The Power Of A Group
The power of a group is immense. Although composed of individuals, a group functions as a separate
entity, and it bears the capability to heavily influence the thoughts and actions of its members. This
manipulation can alter the perception of the entire group and, as a result, lead to a psychological
phenomenon known as groupthink . Research psychologist, Irving Janis, defined groupthink as . . . a
deterioration in mental efficiency, reality testing and moral judgments as a result of group pressures
(84). Janis further categorized groupthink into eight symptoms, spanning three types; overestimation
of the group, close mindedness, and pressure toward uniformity (Rose 38). The invention of the
internet and social media has allowed for ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Although there was a clear disregard for the well being of others, members of the group had the
thought of justice instilled within them. And so, violence, arson, and stealing may have been viewed
as mainly positive, because it was done in the name of Gray. However, Gray s mother did not see it
that way, saying I want y all to get justice for my son, but don t do it like this here (Yan and Ford). For
protesters, Gray s death was seen as worthy of such an extreme response.
Type two, close mindedness, mainly sees a group disregarding outside opinions. In August of 2016,
Milwaukee Journal Sentinel staff reported riots breaking out in Milwaukee after officers shot and
killed armed suspect Syville Smith (Glauber et al.). With the exception of serious harm toward
officers, events occurred similar to that of the Baltimore riots. The factor that distinguished the two
was the protester s stereotyping of out groups . Which is described as a refusal to reason with out
groups due to stereotypes (Janis 86). Intern for the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel and Asian American,
Aaron Mak experienced this directly. He along with another white photojournalist were reporting on
scene, when they needed to hide behind a vehicle to avoid violence. Protesters had spotted the
photographer, and Mak heard Get your white ass out of here! and You better not

Essex Class Aircraft Carriers Essay
During World War II there were 24 Essex class aircraft carriers. The Essex class Carriers were built to
last in the harshest conditions. During the war there were no Essex Class Ships lost although there
were many attempts to down them. After WWII many of the Essex Class Ships were recommissioned
as reserve Carriers. Today there are 4 Essex Class Ships remaining, and they re used as museums. The
USS Franklin was nicknamed Big Ben. The USS Franklin was hit twice by bombs and once by a
Kamikaze pilot. They had 4 12 x 127 mm L/38s, one 32x40mm L/56, and one 44x20mm gun as
armament(Chen). The USS Franklin was full of gas and bombs. They had 36,000 gallons of gas and
30 ton of bombs. When the USS Franklin was hit, the gas and the bombs ignited causing it to explode
even more than just the bombs. The fires on the ship were massive and it took them 2,344 tons of
water to fight the fires(Chen). That s 630566 gallons of water. The captain of the USS Franklin, Leslie
E. Gehres, he refused to say his ship was a gonner. It took them nearly ten hours to get the fires under
control. The attacks caused 832 deaths and wounded 300, that s one third of the ship s crew members.

Religion In Feudal China s Grapes
Did you know about 250,000 Buddhist nuns and monks were forced to leave their religion? I am

Economics, and Social Structure). The essay will be split into paragraphs about each religion. I will

What is Buddhism? Buddhism was introduced to China during the Han Dynasty. It became popular
when the Han and Tang dynasties were struggling with each other. They were looking for a way to

Confucianism was structured around respect for family and society. Confucianism was an important
belief, particularly for the scholar officials. Confucianism existed during a time of warfare and chaos
of China. Confucius s philosophy was created to bring back peace and stability. He said that a wise
ruler governed through honest examples, not force. Confucius lived around 551 B.C. to 479 B.C. Even
after Confucius died, his followers kept spreading his thoughts and beliefs. He educated people that
they could get virtue through education. He taught a similar version of the golden rule , to treat others
like you would treat yourself. Confucius taught children that they should always respect their parents.
Confucius believed that Junzi were rulers and that they would inspire others below them to live a good
life. Moral self cultivation was shown through the activities of the Junzi. Junzi means superior person.
Confucius thought of the Junzi as a good moral role model, rather than an individual of noble birth.
Junzi had to have many traits including: respectful to their parents, they were dedicated to learning,
worked for the good of the family, community, and society. They were guided by the traditional rituals
and social customs. Some scholars think that Confucius thought that women could become a

Beowulf Good Vs Evil
Beowulf Good vs. Evil
Throughout Beowulf, the concept of good vs. evil is not only expressed, but is capitalized on
continuously. Beowulf is the protagonist in the adventure and has a clearly defined counterpart:
Grendel; the evil entity. They are put against each other numerous times as a representation of how
there will be a never ending quarrel between good and evil. This can be compared to a specifically
recent event: the Las Vegas terror attack. Though this may only be one event, the threat of terror
attacks has been a constant concern; the Las Vegas, only being more severe and recent. This constant
tension between the terrorists and the people is just as that of Beowulf and Grendel: never ending. A
key point made in Beowulf is

Comparative Analysis of Antibiotic Growth Suppression of Staphylococcus Aureus
Introduction
Staphylococcus Aureus is a gram negative bacterium that may be pathogenic or exist as a commensal
organism in humans. Unevolved strains are susceptible to nearly all antibiotics (Chambers DeLeo,
2009). Among the many antibiotic options, penicillin is particularly effective against S. Aureus. This is
due to the mechanism of action by which penicillin replaces key structures in the bacterial cell wall
that are essential to growth and repair. By preventing this cell maintenance, penicillin promotes
osmotic instability in the cell and greatly increases the likelihood of cell death (Strominger Tipper
1965). In a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Recent research by Khokhlova et al. found that MRSA cases among S. Aureus isolates across Siberia
were found at a rate of 22% in hospitals, compared to a community infection rate of 2.9% (2015).
Traditional antibiotic treatments such as penicillin are often proven ineffective in these cases, as in the
case of Fomda et al., which found a resistance rate of 85.46% at a tertiary care hospital (2014). The
goal of this experiment is to determine whether different antibiotics will inhibit bacterial growth of S.
Aureus. The hypothesis is that all three antibiotics used (penicillin, gentamicin, and kanamycin) will
inhibit growth. If a zone of inhibition is observed around each antibiotic disk, then the hypothesis will
be supported demonstrating the bacteria s susceptibility to the subject antibiotics. By demonstrating
the efficacy of various different antibiotics and comparing them to one another in context of the target
bacteria, combined with the gram stain results of S. Aureus, the results may be further analyzed and
explained.
Methods
Five agar plates were prepared with evenly distributed S. Aureus bacteria. After being marked into
four equal quadrants, an antibiotic disk was gently placed in each section of each plate. The levels of
treatment in the 4 disks were 10 micrograms of gentamicin, 10 micrograms of penicillin, and 30
micrograms of kanamycin, with a control group of an identical

