The And Temporal Information Extraction
Much of the information extraction community early focus on in tasks like named entity
recognition, co reference and relation extraction, but recently due to the high demand of temporal
information in different NLP application, scholars are focusing on event, temporal and event and
temporal information extraction and the extraction of event and temporal information became a hot
research area. Different scholars involved in event and temporal information extraction researches.
Currently there are a lot of research conducted in event and temporal information extraction in
different domains and languages with different techniques, methods and tools. In this chapter, we
present some of the works conducted in the English language related to this thesis project. The first
work we discuss is called TIE, Temporal Information Extraction system extracts events from text by
inducing as much as temporal information possible. TIE makes global inference, enforcing
transitivity to bound the beginning and finishing time for each event. TIE introduces temporal
entropy as a method to evaluate the performance of temporal IE system. TIE system outperforms in

temporal rations. They use TimeBank data [25] to train the system. TIE processes, each natural

Essay Biography of Edgar Allan Poe
Biography of Edgar Allan Poe
Many authors literary works are often influenced by their own personal life experiences. Among
these authors is Edgar Allan Poe, one of the most inventive writers of prose and poetry in the
nineteenth century. The juxtaposition of Poe s life and work is most evident in the morbid
personalities and melancholy themes of his literary compositions, similar to those of his life.
Edgar Allan Poe was born in Boston, Massachusetts on January 19, 1809. His mother, Elizabeth
Arnold Poe, had been widowed at eighteen, and two years after his birth she died of tuberculosis
at the age of twenty four. Poe s paternal grandfather had been a wealthy man, but his father, David
Poe, had left the family to become an ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In many ways she became the mother he had lost so many years ago. (Meyers, 1992, p.17).
Tragically, Jane Stanard was dying from a malignant brain tumor. By the spring of 1824 she was
confined to her bed and Edgar was not allowed to see her. When she died insane on April 28,
Edgar was devastated. Like his mother, she had deserted him, dying a painful death at a young
age. Helen became Edgar s ideal woman unattainable, beautiful, and doomed. In Edgar s mind,
beauty was now forever linked with death. (Meyers, 1992 p.17).
Perhaps as a way of holding in to the memory of Jane, Poe composed To Helen, which eloquently
describes his beloved, and the beauty and purity he saw in her. In the first of the poem s three
stanzas, Poe compares Helen s beauty to the ships of Nicea, a city near the Sea of Marmara. In
the second stanza he refers to her Naiad airs. According to Greek and Roman mythology a naiad
is a spirit that occupies springs, fountains rivers, and lakes. Her Naiad airs, we are told, have
brought the poet home To the glory that was Greece/ And the grandeur that was Rome. In the
poem s last stanza, he refers to Helen as Psyche, a Greek personification of the soul. Poe s ode to
his first love, written at the youthful age of just fifteen, is one of his most famous compositions.

European Imperialism In South Africa Essay
Throughout the 18th and 19th century, Europe underwent an Industrial Revolution. People began
relying heavily on machines. Various countries required resources for their industrial lifestyle, and
thus they enforced a policy of imperialism. Imperialism is when a country politically,
economically, and socially stronger takes control over a weaker country and utilizes the resources
from that country. However, many countries abused their power during imperialism. European
nations are guilty of abuse of power in the Congo, India, and South Africa. Firstly, the Belgians
abused their power in the Congo. The Belgians stole land from the Congolese. This led to a
widespread famine, for the Congolese previously used much of this land for hunting and... Show

After the South Africans lost the Anglo Zulu War, the British sent thousands of people to
concentration camps. In these concentration camps, the natives were exposed to many diseases
such as smallpox and measles. As a result, a great quantity of the population died. The British took
advantage of their strength and hurt the natives. Additionally, the British separated white colonists
from the natives during imperialism. They forced the natives to live in different communities from
the Europeans, and the natives had less rights. The British perceived themselves as better than the
native South Africans, so they practiced shameful racial policies in South Africa. Furthermore, the
British economically abused the South Africans. While they were in South Africa, the British only
cared about the gold mining industry, and they did anything to bolster their profit. Therefore, they
often stole land from the natives without giving compensation. Britain profited greatly from the
gold mining industry in South Africa, but they never shared their wealth with the natives.
Essentially, the British stole wealth from the natives. Britain immorally took advantage of South
Africa during imperialism. In summation, the Belgians abused their power in the Congo during the
Age of Imperialism and the British abused their power in India and South Africa during the Age of
Imperialism. Although these European countries required resources

Law Enforcement And The Ever-Changing Environment
In order to counteract the events that followed as the influx of immigrants from Cuba law
enforcement must be able to think quickly. Law enforcement is expected to make the right decision
within a matter of seconds when it comes to a life or death situation and implementing changes in
the department are no different. It is a difficult task to be able to adapt to the ever changing
environment that they are required to serve and protect. It is important that there be a strategic plan

Analysis Of The Good News In American Medicine
The video from PBS titled The Good News in American Medicine portrays the importance of a
successful and affordable health care system. Information in this film was factual and neutral
because the health care physicians and leaders worked together through trial and error to create
systems that were beneficial to many. The United States as a whole does not have the necessary
elements that it requires to satisfy the healthcare needs of all citizens; health care is expensive and
divided among many systems that differ in cost and availability. According to the National Center

A Clean Well Lighted Place Hemingway
A Clean, Well Lighted Place by Ernest Hemingway is about an old man who gets drunk every
night and frustrates the waiters; Sometimes when he gets so drunk he will walk out and not pay
his bill for the night. One of the waiters just wants to go home to bed but he can t do that because
the old man man will not leave. This short storyis about how important it is to be neat and clean.
One way the Hemingway shows it is important to be neat and clean is by mentioning how the old
man is very drunk but is still clean. The waiter said that an old man is a nasty thing and the other
waiter told him not always because the old man had not spilt anything yet and he was super drunk.
Not always. This old man is clean. He drinks without spilling. Even

Being A Reasonable Thinker
Being a reasonable thinker is a strategy that has benefit me. Working at a church could look like
working at a place that everybody has everything worked out. That is not even close in my
experience. People often thing that because we follow a faith that we will overlook things and
let things go. I had a time when I was working with young people in a competition to get
scholarships within the church. The competition is very hard and very physical. Being
reasonable help me keep my cool when my superiors would walk into my practices and ask me to
do things that were not safe or physically impossible for the kids that I had. I knew that I could ask
these kids to do that. I was not going to compromise their health because they wanted to win a
competition.

