Lethal Injections and the Involvement of Medical Personnel
Death penalty, or capital punishment, is the execution of a person as a punishment for a crime.
Throughout history, the death penalty has been a prominent part of society. In ancient
Mesopotamia, the death penalty was seen as retribution for certain crimes, and to this day, is now a
common practice in the United States. Before, when the United States were still colonies, the death
penalty had been carried out by hanging and other various methods but today in the modern age, the
Unites States method of execution in most states is lethal injection (Issitt). Unlike previous
methods, such as electrocution and the firing squad, the lethal injection is virtually painlessly due
to certain drugs being injected into the patient that put the patient to sleep during the process. Due
to its medical nature, medical personnel, such as anesthesiologists are needed to administer the
drugs, but is it ethical for them to participate in the execution of people?
Throughout the process of a lethal injection, there are many drugs inserted into the prisoner. Before
the drugs are administered, the prisoner is first brought into a room, that looks very much like a
hospital room, with all the medical equipment inside. Within the room, there is a cardiac monitor,
and other medical items. The inmate is then strapped to trolley, much like the one below: And

Cold War In Lord Of The Flies
The Cold War was a time of closed mindedness and segregation of ideas. In William Golding s
book, The Lord of the Flies, Golding tells the story of the Cold War while at the same time
hiding it under a tale of boys stranded on the island. At the beginning of the book both Ralph and
Jack are trying to be the leader. When they are arguing over who should be chief, one of the other
boys says, Him with the shell! (22). The boys want Ralph to be the chief because he is the only one
with anything to offer at the moment. He has the shell which to them symbolizes order and he
offers them fire which symbolizes rescue. Ralph is the highest bidder so they follow him just like
the Russians followed Lenin to rebellion and communism during the Russian Revolution, because
he offered them freedom. They had nothing until Lenin, and later Stalin, offered them all equal
money and supplies just like the boys had nothing until Ralph offered them structure and rescue.
The same thing happens later in the book when the boys give up on Ralph s... Show more content on

The same can be said for The Lord of the Flies. When all of the boys are having a feast and
chanting about killing a pig, Simon comes out of the forest. He tries to explain that what they
fear is actually nothing but imagination. As he is trying to say this, they attack him; Simon was
crying out about a dead man on a hill... The sticks fell and the mouth of the new circle crunched
and screamed (152). The boys kill Simon because they don t want to have to entertain the notion
that what they believe is wrong. This is just like the Cold War. People were killed by Capitalists
because they tried to support communism and capitalists were killed by communists. This is
because in both the book and the war people did not want to be told that what they hated might
actually be more true than they are willing to

18th Century American Pirates
While images of Port Royal and the Spanish Main fill most people s imagination when they hear
the word pirate, the truth is not all privateers were sailing around the Caribbean looking to capture
gold bound for Cadiz. The British government imposed a huge tariff on goods coming in and out
of the American Colonies that spurned a black market for cheaper goods that had been plundered
from foreign vessels. At the time South Carolina was an impoverished colony that was only eager
to trade with the pirates letting them move around town freely just as if they were in New
Providence.
No city in the United States has a pirate history like that of Charlestown, South Carolina, and while
places such as Key West and Savannah are often mentioned as pirate towns, neither... Show more

Despite doing well from the captured ships the real reason Blackbeard had blocked the port was to
obtain a chest of medicine that contained mercury the only thing at the time known to treat syphilis.
Having now gotten what he came for Blackbeard turned his fleet north heading for his now home

One member of the raid on Charlestown that did not fare as well, however, was Stede Bonnet a
former plantation owner in the Caribbean who took to piracy in search of adventure.
Not skilled in the art of navigation and warfare Bonnet was caught by the British after a five hour
battle in the Cape Fear River and brought back to Charlestown for trial.
Now tried and convicted to death by hanging Bonnet was taken to the gallows at White Point where
he and other pirates that followed were strung up until dead.
Charlestown was also the home of the most notorious female pirate Anne Bonny, the hot headed
daughter of an Irish plantation owner. Having run away with a sailor Anne took up company with

Three Managed Care Organizations
The book discuss about three major types of managed care organization: health maintenance
organizations (HMO), preferred provider organizations(PPO), and point of service plans(POS).
Managed care has been around for minute. This organization has been around since 1930s. The
three managed care organizations are require an agreement between the insurer and a network of
health care providers. Policy holders are encouraged to use the providers in the network by the
fact a percentage will pay the cost of care if received outside the network.
The three managed care organizations all share a similar idea of health. Health organization and

Analysis Of My Mother, The Crazy African By Chimamanda...
Chimamanda Adichie is an author from Nigeria, a major country in Africa. She is an exceedingly
well known author from her writings on immigration, feminism, and the African experience in
America. She has given a variety of Ted talks, speeches, and has done interviews on immigration,
feminism, and the African experience in America. In her writings, most noticeably My Mother, the
Crazy African, she talks about the experience of immigrants in America and through a lens which
relates to issues one from all walks of life can understand. Her book shows a growing divide
between the understanding of American Culture and other cultures from around the world, in this
book, most specifically Nigeriain this case. The analysis in this essay will take place through
examining similar work as well as her interviews and speeches. My Mother, the Crazy African is
a story about a Nigerian girl named Ralindu, and her struggles to assimilate in America. She
moves to Philadelphia and lives there for three years. Her mother has a hard time getting used to
America, and this causes a growing rift between her and her daughter. This rift, and how they each
subsequently deal, is the main conflict in this story. Ralindu wishes to be more like the typical
American; she prefers more American food, has an American nickname Lin, has a more Caucasian
group of friends, and refuses to speak her native language of Igbo (Adichie, 53 69). This is a
common trend among children who immigrate to the U.S.

Iliotibial Band Syndrome Research Paper
Iliotibial Band Syndrome
Iliotibial band syndrome (ITBS) is a condition that often causes knee pain. It can also cause pain in
the outside of your hip, thigh, and knee. The iliotibial band is a strip of tissue that runs from the
outside of your hip and down your thigh to the outside of your knee.
Repeatedly bending and straightening your knee can irritate the iliotibial band.
CAUSES
This condition is caused by inflammation and irritation from the friction of the iliotibial band
moving over the thigh bone (femur) when you repeatedly bend and straighten your knee.
RISK FACTORS
This condition is more likely to develop in people who:
Frequently change elevation during their workouts.
Run very long distances.