The Humanities Of Arts Management
It cannot deny that there are more and more new fields in academic education. One of the most
relevant to me is the arts management. After studied arts management at undergraduate school in
Taiwan, now I am still studying in this field in America. Therefore, I am interested in the education of
the arts management in the US. The aim of the paper is to examine the research paper, The MFA in
Arts Management (Rosenstein, 2013) to understand the arts management s condition in American
education. Furthermore, through this paper, I may understand how hard I need to work in this
discipline and find the academic writing in the field. Following, I will introduce Swales and Feak s
(2012) moves, summarize the research paper, and discuss the writing skill, including structure and
style, in the article.
First of all, the introduction of the each paper is very important. It previews the brief summary for
readers to understand what they will read and makes the reader choice a paper efficiently. Hence, I
want to introduce academic moves from Swales and Feak (2012). Basing on Swales and Feak (2012),
the introduction of the article, the MFA in Arts Management, shows 3 moves. The move 1a describes
how important the issue will be discussed in the article paper. Through the Over its fifty years in the
academy... the move 1a describes that the arts administration, also called arts management, has
developed as a professional field gradually in higher institution. Furthermore, the move 1b is

According To Mead Generalized Order
Generalized order is an organized community or group which an individual belongs to. These are
attitudes that one would assume is common for the whole group. Additionally, if we can assume the
attitude of the generalized other, we are capable of forming abstract values and principals regarding
freedom, equal rights, and fairness. For Mead, generalized order clearly demonstrated the relationship
between society and self. Therefore, in order to be ourselves, it is essential to become in a community
of attitudes that control the attitudes of all members. In doing so, individuals can create effective
organizations and activities. According to Mead, the language process is vital in regards to the
development of the self. The term communication

Texas Natural Disasters
Residents of the Lone Star State are fond of saying that everything is bigger in Texas, from football
teams to marching bands, farmers markets to barbecue favorites. But a corollary to that oft spoken
refrain is everything is better in Texas as well. After all, the state was the second most inbound
location for families who moved in 2015, according to the U.S. Census Bureau, and for eight
consecutive years, Harris County maintained the distinction as the U.S. county with the most
significant annual population growth.
All that being said, the storms that sweep through the Lone Star State are similarly noteworthy, both
for the amount of destruction they cause, and the way in which residents and officials come together to

Legislation on the books in Texas prevents insurers from raising premiums improperly or from

Christianity And Christianity
Christianity in Context. In this assignment, there is an opportunity to compare and contrast the many
ways that Christianity and other world religions address different questions. For example, what is the
ultimate purpose or meaning of life?, what can I expect after death, and how can I prepare for it?,
What interaction can I now have with the divine?, to what extent is religion (including Christianity) a
human construct? and How should Christians view other religions in the light of their own faith?. It is
indicated that this paper will be careful to not generalize Christianity in matters where there is
disagreement.
Similarities Between Christianity and Other Religions
There are many major religions of the world that have similarities and differences. Therefore, it is
indicated that there are some similarities when comparing Christianity with other religions. In the
paper, there will be a great discussion on the differences and similarities between the three faiths
which are Christianity, Islam and Judaism. Therefore, it is indicated that Islam and Christianity shares
similarities of beliefs. For example, they share similar views on judgment, heaven, hell, spirits, angels,
and a future resurrection. Additionally, they share that Jesus is acknowledged and respected by
Muslims as a great prophet. Furthermore, Christianity, Islam, and Judaism all believe in one God. For
example, Christianity believes that there is one God who exists in three distinct the Trinity. The Islam

years and having one of them not remember who the other is, or their past life together. The film Away

and show how much her brain is starting to deteriorate, and that she is aware of it. The setting is the
same in both works; Fiona s parents cottage in the hills of Canada, snow on the ground, and a very
serene view. The film (Egoyan, et al., 2006) goes through several states of emotional stress between
the couple. First being denial. Grant is in denial for most of the film. He does not want to believe that
his wife is slowly leaving him emotionally. It also hurts him that she cannot remember much about
their marriage but can remember the infidelity. He then begins to feel some guilt because he finally
realizes how much he had hurt Fiona during his time of infidelity. In the short story (Munro, 2013) it
tells you about Grants infidelity, however in the film (Egoyan, et al., 2006) the director just eludes to
the fact that there was infidelity in the marriage. Fiona, however, does not seem to go through much
denial saying, Don t worry darling, I expect I m just losing my mind (Egoyan, et al., 2006)

Middleboro Community Health Issues Case Study HCM 5102 Jordan Seidle Fox School of Business
MBA Candidate Middleboro Community Health Issues Introduction The county of Hillsboro appears
to be a rural, and somewhat isolated, conservative community with some common healthcare related
issues that are present in many other rural communities. Educational levels for community members
are relatively low, and much of the workforce in the area comes from manufacturing facilities. Due to
higher health related costs from manufacturing workers, along with a strong union influence, increases
in the community healthcare costs are becoming more present. In addition to this, the more isolated

Currently, there are only 576 beds, many of which are not accessible to many of the people who may
be utilizing Medicare or Medicaid. This suggests that at minimum, there is a need for 205 new beds
within Hillsboro County. Assessing the county population for a 4.31% growth in the over 65 age
group (which is a low estimate, due to the large 45 64 group within the county), and including an
additional facility for the Carter Village s 110 new assisted living program, the number of available
beds in 5 years appears to be 686, compared to a demand of 814. Although this facility appears to
assist this problem, there still is a need for 128 additional beds for long term care. Again, this is a low
estimate, due to the long term care facilities are not necessarily accessible to everyone in the county,
as Senior Living of Mifflenville is a private facility, and it does not appear to meet the needs of many
of the people who would require Nursing Home Care. This also accounts for 170 of the available beds
within the county, which indicates that there is a high need than the aforementioned estimate. To add
an additional 128 bed facility in the county could prove to meet a high need within the county. Due to
the high rate of growth within the Jasper area, in addition to the limited nursing home access there
currently (with Jasper Gardens as the exception), this seems to be a good place to add

Frank Sinatra Accomplishments
The early 20th century proposed a counterculture across America: from new clothing to ideals, and
even to music and trends. This time period opened the curtain to a man that became known for his
style and talent: Frank Sinatra. His music moved young men and women alike as he propelled himself
into fame, becoming a star in popular culture and changing the world with his music and personality.
Frank Sinatra s refreshing style and voice innovated music in the 20th century by launching the solo
star musical career and popularizing music styles, specifically swing jazz and popular music.
Francis Albert Sinatra, known to the public as Frank Sinatra, took his first breath on December 19th,
1915 in a hospital in Hoboken, New Jersey. Due to birthing ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