The World Of The New Country
The city would have theatres, churches, restaurants, schools, a football stadium and a Marine
zoo. The outer massive concrete wall was curved to deflect the wind above it. All around the
city, except for a gap to let ships through, would be a line of sausage shaped canisters. These
would be positioned at some distance from the wall, and being part filled with water, would float
low in the sea. These were designed to break the large waves coming towards the sea. Oceania:
The Atlantis Project Appropriately named Oceania, this new country is expected to be built off
the coast of Panama, 50 miles due east. Oceania will utilize ocean pontoon floating technology,
similar to that used by the Saigon Floating Hotel, off the coast of Saigon, Vietnam, which was
designed by Sten Sjostrand. This country will be devoted to the value of freedom, and will first
exist as a sea city in the Caribbean. Mike Oliver and Eric Klein were the founders of the Alantis
Project. They visualized a country where there would be no taxes. It would be a haven for free
thought and free enterprise. They imagined a place where one could invest or run his business
without the interference of government bureaucrats and tax extortionists. The only people one
needed to answer to would be ones customers and contractors. The architect of the project, Sten
Sjostrand designed the city taking the hexagon as a module. His structure was feasible for very
large structures, but inefficient for small communities. An

Bipolar And Bipolar Disorder ( Bipolar )
Bipolar robs you of that which is you. It can take from you the very core of your being and replace
it with something that is completely opposite of who and what you truly are (A. Reyan 2015).
Bipolar disorder is a mood disorder that alters a person s life, they can never go back to who they
were before. It is estimated that more than 10 million Americans suffer from bipolar disorder
(everydayhealth.com 2015). Bipolar disorder is broken down into two types; bipolar I and bipolar
II disorder. Bipolar I disorder must contain one manic episode in a person s life. Whereas Bipolar II
disorder requires one hypomanic episode to occur. The prevalence of Bipolar disorder is around 4%
within the United States, with only 1.0% of that being Bipolar I disorder. Not a lot of research has
been done, to determine which race is more prevalent for this disorder (NIMH.org 2015). People of
lower socioeconomic status have been linked to have higher rates of Bipolar I disorder. Bipolar I
disorder is more common among women than men, with a ratio of ~3:2 (CDC.org 2015). Bipolar I
disorder typically develops in a person s late teen or early adulthood with an average onset age of
25 years old. Bipolar I disorder is defined as manic depressive illness, is a brain disorder that
causes unusual shifts in mood, energy, activity levels, and the ability to carry out day to day tasks
(NIMH.org 2015). Symptoms need to last 7 days or have manic symptoms so severe that the person

This tape is a little old so what Ellen was experiencing was less accepted during that time. Ellen
was actually one of the first people to come out as a female celebrity. Now days the ideal of
normality has expanded. Back then people where more worries about losing their shows, sales,

displaying their lives for everyone, such as family pictures placed out on desks. There might still
be a bit of a double standard.
Give your own comment on the group discussion: It was interesting to hear about Ellen s history as
an actress coming out from some of the older students in the room. Some of them could remember
when she came out and how big of a deal it was to everyone. Now days, growing up haven known

think this is a good example of how times have changed a bit and the general public has become
more accepting. Ellen s experience also shed light onto different factors that might affect one s
decision to come out, such as its effect on one s social life or career.

Active Learning Is The Key For Understanding, Not Passive...
Active Learning is the Key to Understanding, Not Passive Learning
According to Paulo Freire, a Brazilian educator and philosopher, the current education lacks teacher
student communication. In his article he reveals that, Instead of communicating, the teacher issues
communiques and makes deposits which the students patiently perceive, memorize, and repeat.
This is the banking concept of education, in which the scope of action allowed to the students
extends only as far as receiving, filing, and storing the deposits.
Basically, Freire s argument is that education should involve student teacher knowledge exchange,
rather than the teacher being the one teaching all the time. As someone who is an educator, Freire
understands that knowledge is a result of active learning rather than passive learning. He likens the
current education to a banking system whereby the teacher just deposits information into the
students empty heads. Freire complains that this type of education does not give students the
understanding they need to connect the material with reality. In fact, he stresses out that students
just memorize what is said by the teacher without understanding the concepts. Due to that, he
further describes how the concepts taught in class seem to be disconnected from reality since the
students cannot relate how education affects their day to day lives.
Although I agree with Freire that education should not be like a banking system, I cannot accept his
overriding assumption

Analysis Of Alfred Hitchcock s Rear Window
It is a Trap
It is just as easy to fall into the trap of our voyeuristic society today as it was for the people of the
1950 s. In Alfred Hitchcock s, Rear Window voyeurism is a major theme conveyed throughout the
movie. J.B. Jefferies, Lisa, and Stella prove that human fascination with voyeurism is not only
addicting, but over time becomes contagious and emotionally detrimental.
In the beginning of the movie the audience is introduced to the main character, J.B. Jeffries. After
an injury at work, Jefferies is stuck in his apartment with little to do. This is when the idea of
voyeurism is first seen in the movie. According to Google Books, voyeurism is the observation of
another person doing a private act. J.B. spends his time looking out his window doing just that.
He peers into his neighbors apartments and watches as they live their everyday lives. He thinks
he has each of his neighbors figured out just by watching them through their windows. By the
middle of the movie Jefferies becomes so addicted to being a voyeur that he feels the need to be
closer. He therefore achieves this need by using his camera lens and telescope to look closer into
the other rooms. When this addiction of Jefferies first starts off, both Stella, his nurse, and Lisa,
his girlfriend, did not approve. Lisa and Stella find it extremely odd of Jeffries to have become so
hooked to being a voyeur that he needs to stay up late into the night just to watch his neighbors
lives unfold. By the end of

You may have to fight a battle more than once to win it. This quote is written by Margaret
Thatcher. This quote inspires me because it relates to me in real life. I ve tried so many times
on many different things, but i ve never gave up so i eventually won it or got it. For example Ar,
Ar is very hard for me because i don t like reading. Last year i got an F on my report card for Ar
each quarter. It was hard, I thought to myself i would never pass Ar. This year i was determined
to get an A in Ar. So i read as much as i can and took as much test as i can but the first quarter i
failed again. So i tried even harder, so when the next quarter s grades came out i got an A. I kept
trying and eventually i won. So that s why i chose this quote. I m pretty sure everyone can relate
themselves to this quote. This quote can mean many different things to many different people, it
can mean violence or just your goals that you wantto reach. I use this quote as my goals i set and

Who Is Andrew Jackson Democratic Dbq
Andrew Jackson was the president from 1829 to 1838. He was commonly known as the President
of the People. Some Americans criticize that Jackson was an undemocratic leader, however
Jackson should be seen as someone who stood for the principles of democracy. To be democratic
means to revolve decisions and actions around the people, citizens and noncitizens. Jackson was a
hero of democracyin early American because he increased the power of the people, put the people
first, and supported minorities.
Andrew Jackson was democratic because he increased the power of the people. In a map and
graph displaying voting rights and turnouts in 1800 and 1830, the visuals show that voting
increased for the white man. Also that after Jackson loss the election, the south had the ability to
vote for Jackson. (Doc A). Because of Jackson s loss, voting rights changed. Most states only had
taxpayer as a requirement to vote. This change allowed more people to vote, which gave them
people power to vote for who they want. According to the American Pageant, the author argues that

