Women Hunted By The Lenape Women
The Lenape women did most of the farming and the men hunted. They harvested corn, squash
and beans, hunted for deer, elk, turkeys, small game and caught fish in the rivers. Three of the
most important crops planted by the Lenape included corn, beans, and squash. These crops were
known as The Three Sisters by many of the eastern woodland tribes. The corn was boiled, baked,
or fried and used to make soup, bread, and puddings. The beans were boiled or fried, made into
soups, or added with their meat dishes. The Lenape believed that people were entitled to what they
trapped or gathered, but foodwas to be shared with others and no one should go hungry. They
offered visitors food, and in turn, they always ate what was given to them.

The History Of Police And African Americans Essay
African Americans in modern America have bound together in unity against inequality to help
end the unnecessary murders and unjust police beatings. However, where did these tensions
between police and African Americans begin? This question can be answered by looking at the
history of police in America and why they were originally established. Police first came on to the
scene in 1704 when Carolina established the nation s first slave patrol that would turn into what
we know today as the modern police. The slave patrol had the duty of searching for runaway
slaves and returning them to their masters. Therefore, the original reason the police force was
established was to deal with black slaves and it seems as if some officers today still hold that as
their job title. However, this was just the beginning to the negative police encounters that many
African Americans would have to endure. With the ratification of the 13th amendment and the
freeing of the slaves the slave patrol became what is known as modern day police. During
reconstruction the police began a war to create a new form of slavery, this form of slavery was
known as convict leasing. Although, the 13th amendment legalized the enslavement of anyone
convicted of a crime it seemed as if it was only used against African Americans. This new method
of enslavement sky rocketed the rate of African Americanarrests and created new laws in the south
such as the pig laws which sentenced anyone who stole a pig to 5 years in

Tangerine Competitiveness Quotes
If winning isn t everything, then why do they keep score? Vince Lombardi I think this quote
represents competitiveness because when you re playing with your friends at the park usually you
just play for fun while on an actual court you play to win and you don t feel good no matter how
hard you tried in the gameif you lose, you feel mad. Victor shows a lot of this he tries his best but
when he wins he is happy because he put in the work and he got the win, when he loses then he
is frustrated because he played his heart out and still lost. So how Victor and Joey act about
different times depends on how he does in soccer. Sportsmanship in Tangerine is mixed some

The Dutch Republic
Introduction The Dutch republic came to be when part of the Netherlands separated from Spanish
rule in 1579 and gained international recognition in 1648. It was characterized by its high
population density (which is a continuity to this day), and its early, high level of urbanization. From
the 16th to 18th centuries, the Dutch rose to power comparable to even Britain and France. This
was also the period of time when world trade flourished and linked continents, acquiring the name
global trade. In fact, the Dutch republic experienced such growth and improvement that the 17th
century was the Dutch golden age. During the golden age, trade, military, art, and science
flourished. This all led to a domination in trade, production of ships, etc.
Western Europe After the split of the Roman Empire, the western half fell as the east prospered.
Then in the medieval period, the catholic western European states emerged stronger than ever,
causing the distinction between roman catholic/protestant vs eastern orthodox in Europe. Western
Europe was made up of competitive states that came to play major roles. The Dutch republic
managed to become largely influential and powerful through trade. As previously mentioned,
competitiveness was and still is a characteristic of Western Europe. Since the Dutch focused on ship
building to support the trade they were beginning to be a part of.
Through this time period emerged the Columbian exchange and some European states also took an

Element 80 History
Element 80, or mercury, is an element with quite an interesting and extensive history. I chose this
particular element because of this. I have a basic knowledge of mercury already, but I would
love to learn all that I can about it. I enjoy history and I take advantage of every opportunity I can
to learn more about it and from it. I am interested in this element because of the name it was given,
the uses we have and have had in the past for it, and the fact that the atomic numberis 80, which
includes two of my favorite numbers. As previously stated, mercury is number 80 on the periodic
table of elements. It is a metal, a transition metal to be exact. It has a symbol of Hg , an atomic
mass of 200.59, and there are 7 known stable isotopes... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The shiny metallic silver color, soft malleable consistency, and quick mobility make it fun for
young and curious children. Mercury was sold as a child s toy for many years. It could be bought
in a science kit or individually with the label of Quicksilver. Kids would collect it and play with it
like we play with modern slime. It would seep in through their skin and enter their blood supply, or
they would ingest it by touching their mouth, or face in general, after touching the substance.
Parents eventually linked their children s illness to mercury and it was discovered that the toy was
indeed poisonous; therefore everyone that came into contact with it was infected with Mercury

China s Devaluation Of Its Currency
China s devaluation of its currency has been causing headlines, but what are the effects on its
tourism? Are the Chinese likely to swap outbound tourism with inbound travel?
China s decision to devalue its currency in quick succession during the second week of August
caused headlines around the globe. The decision sent shockwaves, with the effects still unravelling
today. Tourismis among the industries feeling the heat. Will the weaker yuan mean the boom in
China s outbound tourism is over?
China s outbound tourism is on a strong footing. Over 100 million Chinese people made a trip
abroad last year. Data by the World Tourism Organisation (UNWTO) Chinese tourists increased
their spending by 27% to reach $165 million in 2014.
Much of the shopping spree and travel has been driven by the strength of the Chinese currency and
the increase in Chinese wealth. In Europe, the yuan had strengthened 15% against the euro since
the start of 2014. Now, some of this strength is gone. But is it enough to trouble outbound tourism?
Trouble for some
China s downward move to devalue was the biggest since the mass devaluation in 1994 and
together with the economic slowdown caused concern across many industries. The decision to
devalue the currency by 4% could mean long term wobble in the exchange rates, which could mean
trouble for tourists.
If Chinese tourists can expect less value for their yuan, they could start thinking twice about
travelling abroad. But the current devaluation is

