Beethoven s Major Accomplishments
Ludwig van Beethoven was a famous composer between the Classical and Romantic eras. He was
born in December of 1770, in Bonn, Germany. Ludwig had a terrible childhood, because of his dad
who was an alcoholic most of his life, who was also a musician himself, and with that his father would
make him play the piano and practice every day and would smack him if he made a mistake. This is
how he developed such a talent for music, because of his father. Although he was deaf, he made most
of his famous and important works during that time. He still remains to be the most famous and
influential composers of all time. At the age of seventeen, his teacher and mentor sent him to Vienna,
to study more in depth of the art of music. There in Vienna, he was able to meet great musicians and
composers, such as Mozart. Ludwig would continue to grow in his knowledge of music and writing
great symphonies. From his time in Vienna, he began to excel and people began to notice him. This all
started his impact on music. From Beethoven s famous works, moonlight sonata to the 3rd symphony,
Beethoven is considered as the most well known composer between the transitions of classical music
to the romantic era. (Biography Par. 3) In 1798 when he was 26 years old, he noticed that ... Show

As the book states, Beethoven was considered to be the bridge between the Classical and Romantic
eras. Many of his methods were used by composers long after him. Beethoven paved the way many
composers wrote their music by the tension and intensity in his music. From the range of pitch and
color tone, it would add such character to the music to make it come alive (McGraw 191). During the
early years of Beethoven s pieces, Mozart was the main influence, however, other pieces clearly show
his individuality and particular

Donald Trump Pathological Filter
What s the most common reason people voice for supporting Donald Trump? Most would respond
with, He tells it like it is. But does he? What I would like to do in this chapter is unpack the meaning
of that statement. It is true, no doubt, that Donald s mouth filter is broken. Fact is, it was either never
installed or, it was removed a long time ago. The political Left has been pushing more and more
stringent mouth filters on the American public for some time now. Many in America are getting sick
and tired of it. The whole society has come to the place where we are all just walking (talking) on
eggshells. Careful, you might offend someone. That s not P.C. , the world says. The result of all this
nonsense has not served to produce more respectful ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
One of my favorite authors, who became a Christian during his own journey of the soul, was M. Scott

The Lie, he embodies it. When people say they like Donald Trump because, He s genuine , they are
correct. He is genuinely false. He is genuinely disingenuous. There is a segment of sick individuals
genuinely pathological. Can something false, be genuine? Absolutely. People who live and practice
deception, are not just deceptive, they become genuine deceivers. They start believing their own lies.
Do not mistake authenticity for truthfulness. Again, it begs the question. Authentically what? Donald
Trump is absolutely authentic. There is a purity about him. He is purely false, and will soon become
purely evil. Trump years ago said, I believe [the media] like making me out to be something more
sinister than I really am. ( 60 Minutes , 1985). Notice he is admitting that he is sinister. The definition
of sinister is, giving the impression that something harmful or evil is happening or will

Informative Essay On Charcoal Grill
Obviously, cooking with a charcoal grill is not as simple as what you see in the movies you sure don t
just turn it on! But, people still opt for grilling different food items with a charcoal grill.
People who favor charcoal don t mind that it s a little harder to handle and takes longer to cook than
other grilling methods. Outdoor enthusiasts continue to think the distinctive smoky aroma and flavor
you get with using charcoal makes the added effort worthwhile.
An excellent choice for backpackers would be a very light weight stainless steel charcoal grill. They
would appreciate how easy it could be carried and stored. However, since the unit would be smaller,
its capacity would be restricted. Cooking for a group of people would require you to make multiple
batches of hot dogs and burgers to appease everyone s appetite. ... Show more content on

Roman Catholic Church Research Paper
The Roman Catholic Church is ruled by the Pope in Vatican City, Rome. He rules over all Catholic
Churches in the world and many Catholics make it their life long dream to visit Vatican City one day
and to attend Mass with the Pope. The origin of this Christian denomination leads all the way back to
apostolic times. The rituals that the Roman Catholic Church has are very similar to Christian rituals
which include baptism and confirmation. Most Catholics who attend the Roman Catholic Church
follow and obey the Bible and the way in which their church interprets it. The Roman Catholic Church
is very similar but also very different in certain areas to Protestant beliefs but overall it is up to
personal opinion as to what religion an individual will ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Free will is the power of making free choices unconstrained by external agencies. For the Catholics
this statement is good for them as they are free to do good or evil. But for Protestants, this is not the
case. They are only free to do good things. Predestination is being determined in advance where God
chooses what will happen to you in life and what happens to you in the after life. Catholics believe
that your predestination is based on God s foreknowledge of you and your actions while Protestants
believe that your predestination is related to God s decrees. The interpretation of the Bible is different
as the Catholic interpretation includes apocrypha which are books of the Bible that are added in to the
Old Testament. While Protestants omit these 14 books of the Bible. These are just a few differences
between the Protestants and the beliefs of the Roman Catholic Church. Marriage is accepted in both
religions and shows the unity of two people and shows their beliefs and sacrifices for God. Divorce on
the other hand, is accepted by Protestants but discouraged and is accepted as evidence of human
weakness. While with Catholics, divorce is looked down upon unless there is some canonical
obstruction in which an annulment may be granted in this situation. Eucharist is the

Art Greek Analysis
Here we are; another week, another article. Last time we covered the heavy stuff, including the early
history of oriental rugs and some common terms to familiarize yourself with. This week we re talking
about what s on the rugs: their designs! I tend to be kind of an art geek. What can I say? I m drawn to
interesting images, and art has some of the most intriguing images to offer. Art galleries, museums, art
blogs; all of it! What I love most about art is the meaning behind the shapes and colors chosen.
Granted, not all art has a deeper meaning beyond whatever the artist splattered onto a blank canvas. In
that case, it s all in the eye of the beholder. Oriental rugs feel like art to me, and I like to collect art

Agriculture In The Mayan Civilization
The imbalancing between the Mayan population and the effective magnitude of their agriculture
suggest the situation of the Mayan people in the availability to their long term survival. The Mayans
showed increasement in their population expeditiously which resulted in higher demand for food for
the people to consume. Consequently, in order for the Mayans to manage the increasing population,
the Mayans turned to use their accessible land over to cultivation. (Drew 139) With this in mind, the
author, David Drew, asked an intrigued question of how much food the land could produced for the
Mayans? (138) By all means, the question David Drew issued, could not be possible to thoroughly

Given that, the Mayan regions displayed a different variety of soil fertility and localized weather
patterns that affected the circumstances for agriculture to many different portions of areas around the
southern regions of Mesoamerica. (139) In fact, farmers, who currently cultivate as the similar system
the Mayans practiced and lives in parts of ancient southern regions of Mesoamerica, announced that
soils in the area will naturally diminish over the years in productivity, fertility, and crop yields. (139)
With the attention of the growing Mayan population, the Mayan people were in need of retaining the
food demand of the Mayan population by cultivating in the remaining lands near their regions that are
enriched in soil. With this in mind to the naturally constant changing of the soils, the Mayans enforced
to cut down the time of fallow for their fields which eventually be in high risk strategy in resulting in a
cultivation catastrophe for temporary ends. (139) Altogether, the Mayan population and the
effectiveness of their agriculture may determine the situation for the Mayan people to their long term

Abortion is Not the Reason for Lower Crime Rates Essay
What is wrong with the ivory tower? The appointment of Peter ( Death to Disabled Newborns! )
Singer to the bioethics faculty at Princeton University has generated considerable controversy.
Recently, University of Chicago economist Steven Levitt and Stanford University Law School
professor John Donohue III created a furor with their research paper Legalized Abortion and Crime.
The authors contend that legalized abortion fueled the drop in crime in the 1990s because a new
subclass of humanity they ve identified women most at risk to have children who would engage in

the Children of the Poor People in Ireland from Being a Burden to their Parents or Country ...
proposes to pay mothers for breeding and nursing their children. Poor mothers with many children
would not then be forced to spend their days begging and could undertake some gainful employment.
And infants would be sold at 12 months, after weaning, as a tasty delicacy for the gentry. The
commonwealth would then be rid of children who might turn thieves for want of work. Swift minutely
calculates the monetary benefits to the nation, just as Donohue and Levitt tote up the ever so
speculative savings from executing likely criminals in utero.
Unfortunately, it appears that many people are accepting Levitt and Donohue s hypothesis as Revealed
Truth (no matter that the paper is unpublished and not peer reviewed). A few random observations
about their methodology and assumptions may illuminate the paths which led them to error.