In Jackson s call to coloured inhabitants, he gets rid of a policy that deprived free coloured
inhabitants of Louisiana of participation in the glorious struggle for national rights . (Doc N).

presidency, citizens wanted the land of minorities. Americans who see Jackson as undemocratic

Jackson provided a designated area for Indians. This evidence shows that Jacskson is willing to

Workrate Definition
How do you define workrate?
The term workrate was introduced to me during the earlier stages of my wrestling fandom when
I stumbled upon online communities who would throw the word around quite readily. Even
with the term still in common usage, I have never seen it given a widely agreed upon and
concrete definition. In my view workrate is somewhat distinct from good work , and refers to
the athletic and mechanical aspects of a match, in addition to the fluidity of its execution,
bumping, and the like. It says very little for the emotional components of a match or wrestler, for
facials, and more complex elements of selling. Whilst this does mean that many, if not most good
workrate matches are well worked, and many high workrate wrestlers are great workers, the
contrapositive does not hold those who do not have the mechanical and athletic prowess of a high
workrate performer may very well be just as good as far as quality of match output is concerned.
Is workrate important to you?
Workrate is important to me and my enjoyment in a match, most certainly. Mitsuharu Misawaand

U.S. Involvement in 1st Persian Gulf War
One of the good things about the way the Gulf War ended in 1991 is, you d see the Vietnam
veterans marching with the Gulf War veterans (George H. W. Bush). President Bush stated that the
Persian Gulf Warwas not fully supported by the soldiers who fought in the war. Gulf War
veterans marched like Vietnam veterans because they also viewed the war as unjustified. Persian
Gulf War veterans would say, American soldiers lost their lives for oil. The first Persian Gulf War
started from August 2, 1990 and ended on February 28, 1991. This war began by the invasion of
Kuwait by Iraq. During this invasion some of the oil fields of Kuwait were set on fire and some of
the oil spilled to the Persian Gulf. The Persian Gulf was the oil supplier for western countries. So
anything happened to the Persian Gulf, the western countries will naturally react. The factors that
led to The United States involvement in the first Persian Gulf War included Saddam Hussein s
invasion of Kuwait, his control over a sizable share of the world s oil reserves and his power over
the economies of the world. Many Americans believe that the first Persian Gulf War was not
necessary for the United States.

oil in Kuwait, which had cost Iraq an estimated $14 billion a year when oil process of obtaining the

When ionic compounds are added to water dissociation can occur and the solid dissolves. But

Looking at the thermometer or water level in the test tube at an angle could give you incorrect
readings or amounts of the water required for the experiment. Having dirty equipment (something
in the test tube that makes it look fuller that it is, could be interference of measurement process.
Less water in a test tube would thus make you think you have added less of the ammonium chloride

the test tube) could also be an example of systematic error.
Identification of a random error and an explanation of how this affects the results.
Random errors are always present in a measurement. It could be caused by changes in the readings
of the thermometer of level of the amount of water in the test tube. Even differences between two
observers of the same reading of the same test tube or thermometer (parallax error) could give
different observed measurements. Random errors as seen in our two trials show up as different
results for the same repeated measurement. This could be reduced by comparing multiple
measurements and by averaging the multiple measurements.

How Gambling Should Be Made Illegal
Statistically, in 2010, the gambling industry in Canada was worth over $15 billion dollars (Derek
Miedeva)! That means that thousands of Canadians gamble each month. Most gambling is done
within a casino, consisting of slot machines, poker tables, etc. Another way to gamble includes
buying lottery tickets and simply making a bet with a friend. People who gamble take a chance.
Most times they take a chance involving money or tangible objects where each can either be lost or
won. Most people think of gamblingas a fun way to spend and evening out, when in reality
gambling has become an everyday problem for those who become dependent on the game. In the
media, it is always brought to the attention of the public when someone has won the million dollar
jackpot or strikes gold at the casino. What is not brought to the attention of others is how
sometimes the gamble can take over someone s entire life. Gambling should be made illegal due to
the possibility of adapting an addiction, leading to strains on the human body, the raise of crime
and violence in one s life, even though the gambling business provides economic and social
benefits. One serious outbreak caused by the act of gambling is the production of problem gambling
. Problem gambling is actually and impulse control disorder, where the gambler cannot control his
or her obsession. People easily become obsessed with winning the more they play, but when they
lose it all, the only goal in their mind is to obtain that next

North America was shaped through a multitude of natural occurrences.
Continued shifting and folding of the earth s crust thrust up mountain ranges.

Natural occurrences also helped for a population in the Americas. the glaciers contributed to the
origins of the continent s human history
Although it is uncertain, many believe that the glaciers of the Ice Age melted and gave way to the
Bering land bridge that allowed people to populate the Americas from Eurasia.
At the same time, the ice caps over the diverse and vast geology of the Americas melted, allowing

the Camerons and the Stoneman still showed goodness. For example when Ben Cameron was
shot at war, Phil had his sister Elsie take care of him. No matter what difficulties are between
them, they still do the right thing. Yet when they look at the blacks, they were doing nothing but
wrong. Such as when the black man chased Margaret to her death. It s not so black and white in
Within Our Gates. They focus more on each individual character. They all have a story and there
are reasonings behind their actions. For example Larry Prichard ended up shooting red during a
poker game and killing him. Now there was a motive and a purpose in larry s actions. Yesit was
wrong, but it was a realistic action anyone, of any race or gender could make. I feel like in Birth
of a Nation blacks were acting like animals and destroying things and hurting people for no reason

What Is Social Security Dysfunction
Under Social Security Disability Insurance, immune system disorders are evaluated if it causes
dysfunction in one or more components of your immune system. The dysfunction can be caused by
a couple different things but, as the official Social Security Website, SSA.gov states, dysfunction
often results due to problems in antibody production, impaired cell mediated immunity, a combined
type of antibody/cellular deficiency, impaired phagocytosis, or complement deficiency.
Immune system disorders can result in unusual and recurrent infections and can cause extreme
limitations to one organ or lesser degrees of limitation to two or more organs. Immune system

Non-Traditional Students Essay example
With today s changing world and the economy the way it is, it is not uncommon for people of all
ages to enter the college setting. In fact, two thirds of students entering the college setting are
classified non traditional (Brown, 2007). Bill (2003) found that there was an 11% increase of non
traditional student enrollment from 1991 1998 displaying 35% in 91 and 46% in 1998. These
numbers have since increased according to Jacobson Harris (2008) showing that half to 75% of

Question # 2 Career Counseling can be beneficial to everyone that seeks employment. However,
when seeking advice and assistance on something as important as a career, people should know the
credentials of the counselor. Many individuals that pursue career counseling follow a variety of
code of ethics and ethical guidelines according to Brown (2007). With this being said, it is
important that career counseling practice should be regulated.
According to Porter, Gildon, Zgliczynski (2000), people claiming to be counselors is a serious
problem in the state of California because no formal standards are set for appropriate licensure
except for that of a marriage counselor. This lack of standards and credentials causes many
problems for those seeking advice and assistance with a particular problem. More importantly, the
public is not protected even if they take a case to court and the counselor is found guilty. What is
to be taken away? He can continue to practice because he does not have a certificate to begin with.