Essay Comparison of Three First World War Poems
Comparison of Three First World War Poems
The three poems that I will be studying in this essay are Dulce Et Decorum Est by Wilfred
Owen, Comrades: An Episode by Robert Nichols and Who s For The Game? by Jessie Pope.
These poems are about the First World War and two of them seem to have a negative attitude
criticising and downgrading the so called spectacular experience of the First World War. In Dulce
Et Decorum Est Wilfred Owen seems to mention good aspects of the War but compares them to
low class tragic events. In Comrades: An Episode Robert Nichols describes the event of a soldier
being badly injured and eventually dying. It describes what the corporals and soldiers did and how

In the second poem, Comrades: An Episode the same picture comes to mind by using different
techniques. The poem is written in the style of a story, which gives the writer more opportunity
to include descriptions and details. In this poem the narrator is the leader of a group of men and
he mentions names and, as he knows his men so well, he can create and describe vivid pictures of
them, such as Not to see them: Wilkinson, Stubby, Grim. Other ways he describes his men is by
the speech they use regularly. Who s For the Game? shows the thoughts that Jessie Pope has
towards the war; she views the war as very straight forward and simple; join the army, fight, win,
then go home. There is some reality points in the text even though they are understated, such as;
It won t be a picnic not much ,
and
Come back with a crutch .
This second quote is very misleading, Pope is saying that a crutch is the about the worst thing that
could happen when over a million Englishmen died fighting for their country. She uses metaphors
in her poem including the title of the poem. In the title Who s For The Game? was has been
compared to an enjoyable experience making the war seem less scary, and making people become
more eager to go.
Dulce Et Decorum Est has four verses, all of

Heroin And Its Effects On The Brain
Heroin, a chemical imposter, is an illegal, extremely addictive drug derived from opium. Heroin
can reach the brain by methods of injection, nasal inhalation, or smoked. In our brain there are
many receptor sites, each site specific for different neurotransmitters. In this paper I will refer to
the opiate receptor. Naturally, our brain is responsible for making endorphins, a natural opiate of
the body. These endorphins are the feel good chemical sensations in the brain, when we are
exposed to pain or stress. Heroinmimics the opium chemical, creating the effect of pleasure and
euphoric feelings. I will look into how heroin affects the cerebral cortex and how different genders
perceive and treat the effects of heroin. The opiates in... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The opioid is synthesized from morphine, and when entering the brain, heroin is converted back
to morphine. Upon entering, the once opioid, now morphine, binds to opioid receptors,
specifically in the brainstem. The brainstem is vital for controlling automatic processes vital for
life, like blood pressure, arousal, and respiration. These processes are how we continue to live;
heroin use and overdose can then lead to death by suppression of these vital life processes, such as
suppression of breathing (National Institute on Drug Abuse, 2014). While heroin undoubtedly
affects our processes of living, it also interrupts our sensations and perceptions. Users describe the
feeling of heroin as a euphoric or rush feeling. This rush reportedly last one to two minutes, where
the actual high lasts hours. Other sensations associated with heroin are reduction of anxiety and
depression, safe and warm feelings, and pain relief (Hartney, 2014). While heroin affects sensations,
it also changes motor functions, such as reaction times. In a study I examined, experimenters tested
reaction times in heroin abusers of different genders. In the experiment, researchers formulated two
groups, one control and the other heroin dependent currently in a withdrawal period; researchers
choose participants specifically on certain guidelines. For the experiment, participants were asked
to focus on a visual stimulus on a computer screen. There were asked to press a button when they

Seamore was a seal that everyone in the ocean knew. His personality and way of life made him
very hard to miss. The ocean knew him as the crazy seal that never stopped moving. Seamore
would swim all over the arctic ocean, from iceberg to iceberg as if his energy never gave out. He
lived in an igloo all by himself just a few meters off shore from the ocean. Next to his home was
a huge mountain made entirely of ice that stood over 300 feet tall. Considering the size of the
wildlife, this was a challenge not only to climb, but also to bypass. The mountain was about half of
it s height in width. Everyday, Seamore could watch other wildlife battling to get to the top of the
mountain. One day when Seamore was watching, he became inspired. He wanted to get to the top

Creating A Solid Ecommerce Marketing Strategy Essay
Niche stores offer value in a crowded marketplace.
While most companies stick to catering to the masses, specialized businesses are cornering the
market by selling unique products and services to targeted consumers.
For example, eCommerce store Beardbrand only sells beard care products, ranging from natural
beard oil to mustache wax.
To compete with mass retailers, niche stores must build up their presence within their targeted
communities. That s why creating a solid eCommerce marketing strategy is important.
Here are five ways a niche store can jumpstart its eCommerce marketing strategy:
1. Answer questions on industry specific websites.
Create a niche community by answering questions from your audience.
Research 5 10 industry specific forums and start giving away free knowledge. If it fits your market,
try offering solutions on Quora and Yahoo! Answers.
People want helpful answers. So, avoid vague responses; they won t spark conversations or entice
people to learn more about your company.
Here s an example on from the ClosingCall.io, a community forum for salespeople. Growbots
Content Marketing Manager Caroline Krolicka gives a detailed response to a commenter.
When you offer actionable suggestions, customers will come to you as a trusted source of

Natalie Watkins Analysis
Natalie Watkins is a promising young artist born in Stockton, Ca. She began to study art at an
early age, and over the years has established herself as profound human being. She considers her
style of painting as a contemporary, and her works range from gender and sexuality to social
and political issues. Her art is showcased in cafes and small venues throughout Stockton, Ca. The
untitled painting, which is one of her early works, is painted in dark colors of grey and black
portraying a figure sitting alone on a dark and stormy night. The figure sits in the pouring rain in
the middle of a street watching a small sailboat, something similar to an old fashion pirate boat,
float away down the gutter. The artist hides most of the person including their face from the view
with a large umbrella. Most of the colors are in black and grey with the exception of the figures
sweater, which is in a bright yellow and the water which is painted in blue and white.
What do I notice from the paintings is a figure sitting all alone amidst a rainy storm as if he or she
awaits change at a turning point in their life. The starkness of the painting shows the figures
emotions and feelings are strong and yet there is always sunshine after the rain. ... Show more

