The Belief Of God s Middle Knowledge
No doubt there is horrific evil that exists within the world. Acts of violence, greed, and corruption
describe moral evil that humanity commits while innocents suffer as well as the existence of natural
evil such as catastrophic disasters and disease that plague mankind as well. All the while, a divine
sovereign God who brought forth life governs over his flock of children that suffer as a result of these
evils. The traditional theists believe God is all knowing or omniscient, all powerful or omnipotent, and
altruistic, although evil and human suffering still exists. This problem of evil directly correlates to
God s attribute of knowledge, where God knows humanity s available choices given a set of
circumstances or counter set of circumstances or what is known as Molinism or middle knowledge
(Peterson, et al., Reason and Religious Belief, p. 164). God s middle knowledge does seem to have
limits, considering humanity can freely make their own decisions given a set of circumstances of
which God influences, but does not command. Because humanity s free will decisions are unknown to
God, as he creates the path but does not control his or her decisions, there is an escape from the
problem of evil as traditional theists perceive God as all knowing and yet permitting great suffering.
As a captain of a ship steers a vessel s course towards its destination, so too does God set in motion a
path of which humanity is to follow to achieve God s divine will and purpose. God

Descriptive Essay About Vacations
Our vacation started with what seemed like a week of packing when in reality it was only a day or
two. We had been thinking of and planning our trip to Yellowstone for quite a while. We were all
excited for the trip to come. It started with a long drive through Nebraska stopping at night to set up
camp and get some sleep. We were all exhausted and slept like rocks. The next morning we made
breakfast and got to driving again. As always, we stopped at various parks and rest stops to get out and
look around. That afternoon we were in dire need of showers and couldn t seem to find a campsite that
offered showers. We searched through what seemed like a thousand campgrounds. My mom and I had
pretty much given up looking at this point and were ready to resort to bucket baths. When we pulled
into the campsite it turned out to be a rather pleasant campground. There was plenty of privacy, flat
ground, trees, and of course a shower. My mom and I also were pleasantly surprised to find that the
showers were also free. While there was still daylight. We got a fire going set up our tents and looked
around a bit. When we were finally ready we all went and bathed in the glorious creation of soap and
hot running water cascading on our heads and bodies. The next day we got up, packed up our stuff,
and started on our way to our next destination. Rocky Mountain National Park. On our way there we
stopped in a little town for lunch and ate about two loaves of bread in sandwiches. As it started

Vertigo and His Girl Friday
The films Vertigo and His Girl Friday, directed by Alfred Hitchcock and Howard Hawks respectively,
are good representations of classical cinema. A stigma associated with classical cinema is the film s
portrayal of women. Feminist film theorists believe that the male protagonist play a more prominent
role while women are only something to be looked at and acted upon. Both films possess a male and a
female protagonist. His Girl Friday casts Cary Grant as a cunning newspaper editor named Walter
Burns, as well as Rosalind Russell as former reporter and former wife of Walter, Hildy Johnson.
Vertigo stars James Stewart as a former detective named Scottie Ferguson, and Kim Novak as
Madeleine Ester, a woman Scottie is hired to investigate. Both films challenge the feminist s
hypothesis with powerful and intelligent women who have some control over men in the film. Yet in
both films the male protagonist ultimately has control over the female even though the stigma is tested
throughout the entirety of both films. In the film His Girl Friday, Hildy Johnson is an ex reporter
whose goal is to settle down and have a normal life with her fiancé Bruce Baldwin. She returns to tell
Walter that she is finished reporting forever but Walter s goal is to make her a reporter again and
eventually remarry her. Hildy is a beautiful woman and steals every scene she is in, other than perhaps
the scenes involving Walter. In an early scene of the film Hildy enters in on the reporters playing

Morals And Values In Everyday Use By Alice Walker
Historically, values and beliefs are ascribed to people depending on their family s heritage. Most
religious people are religious because they were brought up in a home that believed in a particular
religion. There are some scholars that have been taught by the best schools and teachers due to their
family having a grand educational background. Even though all individuals are different in their own
right, a family normally holds the same beliefs and values as one another. Morals and values are
traditionally passed down through generations, however, there are situations where social influences
can play a role in deciding a person s principals. Family members that are influenced by society rather
than their families can easily become the outliers of the bunch. In Everyday Use , Alice Walker
demonstrates how social differences such as religion, education, and status between family members
can cause a disconnection within the family. Dee s social change in religion causes a disconnection
between the family. Walker makes it evident in the story that Mama is a Christian when she describes
a feeling that she has like when I m in church and the spirit of God touches me... (499). One could
assume that both Dee and Maggie were brought up as Christians along with Mama. On her visit back
home, Dee tells her mother to call her Wangero instead of Dee and uses terms such as Wa su zo Tean o
and Asalamalakum which signifies that she has adopted the Muslim religion. She also brings a friend
along with her who has adopted the Muslim religion as well. The story portrays Mama to seem as
though she has no interest in Dee s new name, and David Cowart explains this by stating She [Mama]
tries to have it both ways, referring to her daughter now by one name, now by the other, now by
parenthetically hybridized combinations of both (171). Mama named Dee after a family member, so
when Dee changed her name to something else, a disconnection between her and the family arose.
Another social difference Walker uses to illustrate a disconnection within the family is education.
Mama only has second grade education due to her school burning down and never getting rebuilt.
Mama explains how Maggie has a hard time reading and knows

Research Paper On Charles Manson Family Cult
Charles Manson, who died on November 19, 2017 aged 83, was the leader of the Manson Family cult,
located in Los Angeles, California in the late 1960 s.
This was a non religious cult but had some beliefs within scientology and satanism. Charles Manson
believed that there was to be a race war in America in the near future and that the African Americans
would win, but then look to the Whites for guidance. This then lead Manson and his one hundred plus
followers, mostly young women, to attempt to instigate this war so that they could be prepared and
hide away until the African Americans won, and then the family would be the ones the African
Americans would turn to for leadership (The 10 Most Famous Cults, 2017).

