Explain The Roles And Differences Between Consumer And...
1. Differentiate between mechanized, semi automated, automated, and information directed handling
systems. The mechanized type handling system, is a combination through labor and equipment
handling that utilizes the help from facilities processing, receiving, and shipping. Although a high
percentage of overall cost is associated with this type of labor system. Also, with having to use a high
amount of human labor workers, there is more use of forklifts and carousels. Where when using an
automated system, there would be a cut in labor costs due to the use of automated equipment that can
accomplish the job that man power is being used to accomplish. A lot of these costs can be pretty
expensive up front, but in the long run they end up paying themselves off. When a mix of both are
used though, it s called semi automated. Which can in turn help increase efficiency. But at the same
time, using completely automated systems can help reduce in any forms of error in sorting processes.
Within semi automated systems, there is the final form of information directed handling. This system
uses information technology to help direct mechanized or any automated equipment. 2. Explain the
roles and differences between consumer and industrial focused packaging. The roles and differences
between consumer and industrial focused packaging are pretty up to point. The consumer packaging is
primarily focused on product and marketing rather than focusing on getting the product to its
destination

Agatha Christie s Witness for the Prosecution Essay
This paper will present a compare and contrast of the short story, Witness for the Prosecution to the
screenplay of the same name written by Agatha Christie. The focus of the similarities and differences
will be, a review of the characters and the story.
In both versions there are both likable and unlikable characters that create a gripping tale where you
find yourself hoping young Leonard Vole will beat the overwhelming odds stacked against him. Vole
has been accused of murdering the late Mrs. Finch and in both he is represented by the defense
attorney, Mr. Mayherne (changed later in the screenplay to Mayhew). However, in the screenplay
Mayherne is the assistant of Sir Wilfrid Robarts, Q.C. Sir Robarts plays a foremost roll in ... Show

Leonard, the accused, Mayherne the defense lawyer, Romaine the wife of the accused, the deceased
Mrs. Finch and her maid Janet MacKenzie all play chief rolls in Christie s creation; however, it is Sir
Robarts who is the most notable addition.
While the characters, are mostly the same, with the addition of some others, their parts in the story
differ as much as does the ending of both. Leonard again is the accused, and Mayherne his defense,
but Mayherne acts as a bit of a detective in the story and does little in the way of sleuthing in the play.
The old woman, Mrs. Finch, while saved from a speeding bus by Loenard in both accounts, is later
reunited with her savior at a party in the short story and in the play she finds him at the theater. None
of this really impacts either story because in both instances her only purpose for being in the story is
so she can fulfill the role in the classic style of all who done its by being the one who gets bludgeoned
to death. In both cases, Leonard s wife plays the evil woman out to do in her husband and lie about his
whereabouts the night of the murder. Mayherne interviews Romaine at her home in the original, but in
the play she meets Mayherne and Sir Robarts at their office early in the play. When Romaine learns
she is Leonard s only alibi, she leads Mayherne and Robarts to believe that she intendeds to sabotage
her husband s defense. However, while Romaine provides a stirring distraction for

Antisocial Personality Behavior Essay
Antisocial Personality Behavior
When we define abnormal behavior we must keep in mind that normal differs from culture to culture.
What it is normal for a person from India is completely strange for a person from Europe, Colombia or
Japan. To determine whether a person s behavior is abnormal psychologist use three basic criteria as
follows: Deviation from statistical norms and social norms, maladaptive behavior, and personal
distress. If the individual s behavior is considered abnormal , mental health professionals use the
Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders (DSM) as a methodical tool to aid in the
diagnosis and treatment of the patient. This paper will focus on the exploration of personality disorder

Axis ? refers to the description of symptoms that causes significant impairment. Axis II defines long
term problems that are unnoticed in the presence of Axis I disorders. Personality disorders can have a
deep effect on how a patient relates to the world, for example antisocial personality disorder. Axis III
offers information about any medical conditions that could be present. Axis IV describes the
psychosocial and environmental factors influencing the person. Axis V allows the clinician to rate the
client s overall level of functioning. It uses a rating scale called the Global Assessment of Functioning
(GAF). This rating scale goes from 0 to 100 and provides a way to summarize how well the person is
functioning overall.
The movie Girl interrupted gives an insight of a group of girls in a mental institution. In this paper I
will describe Lisa Rowe, who is one of the patients of this institution, her behavior, and diagnoses.
Lisa Rowe, played by Angelina Jolie, was diagnosed as a sociopath with falls under the category of
antisocial personality disorder. According to the DSM IV TR (2000) antisocial personality disorder is
a pattern of disregard for and violation of rights of others. People with antisocial personality disorder,

Stephanie Hervey Character Analysis Essay
People are always either judging others or being judged. They act on what they see others do. They
see what they dislike and like in others, and decide on whether to follow or judge. Clarence is a
parvenu and arrogant man who is always on the lookout for other snobs , and tries to avoid them.
Maria Edgeworth defines C. Hervey s character as a cliched young man whose intellect and wealth
make rather overbearing. In the selection, C. Hervey s self absorbed character is developed through
judgemental tone, third person limited point of view, and descriptive language.
The narrator reveals a judgemental tone of Clarence Hervey through descriptions of his character. The
tone represents not only the personality of the narrator but also the characters in the selection. An

In the selection, she portrays a descriptive language when describing C. Hervey s character. One
literary element that she uses is diction. She uses words such as chameleon character, imprudent , wild
, and eccentric . By using these words, she is showing us a better picture of Hervey s personality.
Chameleon is a very distinctive and highly specialized lizard. Imprudent is saying that he doesnt care
about the consequences for his actions, which also goes with the word wild. Eccentric means that on
top of everything else, he is also slightly strange. Another literary element that she uses is
juxtaposition. Another example in line 53, Consequently he saw Belinda almost every day, and every
day he saw her with increasing admiration of her beauty, and with increasing dread of being taken in
to marry a niece of the catch match maker , the name by which Mrs. Stanhope was known amongst the
men of his acquaintance. By saying this, she is showing contrast by saying that she admires her for
beauty and attracted to her, but yet he has a fear of marrying her. The narrator s descriptive language
helps define Clarence s complex

The Setting In The Most Dangerous Game
A man falls overboard and is lost at sea. He washes up on a strange island with no means of escape
and no possible way of contacting anyone to rescue him. He is trapped on the island. This is one way
the setting of The Most Dangerous Game enhances the plot by adding suspense, action and mystifying
image in the readers of the setting and adding an atmosphere of mystery.
The first area that the setting enhances the plot is in the feeling of suspense in the story. If the story
hadn t taken in a place with thick forest, a large swamp, and most of all being on an island, this story
wouldn t have as interesting or suspenseful as it is. Since the setting is on an island with only
Rainsford and Zaroff, this gives a feeling of being trapped. As there is no escape but if the story was
on the mainland there would be a much easier means of escape. The forest also adds greatly to the
plot, as without the forest Rainsford could not have hid as well as he did, set many traps to help even
odds, and beat the Zaroff at his own game and ambush him in his own home. Without these key
setting pieces, The Most Dangerous Game would have been a much duller story.

The mystery the setting gives to the story is one of the major plot components that keeps The Most
Dangerous Game a constant page turner. Right ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
If the setting hadn t been on the ocean in the beginning, it would have been impossible for Rainsford
to have ever fallen overboard and wash up on Zaroff s island. If Rainsford had never washed up on the
island, there never would have been a hunt and the event that happen during the hunt. Without the
setting being a thick overgrown jungle, Rainsford would have never been able to survive for as long as
he did. The jungle setting allowed Rainsford to make liberal use of traps and false trails to trick Zaroff
and buy himself time.