Matthew Mark And Luke
Introduction
The Gospels Matthew, Mark and Luke are referred to as the Synoptic Gospels because they share
a common vision of the life of Jesus. Among the fundamental issues of Gospel scholarship is the
question of their literary relationship. Because they are so alike, the question that arises is whether
any of the Gospel authors had access to the other Gospels and other potential sources to compose
their own. This paper will provide an overview of the hypothetical missing Gospel designated Q
after the German word Quelle, meaning source and if it impacts the historical reliability of the New
Testament.
What is Source Criticism?
The intention of source criticism is to expose earlier sources that may have been utilized in the
development ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Source Q is the only one that is common to Luke and Mathew. Scholars assume that Q existed
due to the large portions of Luke and Matthew are essentially identical to each other and that are
not found in Mark. While an explanation for this may be that Luke copied Matthew (or vice
versa) it would not explain the problem of why these two Gospels radically differ from one
another on other respects. If either Luke or Matthew derived their Gospel from the other, then it
would be expected that far more common material and shared themes would be present.
Therefore the majority of scholars hypothesize that Matthew and Luke shared source Q in
addition to the Gospel of Mark. Modern scholarship on Q considers it not as a single source but
instead a set of shorter sayings all of which may not have been utilized by Matthew and Luke. No
manuscript of Q has ever been found but its assumed existence is well

Blue Zones
Blue Zones is an anthropological concept that describes the characteristic lifestyles and the
environments of the world s longest lived people. They are the places in the world where people
live longer and healthier than anywhere else on earth. The four blue zones he talked about were
the Italian island of sardinia; Okinawa, Japan; Loma Linda, California; and Costa Rica s isolated
Nicoya Peninsula. One of the common factors all these places had were the eating styles. All of
them had a plant based diet. They all also lived in tribes whom were basically considered family
just in case something would have happened to them or their family, these tribe members would
be the backup plan and are the people who take care of them. So there social engagement levels
were all high due to these tribe member always being with them and being with one another. All
blue zones had a no smoking factor, which obviously caused them to live longer. My favorite
similarity they all had was they always did something active. By active i dont mean running a mile

who is 65 years old is ageing at a rate of 125 times faster than a person who is 12 years old. The
way we treat older people is also a big factor, instead of throwing someone in a retirement home,
keep them around and treat them normal. In blue zones the older you are means the more wisdom

Natural Selection Lab Report
The sixth lab I completed in Biology 101 taught me how autotrophs (self feeders) and heterotrophs
(other feeders) make organic food molecules by using photosynthesis. Photosynthesis uses the
energy from the sun and it is captured and stored in the chemical bonds of organic molecules. The
sunlight consists of different wavelengths of light. In plant chloroplasts, they have different
pigments that capture different wavelengths of light. Light capturing pigments in green plants are
called chlorophylls and these absorb all the colors of light except green, which is mostly reflected.

Stanza Della Segnatura: A Challenge to Raphael
Considered to be in the holy trinity of Renaissance painters along with Leonardo and Michelangelo,
Raphael was known to be more versatile than Michelangelo and more prolific than the older
contemporary Leonardo. Only living until the young age of 37, he definitely made his mark during
the Renaissance era with his many drawings, paintings, and pieces of architecture. But the question
to discuss is, what made his commissioned work with Pope Julius II more notable and memorable
than any other pieces he has created? This paper will cover his biography, his drawing style with a
brief overview of his surviving drawings, and one of his most notable commissions, the so called
Stanza Della Segnatura.
Biography
Born in 1483 in Urbino, Raphael, or Raphael Sanzio, was the son of Giovanni Santi, who was a
court painter. Raphael s father gave him first instruction in painting and introduced Raphael to
humanistic philosophy before his death in 1494. As a child, Raphael s brief time with his father
helped him gain a great deal of knowledge about the arts, literature, and social skills to help
Raphael move among the more elite of society and gain art commissions to boost his career as an

1994: . . . at Nyarubuye in eastern Rwanda, where the cadaver of a little girl, otherwise intact, had
been flattened by passing vehicles to the thinness of cardboard in front of the church steps,

Rwandaduring the genocide, a time when an extreme divide caused mass killings of Tutsiby the

After she was seized, she had been raped multiple times not only because of her beauty, but also
because she had been sleeping with Tutsis which therefore meant that she could sleep with the
Hutu as well (Mullins 726). The woman had been raped in front of four Interhamwe soldiers as
well as a large group of refugees. In the chaos after of the rape by Musema, the woman was
ordered to turn over from her stomach to her back and raped by multiple soldiers in turns. Her

The violence and chaos allowed for the pre existing animosities to turn into the crime of rape. The

Alfred Musema was a man who often engaged in these opportunistic rapes, which were single

Unintentional Falls-Related Injuries
The unsafe environment is the significant factors that contributed to unintentional falls related
injuries in the Hilltop community. Also, the photo and evidence have shown that people in the
Hilltop community commonly live in unsafe environments, and they are exposed to high risks that
increase their likelihood of being injured. Children and older adults are the vulnerable groups as
they have less capacity to overcome these risks. After exploring the Hilltop community, the
potential causes of unintentional fall related injury are both intrinsic and extrinsic factors. The
Intrinsic factors include individual s vulnerabilities that increase the risk of falls such as chronic
functional impairments (visual loss or physical function limitation) and acute illnesses (asthma,