Slaves In History Research Paper
There were more than 80,000 slaves in ancient greece? There were so many jobs that slaves did that s
why there were so many of them. Without slaves our world would have been a lot different now than it
was. Slaves worked as factory workers, farm workers, and more. They impacted their lives by a lot,
and is a big part of our history.
What Slaves Did
Slaves were servants, factory workers, shopkeepers, mine workers, and many other things that they
would want them to do. They had slaves do their work because they didn t want to do it themselves.
They had to work for their owners, and they didn t have a choice unless they wanted to get wiped and
other stuff. Or they were also starved to death. Some slaves were captured by kidnappers or as
prisoners of war and sold them as slaves, so they didn t have to do the work, It was hard to find out
who kidnapped them because they were really sneaky at it, and a lot of people did it.
How they became slaves
All slaves were born free, but they were captured by kidnappers. That s how they became slaves, or
their parents could have sold them to slavery. If there parents didn t have money they would sell them
and it was normal back then. That s how they became slaves. Some chose to work for other people, or

The Pros And Cons Of Homogenity
The Truth Untold...
God made all men equal . This is what we have been told by our wise elders since childhood. Even the
holy scriptures belonging to various religions teach the same. But history is a witness for every act and
deed which contradicted this moral which we have been learning, where majority of a kind cornered
the minorities and exploited them; first on the basis of gender, then color, followed by religion and
then by nationality and then by language and so forth. But this does not end here. Individuals have
been oppressed even on the basis of their orientation(sexuality) and gender identity, not just in the
recent times but far to longer than we can guess.

They don t want to spend years debating an issue. They want it homogenized, sanitized, and above all,

that deliberateness, it turns out, is their strength. They take time to think through complex problems
before they act. People, however, are different. People react first from the gut and then from the head.
And when such people are in power, policy becomes instinct rather than thought.
During the British raj of the 1860s, the colonizers introduced a law, now popularly known as IPC

words, did not lead to reproduction. This same law still prevails in the constitution, making the lives
of the rainbow people miserable, making them vulnerable to threats, hate crimes, physical abuse,
extortion and a lot more. The transgender community or the hijras are the people who are affected by
this the most. Where many customs demand blessings of the third gender, many people grunt when a
transgender crosses their way. This marginalized and economically backward section has faced untold
tortures. Due to unemployment, many of them sell themselves to earn their bread whereas the rest beg

Essay on Japanese Internment in Canada
The core of the Japanese experience in Canada lies in the shameful and almost undemocratic
suspension of human rights that the Canadian government committed during World War II. As a result,
thousands of Japanese were uprooted to be imprisoned in internment camps miles away from their
homes. While only a small percentage of the Japanese living in Canada were actually nationals of
Japan, those who were Canadian born were, without any concrete evidence, continuously being
associated with a country that was nothing but foreign to them. Branded as enemy aliens , the
Japanese Canadians soon came to the realization that their beloved nation harboured so much hate and
anti Asian sentiments that Canada was becoming just as foreign to them as ... Show more content on

The initial reaction to Pearl Harbor was to take cautious emergency actions to avert civil unrest. Soon,
the Canadian government passed the War Measures Act. It gave permission to intern all undesirable
Japanese, tie up every Japanese owned fishing boat in British Columbia, close all Japanese language
schools, forbid the publishing of newspapers in Japanese, and seize all Japanese property. All of which
were subsequently carried out. In 1941, there were twenty three thousand five hundred Japanese
persons in Canada, residing mainly on the coast of British Columbia. Of that, six thousand seven
hundred were Canadian born, seven thousand were naturalized citizens, and the rest were nationals of
Japan. However, nothing could make any difference. To the typical, white British Columbian, the
Japanese were all lower class citizens. Five hours after the attack on Pearl Harbour, forty eight
Japanese planes bombed Hong Kong where two Canadian battalions were stationed, and were
inflicted with heavy casualties. The problem of the resident Japanese in British Columbia was then
quickly set into the mainstream focus. Prior to declaring war on Japan, Mackenzie King had stated
that the enemy country had wantonly and treacherously attacked British territory, and that Japan s
actions [were] a threat to the defence and freedom of Canada.

Symbolism In The Book Thief
In The Book Thief, Mark Zusak uses symbolism throughout the story to create a profound meaning
behind characters actions , bringing more emotion and significance to the plot. Character Hans
Hubermann s accordion symbolizes many different aspects including comfort and hope, eventually
affecting most characters throughout the plot of the story. The colors Blue and Red are used by death
throughout the novel to symbolize scenes of good and evil. Lastly, Basements symbolize a safe and

Hubermanns are committing a crime by hiding Max. In The Book Thief, symbolism channels a
relationship between characters and certain aspects of the story. Hans accordion, colors , and the
basement are symbols creating a more interesting plot by signifying ideas and qualities.
To Liesel Meminger, the accordion is a symbol of prosperity, hope, and a distraction. Through times of
distress, Hans accordion was there to soothe and relax her. When liesel arrived at Himmel street she
was overwhelmingly nervous and scared but one thing that gave her hope was the beautiful sound of
Hans accordion. On september 19, 1942 Liesel experienced a very real and horrific air raid forcing
members of the community to seek shelter in the Fielders basement. Liesel remembered the
accordions ability to alleviate stress from a situation and wanted the community to experience the
same. This lead liesel into reading The Whistler.