Short Story On Servus
Sya s disbelief hardened into resolve at my bleak statement. I don t care how much weaker they are. I
m going to join them. My eyes went as wide as saucers. No, don t! Please! The rebels don t stand a
chance, and I don t want you to die! And think about all the servuses here. If the royal guard sees you
associating with the rebels, everyone you knew here will be put under scrutiny, and it will never be
forgotten, and all of us would lose any slim chance we had at escape. Sya s face fell. She pressed her
lips together, and after a few moments spoke again. I know. No one moral has ever usurped the
Icaenan monarchy successfully. Do you know where the word servus comes from? The Ancient

THE LEGAL, ETHICAL, AND TECHNOLOGICAL CONCERNS OF

New advancement in technology has made it easy for many CEOs to have the opportunity to loot their
companies, and to engage in accounting irregularities. Technology has made improvements to the way
a company does business with others, and also it has opened up ethical concerns for the way a
company conducts their business. Recently, accounting professionals have been placed under immense
pressure by changes in the size and scope of financial markets (Love, 2007 para. 1). Companies use
the financial reporting system to communicate the financial effects of the company to outsiders (Love,
2007). This paper will discuss the legal, ethical, and technological concerns of the accounting, and

Enron, a multinational company avoided showing their true financial statements for several years with
the help of their auditor. Arthur Anderson, the company s auditor signed off on the validity of the
company s accounts despite the inaccuracies in the financial statements (Accounting ethics, 2011,
para. 12). As a result of Arthur Anderson engaging in unethical practices, Enron s shareholders lost
their money when the company went into bankruptcy, Arthur Andersen employees lost their jobs, and
the company went out of business (Accounting ethics, 2011, para. 12). Another example is Adelphia
founder, and former CEO John Rigas. He was found guilty of looting Adelphia in 2005. (Mallor,
Barnes, Bowers, Langvardt, 2010). Rigas, along with his son, and CFO Scott, was accused of using
the company as their on private ATM to provide fifty million dollars in cash advances, buy 1.6 billion
in securities, and repay 252 million in margin loans. As a result of their crimes Rigs received fifteen
years in prison, and his son, and former CFO Scott, received twenty years in prison (Mallor et al.,
2010).
As a response to these major accounting scandals new reforms, regulations, and calls for higher
education have been introduced to deter any individual from engaging in unethical behavior.
According to Love, (2007) the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), the Financial Accounting
Standard Board (FASB), and the Public Company Accounting Oversight Board (PCAOB) were

How Can We Deal with the Problem of Illegal Immigration Essay
How Can We Deal With The Problem Of Illegal Immigration?
Being here as an illegal immigrant is a huge problem. Tax payer s money pays for their medical bills,
the jails, and deportation back to where they came from. Our jobs and identities are being taken away
as well. Coming to the United States is seen as an advantage to get ahead in life for most other
countries. When they take advantage of breaking the system it effects the citizens more so than it does
them. There are several people who came here and worked hard to get their citizenship the legal way.
When it seems the government is letting them get away with breaking the law it attracts more people
to come here illegally.
Illegal immigration refers to the action of people ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
However, research indicates that the majority of the illegal immigrants go to their chosen destinations
for the primarily economic and personal reasons, such as search for jobs opportunities and family
reunification. It thus implies that by understanding the reasons as to why these people migrate
illegally, the respective states may come up with executable measures to ensure that illegal
immigration is no more. The best option for solving the issue of illegal immigration in an effective
manner is by removing the incentives that draw the people into other states without following the
recommended legal procedures (Hoffmeier, 2009).
At first, the governments experiencing cases of illegal immigration need to enforce their laws of
immigration and to crack down on those employers that hire illegal aliens. The governments should
decide to make it a felony act for employing people without undergoing the proper channels of
immigration and checking the applicant s background (Gaines Kappeler, 2011). The only way of
making illegal immigrants leave the countries under which they reside illegally is by making life
difficult for them to keep on leaving there. For example, the governments should opt to ignore
granting driver s licenses, public schooling opportunities, food stamps and permanent employment to
the people that reside in the states illegally. Choosing this option is essential because it is very hard to
track and trace

The infected are trapped by strategically placed trucks that are blocking their path. Only one at a time
would be able to squeeze through, not enough to create an actual threat. Rick is creating a plan to
excavate the walkers when one truck falls off the ledge, leaving an open path for the walkers to travel.
I guess this discovery determines how Alexandria has stayed in tact for so long. But the bigger
problem is, how are they going to get rid of these walkers so they don t become a larger threat.
This is where the episode kind of lost me...Ricks plan is to basically lead the infected 20 miles away.
Doesn t this seem a bit ridiculous? Why couldn t they set them on fire? Or at least come up with a
different plan. I find it hard to believe they couldn t think of something other than this complicated
and insane idea to lead infected away with noise and using Daryl as bait. I understand that it makes
things interesting but it just seemed like such a stretch to me.
Another grievence I had with this episode is the character, Carter. We meet him and he is obviously
very apprehensive towards Rick. He even tries to create a plan to kill Rick before he gets anyone
killed. Eugene overhears this plan and almost gets shot but Rick comes into the house just in time and

What Is The Turning Point Of The Book Thief
The Book Thief is a historical fiction novel by Markus Zusak. Based on its title, some readers might
think the story is just about a thief who steals books, but really it s more emotional than stealing
books, the story is about a young girl named Liesel Meminger who steals books when people in
Germany were captivated by Adolf Hitler from book burning and other places. The interesting point is
that the books are not something really important, in fact, they re just normal reading books, and the
reason she steals the books is because of her desire for reading. Even Though Liesel is the protagonist
of this novel, but in this essay, the main focus point is not her, but another guy who is also loved by
the readers. The novel is narrated by Death, a guy who s getting tired and bored of his job. He wants a
vacation, but sadly no one can replace him. He tries to find ways to give meaning to his job. He is
fascinated by humans and colours of the world, and he is curious of how humans are capable of so
much ugliness and so much beauty. Death is some way more human than a lot of people. For example:
he has real feelings just like humans, he had experience both sadness and joy throughout the story. ...

who died from the World War II. He saw them dying painfully one by one and carried millions of their
souls away during the war, and he truly understood the ugliness of humans; on the other hand, he also

The Social and Cultural Life of Americans during the Cold War
The threat of nuclear war in the 1950 s was real and was one that was on the mind nearly every person
in both the United States and the United Kingdom. After the end of the Second World War the world
can be seen to be split into two sides, the East and the West, Communism and Democracy. After the
Second World War the Soviet Union became paranoid with the West as well as the United States
become paranoid of the Communist East, and after the Soviets had made their first nuclear bomb this
created massive friction between the NATO alliance and the Soviet Union and the eastern bloc. Only
after the soviet union had obtained the hydrogen bomb and began to stockpile nuclear warheads in the

were advised to build fallout shelters and in schools children were told to duck and cover in the case

that of the USA. As Peter Hennessy expresses in his book Having it so good, Britain in the fifties The
wider, personal implications of the bomb perhaps burnt their way into the collective British psyche
more slowly than might have been expected 3. Towards the beginning of the nuclear arms race, a lot
of information was not disclosed to the public, such as the amount if casualties caused if the Soviet
Union dropped bombs on Britain which was around 1,378,000 people, and the size of the bombs used
was around 1.6 megatons of TNT. Although there were some civil defence films that tried to paint a
picture of nuclear war none of them captured the threat of war and many films trivialised it as Spencer

Hitler s World War II
Seeing all the flaws in other people, Hitler persecuted more than 6 million people in total during his
dictatorship. Most of the people innocent and having nothing to do with why he was angry at the
world. Hitler saw all the things he believed had hurt the nation and he said that if another world war
were to begin that it would end with the elimination of Jews in Europe. He used the Jews as a
scapegoat to why there was an economic crisis and to why Germany had lost World War 1. Although
Hitler had standards he wanted the people to have and live by, he often didn t follow them himself.
After September 1939 Hitler enacted on his wish to start the extermination of the Jews, the Nazis

Continuities In The Commerce Of The Indian Ocean
From 650 CE to 1750 CE, there were many changes and continuities in the commerce of the Indian
Ocean region. One major continuity in the commerce of the Indian Ocean was the emergence and use
of the same trade routes for both imports and exports of goods such as gold and ivory. One major
change was how the commerce of the Indian Ocean prospered economically. The commerce of the
Indian Ocean developed rapidly, and the trade incorporated places such as East Africa, the Persian
Gulf, Red Sea and India. Another major change was the increased involvement of the Europeans in the
Indian Ocean commerce shortly after discovering it.
One major continuity in the commerce of the Indian Ocean was the continued use of the same trade
routes and ports in the Indian Ocean for imports and exports. Trading ports in East Africa served as a
method of transporting goods from Africa. The goods being traded was another continuity. Gold,
ivory, and iron were constantly being exported from Africa due to their profitable values. These items
could be sold at a profit because they were scarce in Asian countries. Another continuity was the
tradition in the use of monsoon winds to help travel. The Indian Ocean trade was made easier by the
monsoon winds that circulated between Asia and the Eastern coast which reduced travel times, and
produced favorable wind currents.
However, there were also many changes in the commerce of the Indian Ocean. The commerce of the