The Power Struggle Between Robespierre And Danton
When I first read about this course in a summer email, I was blown away by the description and
content of the reacting class. It seemed like more of a fun game that a few good friends might play
rather than an honors history course. Over the past few months, I have seen that this course is a
combination of game and class, which, in turn, makes learning fun. This is the reason that I have
learned much about history and perhaps even more about myself during this course. I could say that I
learned about the influence and tactics of Thomas Cromwell or say I saw firsthand the power struggle
between Robespierre and Danton. I could say I learned about the ideas of Rousseau, Burke, Diderot,
More, Marsilius, Machiavelli, and, of course, Baldassare Castiglione. I could say I learned about the
crowd, the National Assembly, the courts of Henry VIII and the Parliament of England. It would be
easy to simply say that I learned the basic history of the English Reformation and the French
Revolution because that is the simplest learning accomplished during this course. However, aside
from the rudimentary knowledge of the two events, I saw and learned from two specific trends
exhibited in each of our games: the formation and churning of factions and the variability and
unpredictability of chance. Factions quickly appeared in both of our games: the Boleyn s versus the
Aragonese for the English game and the three parties of the Jacobins, the Feulliants, and the
Conservatives in the

The Hero In Odysseus In Homer s The Odyssey
To most people, a hero is a person who is admired for their courage, noble qualities, outstanding
acheivements and sacrificing their life for others. Heroes in Greek mythology were often seen as a
people who were clever, talented, courageuos, noble, had great strenght, had great victories in battle,
connections to the gods and to other supernatural forces. Odysseus shows many signs of heroic traits
throughout his quest in The Odyssey. Odysseus is put into numerous life threatening situations but he
overcomes them. While Odysseus is overcoming the obstacles he is presented with, he demonstrates
that he has the characteristics of a hero. Odysseus shows no signs of being a villian throughout the
entire story as he tries to get back to Ithica, his home, and reunite with his wife, family and friends.
Odysseus shows how clever and talented he is many times throughout The Odyssey. Odysseus is very
cunning, but this does not make him a villian because he uses it to help his crew survive on their quest
back to Ithica. Odysseus does not use his cunning to trick innocent people into doing something for
Odysseus personal gain. Odysseus shows how cunning he is when he tells Polyphemus his name is
noman, so the other Cyclops will not come to Polyphemus aid when they blind him. Another example

Methods And Procedures Of A Golf Etiquette
Methods and Procedures Interviews were administered during November 2014, with ten randomly
selected working men and women throughout the state of Mississippi. Interviewees were asked a
certain set of questions dealing with golf etiquette, business golf as a sales tactic, and whether or not it
is beneficial or just a game. Secondary research was conducted through electronic searches.
Findings
Golf etiquette is not the first thing that comes to mind when making a sale or taking on a new
clientele. Companies have used it for years, however, to forge personal relationships with clients. It is
an impeccable way to learn traits about a potential client in a casual setting, without even talking
about business. From the client s perspective, it ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Most people would turn down a four hour meeting if just asked to sit at the office.
Eurich (2014) also states that one of the biggest problems with business golf is when individuals in
sales pass up the chance to network with potential clients by declining the invitation to play. Some let
their personal golfing ability be the deciding factor of this opportunity, when in reality the level of
play is not the focal point. Hill (2014) furthers this point by mentioning that if the opponent is not as
good of a golfer as most, not to torment or make fun of him. Giving encouragement instead of offering
lessons is the correct move in this situation in order to not make him or her feel inferior to the rest.
Success in business golf is about respect, not the score.
How Golf and Business Correlate
Quinn Thomas (2014) speak from personal experience as they address business golf when they say
that the relation between business tactic and the game of golf is very strong although most people
overlook it. Professional golfer, Cary Middlecoff, as cited by Quinn Thomas (2014) expresses that
many golfers cost themselves strokes by not playing to their strengths. If they do not pick the correct
club for the particular shot, then it may ruin their game. This can be exemplified in the workplace as
well when companies do not correctly utilize the resources available to them. It can prove to be

My Best Moments In My Life Of My Family
Do you have that special person in your life that no matter what situation you are going through they
manage to put a smile on your face? There are some people in life that makes you laugh a little louder,
smile a little bigger, and live a little better. For me, this special person happens to be my best friend
Alexia Reese. Some of my best moments in life involves her. She is so full of laughter and joy. Her
humor style is definitely one of a kind, very weird and crazy. The one time Alexia could not stop
laughing was one of the most embarrassing days of her life. She had just applied and received an
interview at her dream job in the beauty department. She was beyond excited and nervous all at once.
Alexia said The one thing that makes me truly happy other than making people laugh is beating my
face . I remember receiving over twenty phone calls from her right before her interview that morning.
We tried serval techniques trying to get her to calm down a little. Once her name was called her
stomach immediately sunk to her feet. Sitting across from the store manager answering question after
question she felt sweat dripping from her forehead. Then he asked her Why should we hire you for
this job ? Alexia was not prepared for this question. Her mind went completely blank. The room was
super quiet. Next thing you know she let out a huge fart that sounded like a gun being fired. She
finally responded, I shouldn t have eaten McDonald s before I came here huh ? Her face was full

Crime And The Crimes Of Crime Essay
According to the Australian Bureau of Statistics (2006) crime is defined as an offence punishable by
the State on behalf of the general public whose standards do not permit the offending behaviour.
Whilst countless studies have been conducted over the years surrounding crime and the committing of
crimes by individuals , there has also long been debate surrounding whether or not crime is gendered
and if so, to what extent. Over the decades a number of studies have been conducted in order to
answer this question, with significantly varying results uncovered. Whilst some studies, including
those by Darrell Steffensmeier and Emilie Allan (1996) and Jennifer Schwartz and Darrell
Steffensmeier (2008) have found that gender plays a significant role in the committing of crimes, other
studies including that of Kenneth Polk (1993) have found that the prevalence of gender differences in
crimes is reliant on the nature of the crime itself.
According to Frances Heidensohn (1985), gender appears to be the single most crucial variable
associated with criminality (p.22). In agreement with this statement, Steffensmeier and Allan (1996)
highlighted in Gender and Crime: Toward a gendered Theory of Female Offending , that worldwide
criminologists agree that the gender gap within offenders of crime is universal, in that men are always
more likely to commit a criminal act than women. However, Steffensmeier and Allan (1996) s
research also highlighted discrepancies between the opinions of

Muscogee Creek Nation
Since the arrival of Americans, the Muscogee Creek Nation has changed tremendously. We no longer
dress up in head dresses and make sacrifices, but we do try our best to preserve and teach our culture
and heritage. Today the Creek Nation is still an organized community with a leader, meetings, rituals,
and a language.
Creek Indians can be found in many places today, and there is no definite way to tell that one is of the
creek descent except by their blood. To declare yourself as a creek citizen you must first be able to
trace back to a direct ancestor listed on the 1906 Dawes Roll ( Muscogee ). As the creek heritage
passes from generation to generation a degree of blood is also passed down. To be considered a

In my own family, many of the traditions we continue to celebrate and do would not have been passed
on if it was not for the closeness of our family. My mother can make many native foods from growing
up around her grandmother such as traditional Creek Fry bread; things that I know I will one day pass
on to my children. I can still remember my great grandmother teaching my sister and I how to do
traditional basket weaving, a tradition still taught in classes at the Creek Nation today. Basket weaving
is one of the oldest known Native American crafts and shows the diversity of tribes as the different
styles of basket weaving are still present today (Lollman). If families did not pass on our heritage,
many of our native songs and dances performed at powwows would not be around to see or reenact
today. Ultimately all of the traditions we have today would not be here if it was not for the families
passing their knowledge and memories down.
Another way that many creek families have kept their culture alive is by still having traditional Indian
burials and funerals. I recently had the chance to observe this type of funeral for the first time. From
this experience I noticed many traditions that I had not known or even seen before. In the creek
community according to Cheri Lollman, a death is seen as a great accomplishment in life, because
they are now in a better place. Viewing of the body for my great grandmother, like in many other