He then went solo not long after and performed under the umbrella of a swing jazz style called big
band music, and found major success. A section from a music culture passage states that These white
bands brought the music to mainstream America... (Berg). Swing jazz was the start of many musicians
careers, including Frank Sinatra and other artists, such as Duke Ellington (Berg). Because of
performers such as them, swing jazz became popular and well loved by men and women across
America. By the end of the 1930s, Frank Sinatra had kicked off his career and would be center stage
in the 1940s musical era (Sinatra.com).
Frank Sinatra contributed to the popularization of the pop music style. Pop music, short for popular
music, is a category of music that always existed, but became a more developed, funded and
controlled by large record companies in the early 1940s (Berg). During the late 1940s and early 1950s,
smooth singers, or crooners, such as Frank Sinatra..., Tony Bennett (1926 ), and Patti Page (1927 )
dominated the pop charts (Berg). Like Frank Sinatra, musicians with smooth voices often hit the
charts, increasing pop music s popularity with music that invited larger audiences and encouraged

Sense Of Sublimity In Alfred Hitchcock s The Birds
Popular phrases such as Well, that s beyond me . . . What racks my brain is . . . or I can t wrap my
head around that are simple contemporary idioms inadvertently attempting to communicate a sense of
confusion, wonder, and admiration, though not without a touch of fear (Janowitz). Words perhaps not
commonly used to describe Alfred Hitchcock s classic which is nearing its fifty fifth birthday. Yet, the
campy, middle aged, prototypal film remains unsettling, frightening, and substantially sublime.
Therefore, what exactly cements this film in infamy? What makes its presence essential to the libraries
of eco critic s far and wide? Well, The Birds utilizes Hitchcock s crafty use of common cinematic
techniques to conjure a sustaining sense of sublimity; the bird s infiniteness, their bouts of terrorism,
and their symbolism illustrates several character s conflicts and loss of power permeating throughout
the film with climatic moments illuminated by his many artful methods.
For instance, Hitchcock initially builds a sense of sublimity by accumulating birds in a way that
represent the incomprehensibility and infiniteness of nature a characteristic of a sublimity. His attempt
to illustrate infinity fills the mind with a sort of delightful horror (Burke). The choice to reiterate the
very concept is shown in the first setting in which the movie takes place: San Francisco. A place
crowded with people, architecture, and a general absence of nature only shown to be caged or
encircling the citizens below. The birds are suspiciously swarming the sky and only one citizens take
notice the main character, Melanie. She is particularly caught by the commotion in the sky pausing to
ponder their existence, only briefly, and then finally entering the bird shop. This minor event is
important to the foreshadowing of dramatic action and the explanation of the bird s existence.
Nonetheless, a better more riveting technique is explored later in the film.
Hitchcock s ability to accumulate suspense not only throughout his film but in compressed context,
too, is impressive. The famous scene where Melanie is waiting for Mitch s sister to be released from
school exemplifies his ability. The dramatic irony of the scene is the

What Are The Pros And Cons Of A Buy Nothing Day Consumerism
In 1992, Canada organized a day on which people are urged to make no purchases. The idea behind
this Buy Nothing Day is to increase citizen awareness of environmental and ethical consequences that
come with too much consumerism; however, many feel it will severely hurt small businesses.
Nevertheless, the concept behind a day without spending is a great way to control consumer rates as
long as those who choose to partake are prepared to go a whole day with no transactions. Before
discussing the pros of a Buy Nothing Day, we must understand the reason why it can be beneficial.
Consumerism, the purchase of goods or services, is typically seen as a fantastic way to boost the
economy but everything has a limit. Excessive consumerism, or the act of buying too many goods and
services, can become a major issue for any economic system. For instance, in the 1920 s there was a
huge economic boom which created a consumer revolution. Eventually, this led to The Great

Stores and fast food restaurants are utilized every single day; therefore, just one day without any profit
would not hurt them when they bring in a consistent amount of people the rest of the year. In addition,
it could also give them time to restock and discuss new business ideas. This day might also help teach

The Man Nobody Knows Essay
The Man Nobody Knows
The author of this book Bruce Barton was a partner in a successful advertising firm during the 1920 s.
This was a time when the industry of advertising was under going some major changes. These changes
had a lot to do with a number of factors the first of which being the post war prosperity this meant
people had more money than they ever had before. Another one of these factors had to do with the
high number of teens who were now attending high school, this proved to be important because it
created a whole other market which hadn t existed before. One more factor was the advances made in
transportation and communication, these advances allowed goods, people, and information to travel ...

Barton goes on to describe how the teacher had repeatedly stressed the need for him to love God and
Jesus, and how the boy had grown to be fear God. He also told us how the boy pictured Jesus as the
Lamb of God , which reminded him of Mary had a little lamb. This association between Jesus and a
children s song had made the boy think of Jesus as meek, and lowly and as a man of sorrows and
acquainted with grief (Barton prologue). Later in Barton s story the man grows up and becomes a
business man, and again finds him self confronted by Jesus, only now he is old enough to read it for
himself and this time he doesn t see Jesus as a weakling at all. Now he sees him as a successful
carpenter who is both mentally and physically strong as well as a great leader. He also realizes the
great feat Jesus has accomplished as well as the methods he used to accomplish this feat. Methods
Barton felt every business man should know about. Barton concludes this explanation by telling us
how he waited for someone to write a book relating Jesus work to modern day business, and how
when no one did he decided to write it himself. And with that he set out to write what he called the
story of the founder of modern business Jesus Christ.
At first glance Barton use of a parable seemed un important but as I read on I realized his intent in

The Impact Of The Berlin Wall
The Berlin Wall divided Germany into the East and West because of opposing ideas of the future for
Germany. Germany was weak and pliable after barely surviving Nazi Germany, so the vulnerable
country could have been formed into anything and the major powers knew this. The Soviet Union
wanted a communist Germany and the major democracies America, Britain, and France wanted a
democratic Germany. Because of these opposing ideas, Germany was split into the East and West,
each living an entirely different life depending on the country of influence. When the Berlin Wall fell,
though, neither side was as it was before; the country had changed in almost every way. This essay
analyzes how the Berlin Wall changed Germany, focusing on Berlin, in many different aspects and
lenses. The essay will examine how the people, the economy, the government, religion, and literature
were affected by this great divide. This essay will also explain how America influenced German
culture through integrating Western culture during the Wall in the West and after the Wall in both
sides. To what extent was Germany, especially Berlin, similar and different politically, economically,
and culturally from how it was before the Berlin Wall was built to when it was torn down?