The Wines Of Spain ( California )
The Wines of Spain
During my young and foolish years, I was a confirmed wine snob; at least as it applied to the red
wines I drank. If they didn?t come from Bordeaux, France, I didn?t consider them worthy. Typically,
my purchases would feature wines from M?doc, Margaux, Pauillac, Saint Emilion, Pomerol and
Graves. This all changed in my late forties, I was gifted with several bottles of red wine from various
countries including Australia, Chile and the United States (California). Begrudgingly, I accepted the
fact that good red wine needn?t come from France.
This oenophilia did not preclude my consumption of ?inferior? wines; it merely dispatched them to a
list of wines I would never consider buying for myself. I assumed that if I couldn?t ... Show more

Nevertheless, despite my experience in Colorado, I did start expanding my horizons with red wines
until my forties.
I had learned of the pleasures of the red wines from Piedmont, Italy. The incredible richness of
Australian Shiraz proved it as an acceptable alternative to its Rhone Valley cousin. However, it took
another experience with Rioja in my early fifties to start my exploration of Spanish wines.
Overview
To do justice to the subject of Spanish wines requires more than a single post, coverage befitting the
third largest producer of wine, behind France and Italy, simply cannot be done within the limits of a
single short article and summarization does a disservice to the exceptional wine making reputation of
Spain?s dedicated vintners.
Any worthwhile discussion of Spain?s wine making needs to include, at a minimum, an overview of
the wine making regulations, under which vintners operate, the labeling requirements and what that
means that means to consumers. After ?lo these concepts are covered, a discussion of the wine
growing areas, the grape varietals and the resulting wines produces a sharper picture of Spain?s wines.
A Brief Historical Perspective
Spain has been growing grapes and making wine for centuries, with traditions as reputable as from
any of the other European wine countries. However, the events of the past few decades, from the
1980s until now have resulted in something of a revolution in

Whale Rider Essay
In the Whale Rider, Nani Flowers is a stronger role model than Koro. She always advocated for Kahu,
and continuously stood up against Koro s traditional beliefs about women. Secondly, Nani Flower was
forgiving and altruistic towards everyone, even with Koro, in spite of his rigid attitude with Kahu. In
contrast, Koro was blinded by tradition, thus making Kahu feel as if she was not good enough for
Koro simply due to the fact that she was a girl, a factor she could not control. Therefore, Nani Flowers
is evidently the better role model. Nani Flowers has always supported Kahu. When Kahu was first
born, Koro Apirana was against Kahu just being named after his ancestor, so burying her birth cord
anywhere near the long house would be very unacceptable in his eyes (page 25). Even with this in
mind, Nani still buried Kahu s birthcord In the sight of Kahutia Te Rangi (page 29). Another example
of this supportive behavior is when Kahu came home crying because of Koro, and the whales dying in
the movie (pages 46 48). Not only did Nani argue with her husband, Koro, she kicked him out because
he would not reconcile his traditional beliefs about Maori leadership and rights with Kahu s birth
(page 48). Lastly, throughout the whole novel, Nani Flowers has repeatedly encouraged and stood up
for Kahu, especially against Koro s outlook on Kahu (pages 38, 50, 56 57, 89). ... Show more content

Types Of Cell Surface Receptors And The Mitogen Activated...
Introduction
Cell surface receptors are integral membrane proteins that play a major role in signal transduction,
allowing the function of Neurons, muscles and sensory organs to occur. Their basic function is to carry
out the process of signal transduction by binding to an extracellular signalling molecule. Cell surface
receptors regulate gene transcription, ion flux in the neurons and growth factors. This regulation
allows the human body to function with little error. They detect the smallest of changes and respond
with a cascade of signalling events appropriately. I am going to describe the four main types of cell
surface receptors and the Mitogen activated protein cascade in receptor tyrosine kinases.

GPCRs consist of alpha helical segments separated by these intracellular and extracellular loops
(Figure 1) Figure 1 Structure of G protein coupled receptor, showing alpha helical proteins attached to
the three subunits of the G protein.
GPCRs are associated with a G protein, which is heterotrimeric i.e. they consist of three different
subunits: an alpha subunit, a beta subunit, and a gamma subunit (Figure 1). (Scitable by nature) G
proteins are specialized proteins with the ability to catalyse the exchange of guanosine triphosphate
(GTP) and guanosine diphosphate (GDP). (Scitable by nature)
The G protein receptor is coupled to a trimeric G protein and controls the effector protein. The
receptors activate cytosolic or nuclear transcription via several pathways. They are involved in signal
transduction pathways such as MAP kinase pathway. (Lodish et al.).
When a signalling molecule such as Epinephrine, serotine and adenosine is released and binds to the
extracellular receptor site of the GPCR, the G protein changes conformation and GTP replaces the
GDP on the alpha subunit of the G protein (Figure 2). This activated alpha subunit then parts from the
beta and gamma subunits. The alpha subunit becomes inactive when the ligand leaves the receptor site
and the receptors own phosphorylase activity removes a phosphate from the GTP molecule, therefore
leaving GDP bound to the alpha subunit and the reformation of the 3 subunits. Figure

Impact Of Labor Force In The 21st Century
There is a great change going on in employment trend and labor force in the U.S. in 21st century
because of aging, diversity immigrants and few other factors and it s a dramatic change, from 1950 to
2050. This massive demographic change has an impact on the number of people working or people
looking for work. In the beginning of 21st century the demand for labor force has increased which is
one of the main source for growth and economic progress. Growth rate in population and labor force
has changed the trend in employment today compare to 1950. Today more older people are working,
its more diversified and more women are involved at workplace. There are going to be significant
changes in coming years compare to past 50 years. For example, labor growth rate will be less than
what we had in past 50 years. As per the Mitra Toossi s article A century of change: the U.S. labor
force, 1950 2015 , The high growth rate of civilian labor force in the past 50 years will be replaced by
much lower growth rates in the next 50 years . The main reason to this slowdown in growth of the
labor force is high tech innovation which is reducing the demand of traditional labor force.
Another demographic change in the employment trend is the change in gender structure. We have seen
more number of women at workplace compare past 50 years and their number at work place are
increasing very fast. This change came because of equal rights to women at workplace plus they are
more involved with their

Case 1: Greetings Inc.: Job Order Costing
1. Define and explain the meaning of a predetermined manufacturing overhead rate that is applied in a
job order costing system? A predetermined overhead rate is the rate used to apply manufacturing
overhead to work in process inventory. The predetermined overhead rate is calculated before the
period begins. The first step is to estimate the amount of the activity base that will be required to
support operations in the upcoming period. The second step is to estimate the total manufacturing cost
at that level of activity. The third step is to compute the predetermined overhead rate by dividing the

1900 1910
At the beginning of the 20th century a New York editorialist wrote that the 20th century began in the
United States with a sense of euphoria and self satisfaction, a sure feeling that America is the envy of
the world (World History Timeline 1900 1901 ). The president was Teddy Roosevelt, who enjoyed
enormous popularity due to the general happiness of the American people. A thriving industry created
many jobs for immigrants and others. A monumental event took place in 1901 when the New York
Stock Exchange exceeded 2 million shares for the first time ever (World History Timeline 1900 1901

Manchuria and Korea, and the Russians were forced to surrender (Historical Daily Almanac 1905 ).
Also around the globe, in the field of psychology, the great Sigmund Freud wrote a book called The
Interpretation of Dreams (Magill 14). This book documented Freud s theory that dreams are
meaningful and can be understood. Another great mind of that era was Albert Einstein. He came up
with his theory of relativity in 1905(Magill 19).
Great artists of the world were also creating some of their most brilliant work during this decade.
Henri Matisse fought to find the artistic freedom he needed by creating the Fauvist movement in the
early 1900 s(Pioch 2). Fauvism led to the larger movement called Expressionism, a term used to
describe any art that raises subjective feelings above objective observations (Pioch 4). Georges
Rouault was another pioneer of the Expressionist movement; he was a Frenchman who linked the
decorative effects of Fauvism in France with the symbolic color of German Expressionism (Pioch 6).
Another leading artist of the time period was Ernst Ludwig Kirchner, a German who wanted his art to
be a bridge to the future (Pioch 6). These men were very important artists, but

Pecking order Theory
Pecking order theory was introduced by Donaldson in 1961 and modified by Stewart C. Myers and

