Compare And Contrast African Americans And Black...

The American Colonization Society (ACS), also known as the American Society for Colonizing the
Free People of Color in the United States, was a national organization dedicated to promoting the the
act of a slave owner freeing his or her slaves. The ACS was created to gradually abolish slavery in the
United States, and send emancipated or free slaves to Africa. The US established colonies on the West
African coasts to send African Americans to. White abolitionists believed that this program would
help African Americans become free. However, African Americans responded with concerns that they
would not be able to enjoy the same freedom and rights as in the US. It was an unfair advance for

White abolitionists focused on slavery, the freedom of African American slaves, and gaining economic
profit or to spread religion. Black abolitionists pushed anti slavery activities which included pushing
for racial equality and justice. Black abolitionists focused on what happened to African American s
after slavery and help established networks for former slaves to help lift them up. According to an
interview found on pbs.org; David Blight, a Professor of the History and Black Studies at Amherst
College states: Many white abolitionists had certain expectations of what black abolitionists were to
provide or to perform within this movement. Very often, black abolitionists had different, very
different, perceptions of what their role ought to be. So, there was a struggle among white and black
abolitionists about just what the proper role of a black abolitionist was in this movement. The tone of
this quote is questionable. Was Blight implying that black abolitionists had to refrain from deviating
out of their roles? It is very clear that although the abolitionists were fighting to end slavery, the tone
of racism was still present and causing a rift between the black and white

The Pros And Cons Of Social Stereotypes
Stereotype threat is a social phenomenon where a member of a negatively stereotyped group performs
poorly when reminded of that stereotype (Beilock, Jellison, Rydell, McConnell, Carr, 2006). For
example, previous studies have shown that when primed with a negative stereotype African Americans
perform worse on intellectual tasks (Steele, Aronson, 1995), and women perform worse at math
(Spencer, Steele, Quinn, 1999). The main component of stereotype threat is that it impairs working
memory (Schmader, Forbes, Johns, 2008). Working memory is a short term memory system that is
involved in the control, regulation, and active maintenance of a limited amount of information with
immediate relevance to the task at hand (Miyake Shah, 1999). So essentially as one works on a task,
working memory keeps all the important information ready for quick access, which is crucial for
performance in almost every domain. Previous studies have shown that working memory capacity is a
direct mediator between stereotype threat and impaired mental performance (Schmader, Johns, 2003).
At a cognitive level, working memory is a limited capacity resource that can become depleted if it is
attending to multiple domains. If depleted there is less capacity available to control a task s execution
and information processing demands (Schmader, Johns, 2003). Many different studies have contested
how it is that stereotype threat impairs performance. For example, in Steele and Aronson s

Explain How Canada Helps Third World Countries
Canada helps many third world countries because Canadians feel sympathy for the people in third
world countries, it helps the global economy, and it builds a good reputation and international
relationship. Many Canadians will feel sympathy in the problems and environment people in the third
world countries are living compared to the life that Canadians themselves have. Therefore Canadians
will donate, make charity and urge the Canadian government to help the third world countries. Canada
helps the global development and economy by giving aid to third world countries. Canada in return
are helping themselves because if the global economy is good and every country have a stable
economy, this means that they will be able to spend more money on

NCAA Recruiting Analysis
College athletics have become huge business. Therefore, coaches are under pressure to sign the best
recruits. Jim Harbaugh went so far as having a sleepover at a recruit s house (Schwartz, 2016).
According to Remillard (2014), Texas A M used a helicopter in their recruiting efforts (p. 7). These
two examples are within the NCAA recruiting rules. However, many programs violate the rules every
year to gain an advantage in recruiting. Unfortunately, many programs, like Louisville, use sex or
money to entice athletes to come to their program (ESPN, 2015).
Some programs are even using their uniforms as a recruiting tool (Crabtree, 2013). Our post literate
culture is becoming more focused on images and quick messages. Recruiters must continue to evolve
their recruiting techniques in order to convince the best recruits to come to their program. In a
competitive field, coaches will use every advantage they can to land the top recruits. ... Show more

According to Remillard (2014) academics followed only coaches in importance to the recruit (p. 20).
According to an ESPN pole, academics ranked as the most important factor for recruits (Crabtree,

the association s belief in student athletes as students first is a foundational principle ( Frequently ,
2015). Although, the NCAA s claim may be empty, as collegiate coaches, it is important to prioritize
academics even if no one else is doing it. It is the responsibility of the athletic director and coaching
staff to stress