Analysis of Anyone Lived in a Pretty How Town
In the poem Anyone Lived in a Pretty how Town E. E. Cummings plays with jumbled syntax, a
seemingly random rhyme scheme, and the paradox of non identical repetition to convey his
message about the ordinariness of daily life, the passing of time, and the inclusive anonymity of
people we encounter in our lives. Anyone Lived in a Pretty how Town describes the daily lives of
the people who live in a certain, nameless town. The town is not named and neither are any of the
townspeople, other than to give titles such as man, woman, child. These anonymous people living
in the anonymous town do nothing notable; in fact, they are all fairly unremarkable as they go
about their daily lives. The poem addresses all the seasons of life that the... Show more content on

Madonna s Appropriation Of Gay Culture
appropriation occurs when a style leads to racist generalizations or stereotypes where it originated,
but is deemed as high fashion, cool or funny when the privileged take it for themselves. While
African American artists are unfairly and inaccurately stereotyped for wearing grills, Madonna and
other white stars like Katy Perry don grills just because they can, with little consequences to their
image and without recognizing the cultureit came from and the history of racism that comes along
with a black identity.

Madonna s actions, along with those of many artists before her, have perpetuated stereotypical
and othering depictions of minorities, along with stealing and unethically borrowing the
customs and imagery of other cultures. Music critic bell hooks did a good job of summing up
the bottom line when discussing a controversial artist like Madonna. She states that sometimes it
is difficult to find words to make a critique when we find ourselves attracted by some aspect of a
performer s act and disturbed by others, or when a performer shows more interest in promoting
progressive social causes than is customary. We may see that performer as above critique. Or we
may feel our critique will in no way affect the worship of him/her as a cultural icon. Recognizing
and critiquing Madonna for her various appropriations does not necessarily equate a complete
dismissal of her career and its beneficial effects on society. However, it is necessary to recognize
her appropriation and denounce her actions alongside the similar actions of other artists. Only by
holding artists accountable for their appropriation and preventing future celebrities from gaining
fame off of theft can the longstanding cultural appropriation of the popular music industry begin to

John Philip Sousa was an American composer and conductor of the late Romantic era. Sousa was
born in Washington, D.C. on November 6, 1854, to John Antonio Sousa and Maria Elisabeth
Trinkhaus. Born of both Portuguese and Bavarian ancestry. His father was Portuguese, and his
mother of Bavarian ancestry. Sousa started his music education by playing the violin as a pupil of
John Esputa and George Felix Benkert for harmony and musical composition at the age of six. At
this time he also began studying voice, violin, piano, flute, cornet, baritone, trombone and alto horn.

Sousa wrote 136 marches, published by the Sam Fox Publishing Company beginning in 1917 and

Difference Between Eyewitness Testimony
Whether an individual is a witness for or against your case, there are signs that a person may not
be reliable. The following are a few things to look for.
A witness s statement does not agree with the evidence
This is not always obvious because a witness s statement can seem accurate except for a single
variance with the physical evidence. This can be important because of the case were to go to trial,
a simple discrepancy in the testimony could be exploited by the opposing attorney. Although it is
normal for eyewitness testimony not to be perfect, if there is a difference between the witness s
account and a particular piece of evidence, there is a chance that some or all of the testimony has
been derived from the statement of one of the parties in the lawsuit or criminal case.
There is a bias with the witness
If the witness is a friend or relative of one of the parities involved, there is an obvious bias that the
witness may have. This doesn t mean that the witness s statement is necessarily inaccurate, but
anytime there is a relationship between a witness and the party being sued or is suing, then the
statement may be questionable. As a private investigator, we can run a background check on
someone to determine if there is a family relationship or perhaps a ... Show more content on

Whether a witness s testimony will still be valuable in court is up to an attorney, but in general,
the greater the change, the more unreliable the witness is. The key element is whether the witness
was on record with their first story. If their first statement was not recorded and is one that was
verbal, the second statement that was a recorded witness statement may carry more weight. This is
why it is important to have a witness statement documented, and have it done as early as possible
while the event is still fresh in a person s mind. A private investigator has skills and legal
knowledge to record an in person witness statement

Was Claudius An Effective Ruler
In this essay we are going to discuss whether Claudius was an effective ruler. In order to achieve
an answer to this, we will also discuss how he governed his empire and how he went about
administrating laws and provinces.
To start with, however, it is best to briefly introduce Claudius before he became emperor. This will
help us to understnad his situation and how past events effected his ruling.
Claudius was the great nephew of Augustus, and so was part of the most important family in rome
at the time. From a young age Claudius was physically and mentally challenged, and due to this he
was the out cast of his family, everyone including Augustus believed him to be an embaressment.

With this Claudius appointed freemen to certain secretarial offices, however, he wasn t the first
emperor to do so, augustus before him also found it better to work through permanant non
senatorial officials than through senatorial magistrates. Although Claudius and augustus are similar
in the way they appointed their officials, there is one major difference, this being that Claudius
allowed his officials, freedmen, to influence him. Now straight away we can see how this would
have angered the senate, because they had gone through the correct path on the Cursus Honourum,
where as these freedmen were just given powerful positions by giving his most important tasks to
his freedmen, this ensured the emperoros independence of both senate and the equestrian order. It
also seems, with the dominant influence the freedmen had on Claudius, that many acts and
judgements weren t his own, they were dictated by his wives and freedmen, he practically
always obeyed their whims rather than his own judgement. Subsequently, we can say that
Claudius looked as though he was a mere puppet, and the real rulers were his wives and
freedmen. Claudius fell so deeply under the influence of these freedmen and wives that he seemed
to be their servant rather than their emperor. This is also a good reason as to why many acts put
forth were in favour of the population of rome, because these freedmen were of such low

Exploration For A New Route
In one such exploration for a new route to Asia, the VOC in 1609 employed Henry Hudson, an
Englishman, to locate the legendary Northwest Passage from the Atlantic to the Pacific oceans.
The VOC had hoped that it would provide a safer and quicker route instead of having to pass
through the Cape of Good Hope or going around the tip of South of America. While Hudson
never did discover the supposed Northwest Passage, he did explore a vast area of modern day
northern US and Canada. These explorations gained the VOC a foothold in North America as they
established trading posts in 1614 at Manhattan and Albany; however these posts were only half
heartedly promoted. Nonetheless, the VOC participated in the slave trade by establishing a route...

of rather or not it was worth the bother. While the Dutch West India Companytook part in the
typically less profitable aspects of Dutch Trade, the VOC was turning enormous profits all
across the East Indies and Asia. The VOC were the only Europeans allowed to conduct trade with
Japan throughout their isolation during the Edo period (1603 1868). The VOC were only
permitted to trade at the designated port, Dejima, on the island of Nagasaki and there were only
ever a select few allowed to come temporary onto the mainland. One of the reasons why the
Japanese permitted trade with the Dutch was because the Dutch were only interested in the
acquiring of Japanese silver and copper, not incorporating Dutch ideologies and culture onto Japan.
Furthermore, William Adams, who worked for the Dutch, had travelled to Japan before the start of
their isolation and became an advisor to Ieyasu, the head of the Japanese government. Due to these
two reasons when Japan closed its borders off to the outside world, the Dutch were one of the three