Venice Against The Sea
Venice is evolving into a crumbling museum says Keahey. In his extensively researched book, Venice
against the Sea, Keahey states Venice has sunk six feet over the past 1000 years. While its historical
importance as a major hub for trade is over, it remains economically lucrative due to its historically
rich Myth of Venice and its significant cultural importance. Venice against the sea describes how the
city is being assaulted by climate change along with environmental degradation compounded by a
corrupt political system and the very tourism that sustains it. In a 2000 CNN interview then Mayor,
Paola Costa states, we risk disappearing due to excess love...all those who are using Venice for their
own interests must make a contribution to preserve the myth
The effects of rising sea water and global warming on the lagoon city are resulting in significant
flooding, the worst of which occurred in 1966, the Acqua Alta or high water. It isn t just climate
change that jeopardizes Venice, it was the lapse in upkeep of the foundation, short sighted expansion
and redesigning of water ways and the pumping of ground water from beneath Venice that is hastening
its sinking. In 1970 this practice was called to a halt. But this danger to Venice is not a new occurrence
in Venice s history, but it is the severity and frequency of the flooding that is accelerating the damage
and sinking. The danger from the high

How Did The Cold War Containment
The U.S. had a foreign policy of containment during the Cold War and wished to stop the spread of
communism by the Soviets because they send economic aid to Western European countries and they
collaborate with democratic nations who are resisting subjugation. The containment policy resulted in
the joining of NATO (i.e. the end of isolationism) and the majorly successful Truman Doctrine,
Marshall Plan, and the Berlin airlift. Those policies paved the road to stop the spread of communism
to the Western European countries and Asia. (3)

The mind body problem is an ancient problem where philosophers ask, What is the relationship
between the mind and the body? . This is an ongoing problem that concerns the nature of the
relationship between the mind (consciousness or soul) and the physical world. So, what are the

Mary has been confined to a black and white room her entire life and has been educated through black
and white textbooks and televisions. Through this she has learned everything there is to know about
the physical nature of the world. She knows all there is to know about the physical facts of the
environment, chemistry, and neurophysiology. According to physicalism she knows all there is to
know. To say otherwise is to say that there is more to know than every physical fact, and that
contradicts physicalism. Mary one day leaves that room and sees the color red, which means she has
learned something new. This new knowledge is against physicalism which proves it to be false. This
argument is revolved around the qualia of experiencing something new. To understand the argument
more, one should break it down to each part that happens. When Mary is in the black and white room,
she has no knowledge of the qualia that comes from experiencing the color red. Once Mary sees the
color red and is now acquainted with the qualitative features that characterize the experiences of red.
Mary then learns and knows that she is looking at something red, and finally she knows what it is like
for others to see something red. Jackson came up with this argument to object physicalism. Since
Mary knew all the physical facts there were to know, how did she learn something

How Does Citizen Kane Use Cinematography
Extract analysis of cinematography within Citizen Kane [12:30 22:30]
This essay is an analysis of a key sequence in Citizen Kane (Orson Welles, 1941) that uses
cinematography to create mystery, intrigue, and disorder. The scenes introduce us to many main
characters and help establish the film.
The initial scene is set in a projector room where Rawlston is telling his employees, mainly Mr.
Thompson to find out more about rosebud. A long shot is used to establish the surroundings, however;
the lighting blocks off a lot of what can be seen. It is argued that their visual mysteriousness reflects
the dramatic mystery that is Kane. (Brophy, P 2008). The lighting choices do limit any clear

especially in a scene so important. Deep focus also keeps Kane in the back of everybody s mind as his
parents are deciding to sign him over to Thatcher. However, the deep focus could also be used in the
scene as a way to keep Kane more mysterious the flashbacks to his past... are frustrating our desire to
decipher Kane and thus identify with him. We are enabled to inhabit this character s space, but not

insinuate that Mrs. Kane is the one in charge as she is the closest and in the foreground. Throughout
the scene, Mrs. Kane is distant and has no eye line match or emotion in her voice. This is done to
show how emotionally distraught she is and how she is trying to keep herself together. Arguably Mrs.
Kane s grammatically correct speech and her dark dress are iconographically closer to Thatcher than
to her husband. (Mulvey, L. 54) which creates a break in the familial bond. A tracking shot brings

Functional Behavior Assessment and Behavior Support Plan
Functional behavior assessments are important to teachers and students because I believe that all
children behave a certain way for a reason. Children who have disabilities as well as children who do
not have disabilities behave in inappropriate ways and a functional behavior assessment can help to
determine why so that a plan can be developed to correct the behavior. Negative behavior is a reaction
to something happening in a child s life or an imbalance in the child. A child with an imbalance will

Functional behavior assessments are very useful to teachers because they will help to identify reasons
for inappropriate behaviors of a student. Not only will the assessment peal back the layers of a student
s behavior but it can also reveal how to change the inappropriate behavior. Students with disabilities
will have inappropriate behaviors in order to communicate with the teacher and adults involved in
their day. These behaviors could appear for something as simple as the disabled students refuses to
write down what they were asked to, because they are not able to spell or write a word. Students
without disabilities may also behave in an inappropriate way because they may not be able to spell or
write a word. The functional behavior assessment will guide a teacher to know what subject or even
what part of a subject is challenging to a student.
Functional behavioral assessments have two major components, identifying and defining target
behaviors as well as conducting behavior observations. The assessment should begin with indentifying
and defining targeted behaviors and the best way to do that is to conduct a formal interview of the
student. The interview should include family who are directly connected to the student s home life as
well as the staff involved with the student. The interview should reveal important things like when
does the behavior occur during the day, how frequently, what the behavior is receded by, what

The War in Afghanistan
Most people think of the War in Afghanistan as a war that the United States have been fighting over
the last decade. But the truth is that Afghanistan has been a country familiar with war for over the last
35 years. Afghanistan became an independent nation in 1921 and The United States formally
recognized Afghanistan as a county in 1934.(1) The first war involving the independent country of
Afghanistan was against the Soviet Union when the Soviets invaded Afghanistan in 1979. The war
between the Soviet Union and Afghanistan lasted a little over 10 years and set the conditions for a
future war between Taliban in Afghanistan and the United States. Latter the United States declared
war in Afghanistan after the terrorist attack on the United State on September 11th, 2001. The war was
not against the country, but against the Taliban military and insurgents residing in the country. This
war is still ongoing today, which makes the Afghanistan War the longest war ever fought by the
United States of America. In 1973 Price Mohammed Daud overthrew King Zahir Shah and claimed
himself as the President of Afghanistan. (2) This was the beginning of the problems in Afghanistan
and for its people. A civil war was breaking out in the country and in the Soviet Union used it as an
excuse to invade the country. The Soviet