Vengeance In The Epic Of Beowulf
Beowulf is a heroic poem that gives the audience an idea of what the past was like. The Anglo Saxon
period was a time where people had a blood for blood mentality. In Beowulf, vengeance is used to
achieve glory, wealth, and fame. Beowulf earns these by avenging the death of others.
First, Beowulf uses battles to earn more glory and a higher praise for himself. Beowulf s first major
battle was with Grendel; he battles Grendel to help the people of Herot, but more importantly to gain
more glory for himself. By doing this, people will remember him as the daring soldier who killed the
giant. Grendel s mother was Beowulf s second major clash; Beowulf gains even more praise when he
rises to the challenge to kill Grendel s mother. Once again, after carrying out his promise, Beowulf is
known for another daring fulfillment. After all the damage Grendel and his mother did to Heorot Hall,
Beowulf was fearless enough to take on the ogres. For such heroism and his known achievements,
Beowulf gains high honor and even more glory. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Wireless Technologies
Wireless Technologies
Introduction
As wireless technology has begun to mature, the demand for wireless products has increased as new
applications for the technology are realized. One application for wireless technology at the U.S. Naval
Academy is to use the wireless capability to enhance classroom instruction. Currently the Electrical
Engineering and Physics Departments have wireless access points and wireless laptops/desktops
available for classroom instruction. The purpose of this report is to provide the technical research
necessary to aid decision makers in determining which wireless technologies the Naval Academy
should invest.
Background
In a wireless network, computers communicate with the network through a radio ... Show more

Each access point can practically service between 32 to 64 users, depending upon manufacturer. The
bandwidth will be shared by all users. The number of radio channels associated with each technology
will vary by technology and product manufacturer. Multiple channels allows for multiple access points
to be collocated in order to provide access for a larger number of users.
Current USNA Uses
The Electrical Engineering Department currently uses the Dell suite with a wireless access point and
24 wireless laptops. They use the wireless network for in class projects where the use of either
simulation (OPNET) or design software (PSPICE) is being taught and used.
The Physics department is using a LinkSys 802.11b wireless access point and LinkSys wireless NIC
cards with desktop computers. Their primary use is for internet access.
Recommendation
The best technology system for the Naval Academy would be the 802.11a standard. It has 54 Mbps
throughput capability as well as adequate range, sufficient for classroom use. Since the 54 Mbps is
shared amongst all users, it would allow, at a minimum, 2 Mbps for each user in a class of 20
midshipmen operating simultaneously. It also has higher data rates at comparable distances

Equity compensation is fundamentally non monetary pay that represents ownership in a company.
This type of compensation method can include various options, stock, and performance shares. The
equity based reward system enables employees to benefit in the organization s profits. This reward
program supports the placement of employee financial interest, in comparison to the business, enticing
employees to well invested in the company s future. Basically, the value the company holds, and its
stocks will rise due to employee performance, which allows employees in return reap the benefits in
the future. Equity based rewards is effective in various ways. Employers who do hold stock, will gain
a greater connection with the company versus just being a shared owner. With time, this may give
employees authority to acquire control, once working for a company for a long period of time. When
this option is applied, employees eventually gain the right to regulate this type of compensation. A,
even greater reward for the company, is that it reinforces their decision to stay with the company long

there is not much talent to choose from, it can also provide concrete commitment. Differed from
equity based reward system, some employers may use a more creative approach when designing a
benefit package. Some employees may not yet, realize the benefit of earning a

Symptoms And Treatment Of Inflammatory Bowel Diseases
In the current world population there is a large increase in people diagnosed with inflammatory bowel
diseases (IBDs), lactose intolerance and/or a combination of the two. Theories suggest that the delayed
onset of lactose intolerance, in patients who already have IBD s, may arise as secondary lactose
intolerance but only as a byproduct of the IBD. This begs the question of if the prevalence of an IBD
predisposes that same person to lactose intolerance and if so, what are the drivers that allow this to
happen? Inflammatory bowel diseases are categorized into two subset categories, ulcerative colitis
(UC) and Crohn s disease. IBD s are defined as a chronic inflammation of all or part of a digestive

Those who are lactose intolerant also have diminishes levels of lactase, the small intestinal enzyme
responsible for the catalysis of lactose. Dietary supplementation of the lactase enzyme has, in some
cases, proven to rectify the symptoms of lactose intolerance.
During infancy the vast majority of humans have the ability to digest and catabolize lactose into
glucose and galactose via the lactase enzyme. This catabolic capability is vital for newborn mammals,
given that their primary source of nutrition comes from their mother s milk. During the weaning
period, when children cease to use milk as a primary source of nutrition, the production of the lactase
enzyme severely deteriorates and eventually leads to the inability to catabolize lactose. While this may
be the natural progression of the expression of the lactase enzyme, there remains a large,
predominantly western population that maintains a steady production of lactase, those individuals are
known as lactase persistent (Baumgart, et al.).
Lactase Persistence Causes: Lactase persistence has been strongly suggested to be a function of
genetic causes and its inheritance occurs in an autosomal recessive manner. Individuals that exhibit the
highest lactase activity are genotypically homozygous recessive for lactase persistence; where as
individuals who show lower lactase activities are heterozygous or homozygous

Commentary On Founding Brothers By Joseph Ellis
The book Founding Brothers by Joseph Ellis is a nonfictional historical novel focusing on the lives,

also the description of how America came to be American (revolution of America). Founding
members of the revolutionary generation secured their legacies through battle and later through
legislation, but many were unaware of what happened behind the scenes of the hardships and
dedication it took to do the things that needed to be done. The book reminds me that Americans today
take our freedom for granted, but our founding fathers had to fight to separate us from the British and
their tyrant s ways. Revolutionaries like Thomas Jefferson and Thomas Paine suggested that colonial
independence from England was not only plausible but was meant to be. No other colony at that time

Communication Gap Between Generation Y And The Baby Boomer...
This paper reviews an article written by Elza Venter from the Department of Psychology of Education
at the University of South Africa. The article is titled Bridging the communication gap between
Generation Y and the Baby Boomer generation.
The article examines the generational communication gap between generation Y and the Baby Boomer
generation with the intention to suggest ways to bridge the gap. Venter (2016) argues that meaningful
communication between the two generations is important because they have connected channels of
communication and the two can give meaning to each other s lives. For instance, Baby Boomer are the
parents, employers, lecturers and teachers of Generation Y (Venter, 2016: 2). However, the two
generations do not always maintain good channels of communication. According to Venter (2016) the
baby boomer generation and Generation Y often times find themselves engaged in conflict as a result
generational differences.
In order to understand the communication gap between the two generations, Venter (2016) studied
interpersonal communication style of the each generation. The author found that Generation Y and the
Baby Boomer generation value different communication styles and that creates a communication gap
between the two generations.
According to Venter (2016) the main differences in the two generations communications styles can be
summarised as follows:
Members of Generation Y are called digital natives because this generation grew up using

The frontal lobes are described as the brain s orchestra leader (Martin, 1998, p. 190), which would
place them at the reins of controlling effective behaviour. Damage to the frontal lobes encompasses a
wide range of symptoms including deficits in executive functioning, changes in personality, emotional
expression and social interaction. This includes apathy and lack of spontaneity, inability to plan and
modify the sequencing of behaviour and inappropriate behaviour.
2 The Structure and Functional Anatomy of the Frontal Lobes
===========================================================
In order to understand the complex nature of the frontal lobes, a synopsis of the anatomy of the
relevant parts of the brain is pertinent.
Each hemisphere of the brain is divided into four geographical areas: the frontal lobe, parietal lobe,
temporal lobe and occipital lobe. This division is not based on functionality, but is an aesthetic one.
The frontal lobe is the largest of these geographic areas with the Rolandic fissure (Central sulcus) and
the Silvian fissure (Lateral sulcus) and the Corpus Callosum creating the boundaries.
The frontal lobe is comprised of three functionally specific areas on the surface area of the cerebral
cortex: the precentral cortex or primary motor cortex (Brodmann s area 4), the premotor cortex