The Effect Of Sexual Assault On College Campuses
Introduction
College is where young women and men beginning one of the most biggest and exciting
adventures. The students typically move out and begin to experience adulthood for the first time
and often the first time one can begin to make their own decisions. This also a very stressful times
for students as they must deal with the stress of their school work, internships, living on their own,
and in some cases deal with the effects of sexual assault. Sexual assault on college campuses has
been a problem for many years; however, in the past several years, this issue has come to light. In
this paper I will discuss sexual assaults being reported and how the universities deal with the
reported sexual assault, the statistics colleges report for ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The likelihood of universities doing this is small because a university does not want to single
themselves out for their problems of sexual assault, even though it is a problem for nearly all
college campuses. Colleges are also hesitant to admit there is a problem in fear of losing
perspective students and losing money from donors. College must become safe places where
victims feel they are able to report their assault and be protected while justice is served. When a
student reports a sexual assault the school must take the report seriously. Not taking the assault
seriously, could lead to more sexual assaults on campus from the same assaulter. According to
Saul, of the New York Times, a study of 1,642 men at two different colleges was published in
JAMA Pediatrics and found that while a larger number of men admitted to behaviors that
constituted rape, a smaller percentage of them, closer to 25 percent, were repeat offenders (Saul).
In the case of one of Ms. Weckhorst s abuser, he went on to rape another student in October of
2015. Not punishing the assaulter only leads to more sexual assaults. Though many colleges
have been outspoken about the problem of sexual assault, though their actions typically do not
support their words, they have begun to discusses ways to prevent sexual assault, such as
programs against sexual violence. According to Katherine Silbaugh her article, REACTIVE TO

The Qantas dispute involved varying parties. These parties included Qantas employees and their

As a result of no progress in the negotiations, applications to FWA were made to commence
protected industrial action. Subsequently various forms of action was undertaken by the three
employee groups. The unions engaged in overtime bans and ongoing brief work stoppages, which
disrupted Qantas flights regularly and impacted reportedly on the airline commercially (workplace

Industrial action conducted by the Engineers included short stoppages, weekend overtime bans, full
shift stoppages and a stop work meeting. The protected action was intermittent, and on some
occasions was not undertaken when scheduled, also, stoppages were managed in order for Qantas
to continue business. (Sangkuhl, 2011)
Conciliation with FWA had also commenced but no advancements had been made (Brigden, 2012).
TWU also conducted short stoppages, and a stop work meeting, and although it would appear that
these were conducted to minimise disruptions this was inevitable as some stoppages were
cancelled, affecting Qantas business.

The Colonization Of African Countries
Africa had been known as the dark continent considering Europeans knew little of its culture or
background. Europeans sought control over Africa because of its natural resources and plantation.
By 1914 almost all of Africa was colonized by Europeans, with Britain and France being the biggest
colonizers. The imperialization in Africaby European countries have had a significant impact on the
continent and its indigenous people. The colonization of African countries has had a negative
effect, as the native Africans were treated poorly in the Belgian Congo, resources were exploited
for the benefit of the Europeans and African culture was lost.
In 1884, Europeans met in Berlin, Germany to set rules for dividing Africa into colonies, this
consultation is known as the Berlin Conference. Belgium was one of the smallest European
colonizers, who colonized the large country of Congo. The Europeans believed that the Africans
were inferior and felt the need to civilize their population. Social Darwinism is the classification
of humans into species races based on hair, skin, etc, with no scientific support to this conclusion.
According to this theory the different human species are not equally evolved. The stronger, more

The Realism Of Realism And Film
The aesthetics of realism in each film can be utilized in many diverse ways to offer certain truths
about the world of the film to further express the film s story. These theatrical elements emphasize
what the film attempts to relay to the audience; moreover, it intensifies the authenticity of each
aspect of the film. The use of real people, on camera interviews, textual information, and of direct
address to the camera displays the realism of each film.
Textual information is shown in This is Spinal Tap and Shut up and Sing in various parts of the
movies and for different reasons. The first time textual information is presented in Spinal Tap is at
the beginning of the film. As the band plays at the concert, the camera moves to each band ... Show

On camera interviews in both the films accentuate the films realism. In Shut up and Sing there is
an interview in the beginning of the movie which took place after Natalie voiced her impolite
comment about President Bush. This shows the audience that Natalie is in fact sorry she said what
she had said but not sorry she had spoken up. Martie furthers her point by saying that their band
would not be as eminent as they are now if Natalie restrained her outspoken attitude. Another
example is when the Dixie Chicks are interviewed after the release of their new song Not Ready
to Make Nice. The interviewer says that public opinion has changed much in the past three years
and that Bush s ratings have gone down. Natalie replies that they were compelled to write their
newest album. This shows the audience the band s determination to stick with their opinions and
that Bush s support has decreased while the band s support has endured. In Spinal Tap, there are
several instances in where the band is interviewed. It is relayed to the audience that several
drummers that were once apart of Spinal Tap have all died under mysterious circumstances. This
element, on camera interviews, is used to disclose some background of the band. Another
example is when the lead singer of the band is interviewed after Nigel quits the band. David says
that he will move on because Nigel leaving is no different than all the other people that have left
the band. He also says

Smooth Muscle Contraction Research Paper
Noradrenaline is chemical transmitter at the post ganglionic sympathetic nerve ending and also
adrenaline from the medulla of the adrenal gland. This happens from the stimulation of the
sympathetic nervous system. Combined actions of both adrenaline and noradrenaline you get these
major physiological responses to sympathetic stimulation;
Contraction of the smooth muscle (example. Blood vessels, pupil of the eye) actions of both
adrenaline and noradrenaline effects result in stimulating alpha (A) receptors located on the
smooth muscle cells. The most important action is on the vascular smooth muscle; large arteries
and veins as well as arterioles are constricted, from this it results in decreased vascular compliance,
increased central venous pressure and increased peripheral resistance. These all contribute to an
increase in systolic and diastolic arterial pressure. (a) receptors involved in smooth muscle
contraction are mainly a1 in type, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The twitch tension of fast contracting fibres (white muscle) is increased by adrenaline, particularly
if the muscle is fatigued. Whereas the twitch of slow (red) muscle is reduced. These effects depend
on an action on the contractile proteins, rather than on the membrane and the mechanism is poorly
understood. In humans, adrenaline and other b2 agonists cause a marked tremor: shakiness that
accompanies fear, excitement or the excessive use of b2 agonists (example: salbutamol) in the
treatment of asthma examples of this. This results from an increase in muscle spindle discharge,
coupled with an effect on the contraction kinetics of the fibres, these effects combining to produce
an instability in the reflex control of muscle length. Beta receptor antagonists are sometimes used to
control pathological tremor. The b2 agonists also cause long term changes in the expression of the
sarcoplasmic reticular proteins that can control contraction of skeletal

