3. Analysis
• This contents page is very inteeresting. Most of the page
is taking up by an image of a naked celebrity which I think
would not be suitable for a magazine. The writing is very
small and pushed to one side of the page making the
image take up all of the page. There is not a lot of colours
used in the contents page also making the image very
visible for the reader. I think the font used is not very good
for a contents page and think the font should be better to
make it easier to read.
4. Stereotype
• Appearance/Behaviour:
The behaviour of this image is very rude and the
appearance is indecent, this shows the stereotype of
magazines nowadays. The celebrity is standing with a had
covering his gentles with only half of his face showing
giving of a cheeky impression.
5. Hegemony, Pluralism and Ideology
• Hegemony:
Hegemony is the theory that argues that the media industries
only operate within a structure. The structure produces the most
dominant ideology this is a belief/view that gets the most
exposure. The hegemony project is the fact that the worlds views
are controlled by white, middle class, middle aged, heterosexual
men. For example this contents page would not apply because
it’s a half naked man which a heterosexual man would not enjoy
looking at.
• Pluralism:
Pluralism is when someone perceives something however they
would like to, an example of showing this would be a pluralists
opinion would be that he is posing like this because he wants to
show of his good body.
6. Mediation
• The mediation of the contents page is that the celebrity is
the main image and takes up most of the page showing
that he has a big story in the magazine. In the image of
him he is naked making him stand out to the reader. This
contents page does not have a lot of writing on it showing
that the image is very important, which I do not like about
it as I think there should be a lot more writing on it.
7. Audience Theory
• The audience of this contents page is a tricky one and
would not attract to all people as not many
heterosexuals/men would like to look at this in a
magazine. I think the audience of this would be young girl
adults as the indecent exposure would be to much for
children's eyes.