Who Is Willa Cather s Admiration In My Antonia
Willa Cather has a strong admiration for the character Antonia in My Antonia. The introduction of My
Antonia states that the narrator and Jim were to write down all they knew of her in order to maybe get
a picture of her. I believe this strong admiration is because of the characteristics that are shown by
Antonia throughout the story. She is a hardworking girl that belongs to a Bohemian family who has
started a farm in Nebraska. Not only is she hard working but throughout the story she shows
characteristics of being strong both inside and out. Also, it is very apparent that she wants to be
independent and make her own decisions. I think Willa Cather admires the character Antonia because
she can, in a way, reflect on her characteristics

Examples Of Individualism In Bartleby The Scrivener
Colton Cummins
Professor Stief
ENGL 2327.702 American Literature To 1865
10 December 2017
(Title)
Gender was a massive factor for writers in the 19th century, as Herman Melville explores in Bartleby,
the Scrivener. In Bartleby, the Scrivener, Herman Melville presents Bartleby as an employed scrivener.
He is the person that copies documents for the narrator in the story. This work was not uncommon for
someone like Bartleby in the 19th century society. The society approved of the male professional
writer, but Bartleby refused this profession and through his I would prefer not to statements, he
challenges the standards held to him by society, reinforcing his individualism. In Bartleby, the
Scrivener, multiple examples imply acceptance of writing as a male profession. For example, what
seems to be everyone at the office is men. At the period just preceding the advent of Bartleby, I had
two persons as copyists in my employment, and a promising lad as an office boy. First, Turkey;
second, Nippers; third, Ginger Nut (Melville ). This shows that the office is comprised of men
including Turkey, Ginger Nut, Nippers, and also the narrator when he states he is a rather elderly man
(1). From this, you can see that this work environment is more of a place for men rather than women.
The narrator also mentioned men being the main workers earlier in the story. The narrator states, The
nature of my avocations for the last thirty years has brought me more than ordinary contact with an
interesting set of men I mean the law copyists, or scriveners (3). Through his labor in law, and through
the years of employing scriveners, he has only come in contact with him. Women weren t considered
upon any mention of the scrivener s position as well as professional writers. Also, Turkey and Nippers
were actual copyists, but the young Ginger Nut is the promising lad as an office boy. They are
teaching Ginger Nut the ropes and hope that he also becomes a copyist. Ginger Nut isn t a perfect
candidate because he is an aspiring writer, but mainly because he is a male, and would, therefore, fit
the standard set by society and the narrator. Furthermore, the Narrator gives nicknames to his three
employees, which can be

The Role Of Mitochondrial Respiration In Macrophages
Mitochondrial respiration is the final process of metabolic reactions to generate biological energy
(ATP) along with glycolysis and Krebs cycle. Mitochondrial respiration is critical not only host
immune cells to limit the IVI but also influenza virus to replicate the genes for survival by exploiting
energy source. Interestingly, influenza virus leads hypoactive mitochondrial respiration in epithelial
cells but causes hyperactive mitochondrial respiration in immune cells, especially macrophages, so
that stimulates the generation of ROS and antiviral signaling pathways. Thus, regulation of
mitochondrial respiration in alveolar macrophages can be a potential target of IVI. Recent evidences
suggested that miRNAs can modulate mitochondrial respiration

Teenage Abortions
Charlene Mays
Professor H.
English 1C
23 March 2010
Risk in Teenage Abortions Teenagers should not be allowed to have abortions. There are too many
risk; abortions can cause young women infertility, meaning they will not be able to have kids. Young
women young women have to deal with extreme fetal pain during an abortion process; there is also the
probability that some can die right there on the table and have drastic changes in there hormones.
Studies have proven that abortions can lead to an increased chance of breast cancer, Pelvic
Inflammatory disease, and the contraction of Viral Hepatitis due to excessive bleeding and
complications. We as teenagers also need to learn to grow up and take care of our responsibities Teen

So why do they occur so often? They occur because people realize that they do not want to have a
child for a number of different reasons from an inability to afford one to the potential change it causes
to the female body. Nonetheless, the decision is not made because of the fear of the mother losing her
life or any of the predominant explanations for the occurrence of abortions. At the root of the
occurrence of so many abortions is the inability of individuals in society to take responsibility for their
actions. Bearing children is the natural result of sexual intercourse under favorable conditions, it is not
forced upon women by the United States government. I am forced to wonder: If a woman has a history
of bad decisions which cause her an unwanted pregnancy, why should our society trust her to take the
welfare of the child into account and trust her not make the abortion decision? Still, though it is clear
that women have made choices that put them in the position of being pregnant, it is worthwhile to
repeat a few reasons why abortion is an abhorrent murder of a baby. When a teenager gets pregnant
there young bodies open up to a lot of diseases. They can contract Pelvic Inflammatory Disease, and
the contraction of Viral Hepatitis due to excessive bleeding and complications. There is a possibility
that teenagers can die on the table or to have drastic fetal pain. During the

Junie B Jones Character Analysis
The Destructive Influence of Junie B. Jones The Junie B. Jones series has become extremely popular
over the years. There are many people that love the stories because of how witty Junie B. is. It is also
true that a large number of children can connect with her since Barbra Park created the series with
Junie B. speaking in first person as the narrator. However, there are a lot of concerns with the amount
of disrespect seen by Junie. Additionally, there could be an educational confusion for children who are
trying to learn to read and pronounce words correctly. The Junie B. Jones series basically glorifies
being bad, not listening to adults and using language that a five or six year old should not be using.
The ruthless actions and improper usage of communication by Junie B. in the Junie B. Jones series can
be very confusing and misleading for the young children that are expected to read these books.
Character Choices The different types of characters in Junie B. Jones and a Little Monkey Business
play important roles in the story. The diverse age groups help to show how Junie B. is disrespectful to
all of those that surround her. The main characters are Junie B. Jones, Mother, Daddy, Grampa Miller,
Grandma Miller, Lucille, that Grace, Mrs., that mean Jim, Ollie and the principle. These characters are
very effective because they add to the story in their own individual ways. They were made to help
keep the audience laughing, but in reality they just help by adding more people that Junie B. is
disrespectful to in the story.
Ruthless Actions
Junie B. is characterized as an ungrateful and spoiled child. With that being said, many people believe
that the actions of Junie B. Jones are minor and can be seen as fun and playful since her age. However,
these are not the average actions of the well mannered six and seven year olds that may be reading the
books. The way that the story is written makes children think that it is okay to have unacceptable
behavior at a very young age. Junie B. continuously acts out and is regularly disobedient. The series
more or less makes light of bad behavior. It is supposed to be funny when Junie B. does not respond to
her parents when they are trying to speak to her, or when she