The Moral Permissibility of Legalizing Active Euthanasia...
The Moral Permissibility of Legalizing Active Euthanasia To date, in the united States of America,
active euthanasia has been seen as unacceptable in legal terms. However, the issue is not so clear in
moral terms among the public, and especially among the medical community. In fact, nearly half of
the doctors in the United States say that they would prescribe active euthanasiaunder certain
circumstances. The law that prohibits active euthanasia restricts many people from doing what they
feel morally justified to do. The moral aspects of killing a person would be the primary point in the
argument that society would be harmed by the legalization of voluntary active euthanasia.
Therefore, it... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In Rachels example the action, or lack of action, is not the relevant point because in each case in
the example the actions are the same.
Instead, it is the intentions of the person which are important and relevant because the intentions
in each case are obviously not the same. I agree with Rachel and I too believe the moral
difference between killing and letting die does not lye in the action a person takes, but in the
intentions of a person in carrying out those action(s). Furthermore, it is important to understand
that if one of the two actions is going to be accepted it is logical that they both be accepted
because the actions are not morally different. To say that killing is morally impermissible and
letting die is morally permissible or vice versa seems to be ignorant. Specific cases for killing
and letting die can be presented where the equality of the moral permissibility between the two
can be put into question. For example, a hunter walking in the woods trips over a rock and shoots
his son who dies, while in the other part of town a mother finds her baby lying face down in water
filled bathtub, does nothing about it, and the baby dies. The first part of this scenario depicts an
obvious case of killing, while the second part

Pulmonary Surfactant Lab Report
IIntroduction: The simple act of breathing as we know it, is not as simple as it seems. Breathing
takes numerous organs and requires a variety of complex operations to correctly occur. One of the
most unique factors of breathing is pulmonary surfactant. Pulmonary Surfactant is an oily fluid
that is composed of a mixture of lipids and protein molecules that coats the inner alveolar surface
(McKinley, 2016). The internal surface of alveoli is moist, which makes it prone to collapsing
because of its high surface tension, pulmonary surfactant keeps the alveoli and lungs from
collapsing (McKinley, 2016). The importance of surfactant can be seen in the birth and
development of pre mature babies born prior to the 30th week of pregnancy. Around... Show more

The Alien Act Of Illegal Immigration Essay
Somewhere in this world there are parents lying awake at night afraid of a knock on the door that
could tear their families apart, people who love this country, work hard, and want nothing more than
a chance to contribute to the community and build better lives for themselves and their children.
(Clinton). The first deportationlaw in the United Stateswas the Alien Act of Illegal immigrationhas
long been a problem in the United States, especially since the latter half of the twentieth century. In
recent discussions immigration has been the subject of heated congressional debates. Deportation
along with the subject of immigration, has recently become an immense issue in the United States.
On one of the hand, some argue that millions of undocumented immigrants should not be allowed
to live in the United States, and should most likely exemplify fear of getting deported. From this
perspective, it is said that if they are undocumented, then these immigrants have broken the law and
therefore have a criminal record (Sandy). On the other hand, others argue that millions of
undocumented immigrants should be allowed to live in the U.S. without any fear of getting
deported. My own view is that, and I specifically state, that millions of undocumented immigrants
should be allowed to live in the U.S. without any fear of getting deported. Just like all arguments,
there are two sides to an argument. This opposition in particular, states those who do not believe

Determining Fitness Goals
5 ways to reach your fitness goals and stay healthy:
Many of us think about improving our bodies but find ourselves unable to realize those goals.
We either find it too hard to follow a workout plan through with consistency, loose interest mid
way or find ourselves unsure of how to reach our aims. The underlying reason behind all these
obstacles is the same and that is a lack of preparedness. Even if you deeply want to get leaner or
become more muscular and attractive you won t be able to go too far if you don t spend time in
understanding how the human mind works. The reason for this is that bringing about a significant
change in one s body is a long and tiring process; one that requires constant self supervision,
restraint and dedication. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The important thing to remember here is that their are no shortcuts when it comes to re shaping
your body. Yes, you can use artificial means to improve your appearance but the results will fade
soon and they all eventually do more harm than good to your body So, read up about safe means
of attaining your fitness aims and be sure to come up with a well rounded plan where you tackle the
issue at multiple fronts. You can do this by altering your eating habits, incorporating pertinent
physical exercise and avoiding unhealthy activities like smoking or alcohol that work to nullify the
effects of your efforts. This will allow your fitness aims to transform into an overall healthy lifestyle
which will be easier to sustain in the long run This is recommended as singular efforts such as
weight loss diet plans or quick workouts tend to loose their momentum or get ignored amidst a
hectic lifestyle. When you know the activities that you need to perform, turn them into an action
plan whereby you incorporate these activities into your daily/ weekly routine. Then, come up with
ways of managing the innate human tendencies that will inevitably and subtly try to derail you
from this plan. You can do this by understanding the underlying cause of these tendencies which in
most cases is a lack of accountability and a strong intrinsic motivation. So, overcome them by telling

African Americans Food
Africans found food in many ways. They hunted, fished, gathered, scavenged, herded, and farmed.
The types of foods early Africans consumed tended to vary by climate and area.
Early people were hunter gatherers. They ate large and small birds, fish, mice, grasshoppers, crabs,
snails, mollusks, fruit, nuts, wild cereals, vegetables, fungi, and other plants.
In the case of agriculture, the type of area and amount of rain determined the kinds of crops that
grew best.
People harvested forest snail. Bananas, fish, sheep, goats, chickens, cattle, yams, millet, sorghum,
and insect larvae were popular meal choices in the sub Saharan area.

Environmental Issues And Food Waste
Introduction
Food waste is one of the most wasteful forms of consumption in Australia. Research shows that we
commonly waste food because too much food was cooked; goes off before the best before date,
too much has been purchased, inadequate stock or poorly planned meal and menus. (Love Food
Hate Waste. 2015) Around forty seven percent of the wastes produced in metropolitan areas are
typically food and green waste. Over 4.2 million tonnes of food waste is disposed to landfill in
Australia each year. Around 1.5 million tonnes of this comes from the commercial and industrial
sector, costing around $10.5 billion in waste disposal and lost product not to mention the effect on
our environment. (Bowling. D 2015)
Scope of Study
Area of Study Contemporary + Future Issues This is topic is mainly focused on contemporary
issues and food waste is considered to be contemporary.
The focus questions that will underpin the investigation include the following:
1.Guiding Question 1: What type of general waste is generated by food businesses and why is it a
concern?
2.Guiding Question 2: What are the current strategies being implemented to minimize food wastage?
3.Guiding Question 3: What would encourage or prevent business from taking greater
responsibility to minimize their food waste?
Methodology
This investigation used both primary and secondary sources, majority of which being books,
websites, videos, surveys and interviews. Interviews were planned to be conducted with