Social And Economic Effects Of The Industrial Revolution
The Industrial revolution was a period between the eighteenth and ninteenth centuries, and the Old
agrarian economy became more industrialized and urban. Before this period of time, manufacturing
was often performed in homes and was handmade. These techniques developed over time turning into
factories, textile industry, and new technologies. The new industrialization effected the people in terms
of mass production and new technologies.
Mass production is a system of manufacturing in which machines rapidly product large amounts of a
product. This began in the textile industry and decreased the need for skilled workers, and unskilled
workers became increasingly important. When these machines were developed, wages declined and
costs of making goods declined as well, resulting in economic growth. There were many unskilled
workers who can operate these machines and so they were competing with each other and offering to

when King Charles I dissolved Parliament in 1625 because they would not give him the money he
demanded to fund his war against Spain. Parliament, who was lead by John Pym, felt that the King
was showing favouritism towards the Roman Catholics, especially since Charles had recently married

While there were minor reforms to the system, the people, the Church and the Monarchy of England
went back to living their lives relatively the same as they had before the start of the English Civil War.
Violence during the English Civil war effected hundreds of thousands of English civilians. However,
while violence killed thousands of people...the impact of the war as a war was surprisingly limited.
Casualties during the war were high: 190 000 people died in England and 868 000, or 11.6% of the
population, perished within the British Isles. This number was only a third of the amount of people
who died in England during the great plague of 1570 1670. King Charles II was content with putting
things aside and starting over again, and it seemed like the people of England were too. Although
women and children lost husbands and fathers, their loses were quickly replaced by new husbands or
relatives to help out. By the end of the war, most people simply wanted to get on with their lives since
there was nothing that they could about the people they lost during the war. Many people forgot their
differences and were found even marrying across the barriers which were created during the war.

Some mental health professionals believe that TMS may offer a treatment options with fewer potential
side effects, allow patients to remain in remission longer, and be more cost effective.
Electroconvulsive Therapy Electroconvulsive therapy (ECT) is procedure that involves deliberately
inducing a generalized seizure by passing small electrical currents directly through the brain. The
patient is placed under general anesthesia and given a muscle relaxant. Two electrodes are placed on
either side of the scalp and then the brain is stimulated with a series of brief electrical pulses in order
to induce the seizure, which last approximately one minute. The patient awakens five to ten minutes
after the ECT treatment (https://www.psychiatry.org/patients families/ect).
History of Electroconvulsive Therapy Scientists and professionals in the medical community have
long recognized that head trauma, convulsions, and high fevers could be good for improving mental
disturbances. In fact, Hippocrates noted that malaria induced convulsions were able to cure insane

Parental Figures In The Power Of One By Bryce Courtenay
Parental figures tend to shape children into the individuals they become later in life. In The Power of
One by Bryce Courtenay, Peekay lacks the traditional parental figure that most people have, and
instead crosses paths with many significant people over the course of the book. This puts Peekay at an
advantage because he is able to see the world through different perspectives, the perspectives of those
who mentored him. He learns from people of all walks of life, which leads to him being unbiased and
open minded. Peekay also is at an advantage because he has to learn to think for himself. His mentors
help him with this, but the lack of a true parent forces him to learn this skill early on and master it by
time is was older. Finally, each of Peekay s mentors have something different to offer, a different key
piece of advice, that give him a set of morals to live by. In the Power of One, the lack of the traditional
parental figure helps further Peekay s maturity and helps him to attain his own power of one. Peekay
is mentored by a variety of people throughout the book, all who come from different backgrounds and
who have different life experiences. Over the course of the book, Peekay is mentored by a mixed
prisoner, a professional boxer, and an old German professor. None of these people have anything in
common except for their love and concern for Peekay, and Peekay respects all of them because that is
what Geel Piet teaches him when he first begins to coach him. If they

Cause and Effects of Teen Drug Abuse
Teen Drug Abuse in America In today s society drugs are taking away our children s lives and it is
making headlines every day. In Vancouver, Washington, a 13 year old boy was found dead after
allegedly swallowing twenty four cold medicine pills to get high (Taylor 45). Nine Florida middle
school students were taken to the hospital after their strange behavior and illness at school led school
officials to discover that they had overdosed on an over the counter cold medication (Taylor 45). A
children s hospital in Wisconsin treated two teenage girls for liver failure after they consumed close to
20 tablets containing a common cold remedy. (Taylor 45). There are many more cases like this
happening every day. Why is drug abuse ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
06) Teens basically see or hear the medicine on TV or radio, and thinks it is okay to use it. We ve
become a society that basically says, If things aren t perfect in your life, take a pill, Fay says. This
causes our young people to see drugs as an answer (USA TODAY Section: Life, Pg. 06). But, if there
no conflict with them, they will use drugs to help them relax and have more fun. But teens drink and
smoke for other reasons as well. In the survey, 41% of boys responded that parties are more fun with
drugs an increase from 34% in 2008. More than half reported that drugs help teens relax in social
settings (USA TODAY Section: Life, Pg. 06). Lastly, the best way to win the battle of Teen Drug
Alcohol Abuse is to stop and prevent it even from happening. Whether the drug in question is alcohol,
Ecstasy, or cough syrup, drug abuse continues to be a serious among adolescents. As with any other

The Consequences Of The Goose Girl, A Fairy Tale
Goose Girl is a fairy tale collected by the Grimm brothers who s story line is about a young Princess
arranged for a marriage with a far away prince, and is deceived from her title on her way to her
bridegroom. Deceived and over powered by her waiting woman, the Princess shows development, but
our dreamer for this analysis is the waiting woman. Fairy tales are all about embracing birth rights,
and this is exactly what the waiting woman is deviant about: she broke from the system and tries to
work her way up a class that she is not born into. The waiting woman struggles with her individuation,
the process of accepting the daily events. Through this analysis, the consequences of not accepting the
life you are born to live will serve as an example of a deeper evil. First, to begin this analysis, the
archetypes are to be assigned. We will start with the shadow, represented by the Princess. Accordingly,
this is a same sex character that at first embodies the elements a waiting woman should have: quiet,
submissive, and compliant because she had to give away and let it be as [the waiting woman] said
(583). The Princess carries the qualities that are considered to be expected of a waiting woman. The
opposite sex character that represents the animus in the waiting woman s story is the horse, Falada.
The horse noticed and remembered the acts the waiting woman commits, so she later on tries to get rid
of the horse, who later develops the story in an indirect way (583). The waiting woman s self is
represented by the casket dragged by horses idea she pitched in for the King. Her refusal to become
who she was intended to be led her to declaring her own fate. Moreover, to explain these labels, the
important events relevant to the development of the waiting woman should be recognized and
explained. The waiting woman is first set on her journey to fulfill her duties beside the Princess after
mounting their respective horses. On both occasions that the Princes has been thirsty, the waiting
woman declares I will not be your slave. If you want a drink, you may get it yourself; I am not going
to be your slave (582). To this, the Princess does not respond; the second time around, as she bends to
drink her water, she looses