Freud discussed the psychoanalytical aspect of war and how human character, flaw and greed affect
the causes and effects of war. Einstein reached out to Freud after the First World War, as requested to
do so by the International Institute of Intellectual Cooperation (IIIC), to discuss what he called a
subject calculated to serve the common interest of the League of Nations and of intellectual life. His
central argument surrounds wars between nations, international affairs, but agrees that these greater
wars must originate at the individual. Einstein continues, not to explain why men engage in acts of
war and violence, but to suggest ways in which war can be resolved by setting up, by international
consent, of a legislative and judicial body to settle every conflict arising between nations... [that

accept its judgments unreservedly and to carry out every measure the tribunal deems necessary... He
believes that laws governed by the community, instead of individualistic oligarchies, will do well to
succeed. This does eventually somewhat translate to actual law during World War II: First, that

Descartes Dualism Essay
Dualism is a broad term that can encompass many areas within philosophy itself. In aspect to
metaphysics, it classifies the types of entities in the world into two subcategories, physical and non
physical substance. While this may appear to be a very wide and ambiguous opinion, it becomes very
specific in regards to our own existence. Paul Churchland puts it very explicitly in his book Matter
and Consciousness, and defines dualism as the idea that, the essential nature of conscious intelligence
resides in something nonphysical (Churchland 1). Though dualism is a highly regarded and popular
view on the state of existence, its core arguments present an array of problems that detract from the
credibility of its ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Building off his established idea of the Cogito, Descartes continues to formulate an idea of how the
world operates. He arrives upon one of the most widely held metaphysical opinions, especially among
a majority of the world s religions, which is mind body dualism. Mind body dualism states that there
are two types of entities in the world; those which have extension and measurable qualities such as the
body and existing separately is the non physical mind. To support his claim of dualism, Descartes
presents a number of arguments that attempt to prove that the mind is separate from his body. Two of
his strongest points are from the conceivability argument and divisibility argument. Further
reinforcement of his claims comes from the idea of privileged first person access, where he concludes
that only an individual has full access to his own thoughts and state of mind. Descartes conceivability
argument follows as such (Descartes Meditation 6): 1) I can conceive of my existence without my
body. 2) If I can conceive of this possibility then it is logically possible. 3) If it is logically possible
that my mind exist independent of my body, then my body and mind are distinct things. While on the
surface this may appear to be a very sound argument, some flaws arise upon further inspection. One of
the main objections stems from his first premise, primarily from the word

Tibet Imperialism
Vincenzo Villeggiante
Tibet has had a very long history within and outside of China. For many years, Tibet was its own
kingdom, ruling over the plateau for which it is named with full sovereignty. However, Tibet
eventually came under the official rule of the Qing dynasty, the Manchu dynasty of China. Within
Qing, Tibet retained a very high level of local autonomy, having its own government and many
qualities similar to independent countries. In some ways, it didn t even identify as being part of Qing.
An example is the time when China was divided into multiple spheres of influence between European
powers. The British had enforced a trade law on China, but the Dalai Lama at the time refused to obey,
citing Tibet as not part of China. This continued ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

should be liberated from them by none other than the People s Liberation Army. Although Tibet
actually had a high resemblance to medieval European feudalism, the government never exploited the
citizens per se. When the PLA was at their doorstep, they were nowhere near prepared and were
conquered by the Chinese. They were eventually officially annexed into China, and the 14th Dalai
Lama was exiled to India. Under the PRC, the Tibetans endured many hardships that were brought
upon them. The so called Great Leap Forward led to widespread starvation, and the Great Proletarian
Cultural Revolution led the Red Army to destroy thousands of cultural artifacts and sites,

Affirmative Action Goals
There are various goals to affirmative action. It can depend on the group that has been oppressed or
discriminated in the past. President Kennedy introduced this to redress the discrimination that
constantly happened due to the civil rights movement. This sought to guarantee the same opportunities
that the minority groups were excluded from. This was a temporary measure; its purpose was to level
the playing field for any American citizen. With affirmative action s there were bound to be
backlashes, one example of the Bakke case in 1978. Just as it was intended to level the efforts of
minority s, it brought controversy to the supreme court due to the manner the affirmative action was
considered. There are many reasons to this being why the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
There have been many instances that the action has been taken or considered that it isn t fair to that
white worker. The reason being so is that conservatives say that it was or is a free ride on the
American system. Many whites and minorities support affirmative action but at the expense of white
worker will the white people accept? That s where controversy begins.one instance is the case of Allan
Bakke he at the time was much more classified to get in Davis school. The averages were 2.88 GPA
and average admissions test scores of 46 in verbal, 24 in math, 35 in science and 33 in general
knowledge. This case itself has bought a mixed result after the supreme court had decided a 5 4
decision. This brought a change in attitude on how to accept admissions from different races or
ethnics. Those goals may back fire to those who its intended to protect. The chances that created in the
education level back fired. In the Bakke case and Wygant vs Jackson Board of Education. The
opportunity give minorities to keep their job even if they had less seniority. They laid off those who
were thought it was necessary to be laid off. This provisions were sought to preserve those minority
teachers and in the process to hire more of the minority teachers while laying off those teachers who
had more seniority when necessary. The verdict of the Supreme court was that the layoff was
unconstitutional due to violating the Equal Protection

Femininity In Paradise Lost Analysis
Femininity is a topic that has seen controversial debate over the course of the last few centuries. John
Milton is not exempt from this, as he is a self proclaimed polemicist. Utilizing his texts as tools,
Milton relays important social, political, and economic messages of concern to the public. His political
nature has led to his imprisonment and threats to his life (Campbell 2009). Amidst his unpopularity
during the time, Milton persisted with his publication endeavours of controversial texts. Throughout
his life, Milton had three marriages, the first of which was very brief, and prompted his support
towards legalizing divorce (Campbell 2009). Two of these three marriages led to divorce which
implies that Milton s views are translated into his pivotal piece, Paradise Lost. As one of his most
important texts, seen as a brilliant piece of English literature, Paradise Lost certainly incorporates
grave social problems when it comes to the exploration of femininity. As embedding social concerns
in a text is normally seen in literature as a form of communicating these problems, it is no surprise that
the issue of femininity would turn up in Paradise Lost. Eve is portrayed differently in the text both
before the fall and after the fall. Milton s text is wholly religious in its content and meaning, however
Milton twists The Bible s interpretation to his own liking and portrays Eve differently than The Bible
does. In this essay, I will explore the gender imbalance presented in the text between Adam and Eve
and how it relates to disobedience and obedience of God s word. I will be analyzing Milton s
description of Eve before and after the fall compared to The Bible. In Paradise Lost by John Milton,
the portrayal of Eve s femininity is subject to critique, both before and after the fall of man, as Milton
places false claims on her actions and strays from the original view of Eve from The Bible.
From the beginning of the epic, the presence of women is severely lacking, and the women who are
included in the epic are presented as evil, or shown through an unflattering and chauvinistic lens
particularly when it comes to physical appearance. Eve being the second original creation by God is
the closest to a female character

Don Pedro Foils
The Dons Foil The depth of characters in a story build off of each other as they highlight each other
character s strengths. This is called character foils. In William Shakespeare s book Much Ado About
Nothing the characters Don Pedro, Claudio, Benedick, and Don John come back from the war to
return to Messina, Italy. Claudio falls in love with Hero, and with the help of Don Pedro, Claudio is
able to marry Hero. However, Don Pedro s brother, Don John, deceives everyone with his
mischievous lies to ruin the marriage. Throughout the book, there are many character foils, Don John
and Don Pedro are character foils of each other because of their social status, their reactions, and their
personalities. Although Don Pedro and Don John are brothers, ... Show more content on

As stated by Don John, I had rather be a canker in a hedge than a rose in this grace...will it serve for a
model to build mischief on? What is he for a fool that betroths himself to unquietness. (Shakespeare
14). Here it is shown that Don John feels very miserable around people, especially his brother. He
blames others for his mistreatment and prefers to avoid them. Don Pedro shows different feelings with
regard to people as he said, Thou wilt be like a lover presently and tire the hearer with a book of
words. If thou dost love fair Hero, cherish it and I will break with her and her father thou shalt have
her, (Shakespeare 11). Don Pedro shows that he cares for others and will support them in their ideas,
as he said here to help Claudio s love life. He doesn t show that he hate peoples as much as Don John,
but rather he gives advice and helps others with their problems. Don John is move negative character,
while Don Pedro is significantly more considerate for others. In conclusion, Don Pedro and Don John
are clear foils of each other. They show completely different traits as the story goes on. The way they
are treated in society, the way they react towards similar situations, and their differing personalities
show the clear depth between the characters. Shakespeare put these differences in the brothers, Don
Pedro and Don John to enhance the plot. Especially, to clarify and further show the character s traits.