Classification Diagram Classification Of Groundwater Samples
The USSL diagram classification of groundwater samples has been shown in figure 8. The samples
are classified as C2 S1, C3 S1, and C4 S1 categories. 23 samples (47 percent) were placed in C2 S1
class. The C2 S1 class points to medium saline water and low sodium amount which poses no
hazard of sodium exchange for agricultural usage in every type of soils. 45 percent of groundwater
samples (22 samples) were in the C3 S1 class, meaning that water is highly saline, sodium is low
and there is little hazard of sodium exchange. The remaining 4 samples (8 percent) were classified
in the C4 S1 class.
Fig 9, shows the spatial USSL Classification diagram of groundwater samples in Sarab plain. The
C2 S1 was found in the east part of the study area. In this part of the study area, the aquifer is
recharged from streams. Therefore, groundwater quality there has good quality. In the middle part
of study area, the groundwater quality is deteriorated due to dissolution of gypsum and salts
minerals in Miocene formations, cation exchange and urban wastewater. The C4 S1 was found in
the west and north part of the study area and salinity and SAR has increased in the west part of
study area due to Talkheh Rud river saline water (Asadollahfardi et al., 2011).
Due to insufficiency of absolute concentration of anions and cations for water quality
determination in agricultural usages, SAR, PI, KR, MAR, RSC, SSP and EC indices were used
as key parameters in this domain. Kelley s Ratio in the study

Why Is It Morally Permissible To Turn The Runaway Trolley
To begin with, the Trolley case is an experiment where you are put into a situation where you are
on a runaway trolley where the breaks do not work and you are headed for five people and you
can either hit the five people, killing them or save them by turning the trolley hitting one person
and killing him. There is another scenario called the Footbridge case where you are in the same
situation but in order to save the five people you have to push a fat man off a bridge stopping the
trolley. This is very interesting experiment that questions human ethicsand morality. It makes you
think whether or not it is morally permissible to turn the trolley. I argue that there is an important
moral difference between the Trolley case and the Footbridge case because there is a difference
between letting someone die to save people and killing someone to save people.... Show more

I disagree with Thompson that it would be impermissible to re direct the trolley because even
though in both cases one person dies from an action you take, the action has different moral
standards of reason of what is right and what is wrong. Most people agree that it is morally
permissible to turn the trolley killing the one man to save people five and it is wrong to push a
fat man from a bridge to save five people. Most people believe this because they know that there is
a distinct moral difference between incidentally killing someone and intentionally killing someone.
Intentionally killing some one is a universal law that has serious consequences which is why
people view pushing the fat man off the bridge as

Benefits Of Counterfeited Beauty Products

Counter fit ?
Cosmetics are seen everywhere in the market nowadays. Those who care a lot about how they
present themselves to other people would definitely buy them out of need. These products are often
sold at a high price and this is a problem to those who cannot afford them.
However, recently, products of the same name but different price have been popping up in the
market. Consumers all around the world would notice that these products are priced lower than the
usual. These cheaper products would most probably be counterfeited beauty products.
Counterfeited products are imitations of the real thing but usually sold in a reduced price. The
reason why people still buy counterfeited products is because who would want to resist a bargain?
Bargain prices are something good to us but considering what would happen if we buy and use
these counterfeits, it would not be worth it. Even though they look the same, these counterfeits are
far from the original. Therefore, it is only right that people should take proper measures to avoid
buying counterfeit make up and beauty products because they are harmful to our health, impacts the
economy negatively and are linked with other illegal
Activities.
Firstly, counterfeited beauty products should be avoided because they have been found to be
associated with bringing harm to the consumers well being. The reason for this is mainly because
these fake products do not go along with the

Mk4 Banshee Case Study
Ominously, CMMG s Mk4 Banshee made its appearance on the national stage this past Friday the
13Th. But the only thing that could prove to be unlucky about the Missouri gunmaker s wicked
new guns are the hoops shooters will have to go through to put most in their safe.
Yup, the Banshee line is nearly top to bottom NFA regulated registration, tax, stamps, the whole
nine yards. That s the breaks (illogical as they might be) in the short barreled rifle world. The
company has taken some mercy on the hearts of those who refuse to jump when the ATF says
frog, releasing complementary AR pistols in the line s four calibers. Even so, CMMG gives ample
reasons to contemplate doing the Fed s paper dance; by all accounts, the backpack big carbines are
sound as oak joists and light as a morning breeze. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The guns are plum featherweight. The pistol caliber Banshees just trips over the 4.5 pound mark,
while the rifle caliber configurations are well within a rounding error of a flat 5 pounds. As those
who shoot magnum revolvers know, this is tantalizingly tickling handgun heft with the benefit of a
stock (or brace).
CMMG offers the Banshees in .22LR, 9mm, .45 ACP and .300 Blackout, each boasting the
shortest barrel the company bores for the caliber. In the case of pistol calibers that snaps the tape
at a nimble 5 inches, while the Blackout measures out at 8 inches. In both cases, the Banshees
should prove not only portable but also as fast handling as they come particularly in a close
quarters application.
The Banshees come decked out, as those familiar with CMMG would suppose. Each version of
the BANSHEE sports the company s new ambidextrous charging handle, as well as sling plate
and safety selector. They come standard with a Cerakote finish, an RML M LOK Hand Guard and
a Magpul MOE Pistol Grip. The AR Pistol versions each come with a Tailhook Mod 2

Justification of the Right to National Self-Determination
1.Introduction Can the right to national self determination be justified?
1.1.What is the right to national self determination?
The right to self determination is the right of a group to determine political action concerning the
group and its members. In this case, the right to national self determination is the right of nations to
have the institutions to make the political decisions that are of primary concern to the nation and its
members (Shorten 2012: 44; Miller 1997: 81; Margalit and Raz 1990: 440). The right exists in
international law enshrined in the Civil and Political Human Rights Covenant, and yet there is
much controversy about its content, its bearers and how it ought to be implemented (Margalit and
Raz 1990: 439). Further, Shorten explains, the right can be satisfied through a variety of political
arrangements, ranging from the establishment of sovereign statehood, to the granting of limited
rights of self government within a given territorial jurisdiction (2012: 44).
1.1.1.What is at stake? What would self determination allow nations to do?
The right to national self determination is a complex issue given the many variables involved such
as what constitutes the right, its bearers, etc. First, it must be determined what kind of entity is a
nation. This requires a critical analysis of the criteria that groups must exhibit in order to qualify as
a nation. Second, there is the question of why nations rather than other entities or groups should
qualify for