Reasons For The Abolition Of The Slave Trade
APF Why was the slave trade abolished in 1807? 16/11/17
As a slave you are property of your owner. Your owner controls where you work, how you work, your
living and eating. Slavery had been around for centuries but by the 1700 s attitudes were beginning to
change.
The slave trade was abolished in 1807, but you must keep in mind that it was only the trade of slaves
that was banned not slavery itself! The members of the Society for the Abolition of the Slave Trade
tactically decided to focus on a campaign to persuade Parliament to ban the trading in slaves. This was
because they felt they were more likely to succeed than if they demanded the abolition of all slavery
throughout the empire. They expected that the complete abolition would continue naturally.
In economy the slave trade had become less important. There was no longer a need for large numbers
of slaves to be imported to the British colonies to work on sugar plantations because there was a world
over supply of sugar. This also meant that British merchants had difficulties re exporting it. Also sugar
could be cheaply bought without the use of slavery from Britain s other colonies. For example, India.
The Industrial Revolutions that were happening in France and England and advances and
improvements in agriculture were benefiting the British economy and provided new sources of wealth
and more efficient production without the need for slaves. Especially as the government began to
realise the costs and dangers of the slave

Mystical Experience, By Chris Frith
The human brain is the common thread which ties these selections of literature together. Our mind
controls our every action, thought, and dream, but do we shape our mind or does our mind shape us?
We are one and the same, our mind and ourselves, but who has more control our conscious mind or
our subconscious mind and how do we know what we know? in the required texts, Mystical
Experience, Numinous, and Making Up the Mind we discover unique perspectives on understanding
the unknown parts of the complex human psyche with the information they provide.
I found the PDF Mystical Experience very interesting, especially the statement mystics unconsciously
merely attribute a doctrinal content to ordinary experiences. At first, I didn t understand the meaning
of this statement but then after I let this idea sink in I realized how powerful this was to me. Every
aspect of our lives can be analyzed as reactions or messages from a higher being, one could argue that

subconscious desires then what has been real emotion and what hasn t been. but you could counter this
by argentine that everything we feel is based off the brain releasing endorphins, therefore, is it even a
possibility to feel a meaningful connection to a higher power if we already have complete control over

The Condemnation of Blackness
The Roots and Deceived Perception of Racism in the History of America America is a nation from
many, one as stated in our country s original motto. We pride ourselves on the granted equal
opportunity and freedom afforded to each citizen. But are these premises held true and adequately
carried out? My answer is a resounding no! Our country s intricate history provides us with the
foundation that explains why and how discrimination has infiltrated and given the upper hand to the
white race that has dominated the American society, while suppressing races of color. Dating back to
the discovery of the new world we know as the contemporary United States, the African American
race has been segregated and mistreated as exemplified through ... Show more content on

From this he established that the black population was going extinct in America through the process of
social Darwinism (Muhammed 32). This was the idea that those who were the strongest would thrive
and prosper, while those who were weak would not amount to any level of esteem and should be
allowed to die. Explained verbatim from those who participated in the creation of these conclusions,
this was the natural fate of a primitive race, struggling to survive on its own in an advanced civilized
society. (Muhammad 32) These publishers furthered their support by claiming that the use of statistics
in evaluating racial worth was producing more accurate conclusions that were based on a sturdy
ground. (Muhammad 33) Other sociological authorities, such as Frederick L. Hoffman jumped into
this discussion. His publishing of Race Traits and Tendencies of the American Negro focused
primarily on crime statistics involving those of the African American race. He concluded through his
findings that the criminality of the negro exceeds that of any other race of any numerical importance
in this country. (Muhammed 51) Hoffman actively postulated and portrayed his statistics regarding the
African Americans in society as a result of the genetic inferiorities evident in their entire race. This
was also supported by the incorrectly conducted biological findings such as those carried out by
Samuel Morton. He posed that the Negroes

THE UNDERLYING ISSUE BEHIND RUSSIA S PREVAILING COMPENSATION SYSTEM
2)
Performance and Membership Pay: Will the compensation
emphasize in the performance or in the membership one has with the company? Unfortunately, in the
Russian Tourism industry it is more dependent on the membership with the company than the actual
performance of individuals (Puffer and Shekshnia, 1997). 3) Job and Individual Pay: Is the pay
dependent on the quality and quantity of job an employee is doing, or on the skill set the employee
has, that he brings along with him to the company? According to my experience, in Tourism industry
the pay is based on the performance of an employee, not on the skills. 4) Open and Secret Pay: Will
the employees have access to information about other workers compensation levels and how are
compensation decisions been made (open), or will this stay hidden from the employees (secret). As
being confirmed from my colleagues in the Russian Tourism industry a mix of both, open as well as
secret pay system, is practiced.

Introduction:
The director of the movie Whale Rider, Niki Caro has included that movie is a realistic representation
of Maori traditional culture. In the movie Whale Rider, the filmmaker has shown how traditions can
separate and connect people. The director has used camera techniques, sound effects and mise en

Camera technique:
In the movie whale Rider, different types of camera techniques are used. This movie is about a girl
named paika who rides a whale just like her ancestor did. Different camera angles are used in this
scene. There are many close ups in this scene. The filmmaker used close up shots when paika goes to
the big whale and try to touch it. Koro, paikea s grandfather doesn t let her touch the whale because he
thinks this all happened because of her. This is how people can separate because of their traditions.
Extreme long shots are used when people try to drag the whale back into the water and they fail. The
facial expression is shown by using close ups. The camera is used from different positions in this
scene. The filmmaker has successfully achieved her purpose by using correct camera techniques. This

The Spanish Armada By William Shakespeare
The Spanish Armada is about a boat that set sail in July 1588 by the Spanish, and it was ordered by the
catholic King Philip ii of Spain to invade England and take down the protestant Queen Elizabeth i.
Queen Elizabeth i, was catholic but then became protestant. The Church did not like her decision and
they wanted her to become catholic again, so the Pope encouraged King Philip ii of Spain if he could
try to make England catholic again. King Philip agreed to do what the Pope had asked of him. For
years King Philip ii wanted England and he was in need of a Queen and since Elizabeth i was not wed
he proposed to Elizabeth over and over again, but Elizabeth wanted to make the decisions and wanted
to be in charge for her country and she did not want to marry because she did not want to be told what
to do by her husband, so she declined all of Philip s marriage proposals. Philip agreed that he would
give her time and he would be willing to be patient for her and the throne, and wait for Elizabeth to
accept his proposal.
Queen Elizabeth s biggest catholic rival and biggest threat to her throne was her cousin Mary Stuart,
also known as Mary Queen of Scots, seeing how Mary was next in line for Elizabeth s throne.
Elizabeth felt threatened by Mary. Elizabeth was afraid that Mary would take the throne right from her
at any moment. Elizabeth had imprisoned Mary while Mary was out riding and kept her captive in
England. After the Throckmorton Plot of 1583, Walsingham introduced the Bond