The aim of this chapter is to validate the method of the research which will be used in this study. The
different type of ploy that will be used in delivering this research will be explained and the chosen
strategy will also be highlighted. There will also be an explanation on the rationale for selection. Also
in this chapter, I will explain comprehensively the merits and demerits of the method chosen and
highlight various ways which this dissertation will be undertaken alongside the referencing to enhance
validity and reliability. The approach of the research and the paradigm of the research will be briefly
explained and the various data source will be identified.
3.1 RESEARCH PHILOSOPHY
3.1.1 RESEARCH PARADIGM
A research paradigm can be described as a framework which philosophically pilots the way scientific
research should be implemented. However, Oxford Dictionary and Thesaurus (1997), defined the term
philosophy as the obtaining truth and knowledge though the use of reason and argument . There are
two major types of paradigms described by Collins and Hussey (2009).
Positivist Research: These research paradigm is based on the hypothesis that fact is objective and
singular and altered by the act of fact finding. Under this type of research method, the basis of
clarification is supplied by theories, allows anticipation and also allows them to be controlled (Collins
and Hussey, (2009). Presently, business research conducted by researchers under a

Voodoo In Colonial America
The slave trade started not very long after the discovery of America. Millions of people were captured
in Africa and sold in America. By the end of eighteenth century after almost 3 centuries of Africans
being brought to the Americas there was a population of almost 3,ooo,ooo. In 1697 Hispaniola became
American s leading producer of sugar and had the most slaves. The conditions of the slaves became
repulsive over 20% of slaves were dying just on the boat rides over. The ones that survived the ride
over showed up to auctions exhausted. At auctions they were then separated from their families and
they would probably never see them again. Slaves were taken to their owners land were they would be
forced to work till it killed them and were beaten and killed if under working. As the African

Teenagers and Short Text Messaging
EXECUTIVE SUMMARY Text messaging is the most widely used data appliance in the world, with
2.4 billion users, or 74% of all mobile phone subscribers (Tedeschi, 2008). Market analysis reveals
that consumers purchase phone applications readily because it is effortless to download an application
onto their mobile phone and also since cash out of pocket is not required, it simply gets added to their
phone bill. Teenagers represent the largest spectrum of these consumers, who are eager to show off the
stunning features of their new phone to their peers. Parents typically pay the cost of their cell phone
plans and typically are unaware of small charges made on the account. Most phone application
downloads range from free demos to $9.99 pricing. As this venture is maintained via the internet and
cell phone, little to no overhead is required. Most of the costs of goods sold are represented in the
marketing of the product. With grant backing from the National Science Foundation, Venture Capital
investors and built in licensing fees paid direct; TravellingWave can expect a high profit margin with
no initial investment required. This analysis will show how the VoicePredict product will be successful
in market penetration. COMPANY DESCRIPTION TravellingWave develops software, using voice
recognition technology, for entering text into mobile cellular devices. The technology combines voice
recognition with keystrokes or touch gestures, to accelerate text input resulting in

Movie Stand And Deliver As An Excellent Teacher
I would rate Mr. Escalante as depicted in the movie Stand and Deliver as an excellent teacher! Ron
Clark a renown and excellent teacher in his own right, states there are 11 characteristics that should be
found in every teacher who is raising children who love to learn. These characteristics included
enthusiasm, adventure, creativity, balance, compassionate, fun, common sense, appreciation, resilience
and accountable. I observed every one of these characteristics in the character of Mr. Escalante in the
movie Stand and Deliver. In the beginning of the movie, as Mr. Escalante began this experience, I do
not believe he knew things were as bad as what he encountered on the first day of school. Classrooms
with graffiti on the inside, insufficient chairs for the number of students assigned in the classroom,
high school students attending school without school supplies, students vandalizing their school and
defecating in the office, rigging the bell to completely disrupt the school day, even students inside the
classroom without any desire to learn.
I would not be intimidated by Mr. Escalante s techniques. I have the utmost respect for teachers who
are willing to go outside the norm to teach children. Mr. Escalante believed that there was only one
thing that was needed for the children to succeed, ganas. It was all he told the Principal he needed and
all he asked for the students You re going to work harder here than you ve ever worked anywhere else.
And the only thing

The Downfall of Brutus
The Downfall of Brutus The play, The Tragedy of Julius Caesar, by William Shakespeare, has two
main tragic heroes. Set in Rome and spanning from forty four to forty two B.C., the play tells of
Brutus and Caesar whom both fall from the highest positions to the lowest of misfortune and then are
enlightened on their mistakes. Brutus is the stronger example of a tragic hero in this story. Throughout
this play, Brutus commits many faults, falls more drastically than all other characters, and regrets his
previous actions by the end of the play. Brutus commits three costly mistakes during the play. The first
mistake that he makes is that he participates in the assassination of Julius Caesar. People, and senators,
be not affrighted. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He wishes that he had never fallen for Cassius s insidious plan to assassinate Caesar, Caesar, now be
still; / I killed not thee with half so good a will (997). He regrets, that through these actions, he
destroys his name and his stature. Brutus, scrutinizing all of his mistakes, and wishing that he had
done things differently verifies that he is the main tragic hero in this classic work. Through these final
moments of Brutus s life, the audience of the play can truly see that Brutus is not lying about his love
of Caesar, but that he honestly regrets participating, and is sympathetic about the last years of his life.
Brutus, even though he has made many mistakes throughout his life, he makes one final one with his
last action. Unfortunately, the audience does not know whether or not he regrets committing suicide.
Had he not done so, Antony most likely would have restored some of his stature in Rome, and granted
him his life, This was the noblest Roman of them all. / All the conspirators save only he / Did that they
did in envy of great Caesar; / He, only in a general honest thought / And common good to all, made
one of them (998). It is clear that Antony is saddened by the loss of Brutus, because he realizes the
true meaning of Brutus s actions. In conclusion, Brutus is the tragic hero in this play because of the
mistakes that he makes, the fall that he takes, and the regrets that he feels after. Brutus will forever be

Multicultural Resetting
In order to develop a deeper sense of awareness about the challenges of working with children within
a multicultural resetting, and also to further develop my inclusive research, choosing a methodology
was an essential step together with understanding different criteria for the assessment of educational
research as discussed in Teaching and Learning Research Briefing , no 80, 2009. But before deciding
on a methodology for this project, it is important to mention that the scope of my investigation is not
finding a solution to a problem, but rather learning about potential issues related to working with
children in a multicultural nursery setting, and problematise the diversity and inclusion aspects
derived from this using critical thinking and academic research methodology. The process of research
required an approach to interviewing, mainly the necessity to plan and conduct a narrative interview,
which can be defined by an interaction or dialogue with one or more individuals in order to build a
narration of their lives within a certain environment. (Soler, 2013) A narrative based methodology in
the form of conducting interviews to research diversity and inclusion have been successfully used for
different levels of research and key studies (Nutbrown and Clough, 2006). ... Show more content on