Fallen Art Short Film Themes
This short film criticizes war by showing us that war is bad in general, and violence is senseless.
Fallen Art who was directed by Tomasz Baginski showed three themes in his short film setting
points on why war is bad through three different characters. His first theme is the man in a higher
power uniform that s kicking the soldiers off the ladder who represents power in the military.
Then the old guy in a lab coat taking the pictures, represents the value of military life by taking
pictures of the soldiers once they land from the fall. Lastly the young fat guy towards the end of the
filmrepresents waras entertainment by creating art through the pictures given to him by the old guy.
I believe the argument the director is trying to make through his film is that violence is senseless,
and we should take in consideration those who are willing to go into war knowing the risks, and
the endings it can lead to. We should not only worry about the lives that can be taken during the
war, but as well as the way ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

In my opinion I agree with Baginski and the purpose of his short film, because we should value
those who are willing to put their lives on the line for our nation. We should be more aware, and
compassionate to those brave people. Not always are we going to be able to rely on the thought

The Statistics Of Prevalence For Child Sex Abuse Essay
The statistics of prevalence for child sex abuse varies because of all the unique cases of child
sex abuse that is reported. Although, statistic show that one in three girls will be sexually abused
at one point in the United States and boys are one in seven to be sexually abused (Anderson,
2014). Children are not susceptible to crime as shown in the statistics because predators like
pedophiles have fetishes towards little boy or girls. One study found that 10% of children
experienced or came close to experiencing a form of sexual violence which would include rape,
sexual assault, or harassment (Anderson, 2014). The numbers shown in the statistics are higher
because of the unreported cases. 30% of cases involving child sex abuse are reported to the local
authorities and 73% to 87% of female adolescents who are abused sexually are not treated or
identified by by the community (Anderson, 2014). Child sex abuse is also costly because it costs
the United States an estimated $103 billion for the abuse and negligence (Anderson, 2014). On
another note, 80% of children who have been sexually abused have symptoms of PTSD (Anderson,
2014).
Prevention of child sex abuse has risen in recent years with various programs and policies that help
reduce the rate of children being abused. Sex offender registries was formed to notify the local
communities about a sex offender living near the families. The Jacob Wetterling Crimes Against
Children and Sexually Violent Offender Act requires states

Core Values Of Equality And Social Justice In American...
The core values of equality and social justice in American society have changed significantly over
the last decades. The once dignified country that upholds both its traditional core values are now
eroding through the systemic unjust laws, which favors the affluent ones. In consequence, there is
an uneven distribution of power and wealth in the United States, where some become extremely
powerful and rich, while the others become miserably poor and vulnerable. This serious
ramification can be seen in the widespread concerns among the Wall Street executives and the
middle lower class people. According to The Divide by Matt Taibbi and the documentary Inside
Job, white collar Wall Street offenders are more likely to get away with their crimes even though
they perpetrate profitable felony such as corporate fraud, whilst the blue collar offenders get... Show

values of equality and social justice in addition to the elite level crime offenders being treated and
seen as more socially acceptable than the low level crime offenders. White collar crimes possessed
future horrific harms and consequences to our nation, especially in the financial spectrum; yet, the
society s main concerns laid on street crimes because of their physical and immediate effects. It is
important to note, however, that no crime is better than the other. Even though the impact of white

Crime And Punishment In The Middle Ages
The purpose of this essay is to analyze what crime and punishment was like during the middle ages
and early modern world. In the middle ages, which started from the 5th century all the way through
to the 15th century, and through early modern time which was between 15th century to around the
late 18th century, crimeand punishment started to differ from what it did in the past. In the
preceding years crime and punishment would be formed around cultural beliefs or by what a ruler
thought was acceptable and also revolved around Roman Churches which was now being replaced
by Germanic people. Now it has changed in to more of a law and church, concept and in addition to
that the renewal of the penitentiary system.
To begin with, the middle ages of crime and punishment in western Europe, which was stated
above ranged from the time of the 5th century through the 15 century, was acknowledged for
feudalist ideas. Feudalism can be defined as the aristocrats of Europe having control of the lands in

The knot which has been stated before in the previous paragraph has a lashing device, had
sometimes caused accidental deaths. Russia used torture instead of capital punishment to extracting
information, punishment, and refinement of execution.
In conclusion, the intent of this essay was to explain the transformation between crime and
punishment during the middle ages and the early modern times. During the middle ages crime and
punishment was centralized around if the state was non feudalism or feudalism. Throughout the

more less serious crimes to punishable by execution. At the same time Russia had abolished capital
punishment in means to use torture instead by reasons of obtaining information from the

Results And Discussion On Weight Loss
3 Results And Discussion 3.1 Wear Test Figure 4 shows the results of loss in weight for the
samples as a function with the applied load. It has been found that the wear behavior of
unreinforced alloy is higher compared with the composites. This behavior back to the hard
ceramic material protects the surface from the severe contact [30 32]. The results given in
figure 5 show that the weight loss decreases as the percentage of the nano SiC particles increases
from 0.5% to 4.5%. This could be occurred because the ceramic material on the composite
surface protects the matrix from severe contact. Figure 4 reveals also, that when the applied
load increases, the wear rate of all investigated samples increases. Conditions of the severe wear
were clearly seen from the rate of weight loss. The recognized pattern is steady with that
perceived by Alpas and Zhang [33] they propose the wear rate increment bit by bit with the
connected load in the gentle wear area. Then again, at a discriminating load that relies upon
sliding speed, the wear rate suddenly increments reflect the condition termed serious wear. From
figure 6 we can see that the composites weight loss is less than that of matrix alloy. The obtained
weight loss results show that no single, unique wear mechanism operates over the wide range of
the used weight (0 4.5%). Rather, there are several mechanisms while the change in their relative
importance as both the weight % of nano ceramic particles was varied and the