Chicago Carl Sandburg Analysis
Carl Sandburg s Chicago is describing a mental image: a flourishing city. Chicago is a new residence
for citizens; it was only seventy years old when this poem was published. The poem gives us plenty of
imagery in it: the city being a young man, the city being a hard working man, and the city being a man
with many supporters. First, the city is a young man. With Chicago being a fresh city imperfection can
occur. A young man would not know how to properly punish women giving themselves to grown men
for money, would not know where to place murderers, and would not know how to provide a shelter
or food for homeless families. A man has to go through several obstacles before reaching his ultimate
goal of what he should ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
All the jobs listed in the poem, Hog Butcher, Tool Maker, Stacker of Wheat, Player of Railroads, and
Nations Freight Handler (lns. 1 3) require you to be virile workers. The man has to build, demolish, re
build, and plan. With this building came new jobs for more diligent men. Building the railroads come
into place and the city finally becomes the prosperous place every man had strived for it to be. No one
could make fun of the city because it would become even better than it was. Every day the city would
become bigger and better. Lastly, the city is a man with many supporters. The man was standing
strong and the residents were praising him. They were so happy to be part of something so special
with Chicago becoming successful. According to Sean Robisch, Chicago was piling job on job. They
loved how the man had created countless of jobs inside the new buildings. Bragging and laughing that
under his wrist is the pulse, and under his ribs the heart of the people, Laughing! (lns. 27 28) Without
the people living in the city and wanting it to improve, the city would have never thrived. It needed
everyone to play a role of supporting Chicago. In conclusion Carl Sandburg had a vision of making
Chicago a living man. He wanted to make readers think of the city has something more. Carl
Sandburg showed how Chicago was a young man, a hard working man, and a man with numerous

genetics lab permitted us to become masters of finding allele frequencies and establishing a better
knowledge on evolution in populations and how we can calculate if that occurred using the Hardy

the weight it holds is great. In life, growing up and finding yourself go hand in hand. When I think of
who I am today at 17, many flashbacks of moments come to mind; people, places and experiences. All
of which, have impacted not only my character but my personality as well.
As long as I can remember my mom has referred to me as a bundle of energy and the center of

Expressing that we are close would be an understatement, there is not a week I don t see my relatives.
Home in my family is not my house, but it is all of us being together. Due to the close knit relationship
within my family, privacy is not an option. Sitting down for supper is a combination of Intervention,
Modern Family, Dr. Phil, and Cops. Although this is not ideal for a girl my age, I m grateful for the
knowledge, support and unconditional love given. The laughs, tears shed and constructive criticism

A Good Story By Anne Mccaffery
Anne Mccaffery once said that A good story is a good story no matter who wrote it. Well, what is a
good story? More specifically, what is a good short story? A good short story should have intriguing
characters that provide the readers with a rollercoaster of emotions. To make the characters as
interesting as possible, there is also a need for descriptive language and specific sensory details. The
events in the story should engage the reader and lead them into another world, they should let readers
journey through the story with the characters one page at a time. This applies to all stories, but to
achieve this in a short story is harder, since it is shorter in length. Another thing that is important in a
short story is the mood. When ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

the protagonist. His loathing towards Mr. Wills and his pride and ignorance as a growing teenager is
what results in this decision. These complex feelings that are slowly shown to the reader makes this
story outstanding. The last and best risk the character takes gives us proof of his great nature, which is
demonstrated when the boy is talking to his father, Because I m afraid he ll shoot me, I said. My voice

Erich Remarque s Magnum Of All Quiet On The Western Front
The First World War, or the ill named War to End all Wars, was one that brought hell to Earth and
mankind. For the first time in history, industry had appeared to make killing efficient. In static
trenches, young men from around the world were killed by artillery kilometres away, poison gas, and
disease. All nations in the conflict experienced the creation of a Lost Generation; men who lost their
lives, limbs, or the ability to live a normal life. Paul Baumer, the young German protagonist of All

in which he loses all joy and hope. It is impossible for, in the conditions described, to be able to return

Persuasive Essay On Bus Safety
The school bus safety in this time has gotten better and worse, but the one thing you don t see in
school buses too often are the seatbelts. I believe that seat belts are needed in buses.
The first patented seat belt was created by American Edward J. Claghorn on February 10, 1885 in
order to keep tourists safe in taxis in New York City. This idea slowly became more popular in the
manufacturing of other vehicles. Competing drivers were the first to be required to wear a seat belt.
The real breakthrough with modern seat belts came in 1958 when Swedish engineer Nils Bohlin was
hired by Volvo and he designed the seat belts we know today through a three point seat belt that better
protects the driver and passenger in an accident. The three point design was created to help secure
both the upper and lower body in an accident.
Since 1966, vehicles in America were required to have seat belts in their cars. By 1975, most first
world countries had a seat belt requirement in their cars. Once the three point seat belt became more
common in cars, laws soon followed afterwards. By 1970, the world s first seat belt law was created in
Victoria, Australia, which required passengers to wear their seat belts at all times. In the U.S., seat belt
laws came around the time of the creation of The National Traffic and Motor Vehicle Safety Act of
1966.

Personal Narrative-Feminist Christian Girl Life

Advertising Vs Populism
Commercials airing on the television or radio, the billboards on the side of the freeways trying to grab
your attention to buy their product, even while scrolling through various social media platforms, we
go through our day to day lives with advertisements all around us. In Jack Solomon s essay, Masters
of Desire: The Culture of American Advertising, he states that the main purpose of all these
advertisements is to show us our unhappiness within the American dream. He goes on to describe the
differences in these advertisements which are known as the populist ads and the elite ads. Solomon s
description of the contradiction between populism and elitism very much affects the way advertising
and media is portrayed in American society. This contradiction brings forth the purpose of these
different advertisements, the audience in which it is intended for. For example, the elite
advertisements are presented to American society on beautiful glossy stock paper within magazines, or
in luxury car commercials where the extraordinary cars can be seen zooming along the coast or back
roads enjoying the drive up to the cabin. With all these flashy advertisements one can only assume that
an ...extraordinary car deserves an extraordinary advertisement, and that both [the] car and [the] ad are
aimed [towards an] extraordinary consumer... (Solomon 168). These elite advertisements start to

da Vinci states that, Leonardo da Vinci was a leading artist ad intellectual of the Italian Renaissance
who s known for his enduring works The Last Supper and Mona Lisa . Leonardo da Vinci was born in
Vinci, Italy on April 15, 1452. He was born out of wedlock being raised by his father Ser Piero along
with his stepmothers. Leonardo da Vinci was into the laws of science and nature, which played a
major role with him becoming a painter, sculptor, inventor, and draftsman. He influenced various
artists which made him the Leading Light of the Italian Renaissance. Leonardo da Vinci s style was
more of a right to left Italian style , according to legacy.mos.org. He wrote short handedly using a
technique in which he invented himself. He usually used mirror writing , starting from the right side of
the page and moving to the left . There are multiple assumptions that people have come across into
why Leonardo da Vinci used the left to right mirroring writing technique. Some say that, one reason
that he attempted to make it harder for people to read his notes was so that individuals could not steal
his ideas. Leonardo da Vinci (April 15, 1452 May 2, 1519) was different from most painters but

