Reflection &
Review

Tasks
• BEFORE you start this proforma, make sure you have
exported your 2 videos from Premiere and embedded
from YouTube to your blogger
• Make sure you have sent your blog address [NOT the
login page address] to your tutor
• Once your Key film and test music video are exported
and uploaded you can then clean up your files and
delete the footage from the computer or archive to
One Drive
• Then you can begin!
• Feel free to add extra slides, notes, images, etc where
necessary – make sure you answer the section fully.
Make a point with an example, explain this and link to
other points and your future practice
Filming - camera
• List and discuss a minimum of 3 areas you found interesting, difficult, what
went well, what was less successful, etc about using the camera.
• When using camera, I enjoyed how much I can control how look the
footage looks before I even start the editing process. I enjoyed having
access to manually set factors such as brightness or focus of the material.
• I found it a little difficult to attach the camera to a tripod and keep it
steady. I think that the process of putting it on the tripod when I'm ready to
film, and off it when we need to change location was time consuming.
• Although I mentioned that the ability to manually set up all the factors of
the footage myself was something positive, I have to admit that it also
became a slight challenge as it takes good knowledge of the equipment as
well as practice in using it.
Filming - people
• List and discuss a minimum of 3 areas you found interesting, difficult, what went
well, what was less successful, etc about working with others on the test filming
• In terms of organization I feel like it was a little difficult to come up with
individual ideas that the whole group would enjoy finalising. The final product
though ended up being somewhat a fusion of our own concepts and ideas, which
I found to be a positive outcome
• When deciding on roles of each one of the members, our group struggled a little.
We found ourselves avoiding the responsibility of performing Infront of the
camera, however, in the end we managed to organize every responsibility fairly.
• We decided to take turns when filming, each person got the experience how to
use the camera equipment which was mostly positive. This led however, to the
different bits of footage looking different from another, some shots were ou of
focus and some were very shaky.
Editing
• List and discuss a minimum of 3 areas you found interesting, difficult,
what went well, what was less successful, etc about your editing in
Premiere
• He editing process was definitely my favourite art of the project because the individuality factor
of my work. I could manipulate the footage taken by me and my group however I liked which gave
an opportunity to test myself as an editor.
• I found it a little challenging to construct the final project from the footage we have collected. Like
I mentioned, the quality of the footage was different from shot to shot, some o them
unfortunately were not even usable which made my editing process a little difficult.
• I enjoyed the process but what caused me a little trouble is figuring ou all the technical functions
of the software I was using.
Reflections – what have you learned?
• What are the 3 main things you think you have learned from these
exercises?
• The main skill I have developed during the test project was cooperation and teamwork. The task
required me and my team members to work together, developing our cooperation on collecting
the footage and which I see as a valuable experience.
• My ability to use the camera as well as manually set its functions in order too make the footage
look better has increased during the production of our test video. It was a good practice of how to
deal with the equipment.
• As well as the camera, I have got an opportunity to practice and improve my knowledge of the
editing software and the way I use it in order to create a finished product. I have learn
Action Points
• Make 5 action points from the work you’ve done here that you will be
considering and using in your music video project [it could be a technical
aspect with equipment, time management, working with others, planning,
etc]
• Making a shot list
• Creating a storyboard
• Featuring my colleges in the shots
• Instead of using only locked off shot, I might apply some movement to my
camerawork, zooming in/out, following my actor with the camera etc.
• Recording the footage with music playing in the background so we can time
each action so it fits the tempo of the song