Essay On Practitioner Attributes
There are three key attributes that a practitioner/nurse must have in the health industry to promote a
safe, and comfortable work environment for both, medical professionals and patients. These attributes
are emotional stability, communication, and empathy, and are all used to enhance the quality of care
for their patients. This essay will discuss and explain why these attributes are important.
A key attribute that a practitioner should have to form interpersonal relationships with their client is
emotional stability. A nurse can use emotional stability to keep a calm mental state during chaos.
Emotional stability is necessary in the health industry because health professionals are generally more
proactive and successful in terms of problem solving. Nurses show emotional stability by not getting
overwhelmed frustrated, or upset during traumatic events. Professionals with higher emotional
stability are less likely to react to stressful scenarios (Hsu, Chang Teng, 2009). Medical professionals
with emotional stability are important in the workplace because they are a strong, stable person that
patients and their family can lean on when they feel as if everything is falling apart. Nurses are
exposed to pain and suffering throughout their careers, and it s important to have an emotional ...

Rachita Narsaria suggests that when the right amount of empathy is shown, the patient will abandon
their fears (Narsaria, 2015). This is extremely important, especially when going into surgery. It is
completely normal to feel scared or anxious before a surgery, but it s important that feel as
comfortable as you can when going into the operating theatre. An example of empathy that medical
professionals use in practice is when a patient comes in and tells an anaesthesiologist that they re
afraid of needles, which they can sympathise with and accommodate their needs by giving them a
numbing injection, or simply placing the intravenous drip in when the patient is under

The Importance Of Ethnic Minorities
Society consists of complex processes which affect different groups in different ways and some
groups, for various reasons, can experience high rates of disadvantage and oppression. Multiple
aspects of a person s identity can create significant bias, resulting in disproportionate treatment. Young
black males for example, especially those from lower socio economic backgrounds, suffer
discrimination considerably more on the basis of their different attributes; being young, male and
belonging to an ethnic minority group whilst a status of being from poorer backgrounds further
disadvantages their opportunities and their position in society (Solanke, 2009). Intersectional
frameworks play a key role by enabling a deeper insight into social institutions and practices
concerning ethnic minorities and social problems which arise through inequality. The way institutions,
such as the criminal justice system and the police, deal with ethnic minority groups contributes to
ongoing stigma and discrimination, especially that of young males as their actions influence external
perceptions of the general public towards ethnic minorities, thus allowing for continued racial abuse
and discrimination. This essay will focus on the disparities of young black and minority ethnic (BME)
males in the criminal justice system and identify intersectional influences overrepresentation within
the system in order to recognise the inequalities these people face and promote social justice.

United Nations Security Council Pros And Cons
Chapter 1 : INTRODUCTION
The United Nations Security Council (UNSC) is one of the principal organs of the United Nations.
According to article 24 of the UN Charter, the foundational treaty of the United Nations, the UN
Member States have conferred the primary responsibility of maintenance of international peace and
security to the Security Council and have agreed that this body, in order to carry on this duty, acts on
their behalf. The Member States have agreed to accept and carry out the decisions of the Security
Council through article 25 of the Charter.4 While other organs of the United Nations can only make
recommendations to governments, the UNSC is the only organ capable of issuing resolutions that are
legally binding on all Member States. Its main responsibility is maintaining international peace and