Dreams And Dreams
The humankind throughout history has tried to learn and figure out the meaning of dreaming. The
interpretations and true meanings of dreams has expanded and has varied over centuries and cultures.
Many of the earlier studies were based on culture s and the interpretation of dreams, but also used as a
form of prophecy, inspiration, and guidance. Many people still believe this such, people today beliefs
and theories have opened up to a more vast interpretation, they are made up of; dreams are rare brain
activity, dreams allow people to reflect on themselves, or that dreams are too massive to be correctly
interpret. Although, not a single theory has been proven to this day, science as of why dreams occur is
still a mystery. However, the true exact meaning of dreaming hasn t been proven, there has been new
ideas, different methods to advances to both a psychological, science understanding of when it began
and how it functions. What some of the studies have concluded is that dreams are a certain phase of
the brain s activities, that the mind experiences while you are sleep; sounds, pictures, ideas, and
feelings. Both psychologists and scientist have theorized that dreaming is made up of the person s
mind, that ranges from being rare, normal, scary, and ordinary. Having the power to awaken only to
wonder what the dream you had last night was about, or even try to find the cause of a dream, but not
knowing the truth about it can leave a lot of mystery behind. We may even

Global Warming Issues
In late 2012, the Wall Street Journal published an article written and supported by sixteen scientists
called, No Need to Panic About Global Warming. The article s main argument claimed mainstream
climate experts were wrong about the effect greater carbon dioxide levels had on the environment as
well as the threat global warming posed to society. The contrarian scientists attempted to refute
mainstream scientific findings that carbon dioxide levels were rising rapidly throughout the past
decade and that carbon dioxide itself was a pollutant. The dissenting scientists claimed that influxes of
CO2 throughout the earth s atmosphere over time has actually been beneficial to the environment and
that global warming is not the impending threat ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Adversaries even likened the op ed researchers climate science equivalency to that of dentists
practicing cardiology. (Trenberth) Mainstream scientists found the contrarian authors lack of
credibility was most prominently portrayed through their argument which completely misrepresented
the majority consensus on climate change research and the overall field of climate science. In the op
ed, the climate science field was portrayed as faction of notable scientists with varying views on the
extent and risk of global warming but that contrarian opinions, that wouldn t conform to the alarmist
majority, were silenced by scientists who hyperbolized global warming s threats to society.
Mainstream climate scientists saw this as a crude misrepresentation of their field and hit back with the
fact that at the time, among climate experts, there was a general consensus of over 97% that global
warming was anthropogenic as well as an imminent threat to human and environmental wellness.
(Trenberth) They went on to claim that the journal s severe distortion of the field of climate research
was misinforming the public by publicizing, and at times even praising outlandish accusations by
minority dissenting scientists. Many researchers and public officials were angered by the paper s
misrepresentations arguing the Wall Street Journal was simply fueling

Rats Essay
Rats are various medium sized rodents. True rats are members of the genus Rattus, the most important
of which to humans are the black rat, Rattus rattus, and the brown rat, R. norvegicus. Many members
of other rodent genera and families are also called rats and share many characteristics with true rats. A
rat has an average life span of 2 3 years[1].
Rats are distinguished from mice by their size; rats generally have bodies longer than 12 cm (5 in).

Order vs. Freedom in Political Systems
Order vs. Freedom in Political Systems Order and freedom are both necessary and beneficial towards
the citizens and society with the aim to promote harmony, yet they both contradict each other. This
contradiction has existed throughout many years and it is still hard to decide which one is ideal for the
society. This essay will discuss and analyze if order or freedom is more important for political
systems. Many believe that order should be applied by the government; though it should be allowed to
a certain limit and should not interfere in a citizen s personal life. However others believe that full
freedom should be given to individuals and that nothing should be enforced as it brings along many
differences between citizens. This ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Furthermore, it is also been questioned that how can educated men criticize and undervalue those who
have been a victim of poverty or harsh upbringing which has affected their education when it is truly
not their fault. Furthermore critics have argued on how it can be determined that kings and
philosophers are not ruling in their self interest and in which way their power should be tested.
Furthermore, another aspect which has been greatly supported and criticized by many great
philosophers is freedom. Freedom is where there is no power or control over the citizen s decisions.
Every citizen is entitled to free speech and their right to interfere in political decision making.
Additionally, the Athenian democracy ideology supports the freedom theory. The main aim of this
democratic thinking was to give the power to the majority rather than the minority as this would take
away the inequalities and corruption within society. Therefore the Athenian democracy was ruled by
people hence it believes in self governing in which the dedication of citizens in participating and
contributing in political decision making is extremely fundamental. The Athenian democracy also has
strong views in promoting equality, it believes that every citizen should be treated with equality before
the law and should be entitled to vote freely. However, there are many advantages and disadvantages
regarding this ideology. The main advantages of this democratic

