The document provides instructions and reflections on test video projects. It includes tasks to complete before starting like exporting and uploading videos. It asks the reader to discuss 3 areas they found interesting, difficult, what went well, and what was less successful for filming with a camera, working with others, and editing in Premiere. For reflections, it prompts listing the 3 main things learned and 5 action points to consider for future projects.

thGAP - BAbyss in Moderno!! Transgenic Human Germline Alternatives ProjectMarc Dusseiller Dusjagr
thGAP - Transgenic Human Germline Alternatives Project, presents an evening of input lectures, discussions and a performative workshop on artistic interventions for future scenarios of human genetic and inheritable modifications.
To begin our lecturers, Marc Dusseiller aka "dusjagr" and Rodrigo Martin Iglesias, will give an overview of their transdisciplinary practices, including the history of hackteria, a global network for sharing knowledge to involve artists in hands-on and Do-It-With-Others (DIWO) working with the lifesciences, and reflections on future scenarios from the 8-bit computer games of the 80ies to current real-world endeavous of genetically modifiying the human species.
We will then follow up with discussions and hands-on experiments on working with embryos, ovums, gametes, genetic materials from code to slime, in a creative and playful workshop setup, where all paticipant can collaborate on artistic interventions into the germline of a post-human future.
2. Tasks
• BEFORE you start this proforma, make sure you have
exported your 2 videos from Premiere and embedded
from YouTube to your blogger
• Make sure you have sent your blog address [NOT the
login page address] to your tutor
• Once your Key film and test music video are exported
and uploaded you can then clean up your files and
delete the footage from the computer or archive to
One Drive
• Then you can begin!
• Feel free to add extra slides, notes, images, etc where
necessary – make sure you answer the section fully.
Make a point with an example, explain this and link to
other points and your future practice
3. Filming - camera
• List and discuss a minimum of 3 areas you found
interesting, difficult, what went well, what was less
successful, etc about using the camera
• Interesting: POV shots; how it adds a more human
element to the film giving the viewer greater
connection to the characters and adds more
atmosphere.
• Difficult: camera settings; setting up the camera and
the lighting on the settings e.g. ISO.
• What went well: I feel like the overall production and
camera work went well with the theme and task at
hand. It was a very coordinated and well thought out
especially the short film which included multiple POV
and panned shots to add tension and atmosphere.
• Less successful: the lighting on the music video had a
few problems which where solved but not to the
best degree as some of the shot where still over
exposed and too bright. This caused some minimal
problems within editing but nothing that would
cause a reshoot yet could still have been better and
had better properties to it.
4. Filming - people
• List and discuss a minimum of 3 areas you found interesting, difficult, what
went well, what was less successful, etc about working with others on the test
filming.
• Interesting: we all have individual ideas which we could use and put forward to one another to add or possibly remove
elements to make the films more attached to the task such as have one person run around a corner and another stand
and watch as a possible villain or creature.
• Difficult: the most difficult part was probably timing and just getting used to being Infront of a camera in the situation of
filming and possibly having people see but this soon subsided and it became a more natural and enjoyable experience.
• What went well: the coordination of everyone was good and we all communicated our ideas and possible ways to make
the shot more enticing and enjoyable for the viewer.
• What was less successful: sometimes our ideas would clash and possibly disagree with one another but this wasn’t really
a problem and we had a compromise to make it fair.
5. Editing
• List and discuss a minimum of 3 areas you found interesting, difficult, what
went well, what was less successful, etc about your editing in Premiere
• interesting: I found the process of making everything work to be the most interesting such as finding fitting audio/
ambience for the short movie or attaching the clips to the music queues on the music video. I also enjoyed editing the
audio such as giving it higher or lower gain or adding slightly more reverb to add more of an atmosphere and scale to the
area mostly on the short film.
• Difficult: the most difficult area was probably the first learning point, where stuff is and how it works properly and with
what it works best with such as which effects suit a certain area better than others and if it contributes to the overall
theme of the videos.
• What went well: the flow of the editing process went well as there was minor problems and very solvable ones at that.
The final product for both of the film projects came out better than expected with it achieving its set goal as a short movie
about liminal spaces which creates tension and atmosphere with the added sounds and auditory effects to the music
video with its upbeat vocals and fun transitions.
• what was less successful: some minor parts on the music video where the editing and effects seemed a bit out of place
but not enough to take away from the video and also due to the lack of knowledge on all of the effects for a better
understanding of them and how they may work better in different areas.
6. Reflections – what have you learned?
• What are the 3 main things you think you have learned from these
exercises?
• How to act and be more comfortable in front of a camera.
• How to use a camera correctly with lighting, noise etc.
• How to use editing software better.
7. Action Points
• Make 5 action points from the work you’ve done here that you will be
considering and using in your music video project [it could be a
technical aspect with equipment, time management, working with
others, planning, etc]
• Using a tripod.
• Checking and using camera settings.
• Some effects out of the editing software.
• To be maybe more on time.
• Confidence Infront of the camera.