Argumentative Essay On Technology
Technology Research When people think about the word technology, most people think about
computers, cell phones, ipads, and the latest versions we are lucky enough to play with if we are
willing to pay the high price. Technology such as computers, have been around since the early 1940 s.
According to Spicer, the first computer made was called The Z3, built by German engineer, Konrad
Zuse. The Z3 computer was used for aerodynamic calculations, but was later destroyed in a bombing
in 1943. Technology has always been a benefit for physical education and special education classes.
Rosengard stated on the SPARK website, that Teaching physical education can be challenging for any
number of reasons, from a lack of equipment to keeping students engaged. He later then stated that To
meet these challenges, some educators are turning to technology to create more dynamic classes that
work for students with a wide range of fitness levels. Physical education classes have been lucky to be
able to use pedometers, heart rate monitors, stopwatches, etc to be able to physically see and record
how healthy their body is. When physical education classes started, teachers were lucky enough to
have a pencil, notepad, and a clock on the wall that they used for a stopwatch. Before technology
exploded, it was hard to record much of the information we are able to record and chart with
technology today. With nearly 100% of public schools and colleges having access to the internet,

The Eltanin Civilizations, The Civilizations Of The Middle...
Welcome to Crash Course Civilizations 101! Today we will discuss one of the most prominent
civilizations of the middle kingdom, the Eltanin civilization. Now before we jump in let s talk about
what exactly is a civilization. Textbook definition defines it as: the process by which a society or place
reaches an advanced stage of social development and organization, but a civilization is more than just
that. It is the culture a group of people possesses which is sustained over a period of time which
shapes history in one way or another. Most civilizations all stemmed from one life changing event, the
agricultural revolution. As the first agricultural revolution occurred from 10,000 BC to 2000 BC,
people started to settle and cultivate land by planting crops and raising animals. Although blossoming
from different areas around the world, they all had certain similar aspects such as developing unique
ways of supporting themselves and upholding their society. The start of this transition is known as the
middle kingdom. Today we will be discussing one of the most prominent civilizations of the middle
kingdom, the Eltanin civilization, who lasted what scientists like to call, A LONG TIME..Before we
dive into who they were and how they impacted history, let s talk about how they originated.
The Eltanin civilization originated from the foothills of the Andes Mountains in 2055 BC, where they
migrated northeast to modern day south Brazil and north Argentina, slowly transitioning

Essay On How To Play 3rb Base
Teach young kids to play 3rb base takes special care an instruction because it requires a different skill
set that the other infield positions. Even at the Little League level, the third base position requires
quick reflexes and a strong throwing arm. There are several aspects of the position that are important
to stress and ingrain in your young player from the first time they field the position in practice.
Positioning 2
Proper Ready Stance 3
A hard hit ball will reach the third baseman much quicker than any other position on the diamond so
being ready to field the position is a key to success. A third baseman s ready stance should be
balanced, perched on the balls of his feet with his glove open and as close to the ground as possible.
Your player needs to learn to keep his head up, lean his back forward with our arching it or shifting his
balance to the from, and have his throwing hand next to his glove ready to trap any ground ball that he
looks into his glove. During practice, it is important to remind your young player no to ... Show more

If you watch baseball played at a high level, you will see that the third baseman will take two or three
steps onto the infield grass to anticipate the bunt, and then another step or two forward as the pitch
approaches the plate. We advise that you to avoid this technique and play your young infielder even
with the third base bag in a bunt situation. Bunt situations are often less defined in Little League
games. While some coaches try to emulate the major league game, there will be many times will a
player will swing away or show bunt to draw the infielders in before swinging at a pitch. If a third
baseman is moving forward with the pitch in anticipation of a bunt, he may be put in harm s way
should a batter be swinging away. It is generally a good idea to err on the side of caution when it
comes to the safety of young players learning the

The Theme Of Imperialism In Darkness In The Jungle, By...
Darkness in the jungle is an evident motif presented in Conrad s story. Marlow s observations in his
expedition down the steam river consistently exploit the perversion of European colonialism and the
effects of imperialism on those who were enslaved. For example, the observation of a French warship
firing its cannons ruthlessly in the inland despite that there wasn t even a shed there, and she was
shelling the bush. It appears the French had one of their wars going on thereabouts (Conrad, 20). This
displays the madness of imperialist endeavors that existed to serve commercial interests. As Marlow
continues to witness the moral corruption of the Europeans and the conquest of the natives, the
perspective of the job he had so eagerly sought begins to break. His depiction of the natives that were
coerced into labor performed to dehumanize their inland is explained when they passed within six
inches, without a glance, with that complete, deathlike indifference of unhappy savages (Conrad, 23).
The farther Marlow and his crew sail down the steam river, the closer they reach their end, but the
more morally deceitful their mission becomes. Marlow reveals during their journey how they
penetrated deeper and deeper into the heart of darkness (Conrad, 57). Conrad is constantly using
darkness as a metaphor and as a realistic description of life under the dense jungle canopy. He
describes Africa as dark, in terms of the actual absence of light beneath the heavily canopied

Essay about Mentoring and Coaching
| Mentoring and Coaching | Essay | | | |
Identify and evaluate the key factors which influence the effectiveness and strength of a mentoring
relationship. |
This essay will start by defining mentoring, and giving a brief understanding of mentoring. This essay
will then go on to identify and evaluate a number of key factors that may influence the effectiveness of
a mentoring relationship. This essay will focus on the example of mentoring within schools and a
learning mentor to be more specific.
Firstly this essay will look at the difference between coaching and mentoring. Both coaching and
mentoring are processes that allow both individual and schools to achieve their full potential.
Coaching and mentoring share many ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
A Learning Mentor is a relatively new concept in the field of education and is used within schools to
support them in raising standards.
Specifically Learning mentors are placed in schools to raise pupils attainment, improve attendance and
to reduce permanent and fixed term exclusions. Many schools have successfully implemented the
Learning Mentor programme and assessed that the impact is evident on individuals and groups of
pupils (George, 2010)
Learning mentors tend to work on a one to one level or in small numbered groups, a learning mentor
must be a good listener, be able to encourage and motivate and act as a role model and encourage the
build up of a mutually respectful relationship (Hayward, 2001).
According to Hayward (2001), Learning Mentors have had an incredible impact on individual pupils
lives, in some cases transforming low achieving and unfocused students with minimal self esteem and
a lack of commitment into more confident pupils with higher grades, improved motivation and a sense
of direction. What all Learning Mentors have in common is their aim to break down barriers to
learning , unlocking education opportunities for school students and releasing hitherto untapped
potential (Hayward,

Essay on Respons to the case of contamination

ENGL 1004

The acceleration of globalization has raised issues culture conformity and diversity throughout the
world. These topics are argued drastically throughout the world. Apparently, issues relate to cultures
will not simply defined by right or wrong because each coins have two sides and every culture have
their own advantages and drawbacks. True, many people may claim that globalization has made this
world smaller and the distinctions between nations or cultures are disappearing. But personally, I hold
positive opinions about the cultural developments nowadays.
The unchangeable rule of the nature is survival of the fittest , which means, whatever species,
communities, nations or ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Apparently, the so called tradition, or convention, is not really easy or clear to define for the first
place. It seems like many innovation can become a tradition as time goes by. In this case, we shouldn t
deny the change or innovation in culture because we are really not sure if it is going to thrive in the
future.
Changes in cultures can sometimes help people to abandon old habits which are unfair, unhealthy etc.
In my opinion one of the major improvement is the shifted concept of gender equality. I believe
everyone is born equal, so I strongly support the idea that women deserve the right to choose what
they want and to abandon those conventional thinking. As is mentioned in the passage I believe that
women, like men, should have the vote, should be entitled to work outside their homes, should be
protected from the physical abuse of men, including their fathers, brothers and husbands. Thanks to
the improvements in culture, we can finally make some progresses on this issue. And as more and
more people have recognized the importance of women right problem, I believe the absolute equality
between men and women will sooner or later achieved. In the passage, the author also mentioned the
practice of foot binding in China , a rigid, insane and harmful tradition that persisted for a thousand
years and was largely eradicated within a generation. This reminds me of some other