Lithium Ion Batteries For Electric Vehicle Batteries Essay
Introduction
A lithium ion (Li ion) battery is a type of rechargeable battery which uses a lithium ion that moves
from a positive electrode (cathode) to a negative electrode (anode) during charging and vice versa
during discharge. Lithium ion batteries are less environmentally damaging than batteries containing
heavy metals such as cadmium and mercury, but recycling them is still far preferable to incinerating
them or sending them to landfill. Lithium ion batteries are made up of one or more generating
compartments called cells. Each cell is composed of three components: an anode, a cathode, and a
chemical called an electrolyte in between them.
Lithium ion batteries are becoming more common in portable electronic devices due to their high
energy density, lack of memory effect, and high charge and discharge rate capabilities. Research and
development work is ongoing to improve safety and increase capacity, charge/discharge rate, and
lifetime. Demand for electric vehicle batteries is currently small, but it is expected to grow very
quickly. China, Japan, South Korea, France, and the United States are the major lithium ion battery
manufacturers for hybrid and electric vehicle applications.
A lot of information from different sources was gathered with the purpose of comparing different Li
ion batteries mechanisms, cathode and anode materials, structure and fabrication procedures, and their
respective advantages and disadvantages.

German Response To D-Day Research Paper
The invasion of northern France in 1944 was the most significant victory of the Western Allies in the
Second World War. The bulk of the German Army engaged in Russia, and the Allied bomber offensive
to some Soviet demands for immediate action in the west, many British senior commanders hoped that
a confrontation in France could be delayed until Allied material supremacy was overwhelming, or
even avoided altogether in the event of a sudden German collapse. Lessons would be learned too from
amphibious assaults in Sicily and Italy, where Allied forces put in dull performances against enemy
troops of lower quality than might be expected in France. Many were attracted to the idea of
expanding the Allied thrust into the soft underbelly of Europe, perhaps even opening a new theatre of
operations in the Balkans. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

The Success And Failure Of The New France Trade
It s not what you know, but who you know. The phrase has been amongst the business community for
years. Certainly long enough for many to question the requirement of any business practicality to
achieve success. Models of mediocrity failing up the corporate ranks because of their personal
connections can be found in almost any professional environment. So much so it begs the question of
how far back the practice exists. J.F. Bosher s conclusions on the reasoning of the success and failure
in the New France trade during the seventeenth and eighteenth centuries are inconclusive at best. Yet,
the professor of history at the University of Toronto to his best summation is that the right religious
association or social stature could have undoubtedly influenced prosperity. However, in Bosher s study
of fifty eight bankruptcy cases between 1660 1760, he is quick to argue that there is no definitive
evidence that point to one direct cause for financial ruin. Rather multiple conditions including chance
that contributed to the fates of trade families. These complexities included war, the government,
volatile economic trends, and religious/social structure (Bosher 458). Ultimately, many merchants
turned to partnership through marriage or religion as means of establishing a trade network in an
attempt to minimize those risks. Dr. Catherine Briggs of the University of Waterloo would agree, and
point out that the fur trade was not a profitable one for many, nor was it a

How Does Suicide Affect Teens
Suicide is a major problem in today s society. It is an even bigger problem for teenagers because
suicide is the third leading cause of death for 15 to 24 year olds (Teen Suicide Statistics). The Show 13
Reasons Why that premiered on Netflix showcases this important issue. This show will have a major
impact because it is reaching such a wide audience and has become so popular among teens. Although
the show 13 Reasons Why is said to be damaging to teens because it s very graphic, it is actually
beneficial to teenagers because it raises awareness about bullying and will prevent suicide.
This popular show 13 Reasons Why, is very influential and can really pass along advice to the

The Use Of Electroencephalographic ( Eeg ) Signals For...
Introduction
This thesis is devoted to an investigation of the use of electroencephalographic (EEG) signals for
biometric person recognition. The traditional ways of access control include using token based
identification systems, such as a driver s license or passport, and knowledge based identification
systems, such as a password or personal identification number [1]. Biometric person recognition,
however, relies on human physiological and/or behavioural characteristics for establishing identity. A
range of such distinctive, measurable characteristics can be used have been successfully used to
recognize individuals. Biometric modalities/identifiers are considered to be unique to individuals: they
may be more reliable in verifying identity than token and knowledge based methods [1].
One limitation of the specially designed database is the number of subjects included for data capture
using the low cost sensor system. The self collected database contains 27 subjects with recordings
from multiple sessions made on different days, which may still not be large enough to justify the
statistical significance of the obtained results. Furthermore, due to the quality of the data from the low
cost sensor, it can be predicted that with the number of subjects further increasing, the recognition
performance of the EEG biometric system tends to reduce.
Electroencephalography (EEG) is a recording of the electrical activities of the brain along the scalp,
which is generally considered