A Short Note On Migraine s Effect Of Migraine For...
Migraine Scientific Research Proposal
Based on Measuring the Impact of Migraine for Evaluating Outcomes of Preventative Treatments for
Migraine Headaches. Authors: Sally Mannix, Anne Skalicky, Dawn Buse, Pooja Desai, Sandhya
Sapra, Brain Ortmeier, Katherine Widnell and Asha Hareendran. Publication Date: 2016, Bio Med
Central. Pages 1 11.
Question to be Investigated
Multiple people with migraines experience many difficulties that affect their daily life, overall
contentment of life, ability to live life fully because of the symptoms associate with a migraine
headache. With little support and evidence, it is difficult to find a natural approach to migraine
treatment and to provide relief. If a migraine can be treated naturally, what steps will need to be taken
by the individuals who are seeking relief from migraine pain and improve quality of life?
Hypothesis and Prediction
If environmental factors can cause a migraine attack then changes in an individuals sleep cycle,
food/drink, hormones, external stimuli, weather changes and stress levels will be able to lessen the
severity of a migraine, lessen the symptoms or completely prevent a migraine attack. If the hypothesis
that environmental factors cause a migraine attack is positively supported, then the results will be that
the symptoms of a migraine have

Safety Procedures On And Off The Water
Safety We continue our educational and training sessions for our staff on all safety procedures on and
off the water. Over the past two months we have hosted regular first aid and CPR training. As the
venue grows the need for in house security has became a priority. Over the past two years we have
outsourced security. Beginning this month we will have one full time and one part time officer on
staff. We are estimating to have a budget saving with in house security. Operations Flood Recovery
During the recent flooding, we sustained damage to equipment, racecourse and docks. While majority
of the damage is covered under the Foundations insurance we do have several items that were not.
One of our large gangways south of the Chesapeake Boathouse washed off of its foundations. Both
Universities docks were washed out for the inlets and are considered a total lose. The foundation has
been working closely with both Universities and the dock manufacture to replace the dock system.
Both Universities have filed claims with FEMA for disaster relieve and are currently working through
the process. We too, filed a claim with FEMA but under the Non Profit guidelines we only qualify for
debris removal and emergency preventive maintenance funding. We will be submitting our staffing
cost for debris removal under the FEMA guidelines. The racecourse was not a total lose and we are
currently working with our insurance company to recover those loses. Lake Overhoulser