The Savings Loans Crisis Of The 1980s
The Savings Loans crisis of the 1980s produced the biggest collapse of US financial institutions since
the Great Depression. It emerged due to volatile interest rate climate in late 1970s when depositors
withdrew from these S L institutions in large number and put them in money market funds where they
could get higher returns as these money market funds were not under the purview of Regulation Q
which restricted the interest these S Ls could offer to their depositors. 1) How did the crisis begin?
The business of the S L industry was based on the unstable principle of borrowing short and lending
long, so they accepted short term deposits ie their liabilities ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

This recapitalization bill was used as a bargaining chip against the Bank Board which had become
more rigorous in dealing with these insolvent thrifts. So, recapitalization was postponed and
eventually when it was done, it was too little and already too late. Too little because although they
allowed recapitalisation but along with that, they put a forbearance clause which precluded the
regulators from hastily closing these insolvent firms. And as we know it was this delayed closure of
these failed firms which actually inflated the S L crisis. So, the reluctance of congress to confront the
real size of the crisis and leniency towards the politically influential thrifts prevented decisive
measures from being taken even after the identification of the problem. The FSLIC recapitalisation
bill of 1987 had provision for just around $11 billion when the need was probably around $40 billion
at that time. Later in 1989, Financial Institutions Reform, Recovery, and Enforcement Act (FIRREA)
was enacted, in fits and starts, to complete the

The Eight Stages Of Sleep Cycles
Sleep consists of many different 90 minute cycles. These cycles are: alpha waves, NREM 1, NREM 2,
NREM 3, and REM sleep. The first stage of sleep is known as the alpha waves. Alpha waves are
relatively slow brain waves of a relaxed, awake state (Myers, 2017, p. 55). During the alpha waves
stage the person is not yet asleep, but is laying calmly with his or her eyes closed. Eventually the
person falls asleep, without being consciously aware of it, and moves into stage two of sleep. Stage
two, or NREM 1 sleep, is the time where people often have hallucinations or feel as if they are falling,
when in reality nothing is there and they are laying flat on the bed. This stage usually lasts about ten
minutes. During this stage the muscles are still active and the eyes may still open and close
occasionally. The breathing and heart rate of a person also slows when in NREM 1 sleep. Often, if a
person is awakened during this stage they may think that they have not fallen asleep at all. NREM 1
sleep accounts for about 10% of the total night of sleep. Stage three, or NREM 2 sleep, is the first
stage where muscle activity is decreased much more and the sleeping person becomes completely
unaware of their surroundings. During the night this stage occurs multiple times, more than ... Show

NREM 3 sleeps lasts around thirty minutes. During this stage the brain sends out large delta waves,
which are large, slow brain waves that are associated with deep sleep (Myers, 2017, p.55). It is during
this stage of sleep that the unconscious individual would be very hard to wake up. NREM 3 sleep
happens longest during the first half of the night and accounts for 15% of the total night of sleep. After
this stage the sleeping person will go backwards to NREM 2 sleep and ultimately stay here for half of