Research Paper On Hades Underworld
Hades, Ruler of the Underworld Hades, meaning the unseen , was the god of the Underworld. He was
the son of Cronus and Rhea and had three sisters, Hera, Demeter, and Hestia, along with two brothers,
Zeus and Posedion. This was the family that made up the six original Olympian gods. The
Titanomachy was a ten year divine war between Titans and the Olympians. This war was fought to
determine which generation of gods would have rule over the universe. The war concluded with the
victory of the Olympians, subsequently the three brothers cast lost for the kingdoms. Posiedon took
over the seas, Zeus took over the sky, and Hades took over the infernal lands of the Underworld. The
Underworld, the realm in which the souls of the dead come to rest, is described as a very daunting
place. Many myths state that Hades was disappointed with his turnout but had no other choice than to
become ruler of the land. Hades is depicted as a very stern and cold ruler, but he was more or less
thought of as passive rather than evil. His primary focus was to ensure that no soul ever left the
Underworld. Alongside him was his wife and queen, Persephone, who he acquired at the behest of
Zeus by abducting her. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Pursuing A Career As A Soccer Player
Everybody has asked, what is the most interesting job? What do you want to study? In these days,
people are looking for a good job that can improve his/her future, but there some types of jobs that are
not secure or do not offer too many opportunities. Therefore, people need to be careful about what
they want to study. There are three types of jobs I would like to work: Soccer coach, business
administration, and doctor.
One of the three jobs I would like to work is soccer coach. I chose this because I love soccer. To be
honest, since I was a child, I have wanted to be a soccer player. I had that dream on my mind, but
unfortunately, I had a serious injury in my knee and I could not play anymore. The reason why I want
to be a soccer coach is because I want to be involved in the soccer world, even if I have an injury in
my knee. I want to create new professional soccer players. I just want to teach people who love soccer
how to play. Soccer is the most popular sport around the world, especially in Latin America and
Europe and it is one of the few sports in which you can use your whole body: feet, arms, hands, chest,
shoulders, and even your back. To be a soccer coach you need to be a boss, a father, you have to know
hot treat your team and give them good advice, you need to have leadership, and you have to have
sufficient knowledge about the sport. Before being a coach, you have to do a special course. After that

Nursing Journal, December 2009 Issue
Nurse Vincent M. Vacca, Jr. aptly described in this issue of the Nursing Journal the significance of
early detection and health management of people who are or are maybe suffering from Pulmonary
Arterial Hypertension. He described PAH as a condition wherein a patient is having a mean
pulmonary arterial (PA) pressure of greater than 25 mm ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
A lung or heart transplant is then recommended for patients whose condition doesn t improve or
worsens. The survival rate according to nurse Vacca for patients receiving lung transplant is 74% after
1 year and 45% after 5 years of receiving the new lung. However, he said the wait time for donor lung
can take up to 3 years but sadly patients with PAH can not wait that long. Therefore nurse Vacca
emphasized the importance of educating families and patients with PAH the proper management of
this condition in order for patients to live longer and have a better quality of life. Some of the
examples he mentioned in the proper management of this condition includes proper administration of
medication including knowing its side effects, appropriate planning of activities and rest, reducing
fluid retention by following a low sodium diet, daily weight monitoring and being alert in recognizing
peripheral edema, the use of supplemental oxygen if needed, and knowing when to contact a health
care provider upon onset of symptoms. Most importantly, encourage patients to discuss end of life
issues with their family and/or social services and support

Christianity In Today s Christian Bible
Finally, Christianity is the most prominent religion practiced throughout the world with over 2 billion
followers. Christianity is based upon the teachings of the said son of God Jesus of Nazareth and his
disciples. It is originally taught in Aramaic and later Greek, and its teachings can be found in the
modern Christian Bible. Today s Christian Bible is divided in two parts, the Old Testament, written
accounts and teachings before the birth of Jesus, which is what Judaism uses, and then the New
Testament, which are stories and teachings that involve Jesus and his disciples. The Christian faith

are closing for a long time. The writer says that schools are canceled for safety reasons. However,
some people are worried because there is many schools are canceled during snow days. Some school
districts start to use the pilot program as a solution. The pilot program is an online schooling that
allowed the learners to do schoolwork from home during snow days. Students could surf the Internet