Emergency Surgery Is Caused By Weak Blood Vessels That...
Brain aneurysms are caused by weak blood vessels that balloon and fill with blood which can fatally
rupture. Once an aneurysm has ruptured, emergency surgery is needed to prevent the patient from
suffering a subarachnoid hemorrhage, a fatal type of stroke. The insertion of a detachable embolic coil
can prevent rupturing of aneurysms and the need for emergency surgery. A technical study was
conducted which used an experimental model constructed in the necks of swine to simulate a specific
type of brain aneurysm (1). A combination of stents and Guglielmi Detachable Coils were then
inserted to inhibit the fatal bleeding into the brain. This research concluded that the Guglielmi
Detachable embolic coil is a high impact device because it can ... Show more content on

Once this wire to correctly inserted within the aneurysm, a 1 mA current is exerted on the delivery
wire. The current is meant to dissolve the steel delivery wire close to the platinum coil. This process is
done by electrolysis so simultaneously the positively charged platinum will attract the negatively
charged red and white blood cells, and platelets which causes intra aneurysmal thrombosis. If
thrombosis does not happen immediately, coils also most likely enforce critical protection against re
hemorrhage by reducing blood pulsations inside the aneurysm and sealing the weak portion of the
blood vessel s wall. Eventually thrombus will build within the aneurysm and the aneurysm is excluded
from the parent blood vessel by a layer of connective tissue. This has been successfully demonstrated
in experimental dog models that were effective in producing thrombosis of the aneurysm and suggest
that the design is useful in the endovascular treatment of aneurysms (2). Once this electrolysis process
has occurred, the delivery wire can be taken out, leaving the the coil in the proper position. Now an
additional coil can be inserted into the aneurysm and this process can be repeated until the aneurysm is
densely filled with the coils to prevent it from rupturing. The coils are constructed from platinum alloy
wire that is made into the primary coil first, and then formed

The Relationship Between Pedagogy And Interaction In The...
As English is becoming a more and more popular language, it is taught as a second language in the
classroom in many countries all over the world. In consideration of this, many researchers have
analysed different kinds of interaction that happens in the classroom. Seedhouse (2004) suggests that
the organization of turn taking, sequence, and repair follow some rules in the second language
classroom. Waldspurger (1996) concludes that learners usually produce long utterances in discussion

In order to describe the interactional architecture, the institutional core goal needs to be identified at
first, which is what the teacher aims to teach to the learners in the second language classroom. This
core goal remains the same no matter who will teach it and where it will be taught. There are three
properties deriving from the core goal according to Seedhouse (2004), which shapes the interaction in
the second language classroom. Property one is that language is both the medium and goal of
instruction. That is to say, language is not only used by both teachers and learners in the second
language classroom as a medium but also it is the goal of their learning by using this language.
Property two is that pedagogy and interaction have an influence on each other, which means that if the
pedagogical focus changes, the interaction changes as well and vice versa. Whatever one says in the
second language classroom usually reflects that he is displaying his analysis of the relationship
between pedagogy and interaction. Property three is that the interaction which the learners produce

Task Switching Behavior
Video games have become one of the most popular forms of entertainment. Video games require
players to manipulate images on a screen. In general, those that play video games experience
improvements in hand eye coordination. This is logical, considering the quick movements one must
use to complete a video game. Video games also require the player to perform mental processes
similar to those the player would perform in the real world. With this in mind, it is possible that certain
video games can improve mental processes that are exercised within the virtual world. Studies have
investigated if and how driving, action, and puzzle video games improve visual skills and risk

As stated in the study video gamers outperformed non gamers in the dual task situation ts(18) 3.205,
ps .01, (***). Furthermore, the gamers outperformed nongamers on the task switching therefore.
Interesting enough, there was no significant difference in single task performance between the two
groups. While these findings seem promising, there is no way to say that the differences in dual task
and task switching performances were caused by video game play. Therefore, the investigators
decided to perform another experiment. The purpose of the experiment was to see if action video
games are responsible for the difference in performance on these tests. The researchers picked two
video games for the experiment: Medal of Honor and Tetris. Medal of Honor is an action video game
and Tetris is a puzzle game. It was hypothesized that playing Medal of Honor would create
improvements in the dual task and task switching tests while Tetris would not create an improvement.
In the between subjects experiment, 32 college students were randomly separated into three groups, 10
in the Medal of Honors group, 10 in the Tetris group, and 12 in the control group, whom were not
exposed to any video games. The experiment consisted of a pretest, conditioning trials, and a posttest.
During the pretest, all three groups were took the dual task and the task switching tests. After the tests,
the two experimental groups practiced their respective video games in 15 one hour sessions over four
weeks. The control group did not practice either video game. Finally, the three groups retook the two
tests, and the difference in performance was found. The independent variable of the experiment was

Essay on Frederick Douglas
Paper on Frederick Douglass
In the 1800 s, slavery was a predominant issue in the United States, one that most Americans in the
South dealt with daily. The Narrative of the Life of Frederick Douglass reveals much about American
history during the time of slavery as well as expounds arguments for the abolition of slavery. As a
historical document, it conveys information about the slave family, work, the master slave
relationship, and the treatment and living conditions of slaves. As an antislavery tract, it argues against
commonly held beliefs about slavery s benefits and its morality, making strong points for getting rid of
slavery. In The Narrative of the Life of Frederick Douglass, Douglass reveals, through the story he

member. Controlling the family in this way, slaveholders took away the potential strength that the
slaves could have had if they were allowed to have strong, lasting family bonds. Frederick Douglass
narrative reveals a lot about the work of the slaves. Some few slaves worked in the master s house,
some more worked in the master s production huts around the farm, but most of them worked in the
field under the watch of an overseer with a whip ready in hand. The slaves would be punished,
sometimes very severely, if they weren t working early in the morning. They could also be punished if
they didn t work fast enough or well enough. After a long day of work, they would have to go to their
huts and do their own cooking and washing. They could only sleep a few hours a night after doing all
the work they had to do. When they were finished with their work they would fall down on their beds
and sleep till they [were] summoned to the field by the driver s horn. (48) Looking at the slaves as
property, the master wanted to use them as much as he could to get his money s value. He didn t think

Steps in Banana Shoot-Tip Culture
In this era of science and technology, inventions are being made to improve the economic marketing
especially. One of the new inventions is from agriculture sector, which is plant tissue culture.
Nowadays, banana tissue culture is one of the famous inventions created by agriculturist. Robinson
and Saúco (2010) mentioned that, banana is ranked second among the other fruit in most important
fruit crop since it is high fruit production and high demands in the market. As elaborated by Singh,
Uma, Selvarajan and Karihaloo (2011), there are five steps in banana shoot tip culture namely
selecting of sucker, sterilizing of instruments, medium and environment, introducing the explant to
Murashigee Skoog (MS) medium, sub culturing the callus, and lastly is weaning and hardening of
plantlets. (refer to Figure 1 in Appendix 1) The first step in banana shoot tip tissue culture technique is
selection of healthy sucker. During this stage, a healthy sucker is chosen when it is about four months
of age. The healthy and young sucker is selected because they have higher rate differentiation, which
helps them to grow rapidly. Then, the outer tissue and the root of the sucker is pared away until the
size of meristem tissue is suitable to the size of petri dish, which is about 1.0 to 2.0 cm diameter
(Singh et al., 2011). Next, the tissue is sterilized with bleach and it is rinsed with distilled water for
three times. The second step is sterilizing of the instruments, medium and environments.