How Does Kurt Vonnegut Use Symbols In Harrison Bergeron
Harrison Bergeron by Kurt Vonnegut is a short story about Hazel, George and their son Harrison,
and how the society they live in impacts their live. It explores satire, symbolism and what it truly
means to be equal, and is aimed towards the general public as a message about how society could
evolve into a dystopia. The theme is how true equality is found in rights and social justice, not in
removing personal attributes and qualities like beauty, strength and intelligence.
Kurt VonnegutJr. s use of symbolism effectively reinforces the main idea of the story. Throughout
the short story Harrison Bergeron , ballerinas along with their masks were used as a symbols.

The story is set in the year 2081 in the United States when everyone was finally equal (1). The
agents of the United States Handicapper General are in power, ruled by the Handicapper
General, Diana Moon Glampers. It takes place in the living room of George and Hazel Bergeron
while they are watching television. The setting represents the main fictional element of the story,
since it is set in the future and it warns us about the possible outcomes of the future. There are
also not many futuristic elements mentioned in this story, for example George and Hazel are
watching television, which is something that the average person does everyday. The only part
that is different about life in this story and life today is that everyone is equal. This really
cautions us about how soon events like this may happen. When we first read this story we thought
that it was written recently and when we noticed that it was written in 1961 it surprised us
because the technology was eerily close to what we have today. It also emphasizes the traits of
certain characters, for example George Bergeron. And George, while his intelligence was way
above normal, had a little mental handicap radio in his ear. He was required by law to wear it at all
times. It was tuned to a government transmitter (1). Without the setting, we would not know
specific information about each character s intelligence. Knowing about

While Afghanistan had always been informally Islam, the Taliban rule was the most extreme
Islamic rule seen any where in the world. The new rules they imposed where a strict interpretation
of Sharia law. Though the Taliban bases for the rules was Sharia many of the laws have no
connection to the Islamic book of rules. Some rules which Afghans were forced to follow or be
severely punished included: No music, television, no pork, pig, pig oil, anything made from human
hair, satellite dishes, cinematography, musical instruments, pool tables, chess, masks, alcohol, tapes,

Making An Adult At A Young Age
Some teens are not placed with major decisions in their young lives or forced to face adult

my step father, Jr., where arguing for hours from as late as 11 pm to 2 am, with my adolescent

My significant decision was giving my mother the ultimatum to leave my step father or I was
moving out to another familymember s home because I wanted to protect my little sisters from the
dysfunctional environment. This affected my life by making me an adult at a young age. My

Black Feminist
According to Oxford English Dictionary, Black Feminist can be defined as a movement consisting
of African American women advocating social, political, legal, and economic rights for women
equal to those of men (Oxford English Press). Black feminism argues that sexism, social class
oppression, and racism are inseparably bound together (Collins). The feminist movement has been

word found traction in Britain in the 1890s, and the United States in 1910, feminism sought to

Military Bases Analysis
I believe the primary purpose of having military bases in different countries such as colombia or
afghanistan is so that the United States will be able to respond to events that could arise but
would take longer to respond to from the United States itself.I think they mainly focus on a more
quick response time but they do also contribute to peace and stability by being that close to a
certain place. I think the bases are less important in the modern day since we have missiles capable
of traveling miles and the ability to communicate around the world in an instant. I think the amount
of bases should be cut down but be more equipped with more people and be evenly spread out

Western Views On Human Nature
Eastern Human Nature In our quest for wisdom, the question of human nature is still up to debate.
Many philosophers ranging from Socrates to Buddha has questioned the nature of human life and
of our existence. But these philosophers do not share the same beliefs about our nature. Their
beliefs are as different as their place of origin. Socrates own philosophy may not be the same as an
eastern philosopher such as the Buddha. In western philosophy there is often a focus on the
individual in the case of human nature. In eastern philosophy there are various interpretations of the
idea of human nature and our existence.
In buddhism the goal is to reach Nibbana, enlightenment. TO reach enlightenment one would,
according to Buddhist belief, is to get rid of beliefs that stem from ourselves and reality. The Four
Noble Truths represents the realities of nature that cannot be denied. The first truth is that life is
suffering. Meaning that to live is to suffer, it is not to say that the entirety of life is to suffer, but
that suffering is a part of life. The second truth is the desire for what is liable to birth, impurity,
decay, and death. All examples of suffering as a part of the normal course of life. The third truth is
that the elimination of the desire, as told by the second truth, eliminates suffering. Simply saying
that by removing these desires one also removes the origin of suffering. The fourth noble truth is
that to eliminate the desire, one must follow the Eightfold

A literary reproach of the book Moral Disorder, a collection of short stories by Margaret Atwood
examines the concept of the ethics of care, the relationship between patriarchal systems and feminist
thought, and the study of narrative fiction. The topic of feminine domestic responsibility in the
work is examined, focusing on several stories including The Bad News, The Art of Cooking and
Serving, and The Headless Horseman.
Margaret Atwood s 2006 collection of linked stories, Moral Disorder, deals with the complex ethics
of responsibility, mainly the conflict between selfishness and sacrifice that can arise within the
praxis of care. While a few stories were distributed before and independently, their get together in
this single accrual delivers a brought together cross examination of providing care. To be sure, the
requirement for mind commands these stories: the storyteller or hero looks after an assortment of
relatives, companions, outsiders, and even creatures. Be that as it may, in these stories the
requirements of care are never entirely met, and none of the people flourish because of the care they
get. I read the accumulation as an abstract commitment to ethics of care exchange that attracts
thoughtfulness regarding the misfortunes and mischief that can accompany commitment. In this
paper, she investigated how and why providing care is so frequently perilous in these stories and
what the dangerous circumstances that these stories pass on regarding the bigger perceptive of
care, including yet reaching out past their scholarly commitment.
Atwood s stories model a compelling theory of care relations as necessary and unavoidable but also
distressing and debilitating, thereby deepening readers understanding of the difficulty of care in

I.Introduction
Klebsiella pneumoniae is a gram negative bacillus enterobacterium coliform. Klebsiella pneumoniae
is a bacterium which is normally found in the human body, but several pathogenic strains cause
infections in the human body. It is a nosocomial bacterium which is resistant to many common
antibiotics. The antibiotic resistant strains are most common and cause the most concern. These
strains are easily spread throughout extended stay hospital patients and to those in community
settings with underlying diseases. Klebsiella pneumoniae is the fourth most common cause of
pneumonia in ICU patients. Research is currently focused on creating new antibiotics to which
Klebsiella pneumoniae is susceptible. Klebsiella pneumoniae is found in several different countries
around the world.
II.Structure and Physiology
The morphology of Klebsiella pneumoniae is a bacillus shaped bacterium, which means it looks
like a rod. This bacterium is also a non motile and Gram negative. This means that wherever the
bacterium was inoculated into an agar, it only grew in that spot and did not grow outwards. Being
gram negative means that the bacterium has a thin layer of peptidoglycan and stains red during the
Gram staining process. Klebsiella pneumoniae is an encapsulated bacterium, where the capsule