Students waste plenty amount of time attempting to learn a topic if they are not provided with
guidance about what is truly important about the topic. Students come into the self study with
misconceptions; they will play the new information to fit into their current mental model, causing
negative training. They will also sometimes misinterpret new concepts as meaning something other
than the right meaning. Moreover, the students may not understand the topic well enough to determine
what is necessary and what is good to know. Self study has many issues because without guidance;
maybe students could not make the best way to learn. The instructor part in education is very
important which cannot be ignored. The instructor will introduce the topic, setting a good foundation
for which information that might be confusing, and clearly establishing what is important and what is
not. For example, when I was in the high school I had a question when I was studying for my exam.
Suddenly the weather changed and became dusty so the school was canceled. Therefore, I had to try to
figure out the answer by myself, but I missed it up. This was because the question that I did not

The Case For Christ By Lee Strobel
Introduction
Award winning journalist, Lee Strobel wrote The Case for Christ to retrace and expand his journey
toward becoming a Christian. Strobel once declared atheist, and now Christian, shares how he began
to look upon the Bible and God. As an atheist, Strobel lived the life of selfishness and only worried to
please himself. When his wife began to go to church he wasn t very pleased until after he saw the
positive and attractive change in her. This is the start of his curiosity and investigation about
Christianity. To relate with his wife he decided to study about this and attend church services with her.
Strobel interviewed thirteen leading scholars who defended their views concerning the historical
reliability of the New Testament. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
126). Next, Strobel writes about his interview with Bruce Metzger concerning the reliability of the text
in the New Testament. Since the original books of the New Testament was lost, how do we know that
the copied text is identical to the memo? According to Metzger, the more often you have copies that
agree with each other, especially if they emerge from different geographical areas, the more you can
cross check them to figure out what the original document was like (p. 76). Also, Strobel asked
Metzger why some books weren t included in the New Testament and his response was that the church
did want to portray such pictures of Jesus in the canon, that the church only wanted the New
Testament to contain only the best historical stories of Jesus. The next scholar interviewed was Edwin
Yamauchi. He was asked about additional biblical proof that confirms the New Testament but he was
not very convincing. The question for Strobel s fourth interview was whether archeology increased or
decreased the New Testaments reliability. Three New Testament statements are entirely unsupported
by archaeology. First, the three hours of worldwide darkness during the crucifixion (Mark 15:33).
Second, the resurrection of the saints, and their following appearance to many in Jerusalem (Matthew
27:52 53). Finally third, Jesus burial in the tomb.

Introducing: Moi (Me)!
My candle burns at both ends
It will not last the night;
But ah, my foes, and oh, my friends
It gives a lovely light.
My life is a journey of discovery, traveled in repeating cycles of dreams and mindfulness, joy and
sadness, hope and despair it has been a series of stories, some bright and some dark, yet all filled with
interesting people, places, things, and ideas. Sometimes I walk with others, sometimes alone. At times,
I ve become lost along the way so lost I d forgotten who I really am, but sometimes the path to
renewal and reawakening can be beautiful, wondrous, and full of surprises.
Who am I? I m many things, and as I travel along my life s journey of discovery I m able to add to this
ever growing list of the words I use to describe who I think I am (and being a scholar of letters and a
former librarian, I ve arranged these traits alphabetically and, of course, not in any order of importance

It s about a fictional Native American culture flourishing 3,000 years ago at the archeological site
today known as Poverty Point in northern Louisiana. My hope for my literary prehistoric novel with
its strong though somewhat insecure female heroine, traditional and original Native American based
myths and legends weaved throughout the storyline, and plausible explanation as to why a thriving
community suddenly abandons its extensive village built on a series of phenomenal crescent shaped
earthwork mounds is that it be published and appeal to archeology, history, Native American folklore,
naturalist, and romance enthusiasts, not to mention those simply charmed by Louisiana s unique

The Core Essence Of Servant Leadership From A Biblical...
As a Doctoral candidate and a Singles Adult Ministry leader, I believe it is vitally important to
understand the tasks and challenges, in becoming an effective leader in ministry and our society today.
Therefore, this research paper will attempt to articulate the core essence of Servant Leadership from a
Biblical perspective, which might be able to provide practical, theological, and hermeneutical insights
in order to develop leadership competency and a healthy prosperous ministry, as oppose to the current
secular leadership myths and fascination in our church, culture and society. Admittedly, over the years
I have always admired and strived to adopt a servant leader attitude in all my endeavors. Equally, the