What Does Alliteration In True Night Mean

  • 2. The Belief Of God s Middle Knowledge No doubt there is horrific evil that exists within the world. Acts of violence, greed, and corruption describe moral evil that humanity commits while innocents suffer as well as the existence of natural evil such as catastrophic disasters and disease that plague mankind as well. All the while, a divine sovereign God who brought forth life governs over his flock of children that suffer as a result of these evils. The traditional theists believe God is all knowing or omniscient, all powerful or omnipotent, and altruistic, although evil and human suffering still exists. This problem of evil directly correlates to God s attribute of knowledge, where God knows humanity s available choices given a set of circumstances or counter set of circumstances or what is known as Molinism or middle knowledge (Peterson, et al., Reason and Religious Belief, p. 164). God s middle knowledge does seem to have limits, considering humanity can freely make their own decisions given a set of circumstances of which God influences, but does not command. Because humanity s free will decisions are unknown to God, as he creates the path but does not control his or her decisions, there is an escape from the problem of evil as traditional theists perceive God as all knowing and yet permitting great suffering. As a captain of a ship steers a vessel s course towards its destination, so too does God set in motion a path of which humanity is to follow to achieve God s divine will and purpose. God ... • 3. Descriptive Essay About Vacations Our vacation started with what seemed like a week of packing when in reality it was only a day or two. We had been thinking of and planning our trip to Yellowstone for quite a while. We were all excited for the trip to come. It started with a long drive through Nebraska stopping at night to set up camp and get some sleep. We were all exhausted and slept like rocks. The next morning we made breakfast and got to driving again. As always, we stopped at various parks and rest stops to get out and look around. That afternoon we were in dire need of showers and couldn t seem to find a campsite that offered showers. We searched through what seemed like a thousand campgrounds. My mom and I had pretty much given up looking at this point and were ready to resort to bucket baths. When we pulled into the campsite it turned out to be a rather pleasant campground. There was plenty of privacy, flat ground, trees, and of course a shower. My mom and I also were pleasantly surprised to find that the showers were also free. While there was still daylight. We got a fire going set up our tents and looked around a bit. When we were finally ready we all went and bathed in the glorious creation of soap and hot running water cascading on our heads and bodies. The next day we got up, packed up our stuff, and started on our way to our next destination. Rocky Mountain National Park. On our way there we stopped in a little town for lunch and ate about two loaves of bread in sandwiches. As it started ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Vertigo and His Girl Friday The films Vertigo and His Girl Friday, directed by Alfred Hitchcock and Howard Hawks respectively, are good representations of classical cinema. A stigma associated with classical cinema is the film s portrayal of women. Feminist film theorists believe that the male protagonist play a more prominent role while women are only something to be looked at and acted upon. Both films possess a male and a female protagonist. His Girl Friday casts Cary Grant as a cunning newspaper editor named Walter Burns, as well as Rosalind Russell as former reporter and former wife of Walter, Hildy Johnson. Vertigo stars James Stewart as a former detective named Scottie Ferguson, and Kim Novak as Madeleine Ester, a woman Scottie is hired to investigate. Both films challenge the feminist s hypothesis with powerful and intelligent women who have some control over men in the film. Yet in both films the male protagonist ultimately has control over the female even though the stigma is tested throughout the entirety of both films. In the film His Girl Friday, Hildy Johnson is an ex reporter whose goal is to settle down and have a normal life with her fiancé Bruce Baldwin. She returns to tell Walter that she is finished reporting forever but Walter s goal is to make her a reporter again and eventually remarry her. Hildy is a beautiful woman and steals every scene she is in, other than perhaps the scenes involving Walter. In an early scene of the film Hildy enters in on the reporters playing ... • 5. Morals And Values In Everyday Use By Alice Walker Historically, values and beliefs are ascribed to people depending on their family s heritage. Most religious people are religious because they were brought up in a home that believed in a particular religion. There are some scholars that have been taught by the best schools and teachers due to their family having a grand educational background. Even though all individuals are different in their own right, a family normally holds the same beliefs and values as one another. Morals and values are traditionally passed down through generations, however, there are situations where social influences can play a role in deciding a person s principals. Family members that are influenced by society rather than their families can easily become the outliers of the bunch. In Everyday Use , Alice Walker demonstrates how social differences such as religion, education, and status between family members can cause a disconnection within the family. Dee s social change in religion causes a disconnection between the family. Walker makes it evident in the story that Mama is a Christian when she describes a feeling that she has like when I m in church and the spirit of God touches me... (499). One could assume that both Dee and Maggie were brought up as Christians along with Mama. On her visit back home, Dee tells her mother to call her Wangero instead of Dee and uses terms such as Wa su zo Tean o and Asalamalakum which signifies that she has adopted the Muslim religion. She also brings a friend along with her who has adopted the Muslim religion as well. The story portrays Mama to seem as though she has no interest in Dee s new name, and David Cowart explains this by stating She [Mama] tries to have it both ways, referring to her daughter now by one name, now by the other, now by parenthetically hybridized combinations of both (171). Mama named Dee after a family member, so when Dee changed her name to something else, a disconnection between her and the family arose. Another social difference Walker uses to illustrate a disconnection within the family is education. Mama only has second grade education due to her school burning down and never getting rebuilt. Mama explains how Maggie has a hard time reading and knows ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 6. Research Paper On Charles Manson Family Cult Charles Manson, who died on November 19, 2017 aged 83, was the leader of the Manson Family cult, located in Los Angeles, California in the late 1960 s. This was a non religious cult but had some beliefs within scientology and satanism. Charles Manson believed that there was to be a race war in America in the near future and that the African Americans would win, but then look to the Whites for guidance. This then lead Manson and his one hundred plus followers, mostly young women, to attempt to instigate this war so that they could be prepared and hide away until the African Americans won, and then the family would be the ones the African Americans would turn to for leadership (The 10 Most Famous Cults, 2017). ... • 7. The Power Struggle Between Robespierre And Danton When I first read about this course in a summer email, I was blown away by the description and content of the reacting class. It seemed like more of a fun game that a few good friends might play rather than an honors history course. Over the past few months, I have seen that this course is a combination of game and class, which, in turn, makes learning fun. This is the reason that I have learned much about history and perhaps even more about myself during this course. I could say that I learned about the influence and tactics of Thomas Cromwell or say I saw firsthand the power struggle between Robespierre and Danton. I could say I learned about the ideas of Rousseau, Burke, Diderot, More, Marsilius, Machiavelli, and, of course, Baldassare Castiglione. I could say I learned about the crowd, the National Assembly, the courts of Henry VIII and the Parliament of England. It would be easy to simply say that I learned the basic history of the English Reformation and the French Revolution because that is the simplest learning accomplished during this course. However, aside from the rudimentary knowledge of the two