  • 2. Lethal Injections And The Involvement Of Medical Personnel Shella Samonte Kegley Health Science Technology 4th Period 27 September 2015 Lethal Injections and the Involvement of Medical Personnel Death penalty, or capital punishment, is the execution of a person as a punishment for a crime. Throughout history, the death penalty has been a prominent part of society. In ancient Mesopotamia, the death penalty was seen as retribution for certain crimes, and to this day, is now a common practice in the United States. Before, when the United States were still colonies, the death penalty had been carried out by hanging and other various methods but today in the modern age, the Unites States method of execution in most states is lethal injection (Issitt). Unlike previous methods, such as electrocution and the firing squad, the lethal injection is virtually painlessly due to certain drugs being injected into the patient that put the patient to sleep during the process. Due to its medical nature, medical personnel, such as anesthesiologists are needed to administer the drugs, but is it ethical for them to participate in the execution of people? Throughout the process of a lethal injection, there are many drugs inserted into the prisoner. Before the drugs are administered, the prisoner is first brought into a room, that looks very much like a hospital room, with all the medical equipment inside. Within the room, there is a cardiac monitor, and other medical items. The inmate is then strapped to trolley, much like the one below: And hooked up ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Cold War In Lord Of The Flies The Cold War was a time of closed mindedness and segregation of ideas. In William Golding s book, The Lord of the Flies, Golding tells the story of the Cold War while at the same time hiding it under a tale of boys stranded on the island. At the beginning of the book both Ralph and Jack are trying to be the leader. When they are arguing over who should be chief, one of the other boys says, Him with the shell! (22). The boys want Ralph to be the chief because he is the only one with anything to offer at the moment. He has the shell which to them symbolizes order and he offers them fire which symbolizes rescue. Ralph is the highest bidder so they follow him just like the Russians followed Lenin to rebellion and communism during the Russian Revolution, because he offered them freedom. They had nothing until Lenin, and later Stalin, offered them all equal money and supplies just like the boys had nothing until Ralph offered them structure and rescue. The same thing happens later in the book when the boys give up on Ralph s... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The same can be said for The Lord of the Flies. When all of the boys are having a feast and chanting about killing a pig, Simon comes out of the forest. He tries to explain that what they fear is actually nothing but imagination. As he is trying to say this, they attack him; Simon was crying out about a dead man on a hill... The sticks fell and the mouth of the new circle crunched and screamed (152). The boys kill Simon because they don t want to have to entertain the notion that what they believe is wrong. This is just like the Cold War. People were killed by Capitalists because they tried to support communism and capitalists were killed by communists. This is because in both the book and the war people did not want to be told that what they hated might actually be more true than they are willing to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. 18th Century American Pirates While images of Port Royal and the Spanish Main fill most people s imagination when they hear the word pirate, the truth is not all privateers were sailing around the Caribbean looking to capture gold bound for Cadiz. The British government imposed a huge tariff on goods coming in and out of the American Colonies that spurned a black market for cheaper goods that had been plundered from foreign vessels. At the time South Carolina was an impoverished colony that was only eager to trade with the pirates letting them move around town freely just as if they were in New Providence. No city in the United States has a pirate history like that of Charlestown, South Carolina, and while places such as Key West and Savannah are often mentioned as pirate towns, neither... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Despite doing well from the captured ships the real reason Blackbeard had blocked the port was to obtain a chest of medicine that contained mercury the only thing at the time known to treat syphilis. Having now gotten what he came for Blackbeard turned his fleet north heading for his now home port of Bath, North Carolina. One member of the raid on Charlestown that did not fare as well, however, was Stede Bonnet a former plantation owner in the Caribbean who took to piracy in search of adventure. Not skilled in the art of navigation and warfare Bonnet was caught by the British after a five hour battle in the Cape Fear River and brought back to Charlestown for trial. Although Claudius and augustus are similar in the way they appointed their officials, there is one major difference, this being that Claudius allowed his officials, freedmen, to influence him. Now straight away we can see how this would have angered the senate, because they had gone through the correct path on the Cursus Honourum, where as these freedmen were just given powerful positions by giving his most important tasks to his freedmen, this ensured the emperoros independence of both senate and the equestrian order. It also seems, with the dominant influence the freedmen had on Claudius, that many acts and judgements weren t his own, they were dictated by his wives and freedmen, he practically always obeyed their whims rather than his own judgement. Subsequently, we can say that Claudius looked as though he was a mere puppet, and the real rulers were his wives and freedmen. • 26. The Alien Act Of Illegal Immigration Essay Somewhere in this world there are parents lying awake at night afraid of a knock on the door that could tear their families apart, people who love this country, work hard, and want nothing more than a chance to contribute to the community and build better lives for themselves and their children. (Clinton). The first deportationlaw in the United Stateswas the Alien Act of Illegal immigrationhas long been a problem in the United States, especially since the latter half of the twentieth century. In recent discussions immigration has been the subject of heated congressional debates. Deportation along with the subject of immigration, has recently become an immense issue in the United States. On one of the hand, some argue that millions of undocumented immigrants should not be allowed to live in the United States, and should most likely exemplify fear of getting deported. From this perspective, it is said that if they are undocumented, then these immigrants have broken the law and therefore have a criminal record (Sandy). On the other hand, others argue that millions of undocumented immigrants should be allowed to live in the U.S. without any fear of getting deported. My own view is that, and I specifically state, that millions of undocumented immigrants should be allowed to live in the U.S. without any fear of getting deported. Just like all arguments, there are two sides to an argument. This opposition in particular, states those who do not believe that millions of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 27. Determining Fitness Goals 5 ways to reach your fitness goals and stay healthy: Many of us think about improving our bodies but find ourselves unable to realize those goals. We either find it too hard to follow a workout plan through with consistency, loose interest mid way or find ourselves unsure of how to reach our aims. The underlying reason behind all these obstacles is the same and that is a lack of preparedness. Even if you deeply want to get leaner or become more muscular and attractive you won t be able to go too far if you don t spend time in understanding how the human mind works. The reason for this is that bringing about a significant change in one s body is a long and tiring process; one that requires constant self supervision, restraint and dedication. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The important thing to remember here is that their are no shortcuts when it comes to re shaping your body. Yes, you can use artificial means to improve your appearance but the results will fade soon and they all eventually do more harm than good to your body So, read up about safe means of attaining your fitness aims and be sure to come up with a well rounded plan where you tackle the issue at multiple fronts. You can do this by altering your eating habits, incorporating pertinent physical exercise and avoiding unhealthy activities like smoking or alcohol that work to nullify the effects of your efforts. This will allow your fitness aims to transform into an overall healthy lifestyle which will be easier to sustain in the long run This is recommended as singular efforts such as weight loss diet plans or quick workouts tend to loose their momentum or get ignored amidst a hectic lifestyle. When you know the activities that you need to perform, turn them into an action plan whereby you incorporate these activities into your daily/ weekly routine. Then, come up with ways of managing the innate human tendencies that will inevitably and subtly try to derail you from this plan. You can do this by understanding the underlying cause of these tendencies which in most cases is a lack of accountability and a strong intrinsic motivation. So, overcome them by telling ... The samples are classified as C2 S1, C3 S1, and C4 S1 categories. 23 samples (47 percent) were placed in C2 S1 class. The C2 S1 class points to medium saline water and low sodium amount which poses no hazard of sodium exchange for agricultural usage in every type of soils. 