Similarly, author Wade Berry, in an article with reference to Paul s practice of leadership, describes it
as:
Leadership is understood here not as dealing with how a particular leader understands and develops
the organizational structure of her or his group, but as how a leader interacts with the members of the
group in order to get individuals within the group as a whole to adopt certain values, goals, practices,
or behaviors. This is a beautiful reflection of leadership, which provides us with a basic foundational
framework. On that basis, when I reflect on the term Servant Leader , from a hermeneutical
perspective, it would appear to be a paradox, from my own conceptual understanding of the language.
For instance, when we think of a servant, we often envision someone serving others. Likewise, we
perceive a leader as the one who is influential, powerful and has authority. Paradoxically, the two
words together seem to contradict each other, but also serve as a prophetic concept to emphasize the
core essence of Jesus and Paul s leadership model. In reality, the term servant leader is a model that
reflects trust, communication, integrity, sacrifice, humiliation, selflessness and the ethical use of
power. The servant leadership model by its own nature has traits as well as, learned skills, which

Death And The Maiden Short Story
Don t you know who I am? Intro Hook Where Are You Going, Where Have You Been? by Joyce Carol
Oates, was originally entitled Death and the Maiden. In this short story, Oates provides internal events
in the form of excitement and suspense. These internal events are also the climax. Arnold Friend, the
demonic adversary, causes Connie, the protagonist, the anguish which drives the plot. Arnold Friend
persuades Connie to cross the threshold into the adult world and lose her innocence. Home life Friend
first noticed Connie when she was at the diner, her parents did not know she was there. Connie has
been hiding a lot from her family, including the way she dressed when she was not home. Connie has
a home life which is not ideal. Her father is mentally absent, her mother is jealous of her and therefore
treats her poorly, she is always compared to her sister, she feels she has nothing other than her looks,
and seeks attention from boys, since she doesn t get any attention at home. This is what causes her to
meet Arnold Friend. Appearance One of the things about Arnold Friend that cause one to believe he is
the Devil is his appearance. From head to toe, his appearance is meant to be deceptive. He is roughly
thirty years old, and dresses like a teenager. Friend has black shaggy hair that looks like a wig, black
thick lashes, and a five o clock shadow. In literature, it is common for dark hair to symbolize an evil
character, and that is definitely the case here. Friend s face is

To be a giant of a man, to have an enormous heart and to be an inspiration to all that he meets; Jonah
Lomu is a true leader among men.
A New Zealander of Tongan decent Jonah was born on the 12 May 1975 and grew up in the tough
suburbs of South Auckland where he could have ended up in serious trouble if he hadn t been given
the discipline, academic focus and sporting opportunities that he received while attending Wesley
College. At College Jonah s sporting talents became very obvious, he smashed many athletic records
and despite his large size he has blistering pace; covering 100 meters in 10.8 sec, which would even be
a very respectable time next to Usan Bolts world record of 9.58. He played rugby for the first XV for

The immense contribution Jonah has made to rugby through his career by his 100% commitment on
the field; to his sportsmanship and support of others is something to be admired, and since his
retirement Jonah has become the Ambassador for UNICEF and many other charities. As well as
becoming a member of the Champions for Peace club (a group of 54 elite athletes committed to
serving peace in the world through sport). Jonah also takes on many public speaking and mentoring
roles and in 2007 was awarded The Member of the Order of New Zealand for his services to Rugby an
award well deserved.
Finally Jonah underwent a kidney transplant in Auckland hospital. But he didn t let that hold him back
from reaching his dream of being able to play the game he loves so much, and in 2005 Jonah played
his rugby comeback game in England and signed a deal with French Club Marseilles in 2009. As well
as the many charities and mentoring Jonah in is involved in he is today still one of the leading
sportsman around the world and is idolized wherever he goes. Listening to him speak and hearing

What Makes a Monster Essay
What Makes a Monster?
Monsters are often thought of as green, abnormally large and scary. They are believed to hide in dark
shadows and forgotten street corners. Monsters have a bad reputation and the very nature of the term
monster is not smiled upon. I believe these thoughts are generic and relics of a much safer past. In our
morally bankrupt society monsters exist in the realist scariest form. As we step into adulthood and take
our heads out of the comic books that shows us the danger of the Green Goblin we must now be
alerted the real demons. Adolf Hitler killed thousands upon thousands of people. His persona and
legacy can only be thought of as sick and sadistic. Adolf Hitler did by himself what would take an