The Journey as Depicted in My Place by Sally Morgan, The Road Not Taken by Robert Frost, The
Transall Saga and Pay it Forward
The inner journey is a concept that has always been debated, and so has its meaning. The word
inner has the alternative meaning of personal. Moreover, the word journey has an alternative
meaning of movement. So, the concept of the inner journey, customarily, has the meaning of a
personal movement. Inner journeys have often been described as the metaphor behind a physical
journey. The statement Journey is the reward and the idea of a personal movement are depicted
in the texts, My Place by Sally Morgan, The Road Not Taken by Robert Frost, The Transall Saga
and Pay it Forward. My Place is the autobiographical ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It must be noted that inner journeys are plagued with choices, and this is a truth and reality that
no one can escape. As Robert Frost says in The Road Not Taken , Two roads diverged in a yellow
wood.
In Sally s quest for information, she met a lady called Elsie who gave her a great depth and
insight into her Grandmother and the past. In Sally s mind, her journey was definitely rewarded
and this made her feel full inside . Sally s mother, Gladys, had also found an new sense of
fulfillment which completed her as a whole, because she was previously only half a person . For
Sally, it was her determination and stubborn nature which meant that she was rewarded, because
in her heart she realized that unless the family went on such an epic journey we never would
have known our place . Sally said What had begun as a tentative search for knowledge had grown
into a spiritual and emotional pilgrimage . This journey of self discovery, enlightenment and
acceptance, were all key discerning factors in how, for Sally, the journey was a rewarding
experience.
The Road Not Taken by Robert Frost, is another text which represents how the journey, alone, can
be a rewarding experience. The Road Not Taken, is the poem about a man who is exploring the
choices that he once had, as he made his journey through lfe. It is the

ABSTRACT
Streptococcus pneumoniae was discovered by Louis Pasteur in pneumonia patients in 1881. It is a
gram positive coccus that forms short chains or more commonly, pairs and classified in its own
genus, called Diplococcus . Streptococcus pneumonie is a pneumococcal pneumonia consists about
85 % of all cases of pneumonia. Around ninety two different strains of S. Pneumoniae, collectively
called pneumococci, are known to cause harm on humans. Streptococcus pneumonia is a member of
pharyngeal microbiota that can colonize the lungs, sinuses, and middle ear. They are round shaped,
unpigmented grown for 24 hours. The Individual cells of streptococcus are between 0.5 and 1.25
mm in diameter. They are a fastidious bacterium.
PATHOGEN CHARACTERISTICS
Streptococcus pneumoniae cells are elongated cocci. (Lancet shaped cocci). When cultured on
blood agar, it become alpha hemolytic which makes it different S. pneumoniae from the beta
hemolytic streptococcus. Colonies of Streptococcus pneumonaie grown for 24 hours are 1 3 mm
in diameter, round mucoid, un pigmented, and dimpled in the middle because of the death of
older cells. Colonies are alpha hemolytic on blood agar when grown aerobically and beta
hemolytic when grown anaerobically. This bacterium lacks Lancefield antigens but does
incorporate a species specific teichoic acid into its cell wall. Most of the time, they are

The Concept of Intelligence Essay
The Concept of Intelligence
ABSTRACT: Gilbert Ryle s dispositional analysis of the concept of intelligence makes the error of
assimilating intelligence to the category of dispositional or semi dispositional concepts. Far from
being a dispositional concept, intelligence is an episodic concept that refers neither to dispositions
nor to knowing how, but to a fashion or style of proceeding whose significance is adverbial. Being
derivative from the function of the adverb intelligently, the concept of intelligence does not have
essential reference to specific verbs but rather to the manner or style of proceeding of nearly any
verb that is descriptive of the proceedings of an agent. Intelligence words are expressive of a
manner of doing ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The dualist s reaction was to withdraw from the dispositional analysis and to claim that intelligence
can only make sense when it is ultimately linked to an alternative concept which presumably has
reference to a process (the existence of which may be ascertained by a subjective avowal: intent,
deliberation, reflective choice, etc.).
Whether this maneuver avoids the Rylean critique is subject to serious doubt. Each new term may
itself have a problem concerning the metaphysical status of its referent: whether it is a physical or a
spiritual process.
Another problem with this approach is that it often makes the concept of intelligence dependent on
factors that may have no more than a casual relation to its meaning: a contextual connection, for
example.
While a dispositional analysis of intelligence would effectively rescue it from entrapment inside the
ghost in the machine it would fail to do the concept the justice that the dualist seeks for it, and that
is to make the observation that it appears to be more an episodic than a dispositional concept.
It is in this connection that some philosophers take a critical view of Ryle s analysis. Peter Thomas
Geach, for instance, claims that reports of mental acts are categorical and are not hypothetical or
semi hypothetical statements about overt behavior. He believes the dispositional account of
psychological concepts to be on a level with the statement that opium puts people to sleep

resistance to lateral surface water flow, thus slowing otherwise potentially erosive water velocities.
Therefore, perennial turfgrasses offer one of the most cost efficient methods to control water and

Introduction:
The Wittig reaction, named after Georg Wittig, produces an alkene from an aldehyde or ketone
reacting with a phosphonium ylide (a Wittig reagent). The Wittig reaction is typically
stereoselective, which makes the Wittig reagents more difficult to work with but use of the Wittig
with different allyl substituents prove to make the Wittig more versatile which can lead to the
synthesis of a wide range of alkenes, styrenes, stilbenes, and 1,3 dienes which can then be used to
synthesize more complex bioactive compounds such as leukotrienes which are used to treat
asthma1. The Wittig reaction is also favored over other reagents because it can be used under

Goodwill Balance Sheet
GOODWILL
What is the definition of Goodwill?
Goodwill is an intangible asset that mostly appears as the biggest intangible asset on the balance
sheet. The Goodwill can only be identified with the business as a whole. Therefore, the goodwill
cannot be sold individually in the marketplace, while some other intangible assets can be sold.
Goodwill is not easy to measure, because it includes exceptional management, desirable locations,
customer relations, and so on. The determination of the Goodwill is therefore most of the time very
subjective.
Companies only record the goodwill when there is an exchange transaction the involves the
purchase of an entire business.