  • 2. The Power Of A Group The power of a group is immense. Although composed of individuals, a group functions as a separate entity, and it bears the capability to heavily influence the thoughts and actions of its members. This manipulation can alter the perception of the entire group and, as a result, lead to a psychological phenomenon known as groupthink . Research psychologist, Irving Janis, defined groupthink as . . . a deterioration in mental efficiency, reality testing and moral judgments as a result of group pressures (84). Janis further categorized groupthink into eight symptoms, spanning three types; overestimation of the group, close mindedness, and pressure toward uniformity (Rose 38). And so, violence, arson, and stealing may have been viewed as mainly positive, because it was done in the name of Gray. However, Gray s mother did not see it that way, saying I want y all to get justice for my son, but don t do it like this here (Yan and Ford). For protesters, Gray s death was seen as worthy of such an extreme response. Type two, close mindedness, mainly sees a group disregarding outside opinions. In August of 2016, Milwaukee Journal Sentinel staff reported riots breaking out in Milwaukee after officers shot and killed armed suspect Syville Smith (Glauber et al.). With the exception of serious harm toward officers, events occurred similar to that of the Baltimore riots. The factor that distinguished the two was the protester s stereotyping of out groups . Which is described as a refusal to reason with out groups due to stereotypes (Janis 86). Intern for the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel and Asian American, Aaron Mak experienced this directly. Beowulf is the protagonist in the adventure and has a clearly defined counterpart: Grendel; the evil entity. This can be compared to a specifically recent event: the Las Vegas terror attack. • 6. Comparative Analysis Of Antibiotic Growth Of... Matthew Crane Lab Section: 13151 Comparative Analysis of Antibiotic Growth Suppression of Staphylococcus Aureus Introduction Staphylococcus Aureus is a gram negative bacterium that may be pathogenic or exist as a commensal organism in humans. Unevolved strains are susceptible to nearly all antibiotics (Chambers DeLeo, 2009). Among the many antibiotic options, penicillin is particularly effective against S. Aureus. This is due to the mechanism of action by which penicillin replaces key structures in the bacterial cell wall that are essential to growth and repair. By preventing this cell maintenance, penicillin promotes osmotic instability in the cell and greatly increases the likelihood of cell death (Strominger Tipper 1965). In a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Recent research by Khokhlova et al. found that MRSA cases among S. Aureus isolates across Siberia were found at a rate of 22% in hospitals, compared to a community infection rate of 2.9% (2015). Traditional antibiotic treatments such as penicillin are often proven ineffective in these cases, as in the case of Fomda et al., which found a resistance rate of 85.46% at a tertiary care hospital (2014). The goal of this experiment is to determine whether different antibiotics will inhibit bacterial growth of S. Aureus. The hypothesis is that all three antibiotics used (penicillin, gentamicin, and kanamycin) will inhibit growth. If a zone of inhibition is observed around each antibiotic disk, then the hypothesis will be supported demonstrating the bacteria s susceptibility to the subject antibiotics. By demonstrating the efficacy of various different antibiotics and comparing them to one another in context of the target bacteria, combined with the gram stain results of S. Aureus, the results may be further analyzed and explained. Methods Five agar plates were prepared with evenly distributed S. Aureus bacteria. After being marked into four equal quadrants, an antibiotic disk was gently placed in each section of each plate. The levels of treatment in the 4 disks were 10 micrograms of gentamicin, 10 micrograms of penicillin, and 30 micrograms of kanamycin, with a control group of an identical ... Educational levels for community members are relatively low, and much of the workforce in the area comes from manufacturing facilities. This suggests that at minimum, there is a need for 205 new beds within Hillsboro County. Assessing the county population for a 4.31% growth in the over 65 age group (which is a low estimate, due to the large 45 64 group within the county), and including an additional facility for the Carter Village s 110 new assisted living program, the number of available beds in 5 years appears to be 686, compared to a demand of 814. Although this facility appears to assist this problem, there still is a need for 128 additional beds for long term care. Again, this is a low estimate, due to the long term care facilities are not necessarily accessible to everyone in the county, as Senior Living of Mifflenville is a private facility, and it does not appear to meet the needs of many of the people who would require Nursing Home Care. This also accounts for 170 of the available beds within the county, which indicates that there is a high need than the aforementioned estimate. To add an additional 128 bed facility in the county could prove to meet a high need within the county. • 14. Sense Of Sublimity In Alfred Hitchcock s The Birds Popular phrases such as Well, that s beyond me . . . What racks my brain is . . . or I can t wrap my head around that are simple contemporary idioms inadvertently attempting to communicate a sense of confusion, wonder, and admiration, though not without a touch of fear (Janowitz). Words perhaps not commonly used to describe Alfred Hitchcock s classic which is nearing its fifty fifth birthday. Yet, the campy, middle aged, prototypal film remains unsettling, frightening, and substantially sublime. Therefore, what exactly cements this film in infamy? What makes its presence essential to the libraries of eco critic s far and wide? Well, The Birds utilizes Hitchcock s crafty use of common cinematic techniques to conjure a sustaining sense of sublimity; the bird s infiniteness, their bouts of terrorism, and their symbolism illustrates several character s conflicts and loss of power permeating throughout the film with climatic moments illuminated by his many artful methods. For instance, Hitchcock initially builds a sense of sublimity by accumulating birds in a way that represent the incomprehensibility and infiniteness of nature a characteristic of a sublimity. His attempt to illustrate infinity fills the mind with a sort of delightful horror (Burke). The choice to reiterate the very concept is shown in the first setting in which the movie takes place: San Francisco. A place crowded with people, architecture, and a general absence of nature only shown to be caged or encircling the citizens below. The birds are suspiciously swarming the sky and only one citizens take notice the main character, Melanie. She is particularly caught by the commotion in the sky pausing to ponder their existence, only briefly, and then finally entering the bird shop. This minor event is important to the foreshadowing of dramatic action and the explanation of the bird s existence. Nonetheless, a better more riveting technique is explored later in the film. Hitchcock s ability to accumulate suspense not only throughout his film but in compressed context, too, is impressive. The famous scene where Melanie is waiting for Mitch s sister to be released from school exemplifies his ability. The dramatic irony of the scene is the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The idea behind this Buy Nothing Day is to increase citizen awareness of environmental and ethical consequences that come with too much consumerism; however, many feel it will severely hurt small businesses. Nevertheless, the concept behind a day without spending is a great way to control consumer rates as long as those who choose to partake are prepared to go a whole day with no transactions. Because of these opposing ideas, Germany was split into the East and West, each living an entirely different life depending on the country of influence. This essay analyzes how the Berlin Wall changed Germany, focusing on Berlin, in many different aspects and lenses. The essay will examine how the people, the economy, the government, religion, and literature were affected by this great divide. Examples Of Individualism In Bartleby The Scrivener Colton Cummins Professor Stief ENGL 2327.702 American Literature To 1865 10 December 2017 (Title) Gender was a massive factor for writers in the 19th century, as Herman Melville explores in Bartleby, the Scrivener. In Bartleby, the Scrivener, Herman Melville presents Bartleby as an employed scrivener. He is the person that copies documents for the narrator in the story. This work was not uncommon for someone like Bartleby in the 19th century society. The society approved of the male professional writer, but Bartleby refused this profession and through his I would prefer not to statements, he challenges the standards held to him by society, reinforcing his individualism. In Bartleby, the Scrivener, multiple examples imply acceptance of writing as a male profession. For example, what seems to be everyone at the office is men. At the period just preceding the advent of Bartleby, I had two persons as copyists in my employment, and a promising lad as an office boy. First, Turkey; second, Nippers; third, Ginger Nut (Melville ). This shows that the office is comprised of men including Turkey, Ginger Nut, Nippers, and also the narrator when he states he is a rather elderly man (1). From this, you can see that this work environment is more of a place for men rather than women. The narrator also mentioned men being the main workers earlier in the story. The narrator states, The nature of my avocations for the last thirty years has brought me more than ordinary contact with an interesting set of men I mean the law copyists, or scriveners (3). Through his labor in law, and through the years of employing scriveners, he has only come in contact with him. Women weren t considered upon any mention of the scrivener s position as well as professional writers. Also, Turkey and Nippers were actual copyists, but the young Ginger Nut is the promising lad as an office boy. They are teaching Ginger Nut the ropes and hope that he also becomes a copyist. Ginger Nut isn t a perfect candidate because he is an aspiring writer, but mainly because he is a male, and would, therefore, fit the standard set by society and the narrator. Furthermore, the Narrator gives nicknames to his three employees, which can be ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 24. The Role Of Mitochondrial Respiration In Macrophages Mitochondrial respiration is the final process of metabolic reactions to generate biological energy (ATP) along with glycolysis and Krebs cycle. Mitochondrial respiration is critical not only host immune cells to limit the IVI but also influenza virus to replicate the genes for survival by exploiting energy source. Interestingly, influenza virus leads hypoactive mitochondrial respiration in epithelial cells but causes hyperactive mitochondrial respiration in immune cells, especially macrophages, so that stimulates the generation of ROS and antiviral signaling pathways. Thus, regulation of mitochondrial respiration in alveolar macrophages can be a potential target of IVI. Recent evidences suggested that miRNAs can modulate mitochondrial