45 percent of groundwater samples (22 samples) were in the C3 S1 class, meaning that water is highly saline, sodium is low and there is little hazard of sodium exchange. The remaining 4 samples (8 percent) were classified in the C4 S1 class. Fig 9, shows the spatial USSL Classification diagram of groundwater samples in Sarab plain. The C2 S1 was found in the east part of the study area. In this part of the study area, the aquifer is recharged from streams. Therefore, groundwater quality there has good quality. In the middle part of study area, the groundwater quality is deteriorated due to dissolution of gypsum and salts minerals in Miocene formations, cation exchange and urban wastewater. The C4 S1 was found in the west and north part of the study area and salinity and SAR has increased in the west part of study area due to Talkheh Rud river saline water (Asadollahfardi et al., 2011). Why Is It Morally Permissible To Turn The Runaway Trolley To begin with, the Trolley case is an experiment where you are put into a situation where you are on a runaway trolley where the breaks do not work and you are headed for five people and you can either hit the five people, killing them or save them by turning the trolley hitting one person and killing him. There is another scenario called the Footbridge case where you are in the same situation but in order to save the five people you have to push a fat man off a bridge stopping the trolley. This is very interesting experiment that questions human ethicsand morality. It makes you think whether or not it is morally permissible to turn the trolley. I argue that there is an important moral difference between the Trolley case and the Footbridge case because there is a difference between letting someone die to save people and killing someone to save people.... Most people believe this because they know that there is a distinct moral difference between incidentally killing someone and intentionally killing someone. Those who care a lot about how they present themselves to other people would definitely buy them out of need. These products are often sold at a high price and this is a problem to those who cannot afford them. However, recently, products of the same name but different price have been popping up in the market. Consumers all around the world would notice that these products are priced lower than the usual. These cheaper products would most probably be counterfeited beauty products. Counterfeited products are imitations of the real thing but usually sold in a reduced price. The reason why people still buy counterfeited products is because who would want to resist a bargain? Bargain prices are something good to us but considering what would happen if we buy and use these counterfeits, it would not be worth it. Even though they look the same, these counterfeits are far from the original. Therefore, it is only right that people should take proper measures to avoid buying counterfeit make up and beauty products because they are harmful to our health, impacts the economy negatively and are linked with other illegal Activities. • 37. Justification of the Right to National Self-Determination 1.Introduction Can the right to national self determination be justified? 1.1.What is the right to national self determination? The right to self determination is the right of a group to determine political action concerning the group and its members. In this case, the right to national self determination is the right of nations to have the institutions to make the political decisions that are of primary concern to the nation and its members (Shorten 2012: 44; Miller 1997: 81; Margalit and Raz 1990: 440). The right exists in international law enshrined in the Civil and Political Human Rights Covenant, and yet there is much controversy about its content, its bearers and how it ought to be implemented (Margalit and Raz 1990: 439). Further, Shorten explains, the right can be satisfied through a variety of political arrangements, ranging from the establishment of sovereign statehood, to the granting of limited rights of self government within a given territorial jurisdiction (2012: 44). 1.1.1.What is at stake? What would self determination allow nations to do? The right to national self determination is a complex issue given the many variables involved such as what constitutes the right, its bearers, etc. First, it must be determined what kind of entity is a nation. This requires a critical analysis of the criteria that groups must exhibit in order to qualify as a nation. Second, there is the question of why nations rather than other entities or groups should qualify for ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 38. Fallen Art Short Film Themes This short film criticizes war by showing us that war is bad in general, and violence is senseless. Fallen Art who was directed by Tomasz Baginski showed three themes in his short film setting points on why war is bad through three different characters. His first theme is the man in a higher power uniform that s kicking the soldiers off the ladder who represents power in the military. Then the old guy in a lab coat taking the pictures, represents the value of military life by taking pictures of the soldiers once they land from the fall. Lastly the young fat guy towards the end of the filmrepresents waras entertainment by creating art through the pictures given to him by the old guy. I believe the argument the director is trying to make through his film is that violence is senseless, and we should take in consideration those who are willing to go into war knowing the risks, and the endings it can lead to. • 39. The Statistics Of Prevalence For Child Sex Abuse Essay The statistics of prevalence for child sex abuse varies because of all the unique cases of child sex abuse that is reported. Although, statistic show that one in three girls will be sexually abused at one point in the United States and boys are one in seven to be sexually abused (Anderson, 2014). Children are not susceptible to crime as shown in the statistics because predators like pedophiles have fetishes towards little boy or girls. One study found that 10% of children experienced or came close to experiencing a form of sexual violence which would include rape, sexual assault, or harassment (Anderson, 2014). The numbers shown in the statistics are higher because of the unreported cases. 30% of cases involving child sex abuse are reported to the local authorities and 73% to 87% of female adolescents who are abused sexually are not treated or identified by by the community (Anderson, 2014). Child sex abuse is also costly because it costs the United States an estimated $103 billion for the abuse and negligence (Anderson, 2014). On another note, 80% of children who have been sexually abused have symptoms of PTSD (Anderson, 2014). Prevention of child sex abuse has risen in recent years with various programs and policies that help reduce the rate of children being abused. The once dignified country that upholds both its traditional core values are now eroding through the systemic unjust laws, which favors the affluent ones. In consequence, there is an uneven distribution of power and wealth in the United States, where some become extremely powerful and rich, while the others become miserably poor and vulnerable. This serious ramification can be seen in the widespread concerns among the Wall Street executives and the middle lower class people. In the middle ages, which started from the 5th century all the way through to the 15th century, and through early modern time which was between 15th century to around the late 18th century, crimeand punishment started to differ from what it did in the past. In the preceding years crime and punishment would be formed around cultural beliefs or by what a ruler thought was acceptable and also revolved around Roman Churches which was now being replaced by Germanic people. Now it has changed in to more of a law and church, concept and in addition to that the renewal of the penitentiary system. To begin with, the middle ages of crime and punishment in western Europe, which was stated above ranged from the time of the 5th century through the 15 century, was acknowledged for feudalist ideas. • 42. Results And Discussion On Weight Loss 3 Results And Discussion 3.1 Wear Test Figure 4 shows the results of loss in weight for the samples as a function with the applied load. It has been found that the wear behavior of unreinforced alloy is higher compared with the composites. This behavior back to the hard ceramic material protects the surface from the severe contact [30 32]. The results given in figure 5 show that the weight loss decreases as the percentage of the nano SiC particles increases from 0.5% to 4.5%. This could be occurred because the ceramic material on the composite surface protects the matrix from severe contact. Figure 4 reveals also, that when the applied load increases, the wear rate of all investigated samples increases. Conditions of the severe wear were clearly seen from the rate of weight loss. The recognized pattern is steady with that perceived by Alpas and Zhang [33] they propose the wear rate increment bit by bit with the connected load in the gentle wear area. Then again, at a discriminating load that relies upon sliding speed, the wear rate suddenly increments reflect the condition termed serious wear. From figure 6 we can see that the composites weight loss is less than that of matrix alloy. The obtained weight loss results show that no single, unique wear mechanism operates over the wide range of the used weight (0 4.5%). Rather, there are several mechanisms while the change in their relative importance as both the weight % of nano ceramic particles was varied and the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