The Victorian era in England gave birth to the first real industrial society the world had ever

rapid rise of imperialism. Although England was progressing towards a more powerful place in
the world, its citizens seemed to be drifting in the opposite direction. Oppressive laws and
working conditions set clear boundaries between classes in England. The most oppressive social

Judge William Blackstone had announced that husbands could administer moderate correction to
disobedient wives, and there were other means: as late as 1895, Edith Lanchester s father had her
kidnapped and committed to a lunatic asylum for cohabiting with a man (Wojtczak, English
Women s History ). Although religion is not explicitly mentioned in Hard Times, religious values
were involved in the social structure of England. Social and government laws were based on
religious morals. For example, The Bible specifically states, Let the husband render unto the wife
due benevolence: and likewise also the wife unto the husband (King James Version, 1. Corinthians.
7.3). The Bible notes that the husband should treat his wife with benevolence. When one thinks of
marriage, they think of love and emotions. This certainly does not seem to be the case in Mr. and
Mrs. Gradgrind s marriage. A perfect example of this is when Mrs. Gradgrind quotes on her
deathbed, You must remember my dear, that whenever I have said anything, on any subject, I
have never heard the last of it; and consequently, that I have long left off saying anything
(Dickens 151). To expand this further, The Bible also notes that, Therefore shall a man leave his
father and his mother, and shall cleave unto his wife: and they shall be one flesh (Genesis, 2.24).
The Bible promotes the idea of a man and woman being together as one flesh. To be one is to be

The Negative Effects Of Sign Language And Sign Language
Over the last few decades, baby sign language has been a consistent hot topic all around the world.
Parents are bringing American Sign Language into the home as tool to communicate with their
infants from a very early age. Despite controversial debates regarding how sign language can
negatively affect a child s development of speech, there have been findings that prove this to be
untrue. Teaching sign language to infants facilitates early communication skills and better
interactions with the people around them. The first argument supporting baby sign language

King (2017) has research findings that show sign language to be the earliest way a child can
develop language skills and connections. Creating a platform of common understanding to
children at an early age will help them initially and in the future. Initially, it exposes infants to
language well before than can speak which gives their brains an advantage when it is time to
transition into speaking English. A child s spoken language is the main goal, but baby sign
language gives infants the opportunity to communicate much earlier than their first word. The
average baby speaks their first word around the age of two, and the average infant being taught
sign language can produce their first sign in under a year. A study done by Bonvillian, Orlansky,
and Novack observed 11 infants that were being taught sign language. Their findings revealed that
on average, the first sign was produced around eight and a half months, and the earliest baby
signed their first sign at five and a half months (Thompson, Cotnoir Bichelman, McKerchar, Tate,
Dancho, 2007). These numbers show one of the clear advantages of baby sign language. The
difference between an infant learning sign language and one who is not, is a whole year of
additional communication. It is hard enough for parents to identify the needs of their baby, but sign
language helps fill that void sooner. Pressure is taken off of both the baby and caregiver when

Differences Between Mass And Projected Area And Mass Of...
The last nine experiments listed in Table 1 have reported the projected area and mass of the
firebrands. Fig. 3 depicts the PDF and contour plots for OWB7. Figs. 3a and b, represent the
PDF for the firebrands at 4 meter and 18 meters from the fire front respectively. Considering Fig.
3c, we can realize that the correlation between mass and projected area of firebrand is stronger
than projected area and the traveling distance of the brands. This fact is more obvious at closer
distances. Moreover, the analysis of results of this experiment shows that larger brands can fly
further away from the fire which sometimes is not in agreement with other experiments. The
available data at 4 meter and 18 meter from the fire has been compared in Fig. 3d. We can observe
that heavier brands could travel further with the wind. In addition, it is understandable that the mean
and standard deviation values for mass and area of the firebrands at further distances are larger
which means that we have more variety of sizes there.
The PDF and contour plots for IWB1 are plotted in Fig. 4 and Fig.4a shows the PDF for both dry

that of the dry tray since many brands have blown away from the dry tray and burned out

Three Reasons For The Allies s Success In The Invasion
D Day was a major event in history and there are lots of reasons why the Allies had success in the
invasion. In this essay I will focus on three reasons I believe to be the most significant to victory.
Those reasons are Air Supremacy, Unique and adapted tanks and Operation Fortitude South. D Day
tanks were specialised to fit the environment of Normandy while still being effective in combat. Air
Supremacy was crucial to distract the Germans with the gliders, paratroopers, bombers, and fake

German into thinking the invasion would come at the narrowest part of the channel.
Air Supremacy was crucial for supporting the invasion and confusing the germans. It was something
the Allies needed to have a successful invasion. Before dawn on the 6th of June 1944, paratroopers

A Comprehensive Assessment Of Economic Inequality And...
Martin Gilens provides a comprehensive assessment of the economic inequality and political power
in America. He explores on how the affluence of politicians influences the political setting of the
country. According to the author, political equality is considered as the philosophy of democracy.
Due to the inequalities that exist among the citizens regarding information, social and political
affairs, it would be impractical to anticipate equal influence over policymaking. Nature and the
degree of representative inequalities depict the extent of democracy in a particular society. The
author points out that when the inequalities in the political influence intensify, democracy shifts
into oligarchy, whereby the wealthy few rule the society.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The article pinpoints the fact that it is difficult to disentangle the personal preferences of the
Congressional members from influences that could affect their behaviors in decision making. There
is no reliable technique of measuring the personal preferences of the representatives that are
unaffected by the demands presented by their constituents. Various scholars who have analyzed this
scenario have made efforts to assess the roles that are played by individual preferences through
identifying some individual characteristics that are related to the interests and preferences of the
representative. For instance, the personal wealth of the member might be linked with their
economic policy preferences, and the use of tobacco by the member may be linked to their tobacco
legislation preferences.
Gilens also carried research on the professional histories of the representatives before their entrance
to the Congress. Unlike the previous assessment that the author had carried out about the economic
status, he found out that the histories of the members are related to their Congressional voting
records. Gilens also finds significant differences between the representatives and most of the
conformist professions. The author attributes the differences to the types of districts or the states
that the authors were elected from instead of any independent influence of their professional
backgrounds. The article is further supplemented by

Security Issues Faced By Pharmaceutical Companies
It wasn t too long ago that the main security issue facing pharmaceutical companies was protecting
their intellectual property from competitors who might be so unscrupulous as to try and steal
information about new products. As computers became more entrenched in the pharmaceutical
industry, for example, a clinical trialmeans having to store patient information, security became an
issue as the pharmaceutical companies began storing patient data on their servers they must comply
with HIPAA, so patient privacy became an important cyber security issue. Always a priority, cyber
security is at the top of the list for pharmaceutical organizations as threats from terrorist groups on
pharmaceutical firms is real and increasing.
Terrorist groups use stolen information by selling it and using the proceeds for recruitment and
criminal terrorist activities. Patient information with social security numbers is also highly sought
as it can be used for stealing patient identities, opening credit lines so they are used as sources for
funding these criminal groups.
In 2015, data breaches caused great pain and expense to the pharmaceutical segment. In 2015
$5.7 billion. In 2016 it is expected that the cost of a data breach will average $221 for every
record containing confidential information. That is a 2% increase over 2015 with the average
company enduring a 7% increase; from $6.53 million per data breach to just over $7 million.