This lead to a total DNA change that turned him into a huge psychotic lizard. Peter Parker who had
been bit by a radio active spider was now on a search to rediscover who he really is and only at the
age of sixteen. If Stan Lee s classic comic was meant to teach us anything it was meant to teach us that
we have a choice. Peter Parker a low income orphan, who was bullied and weak used his powers to
become a hero. Osborne decided other wise. Using not Spiderman, but Peter Parker as my last explain
I would like to show you that what makes a monster is more than the struggle for power as I earlier
stated. It is the choice we make with that power whether it is given to us or taken.
In conclusion I want to provide you with a few points of clarity. Power did not make Adolf Hitler a
monster. Self love, greed, and ill convinced passion made Hitler the monster history remembers him
as. Passions gone wrong made Dr. Osborne into an actual scaly green monster he became. Passion
may have drove these men to extreme lengths, but their bad choices made them monsters. Good thing
that in every comic, movie, and history book, there is always a few Peter Parkers to save the day. You
can not have the bad guys with out the

Very often, black abolitionists had different, very different, perceptions of what their role ought to be. So, there was a struggle among white and black abolitionists about just what the proper role of a black abolitionist was in this movement. The tone of this quote is questionable. • 3. The Pros And Cons Of Social Stereotypes Stereotype threat is a social phenomenon where a member of a negatively stereotyped group performs poorly when reminded of that stereotype (Beilock, Jellison, Rydell, McConnell, Carr, 2006). For example, previous studies have shown that when primed with a negative stereotype African Americans perform worse on intellectual tasks (Steele, Aronson, 1995), and women perform worse at math (Spencer, Steele, Quinn, 1999). The main component of stereotype threat is that it impairs working memory (Schmader, Forbes, Johns, 2008). Working memory is a short term memory system that is involved in the control, regulation, and active maintenance of a limited amount of information with immediate relevance to the task at hand (Miyake Shah, 1999). So essentially as one works on a task, working memory keeps all the important information ready for quick access, which is crucial for performance in almost every domain. Previous studies have shown that working memory capacity is a direct mediator between stereotype threat and impaired mental performance (Schmader, Johns, 2003). At a cognitive level, working memory is a limited capacity resource that can become depleted if it is attending to multiple domains. If depleted there is less capacity available to control a task s execution and information processing demands (Schmader, Johns, 2003). Many different studies have contested how it is that stereotype threat impairs performance. For example, in Steele and Aronson s ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 12. Lithium Ion Batteries For Electric Vehicle Batteries Essay Introduction A lithium ion (Li ion) battery is a type of rechargeable battery which uses a lithium ion that moves from a positive electrode (cathode) to a negative electrode (anode) during charging and vice versa during discharge. Lithium ion batteries are less environmentally damaging than batteries containing heavy metals such as cadmium and mercury, but recycling them is still far preferable to incinerating them or sending them to landfill. Lithium ion batteries are made up of one or more generating compartments called cells. Each cell is composed of three components: an anode, a cathode, and a chemical called an electrolyte in between them. Lithium ion batteries are becoming more common in portable electronic devices due to their high energy density, lack of memory effect, and high charge and discharge rate capabilities. Research and development work is ongoing to improve safety and increase capacity, charge/discharge rate, and lifetime. Demand for electric vehicle batteries is currently small, but it is expected to grow very quickly. China, Japan, South Korea, France, and the United States are the major lithium ion battery manufacturers for hybrid and electric vehicle applications. A lot of information from different sources was gathered with the purpose of comparing different Li ion batteries mechanisms, cathode and anode materials, structure and fabrication procedures, and their respective advantages and disadvantages. Certainly long enough for many to question the requirement of any business practicality to achieve success. Models of mediocrity failing up the corporate ranks because of their personal connections can be found in almost any professional environment. So much so it begs the question of how far back the practice exists. J.F. Bosher s conclusions on the reasoning of the success and failure in the New France trade during the seventeenth and eighteenth centuries are inconclusive at best. Yet, the professor of history at the University of Toronto to his best summation is that the right religious association or social stature could have undoubtedly influenced prosperity. However, in Bosher s study of fifty eight bankruptcy cases between 1660 1760, he is quick to argue that there is no definitive evidence that point to one direct cause for financial ruin. Rather multiple conditions including chance that contributed to the fates of trade families. These complexities included war, the government, volatile economic trends, and religious/social structure (Bosher 458). Ultimately, many merchants turned to partnership through marriage or religion as means of establishing a trade network in an attempt to minimize those risks. Introduction This thesis is devoted to an investigation of the use of electroencephalographic (EEG) signals for biometric person recognition. The traditional ways of access control include using token based identification systems, such as a driver s license or passport, and knowledge based identification systems, such as a password or personal identification number [1]. Biometric person recognition, however, relies on human