Goodwill booking in the balance sheet
According to Harold Averkamp (2015), Goodwill is reported on the balance sheet as a noncurrent
asset.
Since 2001, U.S. companies are no longer required/allowed to amortize the recorded amount of
goodwill.
In accounting we use the word amortization to mean the systematic allocation of a balance sheet
item to expense (or revenue) on the income statement. Harold Averkamp (2015)
The amortization of an asset means that a company is allowed to split the value of the expenses
stated in the income statement over several months instead of a one time booking.
However, the amount of goodwill is subject to a goodwill impairment test at least once per year.
The companies have to verify at least once a year if the value of their assets is aligned with the fair
value of the market.
The test verifies if the value of the assets is bigger than the market value. An adjustment is
recorded in order to bring the value of the asset at the fair value in case of inequality.

Creationism in Public Schools Essay
Creationism in Public Schools Teaching Creationism in Schools The question as to whether or not
creationism should be taught in public schools is a very emotional and complex question. It can be
looked at from several different angles, its validity being one of them. Despite the lack of evidence
to support the fundamentalist idea of creationism, that in itself is not enough to warrant its exclusion
from the curriculum of public schools in the United States. The question is far more involved and
complex.
One way to address the question is whether or not creationism, in itself, is a valid idea to be taught
in public schools. The answer to this can be yes. Not only should a student in American public
schools learn ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The problem in scientific creationism, and what I see as a reason for its exclusion from the
science classroom in public schools, is the fact that it looks as if, from the outside, the whole
theory that it rest on is simply a contortion of the traditional version of creation described in
Genesis, custom made to fit in with Darwin s theory of evolution. R. M. Hare would probably say
that scientific creationism is simply a modification of the story of creation in Genesis, to fit into
the Г’blikГ“ of the religious fundamentalist. A blik, as Hare describes it, is a pre set worldview
held by all people, in which they draw from when forming certain opinions on any particular
subject. In the case of religious fundamentalist, whose faith in the validity of the Book of
Genesis is an essential part of their blik, it becomes necessary for them to contort their literal
view of the Book of Genesis into a form that is scientifically acceptable. For this reason, creation
science still does not have a place in the science classroom of public schools.
Another problem with scientific creationism is that it would exclude the idea of a random
beginning. No theory could ever be tested to find origins because it would conflict with scientific
creationism. Scientific creationism would be, in essence, a lesson on science halting efforts to find
creation, if it is possible at all. It may, however, be acceptable as

There were many disagreements in the appearance profile of PLC during the spermatogenesis as
there is not adequate proof concerning its protein translation. Another key matter is the pattern of
localization of PLCz in the sperm. Identification of PLCz position in the sperm could help ratify
its purposeful role in sperm as well as provide a standard to study the pattern of localization of
PLCz in infertile compared with the fertile men. Trials showed that in mouse, the PLC was found
in the pellet but it was confirmed to the separate sperm ends instead of heads. While experiments
of human detected that PLC was present at round spermatid stage of spermatogenesis. In IVF
using boar sperm indicates that PLC was not present which suggest that PLC was released along
with the acrosomal cap (Aarabi, et al., 2012). This study also determine the PLCζ localization
over the head of sperm, precisely the post acrosomal area in mouse and both post acrosomal and
acrosomal area in human sperm. According to Escoffer et al., (2014) PLCζ is confined to the
postacrosomal and equatorial regions of human sperms. Zanetti and Mayorga (2009) demonstrated
that the equatorial area remains unaffected subsequent to the acrosome response, thus denying the
finding of Aarabi et al. (2012). Another study linking mouse and porcine sperm established that
PLC originates in perinuclear medium which is an oocyte penetrating region (Fujimoto, et al.,

Richard Graff s Hidden Intellectualism, By Gerald Graff
Contained within Gerald Graff s, Hidden Intellectualism, are several eye opening ideas. Graff
main point in his essay, is that non intellectual topics can be written or talked about in an
academic way. Graff uses his past stating that he has street smarts, and that it was a form
knowledge. In a way, he negatively scrutinizes the public education for overlooking the intellect
of those who aren t skilled academically. One thing that I believe is very fundamental is that he
says, They would be more prone to take on intellectual identities if we encouraged them to do so
at first on subjects that interest them rather than ones that interest us. He puts it plain and simple
that you can take street topics and make them into intellectual debates. Sport uniforms created by
Nike are feats of technology, football uniforms on the collegiate have reinvented the game. Graff
stats, Sports after all was full of challenging arguments, debates, problems for analysis. For
example, some teams wear different uniforms every week, how does this impact the way athletes
perform. Sometimes the colors or style someone makes their mental game change. This is a topic
that can lead to heated debates and scientific analysis. One collegiate football team that changes
uniforms almost every week is the The Oregon Ducks. They are always integrating the newest and
best technology, which is designed by Nike to help their players perform better. Oregon is

Childhood Memories in My Papa s Waltz by Theodore Roethke and Piano by D.H. Lawrence
My Papa s Waltz by Theodore Roethke and Piano by D.H. Lawrence are two poems in which
grown men recall memories of their childhood. My Papa s Waltz has a quietly sad, almost resigned
tone as Roethke relives his nightly dances with his father as a young boy. Lawrence s Piano is
somewhat dreamy as a man is taken back by a song to his childhood. While both are presented to us
through similar personas, striking differences are apparent throughout the two poems.
My Papa s Waltz is the pensive recollection of a boy s nightly waltz around the house in the arms
of his father. Roethke s poem gives a voice to the often silent internal ... Show more content on