  • 2. Explain The Roles And Differences Between Consumer And... 1. Differentiate between mechanized, semi automated, automated, and information directed handling systems. The mechanized type handling system, is a combination through labor and equipment handling that utilizes the help from facilities processing, receiving, and shipping. Although a high percentage of overall cost is associated with this type of labor system. Also, with having to use a high amount of human labor workers, there is more use of forklifts and carousels. Where when using an automated system, there would be a cut in labor costs due to the use of automated equipment that can accomplish the job that man power is being used to accomplish. A lot of these costs can be pretty expensive up front, but in the long run they end up paying themselves off. When a mix of both are used though, it s called semi automated. Which can in turn help increase efficiency. But at the same time, using completely automated systems can help reduce in any forms of error in sorting processes. Within semi automated systems, there is the final form of information directed handling. This system uses information technology to help direct mechanized or any automated equipment. 2. Explain the roles and differences between consumer and industrial focused packaging. The roles and differences between consumer and industrial focused packaging are pretty up to point. The consumer packaging is primarily focused on product and marketing rather than focusing on getting the product to its destination ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Agatha Christie s Witness for the Prosecution Essay This paper will present a compare and contrast of the short story, Witness for the Prosecution to the screenplay of the same name written by Agatha Christie. The focus of the similarities and differences will be, a review of the characters and the story. In both versions there are both likable and unlikable characters that create a gripping tale where you find yourself hoping young Leonard Vole will beat the overwhelming odds stacked against him. Vole has been accused of murdering the late Mrs. Finch and in both he is represented by the defense attorney, Mr. Mayherne (changed later in the screenplay to Mayhew). However, in the screenplay Mayherne is the assistant of Sir Wilfrid Robarts, Q.C. Sir Robarts plays a foremost roll in ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Leonard, the accused, Mayherne the defense lawyer, Romaine the wife of the accused, the deceased Mrs. Finch and her maid Janet MacKenzie all play chief rolls in Christie s creation; however, it is Sir Robarts who is the most notable addition. While the characters, are mostly the same, with the addition of some others, their parts in the story differ as much as does the ending of both. Leonard again is the accused, and Mayherne his defense, but Mayherne acts as a bit of a detective in the story and does little in the way of sleuthing in the play. The old woman, Mrs. Finch, while saved from a speeding bus by Loenard in both accounts, is later reunited with her savior at a party in the short story and in the play she finds him at the theater. None of this really impacts either story because in both instances her only purpose for being in the story is so she can fulfill the role in the classic style of all who done its by being the one who gets bludgeoned to death. In both cases, Leonard s wife plays the evil woman out to do in her husband and lie about his whereabouts the night of the murder. Mayherne interviews Romaine at her home in the original, but in the play she meets Mayherne and Sir Robarts at their office early in the play. When Romaine learns she is Leonard s only alibi, she leads Mayherne and Robarts to believe that she intendeds to sabotage her husband s defense. What it is normal for a person from India is completely strange for a person from Europe, Colombia or Japan. To determine whether a person s behavior is abnormal psychologist use three basic criteria as follows: Deviation from statistical norms and social norms, maladaptive behavior, and personal distress. If the individual s behavior is considered abnormal , mental health professionals use the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders (DSM) as a methodical tool to aid in the diagnosis and treatment of the patient. Axis V allows the clinician to rate the client s overall level of functioning. It uses a rating scale called the Global Assessment of Functioning (GAF). They see what they dislike and like in others, and decide on whether to follow or judge. Clarence is a parvenu and arrogant man who is always on the lookout for other snobs , and tries to avoid them. Maria Edgeworth defines C. Hervey s character as a cliched young man whose intellect and wealth make rather overbearing. In the selection, C. Hervey s self absorbed character is developed through judgemental tone, third person limited point of view, and descriptive language. The narrator reveals a judgemental tone of Clarence Hervey through descriptions of his character. In the selection, she portrays a descriptive language when describing C. Hervey s character. One literary element that she uses is diction. She uses words such as chameleon character, imprudent , wild , and eccentric . By using these words, she is showing us a better picture of Hervey s personality. Chameleon is a very distinctive and highly specialized lizard. Imprudent is saying that he doesnt care about the consequences for his actions, which also goes with the word wild. Eccentric means that on top of everything else, he is also slightly strange. Another literary element that she uses is juxtaposition. Another example in line 53, Consequently he saw Belinda almost every day, and every day he saw her with increasing admiration of her beauty, and with increasing dread of being taken in to marry a niece of the catch match maker , the name by which Mrs. Stanhope was known amongst the men of his acquaintance. He washes up on a strange island with no means of escape and no possible way of contacting anyone to rescue him. He is trapped on the island. This is one way the setting of The Most Dangerous Game enhances the plot by adding suspense, action and mystifying image in the readers of the setting and adding an atmosphere of mystery. The first area that the setting enhances the plot is in the feeling of suspense in the story. If the story hadn t taken in a place with thick forest, a large swamp, and most of all being on an island, this story wouldn t have as interesting or suspenseful as it is. Since the setting is on an island with only Rainsford and Zaroff, this gives a feeling of being trapped. As there is no escape but if the story was on the mainland there would be a much easier means of escape. The forest also adds greatly to the plot, as without the forest Rainsford could not have hid as well as he did, set many traps to help even odds, and beat the Zaroff at his own game and ambush him in his own home. Without these key setting pieces, The Most Dangerous Game would have been a much duller story. 2 Potempa The mystery the setting gives to the story is one of the major plot components that keeps The Most Dangerous Game a constant page turner. Tax payer s money pays for their medical bills, the jails, and deportation back to where they came from. Our jobs and identities are being taken away as well. Coming to the United States is seen as an advantage to get ahead in life for most other countries. When they take advantage of breaking the system it effects the citizens more so than it does them. There are several people who came here and worked hard to get their citizenship the legal way. When it seems the government is letting them get away with breaking the law it attracts more people to come here illegally. Illegal immigration refers to the action of people ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... However, research indicates that the majority of the illegal immigrants go to their chosen destinations for the primarily economic and personal reasons, such as search for jobs opportunities and family reunification. It thus implies that by understanding the reasons as to why these people migrate illegally, the respective states may come up with executable measures to ensure that illegal immigration is no more. The best option for solving the issue of illegal immigration in an effective manner is by removing the incentives that draw the people into other states without following the recommended legal procedures (Hoffmeier, 2009). At first, the governments experiencing cases of illegal immigration need to enforce their laws of immigration and to crack down on those employers that hire illegal aliens. The governments should decide to make it a felony act for employing people without undergoing the proper channels of immigration and checking the applicant s background (Gaines Kappeler, 2011). The only way of making illegal immigrants leave the countries under which they reside illegally is by making life difficult for them to keep on leaving there. For example, the governments should opt to ignore granting driver s licenses, public schooling opportunities, food stamps and permanent employment to the people that reside in the states illegally. Choosing this option is essential because it is very hard to track and trace ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 11. What Is The Turning Point Of The Book Thief The Book Thief is a historical fiction novel by Markus Zusak. Based on its title, some readers might think the story is just about a thief who steals books, but really it s more emotional than stealing books, the story is about a young girl named Liesel Meminger who steals books when people in Germany were captivated by Adolf Hitler from book burning and other places. The interesting point is that the books are not something really important, in fact, they re just normal reading books, and the reason she steals the books is because of her desire for reading. Even Though Liesel is the protagonist of this novel, but in this essay, the main focus point is not her, but another guy who is also loved by the readers. The novel is narrated by Death, a guy who s getting tired and bored of his job. He wants a vacation, but sadly no one can replace him. He tries to find ways to give meaning to his job. He is fascinated by humans and colours of the world, and he is curious of how humans are capable of so much ugliness and so much beauty. Death is some way more human than a lot of people. After the Second World War the Soviet Union became paranoid with the West as well as the United States become paranoid of the Communist East, and after the Soviets had made their first nuclear bomb this created massive friction between the NATO alliance and the Soviet Union and the eastern bloc. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Building off his established idea of the Cogito, Descartes continues to formulate an idea of how the world operates. He arrives upon one of the most widely held metaphysical opinions, especially among a majority of the world s religions, which is mind body dualism. Mind body dualism states that there are two types of entities in the world; those which have extension and measurable qualities such as the body and existing separately is the non physical mind. To support his claim of dualism, Descartes presents a number of arguments that attempt to prove that the mind is separate from his body. Two of his strongest points are from the conceivability argument and divisibility argument. Further reinforcement of his claims comes from the idea of privileged first person access, where he concludes that only an individual has full access to his own thoughts and state of mind. Descartes conceivability argument follows as such (Descartes Meditation 6): 1) I can conceive of my existence without my body. 2) If I can conceive of this possibility then it is logically possible. 3) If it is logically possible that my mind exist independent of my body, then my body and mind are distinct things. While on the surface this may appear to be a very sound argument, some flaws arise upon further inspection. One of the main objections stems from his first premise, primarily from the word ... • 19. Tibet Imperialism Vincenzo Villeggiante Tibet has had a very long history within and outside of China. For many years, Tibet was its own kingdom, ruling over the plateau for which it is named with full sovereignty. However, Tibet eventually came under the official rule of the Qing dynasty, the Manchu dynasty of China. Within Qing, Tibet retained a very high level of local autonomy, having its own government and many qualities similar to independent countries. In some ways, it didn t even identify as being part of Qing. An example is the time when China was divided into multiple spheres of influence between European powers. The Republic of China never attained direct control over Tibet, and so there was a de facto independent Tibetan state. When the communist revolution in China occurred, and the former government fled to Taiwan, they would have to face a new threat: the People s Republic of China. The People s Republic claimed that the Tibetan government was exploiting the citizens as serfs, and that they should be liberated from them by none other than the People s Liberation Army. Although Tibet actually had a high resemblance to medieval European feudalism, the government never exploited the citizens per se. When the PLA was at their doorstep, they were nowhere near prepared and were conquered by the Chinese. They were eventually officially annexed into China, and the 14th Dalai Lama was exiled to India. President Kennedy introduced this to redress the discrimination that constantly happened due to the civil rights movement. With affirmative action s there were bound to be backlashes, one example of the Bakke case in 1978. • 22. Femininity In Paradise Lost Analysis Femininity is a topic that has seen controversial debate over the course of the last few centuries. John Milton is not exempt from this, as he is a self proclaimed polemicist. Utilizing his texts as tools, Milton relays important social, political, and economic messages of concern to the public. His political nature has led to his imprisonment and threats to his life (Campbell 2009). Amidst his unpopularity during the time, Milton persisted with his publication endeavours of controversial texts. Throughout his life, Milton had three marriages, the first of which was very brief, and prompted his support towards legalizing divorce (Campbell 2009). Two of these three marriages led to divorce which implies that Milton s views are translated into his pivotal piece, Paradise Lost. As one of his most important texts, seen as a brilliant piece of English literature, Paradise Lost certainly incorporates grave social problems when it comes to the exploration of femininity. As embedding social concerns in a text is normally seen in literature as a form of communicating these problems, it is no surprise that the issue of femininity would turn up in Paradise Lost. Eve is portrayed differently in the text both before the fall and after the fall. Milton s text is wholly religious in its content and meaning, however Milton twists The Bible s interpretation to his own liking and portrays Eve differently than The Bible does. In this essay, I will explore the gender imbalance presented in the text between Adam and Eve and how it relates to disobedience and obedience of God s word. I will be analyzing Milton s description of Eve before and after the fall compared to The Bible. In Paradise Lost by John Milton, the portrayal of Eve s femininity is subject to critique, both before and after the fall of man, as Milton places false claims on her actions and strays from the original view of Eve from The Bible. From the beginning of the epic, the presence of women is severely lacking, and the women who are included in the epic are presented as evil, or shown through an unflattering and chauvinistic lens particularly when it comes to physical appearance. Eve being the second original creation by God is the closest to a female character ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Don Pedro shows different feelings with regard to people as he said, Thou wilt be like a lover presently and tire the hearer with a book of words. Chicago is a new residence for citizens; it was only seventy years old when this poem was published. The poem gives us plenty of imagery in it: the city being a young man, the city being a hard working man, and the city being a man with many supporters. First, the city is a young man. With Chicago being a fresh city imperfection can occur. The man was standing strong and the residents were praising him. They were so happy to be part of something so special with Chicago becoming successful. A good short story should have intriguing characters that provide the readers with a rollercoaster of emotions. To make the characters as interesting as possible, there is also a need for descriptive language and specific sensory details. The events in the story should engage the reader and lead them into another world, they should let readers journey through the story with the characters one page at a time. • 32. Persuasive Essay On Bus Safety The school bus safety in this time has gotten better and worse, but the one thing you don t see in school buses too often are the seatbelts. I believe that seat belts are needed in buses. The first patented seat belt was created by American Edward J. Claghorn on February 10, 1885 in order to keep tourists safe in taxis in New York City. This idea slowly became more popular in the manufacturing of other vehicles. Competing drivers were the first to be required to wear a seat belt. The real breakthrough with modern seat belts came in 1958 when Swedish engineer Nils Bohlin was hired by Volvo and he designed the seat belts we know today through a three point seat belt that better protects the driver and passenger in an accident. The three point design was created to help secure both the upper and lower body in an accident. Since 1966, vehicles in America were required to have seat belts in their cars. By 1975, most first world countries had a seat belt requirement in their cars. Once the three point seat belt became more common in cars, laws soon followed afterwards. By 1970, the world s first seat belt law was created in Victoria, Australia, which required passengers to wear their seat belts at all times. In the U.S., seat belt laws came around the time of the creation of The National Traffic and Motor Vehicle Safety Act of 1966. The Z3 computer was used for aerodynamic calculations, but was later destroyed in a bombing in 1943. Technology has always been a benefit for physical education and special education classes. Rosengard stated on the SPARK website, that Teaching physical education can be challenging for any number of reasons, from a lack of equipment to keeping students engaged. He later then stated that To meet these challenges, some educators are turning to technology to create more dynamic classes that work for students with a wide range of fitness levels. Physical education classes have been lucky to be able to use pedometers, heart rate monitors, stopwatches, etc to be able to physically see and record how healthy their body is. When physical education classes started, teachers were lucky enough to have a pencil, notepad, and a clock on the wall that they used for a stopwatch. Before technology exploded, it was hard to record much of the information we are able to record and chart with technology today. With nearly 100% of public schools and colleges having access to the internet, many classes ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Even at the Little League level, the third base position requires quick reflexes and a strong throwing arm. There are several aspects of the position that are important to stress and ingrain in your young player from the first time they field the position in practice. Positioning 2 Proper Ready Stance 3 A hard hit ball will reach the third baseman much quicker than any other position on the diamond so being ready to field the position is a key to success. A third baseman s ready stance should be balanced, perched on the balls of his feet with his glove open and as close to the ground as possible. Your player needs to learn to keep his head up, lean his back forward with our arching it or shifting his balance to the from, and have his throwing hand next to his glove ready to trap any ground ball that he looks into his glove. During practice, it is important to remind your young player no to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... If you watch baseball played at a high level, you will see that the third baseman will take two or three steps onto the infield grass to anticipate the bunt, and then another step or two forward as the pitch approaches the plate. We advise that you to avoid this technique and play your young infielder even with the third base bag in a bunt situation. Bunt situations are often less defined in Little League games. While some coaches try to emulate the major league game, there will be many times will a player will swing away or show bunt to draw the infielders in before swinging at a pitch. If a third baseman is moving forward with the pitch in anticipation of a bunt, he may be put in harm s way should a batter be swinging away. It is generally a good idea to err on the side of caution when it comes to the safety of young players learning the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 41. The Theme Of Imperialism In Darkness In The Jungle, By... Darkness in the jungle is an evident motif presented in Conrad s story. Marlow s observations in his expedition down the steam river consistently exploit the perversion of European colonialism and the effects of imperialism on those who were enslaved. For example, the observation of a French warship firing its cannons ruthlessly in the inland despite that there wasn t even a shed there, and she was shelling the bush. It appears the French had one of their wars going on thereabouts (Conrad, 20). This displays the madness of imperialist endeavors that existed to serve commercial interests. As Marlow continues to witness the moral corruption of the Europeans and the conquest of the natives, the perspective of the job he had so eagerly sought begins to break. His depiction of the natives that were coerced into labor performed to dehumanize their inland is explained when they passed within six inches, without a glance, with that complete, deathlike indifference of unhappy savages (Conrad, 23). The farther Marlow and his crew sail down the steam river, the closer they reach their end, but the more morally deceitful their mission becomes. Marlow reveals during their journey how they penetrated deeper and deeper into the heart of darkness (Conrad, 57). Conrad is constantly using darkness as a metaphor and as a realistic description of life under the dense jungle canopy. He describes Africa as dark, in terms of the actual absence of light beneath the heavily canopied ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

