This is my textual analysis for my double page spread.

1. VIBE DOUBLE PAGE

3. Analysis
• The layout of the double page spread is very interesting as most of
the page is taken up of images of her, the main image of her really
stands out not only because it takes up most of one of the pages
but because it is a lot brighter than the banner behind her which
gives a good contrast of colours and stands out. The font used on
the double page spread is a good size and style for the reader.
Also I like how in the heading the celebrity which the text is about,
her name is bright and stands out from the text which is a good
affect also the visual style shows that with the background being
just plain colours and the image being so bright shows the
importance of the celebrity. There is not a big use of colours in the
double page spread but because of the black and which having the
celebrity and her name being bright really stand out and makes it
look affective against the background. The double page spread is
different and since it is an RnB magazine the colours are very
dramatic which will attract the target audience.

4. Stereotype
• Appearance/behaviour:
The appearance of the celebrity in this double page
spread in a very sexually provocative pose, getting the
people going. She is almost standing like a child who has
done something wrong where as she is a fully grown
women dressed in a sexy outfit. The banner behind her is
a little different posing in her own way moving about in a
dancing kind of movement and then posing to the camera
acting in a fun flirtatious way.

5. Hegemony, Pluralism and Ideology
• Hegemony:
Hegemony is the theory that argues that media industries operate
within a structure, that produces the most dominant ideology this is a
belief/view that gets the most exposure. The hegemony project is the
fact that the worlds views are controlled by white, middle class, middle
aged, heterosexual men. For this double page spread the hegemony
theory fits in well because it is a fully grown women dressed in a sexy
outfit but standing in a child like way as if she has done something
naughty, which means any middle aged man would find her attractive.
• Pluralism:
Pluralism is when someone perceives something how ever they would
like to. A way of showing this for example would be if men when where
to look at this image then they would think she is an attractive person
where as some may have a different opinion as she could want to have
that sort of pose and pluralists may see this the way it really should be
perceived, that she just liked the pose.

6. Mediation
• The mediation of the double page spread is that the
image of her is pretty much in the middle, so they know
the article is about her. In the article words are highlighted
to show the importance. The celebrity in the article is in an
orange dress where as the rest is in black and white
making the image of her stand out. This double page
spread is written as an article and not in an interview way
which is not as personal.

7. Audience Theory
• The Audience for the double page would be young adults
as I think it would be to inform for children.