And yet at the end of the stanza, we are shown just how defenseless the child is as his father
drags him around the room, scraping his son s ear with his belt buckle. Roethke makes the most
important statement in the last line of his poem, ? waltzed me off to bed Still clinging to your
shirt (479). Clinging, and all that the word implies: fear, sadness, love and admiration, is both
the greatest strength and obstacle the boy will encounter in his relationship with his father. In
contrast to My Papa s Waltz , D. H. Lawrence s Piano is a man s remembrance of a happy
childhood. Lawrence sets a dream like tone in the first stanza of his poem as we are taken back
through the years to a man s boyhood. Taken back by a song, the man is transported back to the
Sundays of his childhood where he would sit beneath the piano as his mother played hymns.
While melancholy, Lawrence shows us that his persona yearns for the happy childhood he once
had with the line, The glamour Of childish days is upon me, my manhood is cast Down in the
flood of remembrance, I weep like a child for the past (574). The author establishes a connection
with readers through his use of music as a means of passage through time with the statement, In

When most of us think about communication, many of us immediately imagine ourselves talking to

negative. Now, to interpret the estimates for S P 500 variable, we can say that a unit decrease in
the stock market will increase the gold price by close to $1. Which means that there is equal
increase in the gold prices as the decrease in the stock market. Treasury inflation indexed
securities is another variable that is significant at 1% significance level. Now, since the TIPS are