A Learning Mentor is a relatively new concept in the field of education and is used within schools to support them in raising standards. Specifically Learning mentors are placed in schools to raise pupils attainment, improve attendance and to reduce permanent and fixed term exclusions. Many schools have successfully implemented the Learning Mentor programme and assessed that the impact is evident on individuals and groups of pupils (George, 2010) Learning mentors tend to work on a one to one level or in small numbered groups, a learning mentor must be a good listener, be able to encourage and motivate and act as a role model and encourage the build up of a mutually respectful relationship (Hayward, 2001). According to Hayward (2001), Learning Mentors have had an incredible impact on individual pupils lives, in some cases transforming low achieving and unfocused students with minimal self esteem and a lack of commitment into more confident pupils with higher grades, improved motivation and a sense of direction. What all Learning Mentors have in common is their aim to break down barriers to learning , unlocking education opportunities for school students and releasing hitherto untapped potential (Hayward, ... These topics are argued drastically throughout the world. Apparently, issues relate to cultures will not simply defined by right or wrong because each coins have two sides and every culture have their own advantages and drawbacks. True, many people may claim that globalization has made this world smaller and the distinctions between nations or cultures are disappearing. Apparently, the so called tradition, or convention, is not really easy or clear to define for the first place. It seems like many innovation can become a tradition as time goes by. In this case, we shouldn t deny the change or innovation in culture because we are really not sure if it is going to thrive in the future. Changes in cultures can sometimes help people to abandon old habits which are unfair, unhealthy etc. In my opinion one of the major improvement is the shifted concept of gender equality. I believe everyone is born equal, so I strongly support the idea that women deserve the right to choose what they want and to abandon those conventional thinking. As is mentioned in the passage I believe that women, like men, should have the vote, should be entitled to work outside their homes, should be protected from the physical abuse of men, including their fathers, brothers and husbands. Thanks to the improvements in culture, we can finally make some progresses on this issue. And as more and more people have recognized the importance of women right problem, I believe the absolute equality between men and women will sooner or later achieved. In the passage, the author also mentioned the practice of foot binding in China , a rigid, insane and harmful tradition that persisted for a thousand years and was largely eradicated within a generation. • 44. The Savings Loans Crisis Of The 1980s The Savings Loans crisis of the 1980s produced the biggest collapse of US financial institutions since the Great Depression. It emerged due to volatile interest rate climate in late 1970s when depositors withdrew from these S L institutions in large number and put them in money market funds where they could get higher returns as these money market funds were not under the purview of Regulation Q which restricted the interest these S Ls could offer to their depositors. 1) How did the crisis begin? The business of the S L industry was based on the unstable principle of borrowing short and lending long, so they accepted short term deposits ie their liabilities ... So, recapitalization was postponed and eventually when it was done, it was too little and already too late. Too little because although they allowed recapitalisation but along with that, they put a forbearance clause which precluded the regulators from hastily closing these insolvent firms. And as we know it was this delayed closure of these failed firms which actually inflated the S L crisis. So, the reluctance of congress to confront the real size of the crisis and leniency towards the politically influential thrifts prevented decisive measures from being taken even after the identification of the problem. The FSLIC recapitalisation bill of 1987 had provision for just around $11 billion when the need was probably around $40 billion at that time. Later in 1989, Financial Institutions Reform, Recovery, and Enforcement Act (FIRREA) was enacted, in fits and starts, to complete the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 45. The Eight Stages Of Sleep Cycles Sleep consists of many different 90 minute cycles. These cycles are: alpha waves, NREM 1, NREM 2, NREM 3, and REM sleep. The first stage of sleep is known as the alpha waves. Alpha waves are relatively slow brain waves of a relaxed, awake state (Myers, 2017, p. 55). During the alpha waves stage the person is not yet asleep, but is laying calmly with his or her eyes closed. Eventually the person falls asleep, without being consciously aware of it, and moves into stage two of sleep. Stage two, or NREM 1 sleep, is the time where people often have hallucinations or feel as if they are falling, when in reality nothing is there and they are laying flat on the bed. This stage usually lasts about ten minutes. During this stage the muscles are still active and the eyes may still open and close occasionally. The breathing and heart rate of a person also slows when in NREM 1 sleep. Often, if a person is awakened during this stage they may think that they have not fallen asleep at all. NREM 1 sleep accounts for about 10% of the total night of sleep. Stage three, or NREM 2 sleep, is the first stage where muscle activity is decreased much more and the sleeping person becomes completely unaware of their surroundings. During the night this stage occurs multiple times, more than ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... NREM 3 sleeps lasts around thirty minutes.
