2. The social groups that we targeted are the
demographic groups of C1-E and the
psychographic groups of Reformer and Explorer.
We have presented our social group very stereotypically as the font
we used for our masthead is graffiti like, this
shows our groups rebellious attitude and the need to go against
the crowd which links to the reformer category, ‘independent
growth’ and ‘freedom of restriction’
However we used a smiliar style to already existing products of this
genre which sort of subverts the explorer group as they like to try
new things
3. • I think I have conveyed the stereotype of our dempgraphic groups
of C1-E quite well, as my front cover is simple and not so much
sophisticated however it still remains interesting to this social
group. It reaches out throughout all the groups as it is simple
enough to understand for E tiered readers yet interesting enough
to keep C1 readers interested.
Simple cover with few
tag lines on the side,
to create neat yet
simple look.
One main image to
show some
sophistication yet still
keeps it simple.
4. • I have also challenged the idea of the Hegemonic Marxist theory
as the image on my front cover is very ‘girl power’ based. The two
models are of equal status as they are at the same height and
neither is centrally composed or in front. The lack of male models
on this cover subverts the stereotype that men are usually more
powerful than women in the media as these two have made it on
their own. I also show this on my double page spread where it’s
only me, showing that females can and do achieve in
the media by themselves instead of needing men to
help them.
5. • We have also followed the stereotype
of people who listen to rock music are
moody, dark and unique characters, I
have shown this by making sure both
me and Wiktoria were wearing dark
colours such as black and burgundy.
My stockings and suspenders show my
originality and need to stand out as do
Wiktoria’s thigh high socks.
• Also we both have serious facial
expressions suggesting our music
could be quite serious or angry, just
like the stereotype.