Middle Ear Disease Essay
Question 1: Is there any association between middle ear disease and schizophrenia?
Answer: The risk of developing schizophrenia is likely to be multifactorial with genetic and
environmental factors interacting or acting alone. There was considerable research interest in
finding a probable relation in between middle ear disease and insanity at the beginning of
twentieth century. A review article has been published by Bryant WS in which he has cited the
authors from as early as 1890 who thought that ear disease itself could cause insanity and even
secondary dementia1. Later, biologists have found that the left temporal lobe which lies directly
above the middle ear has large impact in the neuropathology of schizophrenia. In the mid 1990s, a

Question 2: What are the parameters for the Finite Element Model of Middle Ear?
Answer: The identification parameters for the finite element model of middle ear is based on a
model consisting of tympanic membrane, malleus and ligaments. Beer et al. has given a detailed
description of the finite element model where the eardrum is modeled as a thin curved shell, the
malleus as a rigid body with inertial properties and the ligaments as pipe elements with longitudinal,
bending and torsional stiffness1. The parameters for the finite element model of middle ear can be
divided into three groups:
1.Geometrical parameters,
2.Inertial parameters,
3.Stiffness parameters.
According to the Drescher et al., items of the first two groups were determined on the basis of
geometric measurements2. Kirikae J. has showed how to calculate the inertial parameters with
density values in his literature The Middle Ear 3. Now a days, researcher of middle ear are

Bess s mother was overly expressive about cleanliness and more often than not, she would openly
convey the importance of it as well as hand washing within their home. Bess, at the time was lost
as to why her mother would stress cleanliness so strongly and so often. This caused Bess to resist
her mother s demands at home pertaining to cleanliness but, she did comply with her mother s
value system in school (Meyer, Chapman amp; Weaver, 2009, p.44). Bess was of very high
intellect, extremely hardworking, meticulous and very successful in school.
During late adolescence, Bess began acquiring erotic fantasies but could control them by
completing crossword and jigsaw puzzles. Bess had no problems maintaining friendships with
guys; however sexual and romantic relationships were what posed a challenge. While a senior in
high school, Bess dated a college guy who frequently asked for sex, in which Bess refused. One
drunken night, they engaged in sex and from and for a period of several weeks they had sex
daily. Bess became pregnant and her mother immediately arranged for an abortion. Afterwards,
Bess continued to have vague anxieties about dating, marriage, having a family, and other related
issues (Meyer, Chapman, amp; Weaver, 2009, p. 45). Bess was determined to work even harder to
cope with these anxieties. Similar to her mother s model of cleanliness, Bess too began
experiencing these symptoms.

Environmental change is one the most genuine natural dangers confronting our world. It is urgently
critical for all organizations to reduce greenhouse gas outflows or emissions from business
operations so as to secure the earth against environmental change and achieve sustainable growth,
(Michael.B.2013, p.17) (Barry Dalal and S. 2002. p.9)
Samsung has been building up corporate level approaches or strategies to address the immediate
effect on environmental change. Through striving to decrease immediate and aberrant outflows of
greenhouse gases and avoid potential dangers via completing activities in voluntary GHG reduction
and the improvement of an inventory. (Michael.B.2013, p.17)
2.ENVIRONMENT
As indicated by the verification, a few suppliers were found to ineffectively oversee risky
substances, for example, not naming unsafe substances or not double layering containers in
preparation for water spillage or leakage. Samsung electronics gave the suppliers concerned training
on unsafe substance management and asked for improvement. Together with this, we likewise

Humanism In The Middle Ages Essay
Humanism is the belief that man has beauty, worth, and dignity. During the Middle Ages between
3rd to the 13th century, the life and culture are primarily focused on the church and religion.
However, towards the beginning of the 14th century, the power of the church began to greatly
decline. This decline was the main reason for the development of humanism. As people become less
interested about God, the afterlife, and the saints. They become more interested about themselves,
their natural world and here in now.
Many historians believe there are two main causes of this decline. The first one was the bubonic
plague. It was the Black Death in Europe that killed almost half of the population. As the plague
devastated and destroyed, the church was helpless to stop it. People then began to question spiritual