  • 2. Women Hunted By The Lenape Women The Lenape women did most of the farming and the men hunted. They harvested corn, squash and beans, hunted for deer, elk, turkeys, small game and caught fish in the rivers. Three of the most important crops planted by the Lenape included corn, beans, and squash. These crops were known as The Three Sisters by many of the eastern woodland tribes. The corn was boiled, baked, or fried and used to make soup, bread, and puddings. The beans were boiled or fried, made into soups, or added with their meat dishes. The Lenape believed that people were entitled to what they trapped or gathered, but foodwas to be shared with others and no one should go hungry. They offered visitors food, and in turn, they always ate what was given to them. The children ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. The History Of Police And African Americans Essay African Americans in modern America have bound together in unity against inequality to help end the unnecessary murders and unjust police beatings. However, where did these tensions between police and African Americans begin? This question can be answered by looking at the history of police in America and why they were originally established. Police first came on to the scene in 1704 when Carolina established the nation s first slave patrol that would turn into what we know today as the modern police. The slave patrol had the duty of searching for runaway slaves and returning them to their masters. Therefore, the original reason the police force was established was to deal with black slaves and it seems as if some officers today still hold that as their job title. However, this was just the beginning to the negative police encounters that many African Americans would have to endure. With the ratification of the 13th amendment and the freeing of the slaves the slave patrol became what is known as modern day police. During reconstruction the police began a war to create a new form of slavery, this form of slavery was known as convict leasing. Although, the 13th amendment legalized the enslavement of anyone convicted of a crime it seemed as if it was only used against African Americans. This new method of enslavement sky rocketed the rate of African Americanarrests and created new laws in the south such as the pig laws which sentenced anyone who stole a pig to 5 years in ... • 4. Tangerine Competitiveness Quotes If winning isn t everything, then why do they keep score? Vince Lombardi I think this quote represents competitiveness because when you re playing with your friends at the park usually you just play for fun while on an actual court you play to win and you don t feel good no matter how hard you tried in the gameif you lose, you feel mad. Victor shows a lot of this he tries his best but when he wins he is happy because he put in the work and he got the win, when he loses then he is frustrated because he played his heart out and still lost. So how Victor and Joey act about different times depends on how he does in soccer. Sportsmanship in Tangerine is mixed some people are solid on if they are good sports or bad sports, the other thing is ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. The Dutch Republic Introduction The Dutch republic came to be when part of the Netherlands separated from Spanish rule in 1579 and gained international recognition in 1648. It was characterized by its high population density (which is a continuity to this day), and its early, high level of urbanization. From the 16th to 18th centuries, the Dutch rose to power comparable to even Britain and France. This was also the period of time when world trade flourished and linked continents, acquiring the name global trade. In fact, the Dutch republic experienced such growth and improvement that the 17th century was the Dutch golden age. During the golden age, trade, military, art, and science flourished. This all led to a domination in trade, production of ships, etc. Western Europe After the split of the Roman Empire, the western half fell as the east prospered. Then in the medieval period, the catholic western European states emerged stronger than ever, causing the distinction between roman catholic/protestant vs eastern orthodox in Europe. Western Europe was made up of competitive states that came to play major roles. The Dutch republic managed to become largely influential and powerful through trade. As previously mentioned, competitiveness was and still is a characteristic of Western Europe. Since the Dutch focused on ship building to support the trade they were beginning to be a part of. Through this time period emerged the Columbian exchange and some European states also took an interest ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 6. Element 80 History Element 80, or mercury, is an element with quite an interesting and extensive history. I chose this particular element because of this. I have a basic knowledge of mercury already, but I would love to learn all that I can about it. I enjoy history and I take advantage of every opportunity I can to learn more about it and from it. I am interested in this element because of the name it was given, the uses we have and have had in the past for it, and the fact that the atomic numberis 80, which includes two of my favorite numbers. As previously stated, mercury is number 80 on the periodic table of elements. It is a metal, a transition metal to be exact. It has a symbol of Hg , an atomic mass of 200.59, and there are 7 known stable isotopes... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The shiny metallic silver color, soft malleable consistency, and quick mobility make it fun for young and curious children. Mercury was sold as a child s toy for many years. It could be bought in a science kit or individually with the label of Quicksilver. Kids would collect it and play with it like we play with modern slime. It would seep in through their skin and enter their blood supply, or they would ingest it by touching their mouth, or face in general, after touching the substance. Parents eventually linked their children s illness to mercury and it was discovered that the toy was indeed poisonous; therefore everyone that came into contact with it was infected with Mercury ... Are the Chinese likely to swap outbound tourism with inbound travel? China s decision to devalue its currency in quick succession during the second week of August caused headlines around the globe. The decision sent shockwaves, with the effects still unravelling today. Tourismis among the industries feeling the heat. Will the weaker yuan mean the boom in China s outbound tourism is over? China s outbound tourism is on a strong footing. Over 100 million Chinese people made a trip abroad last year. Data by the World Tourism Organisation (UNWTO) Chinese tourists increased their spending by 27% to reach $165 million in 2014. Much of the shopping spree and travel has been driven by the strength of the Chinese currency and the increase in Chinese wealth. In Europe, the yuan had strengthened 15% against the euro since the start of 2014. Now, some of this strength is gone. But is it enough to trouble outbound tourism? Trouble for some China s downward move to devalue was the biggest since the mass devaluation in 1994 and together with the economic slowdown caused concern across many industries. The decision to devalue the currency by 4% could mean long term wobble in the exchange rates, which could mean trouble for tourists. If Chinese tourists can expect less value for their yuan, they could start thinking twice about travelling abroad. But the current devaluation is ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 8. Essay Comparison of Three First World War Poems Comparison of Three First World War Poems The three poems that I will be studying in this essay are Dulce Et Decorum Est by Wilfred Owen, Comrades: An Episode by Robert Nichols and Who s For The Game? by Jessie Pope. These poems are about the First World War and two of them seem to have a negative attitude criticising and downgrading the so called spectacular experience of the First World War. In Dulce Et Decorum Est Wilfred Owen seems to mention good aspects of the War but compares them to low class tragic events. In Comrades: An Episode Robert Nichols describes the event of a soldier being badly injured and eventually dying. It describes what the corporals and soldiers did and how ... The poem is written in the style of a story, which gives the writer more opportunity to include descriptions and details. In this poem the narrator is the leader of a group of men and he mentions names and, as he knows his men so well, he can create and describe vivid pictures of them, such as Not to see them: Wilkinson, Stubby, Grim. Other ways he describes his men is by the speech they use regularly. Who s For the Game? shows the thoughts that Jessie Pope has towards the war; she views the war as very straight forward and simple; join the army, fight, win, then go home. There is some reality points in the text even though they are understated, such as; It won t be a picnic not much , and Come back with a crutch . This second quote is very misleading, Pope is saying that a crutch is the about the worst thing that could happen when over a million Englishmen died fighting for their country. She uses metaphors in her poem including the title of the poem. Heroin can reach the brain by methods of injection, nasal inhalation, or smoked. In our brain there are many receptor sites, each site specific for different neurotransmitters. In this paper I will refer to the opiate receptor. Naturally, our brain is responsible for making endorphins, a natural opiate of the body. These endorphins are the feel good chemical sensations in the brain, when we are exposed to pain or stress. Heroinmimics the opium chemical, creating the effect of pleasure and euphoric feelings. The opioid is synthesized from morphine, and when entering the brain, heroin is converted back to morphine. Upon entering, the once opioid, now morphine, binds to opioid receptors, specifically in the brainstem. The brainstem is vital for controlling automatic processes vital for life, like blood pressure, arousal, and respiration. These processes are how we continue to live; heroin use and overdose can then lead to death by suppression of these vital life processes, such as suppression of breathing (National Institute on Drug Abuse, 2014). While heroin undoubtedly affects our processes of living, it also interrupts our sensations and perceptions. Users describe the feeling of heroin as a euphoric or rush feeling. This rush reportedly last one to two minutes, where the actual high lasts hours. Other sensations associated with heroin are reduction of anxiety and depression, safe and warm feelings, and pain relief (Hartney, 2014). While heroin affects