which act is more noble. • 29. Roller Coaster Descriptive Essay It was a beautiful, sunny day in the middle of August. The sun was just rising as we prepared to embark on our journey to King s Island. My family of five packed into the car, full of excitement and giddiness. It was a two hour trip but we beamed the whole way. It was my sister and I s first time on a roller coaster! Previously, we had researched videos of every single coaster at the park. We were very prepared. My family gazed at the oncoming road, our path to happiness. Finally, we arrived in the parking lot, absolutely swarming with cars. Every one of us ran to the gate and gave the attendant our tickets. Free at last! The symbol for me was a rollercoaster which, to me, represents courage. At this point we were in the park and ready to explore. Before going on any roller coasters we got a park map and found the tallest coaster. The Diamondback. My family raced over and to my surprise, the line was incredibly short! So we got on The Diamondback and started going up the hill. It was the tallest rollercoaster in the park and you could see everything in King s Island. So after that we got off and walked to the coaster we ve all been waiting for. The Banshee, the one with loops, the one I ve never been on in my life. At first, I was too nervous to even get in line for The Banshee but my family pressured me until I went with them. This line was a little longer and it gave me too much time to think. • 31. The Importance Of College Sports College sports continue to be one of the largest businesses in America, with millions of viewers, jobs, and players. For the countless numbers of amateur athletes, college sporting events represent high quality competition, education about the sport, and shear excitement of cheering on the favorite team. Although sporting equality differs in the minds of people, I encourage athletes to focus on the academic side of school. Within all the publicity these highly recruited players receive, the rules appear to bend based on the students athletic ability. Even with collegefootball being the third most popular sport in America, I firmly disapprove that the academic standard for athletes should be lowered. I do like to party when the sun comes out. On many LSU football teams, half of the players make up a group called special admits ; this means large groups of athletes do not gain the academic knowledge and achievements as the normal students do. The undeniable issue brought forth by colleges doing this is that no matter how talented a player is, they will not be able to play any sport their entire lives; therefore, it is impeccable that every college athlete receives a desirable education. The National Collegiate Athletic Association(NCAA) voted to increase academic standards for athletes, reduce the amount of money players receive, and limited practice time so school work acquires the majority of their day. • 32. Heavy Metal Assessment Of Cosmetic Products Essay Heavy metal assessment of some cosmetic products by ICP/OES Abstract: It has been shown that heavy metals toxicity to humans is as a result of long term or high level exposure to pollutants common in the environment including the air, water, food and numerous consumer products such as the cosmetics and toiletries. Cosmetics are seen as one of the most important sources of releasing heavy metals into the environment and the human biological system. Thus Cosmetic products must not be harmful under normal or foreseeable conditions of use. Four different samples of cosmetics (Foundation, Kohl, Blusher, and Lipstick) were analyzed in Al Madina SAES laboratory for water and food analysis to determine the levels of heavy metals (As, Pb, Zn, Hg, and Cu) in the products. Concentrations of the selected heavy metals were determined by using inductively coupled plasma/optical emission spectroscopy (ICP/OES). As and Cu were not found in all samples except in foundation sample found in concentration 0.0056 ppm for as and 0.006116 ppm for Cu, lead ranged between 0.03 0.92 ppm. Mercury ranged between 0.04 1.49 ppm, and Zinc ranged between 0.026 0.091ppm. 1. Introduction: Personal care products and facial cosmetics are commonly used by millions of consumers on a daily basis. • 33. Theme Of Manipulation In The Truman Show Peter Weir s 1998 film, The Truman show effectively manages to portray the message of audience manipulation both through the internal and external audiences of the show. This essay will be critically analyzing the techniques used to manipulate the audience in The Truman Show . Firstly, by analyzing the sound techniques, then by analyzing the camera shots used. Finally, by discussing how the symbolism used manages to successfully manipulate the audience s views. There will now be three critical and analytical arguments supporting the statement that The Truman Showmanages to effectively manipulate the audience. In the Truman Show, the theme of audience manipulation is demonstrated through the use of sound. Non diegetic sound is used when Truman is too scared to go on the boat that will take him to Harbor Island. Heavy repetitive beats are used in the background to showcase Truman s fear of the ocean. These sounds manage to give the audience a similar feeling to what Truman would be feeling at that moment. However, diegetic sound is also used effectively throughout the film in order to inform the audience about the sounds used in the story itself. Diegetic sound is used in the scene where Lauren (Sylvia) is taken away by her so called father. In this scene, the actors are in distress and start shouting and sharing their emotions, whilst still manipulating the audience through these very emotions. The use of non diegetic sound in the Truman Show is highly manipulative as it takes the audience into the world of Truman by making them feel the same emotions of fear as Truman. The use of sound in the background makes it evident that its main purpose is to manipulate the viewers emotions. It is then evident that the use of sound in the Truman show is highly manipulative over the audience as it forces them to also feel the same emotions as Truman. It is highly effective as the non diegetic sound is merely focused on affecting the viewers. In the Truman show, the theme of audience manipulation is greatly portrayed through the different camera shots used. The director uses many different camera shots to emphasize specific actions throughout the film. Eye level shots, close up shots, and high angle shots are ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The Argument from Motion, The Argument from Efficient Cause, The Argument to Necessary Being, The Argument from Gradation, and The Argument from Design are considered the five ways Thomas acknowledge if Goddoes or does not existence. Through reading Aquinas s work, it is hard to determine which one proves that God does or does not exist. Logically, each argument can be denied or accepted. • 38. Christopher Weaver on Obamacare This article by Christopher Weaver in the Wall Street Journal brings up some key points about the number of enrollees in Obamacare as the enrollment deadline closed on Monday. Along the way, the website has had its downfalls with the Congress shut down and technical issues. This may have hindered the number of people who potentially would have signed up but got frustrated during the process. It has been estimated that 7.1 million people have enrolled in the market place. The impact of this number on the health law is yet to be determined. It also is unseen how this will impact premiums in the long run, as well as if these insurancecompanies can maintain the plans offered on the exchange (Weaver, 2014). Furthermore, the effect of many of the provisions and mandates are yet to be seen; it will be an interesting next few years to see how it pans out. For example, Weaver asks how many of these millions were previously uninsured. The main point of the Affordable Care Act (ACA) was to attract the uninsured population to get insurance under the law. Prior to the implementation of the ACA, there were over 50 million uninsured in America. It is worth knowing how many of these people were just switching plans or how many of them are new to the health insurance market. This would be the better measure of the effectiveness of this law in regard to decreasing the total number of uninsured in America. Early morning sunlight glinted off of surroundings along the horizon. Shiny cars crawled through the streets. Pedestrians exited their homes and walked along the sidewalks. Bright, luscious green trees and colorful gardens lined the streets. Children crossed the roads to get to their favorite playgrounds. Teenagers headed to the beaches that bordered a lake in the center of town. Massive concrete flats, serving as apartment buildings, created grids throughout the city. As usual, workers constructed new buildings for an ever growing community. A giant Ferris wheel, one of the city s most iconic landmarks, towered over the fairgrounds in the distance. Statues stood in the many public squares that occupied space between buildings. One of the most noticeable features of the city is the nuclear powerplant, centrally located near the middle of the metropolis.