physiological and/or behavioural characteristics for establishing identity. A range of such distinctive, measurable characteristics can be used have been successfully used to recognize individuals. Biometric modalities/identifiers are considered to be unique to individuals: they may be more reliable in verifying identity than token and knowledge based methods [1]. One limitation of the specially designed database is the number of subjects included for data capture using the low cost sensor system. The self collected database contains 27 subjects with recordings from multiple sessions made on different days, which may still not be large enough to justify the statistical significance of the obtained results. Furthermore, due to the quality of the data from the low cost sensor, it can be predicted that with the number of subjects further increasing, the recognition performance of the EEG biometric system tends to reduce. He was the son of Cronus and Rhea and had three sisters, Hera, Demeter, and Hestia, along with two brothers, Zeus and Posedion. This was the family that made up the six original Olympian gods. The Titanomachy was a ten year divine war between Titans and the Olympians. This war was fought to determine which generation of gods would have rule over the universe. Strobel once declared atheist, and now Christian, shares how he began to look upon the Bible and God. As an atheist, Strobel lived the life of selfishness and only worried to please himself. When his wife began to go to church he wasn t very pleased until after he saw the positive and attractive change in her. This is the start of his curiosity and investigation about Christianity. Next, Strobel writes about his interview with Bruce Metzger concerning the reliability of the text in the New Testament. Since the original books of the New Testament was lost, how do we know that the copied text is identical to the memo? According to Metzger, the more often you have copies that agree with each other, especially if they emerge from different geographical areas, the more you can cross check them to figure out what the original document was like (p. 76). Also, Strobel asked Metzger why some books weren t included in the New Testament and his response was that the church did want to portray such pictures of Jesus in the canon, that the church only wanted the New Testament to contain only the best historical stories of Jesus. The next scholar interviewed was Edwin Yamauchi. He was asked about additional biblical proof that confirms the New Testament but he was not very convincing. The question for Strobel s fourth interview was whether archeology increased or decreased the New Testaments reliability. Three New Testament statements are entirely unsupported by archaeology. First, the three hours of worldwide darkness during the crucifixion (Mark 15:33). Second, the resurrection of the saints, and their following appearance to many in Jerusalem (Matthew 27:52 53). Finally third, Jesus burial in the tomb. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 30. The Core Essence Of Servant Leadership From A Biblical... As a Doctoral candidate and a Singles Adult Ministry leader, I believe it is vitally important to understand the tasks and challenges, in becoming an effective leader in ministry and our society today. Therefore, this research paper will attempt to articulate the core essence of Servant Leadership from a Biblical perspective, which might be able to provide practical, theological, and hermeneutical insights in order to develop leadership competency and a healthy prosperous ministry, as oppose to the current secular leadership myths and fascination in our church, culture and society. Similarly, author Wade Berry, in an article with reference to Paul s practice of leadership, describes it as: Leadership is understood here not as dealing with how a particular leader understands and develops the organizational structure of her or his group, but as how a leader interacts with the members of the group in order to get individuals within the group as a whole to adopt certain values, goals, practices, or behaviors. This is a beautiful reflection of leadership, which provides us with a basic foundational framework. On that basis, when I reflect on the term Servant Leader , from a hermeneutical perspective, it would appear to be a paradox, from my own conceptual understanding of the language. For instance, when we think of a servant, we often envision someone serving others. Likewise, we perceive a leader as the one who is influential, powerful and has authority. Paradoxically, the two words together seem to contradict each other, but also serve as a prophetic concept to emphasize the core essence of Jesus and Paul s leadership model. In reality, the term servant leader is a model that reflects trust, communication, integrity, sacrifice, humiliation, selflessness and the ethical use of power. The servant leadership model by its own nature has traits as well as, learned skills, which ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Home life Friend first noticed Connie when she was at the diner, her parents did not know she was there. Her father is mentally absent, her mother is jealous of her and therefore treats her poorly, she is always compared to her sister, she feels she has nothing other than her looks, and seeks attention from boys, since she doesn t get any attention at home. This is what causes her to meet Arnold Friend. Appearance One of the things about Arnold Friend that cause one to believe he is the Devil is his appearance. From head to toe, his appearance is meant to be deceptive. He is roughly thirty years old, and dresses like a teenager. Friend has black shaggy hair that looks like a wig, black thick lashes, and a five o clock shadow. In literature, it is common for dark hair to symbolize an evil character, and that is definitely the case here. Friend s face is ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Monsters have a bad reputation and the very nature of the term monster is not smiled upon. I believe these thoughts are generic and relics of a much safer past. In our morally bankrupt society monsters exist in the realist scariest form.