sensations, it also changes motor functions, such as reaction times. In a study I examined, experimenters tested reaction times in heroin abusers of different genders. In the experiment, researchers formulated two groups, one control and the other heroin dependent currently in a withdrawal period; researchers choose participants specifically on certain guidelines. Scholars assume that Q existed due to the large portions of Luke and Matthew are essentially identical to each other and that are not found in Mark. While an explanation for this may be that Luke copied Matthew (or vice versa) it would not explain the problem of why these two Gospels radically differ from one another on other respects. If either Luke or Matthew derived their Gospel from the other, then it would be expected that far more common material and shared themes would be present. Therefore the majority of scholars hypothesize that Matthew and Luke shared source Q in addition to the Gospel of Mark. The Concept of Intelligence Essay The Concept of Intelligence ABSTRACT: Gilbert Ryle s dispositional analysis of the concept of intelligence makes the error of assimilating intelligence to the category of dispositional or semi dispositional concepts. Far from being a dispositional concept, intelligence is an episodic concept that refers neither to dispositions nor to knowing how, but to a fashion or style of proceeding whose significance is adverbial. Being derivative from the function of the adverb intelligently, the concept of intelligence does not have essential reference to specific verbs but rather to the manner or style of proceeding of nearly any verb that is descriptive of the proceedings of an agent. Intelligence words are expressive of a manner of doing ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The dualist s reaction was to withdraw from the dispositional analysis and to claim that intelligence can only make sense when it is ultimately linked to an alternative concept which presumably has reference to a process (the existence of which may be ascertained by a subjective avowal: intent, deliberation, reflective choice, etc.). Whether this maneuver avoids the Rylean critique is subject to serious doubt. Each new term may itself have a problem concerning the metaphysical status of its referent: whether it is a physical or a spiritual process. Another problem with this approach is that it often makes the concept of intelligence dependent on factors that may have no more than a casual relation to its meaning: a contextual connection, for example. While a dispositional analysis of intelligence would effectively rescue it from entrapment inside the ghost in the machine it would fail to do the concept the justice that the dualist seeks for it, and that is to make the observation that it appears to be more an episodic than a dispositional concept. It is in this connection that some philosophers take a critical view of Ryle s analysis. Peter Thomas Geach, for instance, claims that reports of mental acts are categorical and are not hypothetical or semi hypothetical statements about overt behavior. He believes the dispositional account of psychological concepts to be on a level with the statement that opium puts people to sleep ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The impact of these early experiences with track and field and reflecting back on the improvements done to the fields are consistent with Beard and Green study on the role of turfgrasses on environmental protection and it s benefit to humans. Both authors explains The erosion control effectiveness of turfgrass is the combined result of a high shoot density and root mass for surface soil stabilization, plus a high biomass matrix that provides resistance to lateral surface water flow, thus slowing otherwise potentially erosive water velocities. Therefore, perennial turfgrasses offer one of the most cost efficient methods to control water and wind erosion of soil. Such control is very important in eliminating dust and mud problems around homes, factories, schools, and... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Preparation of 3 (2 Nitrophenyl)acrylate Utilizing the Wittig Reaction Introduction: The Wittig reaction, named after Georg Wittig, produces an alkene from an aldehyde or ketone reacting with a phosphonium ylide (a Wittig reagent). The Wittig reaction is typically stereoselective, which makes the Wittig reagents more difficult to work with but use of the Wittig with different allyl substituents prove to make the Wittig more versatile which can lead to the synthesis of a wide range of alkenes, styrenes, stilbenes, and 1,3 dienes which can then be used to synthesize more complex bioactive compounds such as leukotrienes which are used to treat asthma1. This stabilization for the anion gives the antioxaphosphetane intermediate, which then produces the trans alkene. There was a low yield for the product, as much of the reactant remained in the analysis sample, despite what seemed to be a decent yield by mass. This could be because of poor mixing after the reaction was heated since much of the reactant had solidified. • 32. Goodwill Balance Sheet GOODWILL What is the definition of Goodwill? Goodwill is an intangible asset that mostly appears as the biggest intangible asset on the balance sheet. The Goodwill can only be identified with the business as a whole. Therefore, the goodwill cannot be sold individually in the marketplace, while some other intangible assets can be sold. Goodwill is not easy to measure, because it includes exceptional management, desirable locations, customer relations, and so on. The determination of the Goodwill is therefore most of the time very subjective. Companies only record the goodwill when there is an exchange transaction the involves the purchase of an entire business. When the company is purchased by another company, the goodwill ... Since 2001, U.S. companies are no longer required/allowed to amortize the recorded amount of goodwill. In accounting we use the word amortization to mean the systematic allocation of a balance sheet item to expense (or revenue) on the income statement. Harold Averkamp (2015) The amortization of an asset means that a company is allowed to split the value of the expenses stated in the income statement over several months instead of a one time booking. However, the amount of goodwill is subject to a goodwill impairment test at least once per year. The companies have to verify at least once a year if the value of their assets is aligned with the fair value of the market. The test verifies if the value of the assets is bigger than the market value. An adjustment is recorded in order to bring the value of the asset at the fair value in case of inequality. Creationism in Public Schools Essay Creationism in Public Schools Teaching Creationism in Schools The question as to whether or not creationism should be taught in public schools is a very emotional and complex question. It can be looked at from several different angles, its validity being one of them. Despite the lack of evidence to support the fundamentalist idea of creationism, that in itself is not enough to warrant its exclusion from the curriculum of public schools in the United States. The question is far more involved and complex. One way to address the question is whether or not creationism, in itself, is a valid idea to be taught in public schools. The answer to this can be yes. The problem in scientific creationism, and what I see as a reason for its exclusion from the science classroom in public schools, is the fact that it looks as if, from the outside, the whole theory that it rest on is simply a contortion of the traditional version of creation described in Genesis, custom made to fit in with Darwin s theory of evolution. R. M. Hare would probably say that scientific creationism is simply a modification of the story of creation in Genesis, to fit into the Г’blikГ“ of the religious fundamentalist. A blik, as Hare describes it, is a pre set worldview held by all people, in which they draw from when forming certain opinions on any particular subject. In the case of religious fundamentalist, whose faith in the validity of the Book of Genesis is an essential part of their blik, it becomes necessary for them to contort their literal view of the Book of Genesis into a form that is scientifically acceptable. For this reason, creation science still does not have a place in the science classroom of public schools. Another problem with scientific creationism is that it would exclude the idea of a random beginning. No theory could ever be tested to find origins because it would conflict with scientific creationism. Scientific creationism would be, in essence, a lesson on science halting efforts to find creation, if it is possible at all. It may, however, be acceptable as ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Trials showed that in mouse, the PLC was found in the pellet but it was confirmed to the separate sperm ends instead of heads. Graff uses his past stating that he has street smarts, and that it was a form knowledge. In a way, he negatively scrutinizes the public education for overlooking the intellect of those who aren t skilled academically. One thing that I believe is very fundamental is that he says, They would be more prone to take on intellectual identities if we encouraged them to do so at first on subjects that interest them rather than ones that interest us. Lawrence My Papa s Waltz by Theodore Roethke and Piano by D.H. Lawrence are two poems in which grown men recall memories of their childhood. My Papa s Waltz has a quietly sad, almost resigned tone as Roethke relives his nightly dances with his father as a young boy. Lawrence s Piano is somewhat dreamy as a man is taken back by a song to his childhood. While both are presented to us through similar personas, striking differences are apparent throughout the two poems. My Papa s Waltz is the pensive recollection of a boy s nightly waltz around the house in the arms of his father. Roethke s poem gives a voice to the often silent internal ... Clinging, and all that the word implies: fear, sadness, love and admiration, is both the greatest strength and obstacle the boy will encounter in his relationship with his father. In contrast to My Papa s Waltz , D. H. Lawrence s Piano is a man s remembrance of a happy childhood. Lawrence sets a dream like tone in the first stanza of his poem as we are taken back through the years to a man s boyhood. Taken back by a song, the man is transported back to the Sundays of his childhood where he would sit beneath the piano as his mother played hymns. Which makes sense as the sign of the estimates is negative. Now, to interpret the estimates for S P 500 variable, we can say that a unit decrease in the stock market will increase the gold price by close to $1.