respiration ... There are too many risk; abortions can cause young women infertility, meaning they will not be able to have kids. Young women young women have to deal with extreme fetal pain during an abortion process; there is also the probability that some can die right there on the table and have drastic changes in there hormones. They occur because people realize that they do not want to have a child for a number of different reasons from an inability to afford one to the potential change it causes to the female body. Nonetheless, the decision is not made because of the fear of the mother losing her life or any of the predominant explanations for the occurrence of abortions. At the root of the occurrence of so many abortions is the inability of individuals in society to take responsibility for their actions. Bearing children is the natural result of sexual intercourse under favorable conditions, it is not forced upon women by the United States government. I am forced to wonder: If a woman has a history of bad decisions which cause her an unwanted pregnancy, why should our society trust her to take the welfare of the child into account and trust her not make the abortion decision? Still, though it is clear that women have made choices that put them in the position of being pregnant, it is worthwhile to repeat a few reasons why abortion is an abhorrent murder of a baby. When a teenager gets pregnant there young bodies open up to a lot of diseases. They can contract Pelvic Inflammatory Disease, and the contraction of Viral Hepatitis due to excessive bleeding and complications. There is a possibility that teenagers can die on the table or to have drastic fetal pain. During the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 26. Junie B Jones Character Analysis The Destructive Influence of Junie B. Jones The Junie B. Jones series has become extremely popular over the years. There are many people that love the stories because of how witty Junie B. is. It is also true that a large number of children can connect with her since Barbra Park created the series with Junie B. speaking in first person as the narrator. However, there are a lot of concerns with the amount of disrespect seen by Junie. Additionally, there could be an educational confusion for children who are trying to learn to read and pronounce words correctly. The Junie B. Jones series basically glorifies being bad, not listening to adults and using language that a five or six year old should not be using. The ruthless actions and improper usage of communication by Junie B. in the Junie B. Jones series can be very confusing and misleading for the young children that are expected to read these books. Character Choices The different types of characters in Junie B. Jones and a Little Monkey Business play important roles in the story. The diverse age groups help to show how Junie B. is disrespectful to all of those that surround her. The main characters are Junie B. Jones, Mother, Daddy, Grampa Miller, Grandma Miller, Lucille, that Grace, Mrs., that mean Jim, Ollie and the principle. These characters are very effective because they add to the story in their own individual ways. They were made to help keep the audience laughing, but in reality they just help by adding more people that Junie B. is disrespectful to in the story. Ruthless Actions Junie B. is characterized as an ungrateful and spoiled child. With that being said, many people believe that the actions of Junie B. Jones are minor and can be seen as fun and playful since her age. However, these are not the average actions of the well mannered six and seven year olds that may be reading the books. The way that the story is written makes children think that it is okay to have unacceptable behavior at a very young age. Junie B. continuously acts out and is regularly disobedient. The series more or less makes light of bad behavior. It is supposed to be funny when Junie B. does not respond to her parents when they are trying to speak to her, or when she ... The different type of ploy that will be used in delivering this research will be explained and the chosen strategy will also be highlighted. There will also be an explanation on the rationale for selection. Also in this chapter, I will explain comprehensively the merits and demerits of the method chosen and highlight various ways which this dissertation will be undertaken alongside the referencing to enhance validity and reliability. The approach of the research and the paradigm of the research will be briefly explained and the various data source will be identified. 3.1 RESEARCH PHILOSOPHY 3.1.1 RESEARCH PARADIGM A research paradigm can be described as a framework which philosophically pilots the way scientific research should be implemented. However, Oxford Dictionary and Thesaurus (1997), defined the term philosophy as the obtaining truth and knowledge though the use of reason and argument . There are two major types of paradigms described by Collins and Hussey (2009). Positivist Research: These research paradigm is based on the hypothesis that fact is objective and singular and altered by the act of fact finding. Under this type of research method, the basis of clarification is supplied by theories, allows anticipation and also allows them to be controlled (Collins and Hussey, (2009). • 29. Teenagers and Short Text Messaging EXECUTIVE SUMMARY Text messaging is the most widely used data appliance in the world, with 2.4 billion users, or 74% of all mobile phone subscribers (Tedeschi, 2008). Market analysis reveals that consumers purchase phone applications readily because it is effortless to download an application onto their mobile phone and also since cash out of pocket is not required, it simply gets added to their phone bill. Teenagers represent the largest spectrum of these consumers, who are eager to show off the stunning features of their new phone to their peers. Parents typically pay the cost of their cell phone plans and typically are unaware of small charges made on the account. Most phone application downloads range from free demos to $9.99 pricing. As this venture is maintained via the internet and cell phone, little to no overhead is required. Most of the costs of goods sold are represented in the marketing of the product. With grant backing from the National Science Foundation, Venture Capital investors and built in licensing fees paid direct; TravellingWave can expect a high profit margin with no initial investment required. • 30. Movie Stand And Deliver As An Excellent Teacher I would rate Mr. Escalante as depicted in the movie Stand and Deliver as an excellent teacher! Ron Clark a renown and excellent teacher in his own right, states there are 11 characteristics that should be found in every teacher who is raising children who love to learn. These characteristics included enthusiasm, adventure, creativity, balance, compassionate, fun, common sense, appreciation, resilience and accountable. I observed every one of these characteristics in the character of Mr. Escalante in the movie Stand and Deliver. In the beginning of the movie, as Mr. Escalante began this experience, I do not believe he knew things were as bad as what he encountered on the first day of school. Classrooms with graffiti on the inside, insufficient chairs for the number of students assigned in the classroom, high school students attending school without school supplies, students vandalizing their school and defecating in the office, rigging the bell to completely disrupt the school day, even students inside the classroom without any desire to learn. I would not be intimidated by Mr. Escalante s techniques. I have the utmost respect for teachers who are willing to go outside the norm to teach children. Mr. Escalante believed that there was only one thing that was needed for the children to succeed, ganas. It was all he told the Principal he needed and all he asked for the students You re going to work harder here than you ve ever worked anywhere else. And the only thing ... • 31. The Downfall of Brutus The Downfall of Brutus The play, The Tragedy of Julius Caesar, by William Shakespeare, has two main tragic heroes. Set in Rome and spanning from forty four to forty two B.C., the play tells of Brutus and Caesar whom both fall from the highest positions to the lowest of misfortune and then are enlightened on their mistakes. Brutus is the stronger example of a tragic hero in this story. Throughout this play, Brutus commits many faults, falls more drastically than all other characters, and regrets his previous actions by the end of the play. Brutus commits three costly mistakes during the play. The first mistake that he makes is that he participates in the assassination of Julius Caesar. People, and senators, be not affrighted. ... He wishes that he had never fallen for Cassius s insidious plan to assassinate Caesar, Caesar, now be still; / I killed not thee with half so good a will (997). He regrets, that through these actions, he destroys his name and his stature. Brutus, scrutinizing all of his mistakes, and wishing that he had done things differently verifies that he is the main tragic hero in this classic work. Through these final moments of Brutus s life, the audience of the play can truly see that Brutus is not lying about his love of Caesar, but that he honestly regrets participating, and is sympathetic about the last years of his life. Brutus, even though he has made many mistakes throughout his life, he makes one final one with his last action. Unfortunately, the audience does not know whether or not he regrets committing suicide. Had he not done so, Antony most likely would have restored some of his stature in Rome, and granted him his life, This was the noblest Roman of them all. / All the conspirators save only he / Did that they did in envy of great Caesar; / He, only in a general honest thought / And common good to all, made one of them (998). It is clear that Antony is saddened by the loss of Brutus, because he realizes the true meaning of Brutus s actions. In conclusion, Brutus is the tragic hero in this play because of the mistakes that he makes, the fall that he takes, and the regrets that he feels after. Brutus will forever be labeled as a ... • 32. Multicultural Resetting In order to develop a deeper sense of awareness about the challenges of working with children within a multicultural resetting, and also to further develop my inclusive research, choosing a methodology was an essential step together with understanding different criteria for the assessment of educational research as discussed in Teaching and Learning Research Briefing , no 80, 2009. But before deciding on a methodology for this project, it is important to mention that the scope of my investigation is not finding a solution to a problem, but rather learning about potential issues related to working with children in a multicultural nursery setting, and problematise the diversity and inclusion aspects derived from this using critical thinking and academic research methodology. The process of research required an approach to interviewing, mainly the necessity to plan and conduct a narrative interview, which can be defined by an interaction or dialogue with one or more individuals in order to build a narration of their lives within a certain environment. (Soler, 2013) A narrative based methodology in the form of conducting interviews to research diversity and inclusion have been successfully used for different levels of research and key studies (Nutbrown and Clough, 2006). ...