  • 2. Beethoven s Major Accomplishments Ludwig van Beethoven was a famous composer between the Classical and Romantic eras. He was born in December of 1770, in Bonn, Germany. Ludwig had a terrible childhood, because of his dad who was an alcoholic most of his life, who was also a musician himself, and with that his father would make him play the piano and practice every day and would smack him if he made a mistake. This is how he developed such a talent for music, because of his father. Although he was deaf, he made most of his famous and important works during that time. He still remains to be the most famous and influential composers of all time. At the age of seventeen, his teacher and mentor sent him to Vienna, to study more in depth of the art of music. There in Vienna, he was able to meet great musicians and composers, such as Mozart. Ludwig would continue to grow in his knowledge of music and writing great symphonies. From his time in Vienna, he began to excel and people began to notice him. This all started his impact on music. From Beethoven s famous works, moonlight sonata to the 3rd symphony, Beethoven is considered as the most well known composer between the transitions of classical music to the romantic era. (Biography Par. 3) In 1798 when he was 26 years old, he noticed that ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... As the book states, Beethoven was considered to be the bridge between the Classical and Romantic eras. Many of his methods were used by composers long after him. Beethoven paved the way many composers wrote their music by the tension and intensity in his music. From the range of pitch and color tone, it would add such character to the music to make it come alive (McGraw 191). During the early years of Beethoven s pieces, Mozart was the main influence, however, other pieces clearly show his individuality and particular ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Donald Trump Pathological Filter What s the most common reason people voice for supporting Donald Trump? Most would respond with, He tells it like it is. But does he? What I would like to do in this chapter is unpack the meaning of that statement. It is true, no doubt, that Donald s mouth filter is broken. Fact is, it was either never installed or, it was removed a long time ago. The political Left has been pushing more and more stringent mouth filters on the American public for some time now. Many in America are getting sick and tired of it. The whole society has come to the place where we are all just walking (talking) on eggshells. Careful, you might offend someone. That s not P.C. , the world says. The result of all this nonsense has not served to produce more respectful ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... One of my favorite authors, who became a Christian during his own journey of the soul, was M. Scott Peck. The title of one of his books is, People of the Lie . Not only does Trump belong to the people of The Lie, he embodies it. When people say they like Donald Trump because, He s genuine , they are correct. He is genuinely false. He is genuinely disingenuous. There is a segment of sick individuals genuinely pathological. Can something false, be genuine? Absolutely. People who live and practice deception, are not just deceptive, they become genuine deceivers. They start believing their own lies. Do not mistake authenticity for truthfulness. Again, it begs the question. Authentically what? Donald Trump is absolutely authentic. There is a purity about him. He is purely false, and will soon become purely evil. Trump years ago said, I believe [the media] like making me out to be something more sinister than I really am. ( 60 Minutes , 1985). Notice he is admitting that he is sinister. The definition of sinister is, giving the impression that something harmful or evil is happening or will ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Informative Essay On Charcoal Grill Obviously, cooking with a charcoal grill is not as simple as what you see in the movies you sure don t just turn it on! But, people still opt for grilling different food items with a charcoal grill. People who favor charcoal don t mind that it s a little harder to handle and takes longer to cook than other grilling methods. Outdoor enthusiasts continue to think the distinctive smoky aroma and flavor you get with using charcoal makes the added effort worthwhile. An excellent choice for backpackers would be a very light weight stainless steel charcoal grill. They would appreciate how easy it could be carried and stored. However, since the unit would be smaller, its capacity would be restricted. Cooking for a group of people would require you to make multiple batches of hot dogs and burgers to appease everyone s appetite. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... • 5. Roman Catholic Church Research Paper The Roman Catholic Church is ruled by the Pope in Vatican City, Rome. He rules over all Catholic Churches in the world and many Catholics make it their life long dream to visit Vatican City one day and to attend Mass with the Pope. The origin of this Christian denomination leads all the way back to apostolic times. The rituals that the Roman Catholic Church has are very similar to Christian rituals which include baptism and confirmation. Most Catholics who attend the Roman Catholic Church follow and obey the Bible and the way in which their church interprets it. For the Catholics this statement is good for them as they are free to do good or evil. But for Protestants, this is not the case. They are only free to do good things. Predestination is being determined in advance where God chooses what will happen to you in life and what happens to you in the after life. Catholics believe that your predestination is based on God s foreknowledge of you and your actions while Protestants believe that your predestination is related to God s decrees. The interpretation of the Bible is different as the Catholic interpretation includes apocrypha which are books of the Bible that are added in to the Old Testament. While Protestants omit these 14 books of the Bible. These are just a few differences between the Protestants and the beliefs of the Roman Catholic Church. Marriage is accepted in both religions and shows the unity of two people and shows their beliefs and sacrifices for God. Last time we covered the heavy stuff, including the early history of oriental rugs and some common terms to familiarize yourself with. This week we re talking about what s on the rugs: their designs! I tend to be kind of an art geek. What can I say? I m drawn to interesting images, and art has some of the most intriguing images to offer. Art galleries, museums, art blogs; all of it! What I love most about art is the meaning behind the shapes and colors chosen. Granted, not all art has a deeper meaning beyond whatever the artist splattered onto a blank canvas. The Mayans showed increasement in their population expeditiously which resulted in higher demand for food for the people to consume. Consequently, in order for the Mayans to manage the increasing population, the Mayans turned to use their accessible land over to cultivation. (Drew 139) With this in mind, the author, David Drew, asked an intrigued question of how much food the land could produced for the Mayans? The appointment of Peter ( Death to Disabled Newborns! ) Singer to the bioethics faculty at Princeton University has generated considerable controversy. Unfortunately, it appears that many people are accepting Levitt and Donohue s hypothesis as Revealed Truth (no matter that the paper is unpublished and not peer reviewed). A few random observations about their methodology and assumptions may illuminate the paths which led them to error. Without slaves our world would have been a lot different now than it was. Slaves worked as factory workers, farm workers, and more. They impacted their lives by a lot, and is a big part of our history. What Slaves Did Slaves were servants, factory workers, shopkeepers, mine workers, and many other things that they would want them to do. They had slaves do their work because they didn t want to do it themselves. They had to work for their owners, and they didn t have a choice unless they wanted to get wiped and other stuff. Or they were also starved to death. Some slaves were captured by kidnappers or as prisoners of war and sold them as slaves, so they didn t have to do the work, It was hard to find out who kidnapped them because they were really sneaky at it, and a lot of people did it. Even the holy scriptures belonging to various religions teach the same. But history is a witness for every act and deed which contradicted this moral which we have been learning, where majority of a kind cornered the minorities and exploited them; first on the basis of gender, then color, followed by religion and then by nationality and then by language and so forth. And when such people are in power, policy becomes instinct rather than thought. During the British raj of the 1860s, the colonizers introduced a law, now popularly known as IPC section 377. This criminalized every sensual activity that was against the order of nature or in simple words, did not lead to reproduction. This same law still prevails in the constitution, making the lives of the rainbow people miserable, making them vulnerable to threats, hate crimes, physical abuse, extortion and a lot more. The transgender community or the hijras are the people who are affected by this the most. • 12. Essay on Japanese Internment in Canada The core of the Japanese experience in Canada lies in the shameful and almost undemocratic suspension of human rights that the Canadian government committed during World War II. As a result, thousands of Japanese were uprooted to be imprisoned in internment camps miles away from their homes. While only a small percentage of the Japanese living in Canada were actually nationals of Japan, those who were Canadian born were, without any concrete evidence, continuously being associated with a country that was nothing but foreign to them. Branded as enemy aliens , the Japanese Canadians soon came to the realization that their beloved nation harboured so much hate and anti Asian sentiments that Canada was becoming just as foreign to them as ... It gave permission to intern all undesirable Japanese, tie up every Japanese owned fishing boat in British Columbia, close all Japanese language schools, forbid the publishing of newspapers in Japanese, and seize all Japanese property. All of which were subsequently carried out. In 1941, there were twenty three thousand five hundred Japanese persons in Canada, residing mainly on the coast of British Columbia. Of that, six thousand seven hundred were Canadian born, seven thousand were naturalized citizens, and the rest were nationals of Japan. However, nothing could make any difference. To the typical, white British Columbian, the Japanese were all lower class citizens. Five hours after the attack on Pearl Harbour, forty eight Japanese planes bombed Hong Kong where two Canadian battalions were stationed, and were inflicted with heavy casualties. The problem of the resident Japanese in British Columbia was then quickly set into the mainstream focus. Symbolism In The Book Thief In The Book Thief, Mark Zusak uses symbolism throughout the story to create a profound meaning behind characters actions , bringing more emotion and significance to the plot. Character Hans Hubermann s accordion symbolizes many different aspects including comfort and hope, eventually affecting most characters throughout the plot of the story. The colors Blue and Red are used by death throughout the novel to symbolize scenes of good and evil. To Liesel Meminger, the accordion is a symbol of prosperity, hope, and a distraction. Through times of distress, Hans accordion was there to soothe and relax her. When liesel arrived at Himmel street she was overwhelmingly nervous and scared but one thing that gave her hope was the beautiful sound of Hans accordion. On september 19, 1942 Liesel experienced a very real and horrific air raid forcing members of the community to seek shelter in the Fielders basement. • 15. The Wines Of Spain ( California ) The Wines of Spain During my young and foolish years, I was a confirmed wine snob; at least as it applied to the red wines I drank. If they didn?t come from Bordeaux, France, I didn?t consider them worthy. Typically, my purchases would feature wines from M?doc, Margaux, Pauillac, Saint Emilion, Pomerol and Graves. This all changed in my late forties, I was gifted with several bottles of red wine from various countries including Australia, Chile and the United States (California). Begrudgingly, I accepted the fact that good red wine needn?t come from France. This oenophilia did not preclude my consumption of ?inferior? wines; it merely dispatched them to a list of wines I would never consider buying for myself. I assumed that if I couldn?t ... I had learned of the pleasures of the red wines from Piedmont, Italy. The incredible richness of Australian Shiraz proved it as an acceptable alternative to its Rhone Valley cousin. However, it took another experience with Rioja in my early fifties to start my exploration of Spanish wines. Overview To do justice to the subject of Spanish wines requires more than a single post, coverage befitting the third largest producer of wine, behind France and Italy, simply cannot be done within the limits of a single short article and summarization does a disservice to the exceptional wine making reputation of Spain?s dedicated vintners. Any worthwhile discussion of Spain?s wine making needs to include, at a minimum, an overview of the wine making regulations, under which vintners operate, the labeling requirements and what that means that means to consumers. After ?lo these concepts are covered, a discussion of the wine growing areas, the grape varietals and the resulting wines produces a sharper picture of Spain?s wines. • 16. Whale Rider Essay In the Whale Rider, Nani Flowers is a stronger role model than Koro. She always advocated for Kahu, and continuously stood up against Koro s traditional beliefs about women. Secondly, Nani Flower was forgiving and altruistic towards everyone, even with Koro, in spite of his rigid attitude with Kahu. In contrast, Koro was blinded by tradition, thus making Kahu feel as if she was not good enough for Koro simply due to the fact that she was a girl, a factor she could not control. Therefore, Nani Flowers is evidently the better role model. Nani Flowers has always supported Kahu. When Kahu was first born, Koro Apirana was against Kahu just being named after his ancestor, so burying her birth cord anywhere near the long house would be very unacceptable in his eyes (page 25). Even with this in mind, Nani still buried Kahu s birthcord In the sight of Kahutia Te Rangi (page 29). Another example of this supportive behavior is when Kahu came home crying because of Koro, and the whales dying in the movie (pages 46 48). Not only did Nani argue with her husband, Koro, she kicked him out because he would not reconcile his traditional beliefs about Maori leadership and rights with Kahu s birth (page 48). • 17. Types Of Cell Surface Receptors And The Mitogen Activated... Introduction Cell surface receptors are integral membrane proteins that play a major role in signal transduction, allowing the function of Neurons, muscles and sensory organs to occur. Their basic function is to carry out the process of signal transduction by binding to an extracellular signalling molecule. Cell surface receptors regulate gene transcription, ion flux in the neurons and growth factors. This regulation allows the human body to function with little error. They detect the smallest of changes and respond with a cascade of signalling events appropriately. I am going to describe the four main types of cell surface receptors and the Mitogen activated protein cascade in receptor tyrosine kinases. G Protein Coupled Receptors ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... GPCRs consist of alpha helical segments separated by these intracellular and extracellular loops (Figure 1) Figure 1 Structure of G protein coupled receptor, showing alpha helical proteins attached to the three subunits of the G protein. GPCRs are associated with a G protein, which is heterotrimeric i.e. they consist of three different subunits: an alpha subunit, a beta subunit, and a gamma subunit (Figure 1). (Scitable by nature) G proteins are specialized proteins with the ability to catalyse the exchange of guanosine triphosphate (GTP) and guanosine diphosphate (GDP). (Scitable by nature) The G protein receptor is coupled to a trimeric G protein and controls the effector protein. The receptors activate cytosolic or nuclear transcription via several pathways. They are involved in signal transduction pathways such as MAP kinase pathway. (Lodish et al.). When a signalling molecule such as Epinephrine, serotine and adenosine is released and binds to the extracellular receptor site of the GPCR, the G protein changes conformation and GTP replaces the GDP on the alpha subunit of the G protein (Figure 2). This activated alpha subunit then parts from the beta and gamma subunits. The alpha subunit becomes inactive when the ligand leaves the receptor site and the receptors own phosphorylase activity removes a phosphate from the GTP molecule, therefore leaving GDP bound to the alpha subunit and the reformation of the 3 subunits. Impact Of Labor Force In The 21st Century There is a great change going on in employment trend and labor force in the U.S. in 21st century because of aging, diversity immigrants and few other factors and it s a dramatic change, from 1950 to 2050. This massive demographic change has an impact on the number of people working or people looking for work. In the beginning of 21st century the demand for labor force has increased which is one of the main source for growth and economic progress. Growth rate in population and labor force has changed the trend in employment today compare to 1950. Today more older people are working, its more diversified and more women are involved at workplace. There are going to be significant changes in coming years compare to past 50 years. For example, labor growth rate will be less than what we had in past 50 years. As per the Mitra Toossi s article A century of change: the U.S. labor force, 1950 2015 , The high growth rate of civilian labor force in the past 50 years will be replaced by much lower growth rates in the next 50 years . The main reason to this slowdown in growth of the labor force is high tech innovation which is reducing the demand of traditional labor force. Another demographic change in the employment trend is the change in gender structure. Dietary supplementation of the lactase enzyme has, in some cases, proven to rectify the symptoms of lactose intolerance. This catabolic capability is vital for newborn mammals, given that their primary source of nutrition comes from their mother s milk. During the weaning period, when children cease to use milk as a primary source of nutrition, the production of the lactase enzyme severely deteriorates and eventually leads to the inability to catabolize lactose. • 38. Essay on The English Civil War The English Civil War The English Civil War was a complicated, intellectual war between the two most powerful forces in England: Parliament and the King. Conflicts between the two powers began when King Charles I dissolved Parliament in 1625 because they would not give him the money he demanded to fund his war against Spain. Parliament, who was lead by John Pym, felt that the King was showing favouritism towards the Roman Catholics, especially since Charles had recently married the Roman Catholic French Princess. Although Charles recalled Parliament in 1626, he proceeded to dissolve the second Parliament mainly because it attempted to impeach him. However, while violence killed thousands of people...the impact of the war as a war was surprisingly limited. Casualties during the war were high: 190 000 people died in England and 868 000, or 11.6% of the population, perished within the British Isles. This number was only a third of the amount of people who died in England during the great plague of 1570 1670. King Charles II was content with putting things aside and starting over again, and it seemed like the people of England were too. Although women and children lost husbands and fathers, their loses were quickly replaced by new husbands or relatives to help out. By the end of the war, most people simply wanted to get on with their lives since there was nothing that they could about the people they lost during the war. Many people forgot their differences and were found even marrying across the barriers which were created during the war. Damaged property was quickly repaired since it created jobs for civilians looking for work. Buildings were destroyed, but since the war was not as explosive ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 45. The Consequences Of The Goose Girl, A Fairy Tale Goose Girl is a fairy tale collected by the Grimm brothers who s story line is about a young Princess arranged for a marriage with a far away prince, and is deceived from her title on her way to her bridegroom. Deceived and over powered by her waiting woman, the Princess shows development, but our dreamer for this analysis is the waiting woman. Fairy tales are all about embracing birth rights, and this is exactly what the waiting woman is deviant about: she broke from the system and tries to work her way up a class that she is not born into. The waiting woman struggles with her individuation, the process of accepting the daily events. Through this analysis, the consequences of not accepting the life you are born to live will serve as an example of a deeper evil. First, to begin this analysis, the archetypes are to be assigned. We will start with the shadow, represented by the Princess. Accordingly, this is a same sex character that at first embodies the elements a waiting woman should have: quiet, submissive, and compliant because she had to give away and let it be as [the waiting woman] said (583). The Princess carries the qualities that are considered to be expected of a waiting woman. The opposite sex character that represents the animus in the waiting woman s story is the horse, Falada. The horse noticed and remembered the acts the waiting woman commits, so she later on tries to get rid of the horse, who later develops the story in an indirect way (583). The waiting woman s self is represented by the casket dragged by horses idea she pitched in for the King. Her refusal to become who she was intended to be led her to declaring her own fate. Moreover, to explain these labels, the important events relevant to the development of the waiting woman should be recognized and explained. The waiting woman is first set on her journey to fulfill her duties beside the Princess after mounting their respective horses. On both occasions that the Princes has been thirsty, the waiting woman declares I will not be your slave. If you want a drink, you may get it yourself; I am not going to be your slave (582). The Importance Of Ethnic Minorities Society consists of complex processes which affect different groups in different ways and some groups, for various reasons, can experience high rates of disadvantage and oppression. Multiple aspects of a person s identity can create significant bias, resulting in disproportionate treatment. Young black males for example, especially those from lower socio economic backgrounds, suffer discrimination considerably more on the basis of their different attributes; being young, male and belonging to an ethnic minority group whilst a status of being from poorer backgrounds further disadvantages their opportunities and their position in society (Solanke, 2009). Intersectional frameworks play a key role by enabling a deeper insight into social institutions and practices concerning ethnic minorities and social problems which arise through inequality. The way institutions, such as the criminal justice system and the police, deal with ethnic minority groups contributes to ongoing stigma and discrimination, especially that of young males as their actions influence external perceptions of the general public towards ethnic minorities, thus allowing for continued racial abuse and discrimination.