In this chapter, we present some of the works conducted in the English language related to this thesis project. The first work we discuss is called TIE, Temporal Information Extraction system extracts events from text by inducing as much as temporal information possible. TIE makes global inference, enforcing transitivity to bound the beginning and finishing time for each event. TIE introduces temporal entropy as a method to evaluate the performance of temporal IE system. TIE system outperforms in experiment in three optional approaches. The TIE system uses a probabilistic method to recognize temporal rations. They use TimeBank data [25] to train the system. TIE processes, each natural language sentence into two sequential phases. • 3. Essay Biography of Edgar Allan Poe Biography of Edgar Allan Poe Many authors literary works are often influenced by their own personal life experiences. Among these authors is Edgar Allan Poe, one of the most inventive writers of prose and poetry in the nineteenth century. The juxtaposition of Poe s life and work is most evident in the morbid personalities and melancholy themes of his literary compositions, similar to those of his life. Edgar Allan Poe was born in Boston, Massachusetts on January 19, 1809. His mother, Elizabeth Arnold Poe, had been widowed at eighteen, and two years after his birth she died of tuberculosis at the age of twenty four. Poe s paternal grandfather had been a wealthy man, but his father, David Poe, had left the family to become an ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In many ways she became the mother he had lost so many years ago. (Meyers, 1992, p.17). Tragically, Jane Stanard was dying from a malignant brain tumor. By the spring of 1824 she was confined to her bed and Edgar was not allowed to see her. When she died insane on April 28, Edgar was devastated. Like his mother, she had deserted him, dying a painful death at a young age. Helen became Edgar s ideal woman unattainable, beautiful, and doomed. In Edgar s mind, beauty was now forever linked with death. (Meyers, 1992 p.17). Perhaps as a way of holding in to the memory of Jane, Poe composed To Helen, which eloquently describes his beloved, and the beauty and purity he saw in her. In the first of the poem s three stanzas, Poe compares Helen s beauty to the ships of Nicea, a city near the Sea of Marmara. In the second stanza he refers to her Naiad airs. According to Greek and Roman mythology a naiad is a spirit that occupies springs, fountains rivers, and lakes. Her Naiad airs, we are told, have brought the poet home To the glory that was Greece/ And the grandeur that was Rome. In the poem s last stanza, he refers to Helen as Psyche, a Greek personification of the soul. Poe s ode to his first love, written at the youthful age of just fifteen, is one of his most famous compositions. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. European Imperialism In South Africa Essay Throughout the 18th and 19th century, Europe underwent an Industrial Revolution. People began relying heavily on machines. Various countries required resources for their industrial lifestyle, and thus they enforced a policy of imperialism. Imperialism is when a country politically, economically, and socially stronger takes control over a weaker country and utilizes the resources from that country. However, many countries abused their power during imperialism. European nations are guilty of abuse of power in the Congo, India, and South Africa. Firstly, the Belgians abused their power in the Congo. The Belgians stole land from the Congolese. This led to a widespread famine, for the Congolese previously used much of this land for hunting and... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... After the South Africans lost the Anglo Zulu War, the British sent thousands of people to concentration camps. In these concentration camps, the natives were exposed to many diseases such as smallpox and measles. As a result, a great quantity of the population died. The British took advantage of their strength and hurt the natives. Additionally, the British separated white colonists from the natives during imperialism. They forced the natives to live in different communities from the Europeans, and the natives had less rights. The British perceived themselves as better than the native South Africans, so they practiced shameful racial policies in South Africa. Furthermore, the British economically abused the South Africans. While they were in South Africa, the British only cared about the gold mining industry, and they did anything to bolster their profit. Therefore, they often stole land from the natives without giving compensation. Britain profited greatly from the gold mining industry in South Africa, but they never shared their wealth with the natives. Essentially, the British stole wealth from the natives. Britain immorally took advantage of South Africa during imperialism. In summation, the Belgians abused their power in the Congo during the Age of Imperialism and the British abused their power in India and South Africa during the Age of Imperialism. The United States as a whole does not have the necessary elements that it requires to satisfy the healthcare needs of all citizens; health care is expensive and divided among many systems that differ in cost and availability. That is not even close in my experience. People often thing that because we follow a faith that we will overlook things and let things go. I had a time when I was working with young people in a competition to get scholarships within the church. The competition is very hard and very physical. Being reasonable help me keep my cool when my superiors would walk into my practices and ask me to do things that were not safe or physically impossible for the kids that I had. • 9. The World Of The New Country The city would have theatres, churches, restaurants, schools, a football stadium and a Marine zoo. The outer massive concrete wall was curved to deflect the wind above it. All around the city, except for a gap to let ships through, would be a line of sausage shaped canisters. These would be positioned at some distance from the wall, and being part filled with water, would float low in the sea. These were designed to break the large waves coming towards the sea. Oceania: The Atlantis Project Appropriately named Oceania, this new country is expected to be built off the coast of Panama, 50 miles due east. Oceania will utilize ocean pontoon floating technology, similar to that used by the Saigon Floating Hotel, off the coast of Saigon, Vietnam, which was designed by Sten Sjostrand. This country will be devoted to the value of freedom, and will first exist as a sea city in the Caribbean. Mike Oliver and Eric Klein were the founders of the Alantis Project. They visualized a country where there would be no taxes. It would be a haven for free thought and free enterprise. They imagined a place where one could invest or run his business without the interference of government bureaucrats and tax extortionists. The only people one needed to answer to would be ones customers and contractors. The architect of the project, Sten Sjostrand designed the city taking the hexagon as a module. • 10. Bipolar And Bipolar Disorder ( Bipolar ) Bipolar robs you of that which is you. It can take from you the very core of your being and replace it with something that is completely opposite of who and what you truly are (A. Reyan 2015). Bipolar disorder is a mood disorder that alters a person s life, they can never go back to who they were before. It is estimated that more than 10 million Americans suffer from bipolar disorder (everydayhealth.com 2015). Bipolar disorder is broken down into two types; bipolar I and bipolar II disorder. Bipolar I disorder must contain one manic episode in a person s life. Whereas Bipolar II disorder requires one hypomanic episode to occur. The prevalence of Bipolar disorder is around 4% within the United States, with only 1.0% of that being Bipolar I disorder. Not a lot of research has been done, to determine which race is more prevalent for this disorder (NIMH.org 2015). People of lower socioeconomic status have been linked to have higher rates of Bipolar I disorder. Bipolar I disorder is more common among women than men, with a ratio of ~3:2 (CDC.org 2015). Bipolar I disorder typically develops in a person s late teen or early adulthood with an average onset age of 25 years old. Bipolar I disorder is defined as manic depressive illness, is a brain disorder that causes unusual shifts in mood, energy, activity levels, and the ability to carry out day to day tasks (NIMH.org 2015). • 12. Active Learning Is The Key For Understanding, Not Passive... Active Learning is the Key to Understanding, Not Passive Learning According to Paulo Freire, a Brazilian educator and philosopher, the current education lacks teacher student communication. In his article he reveals that, Instead of communicating, the teacher issues communiques and makes deposits which the students patiently perceive, memorize, and repeat. This is the banking concept of education, in which the scope of action allowed to the students extends only as far as receiving, filing, and storing the deposits. Basically, Freire s argument is that education should involve student teacher knowledge exchange, rather than the teacher being the one teaching all the time. As someone who is an educator, Freire understands that knowledge is a result of active learning rather than passive learning. He likens the current education to a banking system whereby the teacher just deposits information into the students empty heads. Freire complains that this type of education does not give students the understanding they need to connect the material with reality. In fact, he stresses out that students just memorize what is said by the teacher without understanding the concepts. Due to that, he further describes how the concepts taught in class seem to be disconnected from reality since the students cannot relate how education affects their day to day lives. Although I agree with Freire that education should not be like a banking system, I cannot accept his overriding assumption ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 13. Analysis Of Alfred Hitchcock s Rear Window It is a Trap It is just as easy to fall into the trap of our voyeuristic society today as it was for the people of the 1950 s. In Alfred Hitchcock s, Rear Window voyeurism is a major theme conveyed throughout the movie. J.B. Jefferies, Lisa, and Stella prove that human fascination with voyeurism is not only addicting, but over time becomes contagious and emotionally detrimental. In the beginning of the movie the audience is introduced to the main character, J.B. Jeffries. After an injury at work, Jefferies is stuck in his apartment with little to do. This is when the idea of voyeurism is first seen in the movie. According to Google Books, voyeurism is the observation of another person doing a private act. J.B. spends his time looking out his window doing just that. He peers into his neighbors apartments and watches as they live their everyday lives. He thinks he has each of his neighbors figured out just by watching them through their windows. By the middle of the movie Jefferies becomes so addicted to being a voyeur that he feels the need to be closer. He therefore achieves this need by using his camera lens and telescope to look closer into the other rooms. When this addiction of Jefferies first starts off, both Stella, his nurse, and Lisa, his girlfriend, did not approve. Lisa and Stella find it extremely odd of Jeffries to have become so hooked to being a voyeur that he needs to stay up late into the night just to watch his neighbors lives unfold. By the end of ... Last year i got an F on my report card for Ar each quarter. It was hard, I thought to myself i would never pass Ar. This year i was determined to get an A in Ar. So i read as much as i can and took as much test as i can but the first quarter i failed again. So i tried even harder, so when the next quarter s grades came out i got an A. • 16. Who Is Andrew Jackson Democratic Dbq Andrew Jackson was the president from 1829 to 1838. He was commonly known as the President of the People. Some Americans criticize that Jackson was an undemocratic leader, however Jackson should be seen as someone who stood for the principles of democracy. To be democratic means to revolve decisions and actions around the people, citizens and noncitizens. Jackson was a hero of democracyin early American because he increased the power of the people, put the people first, and supported minorities. Andrew Jackson was democratic because he increased the power of the people. In a map and graph displaying voting rights and turnouts in 1800 and 1830, the visuals show that voting increased for the white man. Also that after Jackson loss the election, the south had the ability to vote for Jackson. (Doc A). Because of Jackson s loss, voting rights changed. Most states only had taxpayer as a requirement to vote. This change allowed more people to vote, which gave them people power to vote for who they want. • 17. Workrate Definition How do you define workrate? The term workrate was introduced to me during the earlier stages of my wrestling fandom when I stumbled upon online communities who would throw the word around quite readily. Even with the term still in common usage, I have never seen it given a widely agreed upon and concrete definition. In my view workrate is somewhat distinct from good work , and refers to the athletic and mechanical aspects of a match, in addition to the fluidity of its execution, bumping, and the like. Involvement During The Persian Gulf War .Mohammadamin Montazer Mr. Kanna U.S. History, period 1 29 May 2015 U.S. Involvement in 1st Persian Gulf War One of the good things about the way the Gulf War ended in 1991 is, you d see the Vietnam veterans marching with the Gulf War veterans (George H. W. Bush). President Bush stated that the Persian Gulf Warwas not fully supported by the soldiers who fought in the war. Gulf War veterans marched like Vietnam veterans because they also viewed the war as unjustified. Persian Gulf War veterans would say, American soldiers lost their lives for oil. The first Persian Gulf War started from August 2, 1990 and ended on February 28, 1991. This war began by the invasion of Kuwait by Iraq. During this invasion some of the oil fields of Kuwait were set on fire and some of the oil spilled to the Persian Gulf. The Persian Gulf was the oil supplier for western countries. So anything happened to the Persian Gulf, the western countries will naturally react. The factors that led to The United States involvement in the first Persian Gulf War included Saddam Hussein s invasion of Kuwait, his control over a sizable share of the world s oil reserves and his power over the economies of the world. Many Americans believe that the first Persian Gulf War was not necessary for the United States. On August 2, 1990, Iraqi leader, Saddam Hussein, attacked Kuwait as a result of overproduction of oil in Kuwait, which had cost Iraq an estimated $14 billion a year when oil process of obtaining the ... The topic of feminine domestic responsibility in the work is examined, focusing on several stories including The Bad News, The Art of Cooking and Serving, and The Headless Horseman. Margaret Atwood s 2006 collection of linked stories, Moral Disorder, deals with the complex ethics of responsibility, mainly the conflict between selfishness and sacrifice that can arise within the praxis of care. • 39. The Negative Effects Of Sign Language And Sign Language Over the last few decades, baby sign language has been a consistent hot topic all around the world. Parents are bringing American Sign Language into the home as tool to communicate with their infants from a very early age. Despite controversial debates regarding how sign language can negatively affect a child s development of speech, there have been findings that prove this to be untrue. Teaching sign language to infants facilitates early communication skills and better interactions with the people around them. The first argument supporting baby sign language addresses the ongoing debate that argues teaching infants sign language delays his or her speech. Research has found just the opposite. A study conducted by Goodwyn, Acredolo, and... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... King (2017) has research findings that show sign language to be the earliest way a child can develop language skills and connections. Creating a platform of common understanding to children at an early age will help them initially and in the future. Initially, it exposes infants to language well before than can speak which gives their brains an advantage when it is time to transition into speaking English. A child s spoken language is the main goal, but baby sign language gives infants the opportunity to communicate much earlier than their first word. The average baby speaks their first word around the age of two, and the average infant being taught sign language can produce their first sign in under a year. A study done by Bonvillian, Orlansky, and Novack observed 11 infants that were being taught sign language. Their findings revealed that on average, the first sign was produced around eight and a half months, and the earliest baby signed their first sign at five and a half months (Thompson, Cotnoir Bichelman, McKerchar, Tate, Dancho, 2007). These numbers show one of the clear advantages of baby sign language. The difference between an infant learning sign language and one who is not, is a whole year of additional communication. It is hard enough for parents to identify the needs of their baby, but sign language helps fill that void sooner. Pressure is taken off of both the baby and caregiver when ... • 40. Differences Between Mass And Projected Area And Mass Of... The last nine experiments listed in Table 1 have reported the projected area and mass of the firebrands. Fig. 3 depicts the PDF and contour plots for OWB7. Figs. 3a and b, represent the PDF for the firebrands at 4 meter and 18 meters from the fire front respectively. Considering Fig. 3c, we can realize that the correlation between mass and projected area of firebrand is stronger than projected area and the traveling distance of the brands. This fact is more obvious at closer distances. Moreover, the analysis of results of this experiment shows that larger brands can fly further away from the fire which sometimes is not in agreement with other experiments. The available data at 4 meter and 18 meter from the fire has been compared in Fig. 3d. We can observe that heavier brands could travel further with the wind. In addition, it is understandable that the mean and standard deviation values for mass and area of the firebrands at further distances are larger which means that we have more variety of sizes there. The PDF and contour plots for IWB1 are plotted in Fig. 4 and Fig.4a shows the PDF for both dry and wet trays. Since we did not have access to individual brand information, using the presented table in their paper, Table 7 here, we assume the averagevalue of area for each category and for S 4, we assumed the brand area is 5 cm2. The number of the brands in the wet tray is greater than that of the dry tray since many brands have blown away from the dry tray and burned out ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

There is no reliable technique of measuring the personal preferences of the representatives that are unaffected by the demands presented by their constituents. Various scholars who have analyzed this scenario have made efforts to assess the roles that are played by individual preferences through identifying some individual characteristics that are related to the interests and preferences of the representative. For instance, the personal wealth of the member might be linked with their economic policy preferences, and the use of tobacco by the member may be linked to their tobacco legislation preferences. Gilens also carried research on the professional histories of the representatives before their entrance to the Congress. Unlike the previous assessment that the author had carried out about the economic status, he found out that the histories of the members are related to their Congressional voting records.
