Dragonflies are ancient flying insects found worldwide. They have four wings, a mouth, two antennae, and a skeleton on the outside of their body. Dragonflies eat small insects and frogs using their labial mask. Their bodies have a head, thorax, abdomen, six legs, and two antennae. Dragonflies go through a life cycle where eggs are laid in water, nymphs develop underwater, then emerge as winged adults.

2. Fast Facts Dragonflies belong to 28 insect orders. Their skeleton is in the outside of their body. Dragonflies are found worldwide. They have four elongated wings, a mouth, and two short antennaes. Dragonflies are ancient flying insects.

5. Head Dragonflies have five senses just like humans. Dragonflies use its eyes on its head to see things that humans cannot. When nymphs (baby dragonflies) can’t find food they use their antennae from the top of its head to find food.

7. Unusual Characteristic Back in the carboniferous period the wingspan of dragonflies were 76cm, now there about 2.5 cm. Dragonflies get their body tempeture from their environment. Dragonflies wingspan determines their size.