events, I saw and learned from two specific trends exhibited in each of our games: the formation and churning of factions and the variability and unpredictability of chance. Factions quickly appeared in both of our games: the Boleyn s versus the Aragonese for the English game and the three parties of the Jacobins, the Feulliants, and the Conservatives in the ... • 8. The Hero In Odysseus In Homer s The Odyssey To most people, a hero is a person who is admired for their courage, noble qualities, outstanding acheivements and sacrificing their life for others. Heroes in Greek mythology were often seen as a people who were clever, talented, courageuos, noble, had great strenght, had great victories in battle, connections to the gods and to other supernatural forces. Odysseus shows many signs of heroic traits throughout his quest in The Odyssey. Odysseus is put into numerous life threatening situations but he overcomes them. While Odysseus is overcoming the obstacles he is presented with, he demonstrates that he has the characteristics of a hero. Odysseus shows no signs of being a villian throughout the entire story as he tries to get back to Ithica, his home, and reunite with his wife, family and friends. Odysseus shows how clever and talented he is many times throughout The Odyssey. Odysseus is very cunning, but this does not make him a villian because he uses it to help his crew survive on their quest back to Ithica. Odysseus does not use his cunning to trick innocent people into doing something for Odysseus personal gain. Odysseus shows how cunning he is when he tells Polyphemus his name is noman, so the other Cyclops will not come to Polyphemus aid when they blind him. Another example is ... • 9. Methods And Procedures Of A Golf Etiquette Methods and Procedures Interviews were administered during November 2014, with ten randomly selected working men and women throughout the state of Mississippi. Interviewees were asked a certain set of questions dealing with golf etiquette, business golf as a sales tactic, and whether or not it is beneficial or just a game. Secondary research was conducted through electronic searches. Findings Golf etiquette is not the first thing that comes to mind when making a sale or taking on a new clientele. Companies have used it for years, however, to forge personal relationships with clients. It is an impeccable way to learn traits about a potential client in a casual setting, without even talking about business. From the client s perspective, it ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Most people would turn down a four hour meeting if just asked to sit at the office. Eurich (2014) also states that one of the biggest problems with business golf is when individuals in sales pass up the chance to network with potential clients by declining the invitation to play. Some let their personal golfing ability be the deciding factor of this opportunity, when in reality the level of play is not the focal point. Hill (2014) furthers this point by mentioning that if the opponent is not as good of a golfer as most, not to torment or make fun of him. Giving encouragement instead of offering lessons is the correct move in this situation in order to not make him or her feel inferior to the rest. Success in business golf is about respect, not the score. How Golf and Business Correlate Quinn Thomas (2014) speak from personal experience as they address business golf when they say that the relation between business tactic and the game of golf is very strong although most people overlook it. Professional golfer, Cary Middlecoff, as cited by Quinn Thomas (2014) expresses that many golfers cost themselves strokes by not playing to their strengths. If they do not pick the correct club for the particular shot, then it may ruin their game. This can be exemplified in the workplace as well when companies do not correctly utilize the resources available to them. It can prove to be ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 10. My Best Moments In My Life Of My Family Do you have that special person in your life that no matter what situation you are going through they manage to put a smile on your face? There are some people in life that makes you laugh a little louder, smile a little bigger, and live a little better. For me, this special person happens to be my best friend Alexia Reese. Some of my best moments in life involves her. She is so full of laughter and joy. Her humor style is definitely one of a kind, very weird and crazy. The one time Alexia could not stop laughing was one of the most embarrassing days of her life. She had just applied and received an interview at her dream job in the beauty department. She was beyond excited and nervous all at once. Alexia said The one thing that makes me truly happy other than making people laugh is beating my face . I remember receiving over twenty phone calls from her right before her interview that morning. We tried serval techniques trying to get her to calm down a little. Once her name was called her stomach immediately sunk to her feet. Sitting across from the store manager answering question after question she felt sweat dripping from her forehead. Then he asked her Why should we hire you for this job ? Alexia was not prepared for this question. Her mind went completely blank. The room was super quiet. Next thing you know she let out a huge fart that sounded like a gun being fired. She finally responded, I shouldn t have eaten McDonald s before I came here huh ? Her face was full ... • 11. Crime And The Crimes Of Crime Essay According to the Australian Bureau of Statistics (2006) crime is defined as an offence punishable by the State on behalf of the general public whose standards do not permit the offending behaviour. Whilst countless studies have been conducted over the years surrounding crime and the committing of crimes by individuals , there has also long been debate surrounding whether or not crime is gendered and if so, to what extent. Over the decades a number of studies have been conducted in order to answer this question, with significantly varying results uncovered. Whilst some studies, including those by Darrell Steffensmeier and Emilie Allan (1996) and Jennifer Schwartz and Darrell Steffensmeier (2008) have found that gender plays a significant role in the committing of crimes, other studies including that of Kenneth Polk (1993) have found that the prevalence of gender differences in crimes is reliant on the nature of the crime itself. According to Frances Heidensohn (1985), gender appears to be the single most crucial variable associated with criminality (p.22). In agreement with this statement, Steffensmeier and Allan (1996) highlighted in Gender and Crime: Toward a gendered Theory of Female Offending , that worldwide criminologists agree that the gender gap within offenders of crime is universal, in that men are always more likely to commit a criminal act than women. We no longer dress up in head dresses and make sacrifices, but we do try our best to preserve and teach our culture and heritage. Today the Creek Nation is still an organized community with a leader, meetings, rituals, and a language. Creek Indians can be found in many places today, and there is no definite way to tell that one is of the creek descent except by their blood. To declare yourself as a creek citizen you must first be able to trace back to a direct ancestor listed on the 1906 Dawes Roll ( Muscogee ). In my own family, many of the traditions we continue to celebrate and do would not have been passed on if it was not for the closeness of our family. My mother can make many native foods from growing up around her grandmother such as traditional Creek Fry bread; things that I know I will one day pass on to my children. I can still remember my great grandmother teaching my sister and I how to do traditional basket weaving, a tradition still taught in classes at the Creek Nation today. Basket weaving is one of the oldest known Native American crafts and shows the diversity of tribes as the different styles of basket weaving are still present today (Lollman). If families did not pass on our heritage, many of our native songs and dances performed at powwows would not be around to see or reenact today. Ultimately all of the traditions we have today would not be here if it was not for the families passing their knowledge and memories down. Another way that many creek families have kept their culture alive is by still having traditional Indian burials and funerals. I recently had the chance to observe this type of funeral for the first time. From this experience I noticed many traditions that I had not known or even seen before. In his extensively researched book, Venice against the Sea, Keahey states Venice has sunk six feet over the past 1000 years. While its historical importance as a major hub for trade is over, it remains economically lucrative due to its historically rich Myth of Venice and its significant cultural importance. Venice against the sea describes how the city is being assaulted by climate change along with environmental degradation compounded by a corrupt political system and the very tourism that sustains it. In a 2000 CNN interview then Mayor, Paola Costa states, we risk disappearing due to excess love...all those who are using Venice for their own interests must make a contribution to preserve the myth The effects of rising sea water and global warming on the lagoon city are resulting in significant flooding, the worst of which occurred in 1966, the Acqua Alta or high water. It isn t just climate change that jeopardizes Venice, it was the lapse in upkeep of the foundation, short sighted expansion and redesigning of water ways and the pumping of ground water from beneath Venice that is hastening its sinking. In 1970 this practice was called to a halt. But this danger to Venice is not a new occurrence in Venice s history, but it is the severity and frequency of the flooding that is accelerating the damage and sinking. The danger from the high ... How Did The Cold War Containment The U.S. had a foreign policy of containment during the Cold War and wished to stop the spread of communism by the Soviets because they send economic aid to Western European countries and they collaborate with democratic nations who are resisting subjugation. The containment policy resulted in the joining of NATO (i.e. the end of isolationism) and the majorly successful Truman Doctrine, Marshall Plan, and the Berlin airlift. Those policies paved the road to stop the spread of communism to the Western European countries and Asia. I will be describing the basic concept of the mind body problem with the five basic problems that are categorized with it. The mind body problem is an ancient problem where philosophers ask, What is the relationship between the mind and the body? . This is an ongoing problem that concerns the nature of the relationship between the mind (consciousness or soul) and the physical world. To say otherwise is to say that there is more to know than every physical fact, and that contradicts physicalism. Mary one day leaves that room and sees the color red, which means she has learned something new. This new knowledge is against physicalism which proves it to be false. This argument is revolved around the qualia of experiencing something new. To understand the argument more, one should break it down to each part that happens. When Mary is in the black and white room, she has no knowledge of the qualia that comes from experiencing the color red. Once Mary sees the color red and is now acquainted with the qualitative features that characterize the experiences of red. Mary then learns and knows that she is looking at something red, and finally she knows what it is like for others to see something red. Jackson came up with this argument to object physicalism. How Does Citizen Kane Use Cinematography Extract analysis of cinematography within Citizen Kane [12:30 22:30] This essay is an analysis of a key sequence in Citizen Kane (Orson Welles, 1941) that uses cinematography to create mystery, intrigue, and disorder. The scenes introduce us to many main characters and help establish the film. The initial scene is set in a projector room where Rawlston is telling his employees, mainly Mr. Thompson to find out more about rosebud. A long shot is used to establish the surroundings, however; the lighting blocks off a lot of what can be seen. It is argued that their visual mysteriousness reflects the dramatic mystery that is Kane. (Brophy, P 2008). Throughout the scene, Mrs. Kane is distant and has no eye line match or emotion in her voice. This is done to show how emotionally distraught she is and how she is trying to keep herself together. Not only will the assessment peal back the layers of a student s behavior but it can also reveal how to change the inappropriate behavior. Students with disabilities will have inappropriate behaviors in order to communicate with the teacher and adults involved in their day. These behaviors could appear for something as simple as the disabled students refuses to write down what they were asked to, because they are not able to spell or write a word. Students without disabilities may also behave in an inappropriate way because they may not be able to spell or write a word. The functional behavior assessment will guide a teacher to know what subject or even what part of a subject is challenging to a student. Functional behavioral assessments have two major components, identifying and defining target behaviors as well as conducting behavior observations. The assessment should begin with indentifying and defining targeted behaviors and the best way to do that is to conduct a formal interview of the student. But the truth is that Afghanistan has been a country familiar with war for over the last 35 years. Afghanistan became an independent nation in 1921 and The United States formally recognized Afghanistan as a county in 1934.(1) The first war involving the independent country of Afghanistan was against the Soviet Union when the Soviets invaded Afghanistan in 1979. The war between the Soviet Union and Afghanistan lasted a little over 10 years and set the conditions for a future war between Taliban in Afghanistan and the United States. Latter the United States declared war in Afghanistan after the terrorist attack on the United State on September 11th, 2001. The war was not against the country, but against the Taliban military and insurgents residing in the country. This war is still ongoing today, which makes the Afghanistan War the longest war ever fought by the United States of America. In 1973 Price Mohammed Daud overthrew King Zahir Shah and claimed himself as the President of Afghanistan. (2) This was the beginning of the problems in Afghanistan and for its people. • 24. Reasons For The Abolition Of The Slave Trade APF Why was the slave trade abolished in 1807? 16/11/17 As a slave you are property of your owner. Your owner controls where you work, how you work, your living and eating. Slavery had been around for centuries but by the 1700 s attitudes were beginning to change. The slave trade was abolished in 1807, but you must keep in mind that it was only the trade of slaves that was banned not slavery itself! The members of the Society for the Abolition of the Slave Trade tactically decided to focus on a campaign to persuade Parliament to ban the trading in slaves. This was because they felt they were more likely to succeed than if they demanded the abolition of all slavery throughout the empire. They expected that the complete abolition would continue naturally. In economy the slave trade had become less important. There was no longer a need for large numbers of slaves to be imported to the British colonies to work on sugar plantations because there was a world over supply of sugar. This also meant that British merchants had difficulties re exporting it. Also sugar could be cheaply bought without the use of slavery from Britain s other colonies. For example, India. The Industrial Revolutions that were happening in France and England and advances and improvements in agriculture were benefiting the British economy and provided new sources of wealth and more efficient production without the need for slaves. The Church did not like her decision and they wanted her to become catholic again, so the Pope encouraged King Philip ii of Spain if he could try to make England catholic again. King Philip agreed to do what the Pope had asked of him. Once an aneurysm has ruptured, emergency surgery is needed to prevent the patient from suffering a subarachnoid hemorrhage, a fatal type of stroke. The insertion of a detachable embolic coil can prevent rupturing of aneurysms and the need for emergency surgery. A technical study was conducted which used an experimental model constructed in the necks of swine to simulate a specific type of brain aneurysm (1). This process is done by electrolysis so simultaneously the positively charged platinum will attract the negatively charged red and white blood cells, and platelets which causes intra aneurysmal thrombosis. If thrombosis does not happen immediately, coils also most likely enforce critical protection against re hemorrhage by reducing blood pulsations inside the aneurysm and sealing the weak portion of the blood vessel s wall. Eventually thrombus will build within the aneurysm and the aneurysm is excluded from the parent blood vessel by a layer of connective tissue. This has been successfully demonstrated in experimental dog models that were effective in producing thrombosis of the aneurysm and suggest that the design is useful in the endovascular treatment of aneurysms (2). Once this electrolysis process has occurred, the delivery wire can be taken out, leaving the the coil in the proper position.
