ADVERTISING?
• Advertising is the communication relayed from
companies to persuade an audience to purchase or
patronize their products.
• Communication is usually through various forms of
paid media:

oRadio commercials
oPrint Ads
oBillboards
oDigital platforms, and more
ADVERTISING?
Let’s start with simple definitions:
1. The manufacturer or provider of goods and services would be referred to as
THE ADVERTISER or, may be, THE MARKETING COMPANY.
2. The organization providing advertising services is THE ADVERTISING
AGENCY.
3. ADVERTISING itself is the communication link between the product or
service and the consumer.
4. The MEDIA OR CHANNELS OF COMMUNICATION of course would include
newspapers and magazines, radio, television, posters and everything that
can be used to inform the customer about a product or service.
WHAT DOES IT TAKE TO BE IN
ADVERTISING?
1. “First and foremost, you need to have a genuine passion for
advertising. Passionate people breathe enthusiasm
2. It may be a cliché but: Believe in what you do! If you don’t believe in what
you do you'll find it much harder to succeed in the profession
3. You need to be a team player. No advertising campaign is developed from
brief to final execution by one person. Being able to form strong working
relationships is essential
4. Good analytical skills and the ability to communicate your ideas
convincingly will be vital
WHAT DOES IT TAKES TO BE IN ADVERTISING?
What it takes…
5. You'll also need to be extremely organized
6. You've got to show a healthy amount of intellect or
common sense and initiative
7. Be curious. Remember that acquiring knowledge is a
lifelong activity, not something that ends with a college
degree. ‘Got to be open to learning.

  • 18. ADVERTISING? • Advertising is the communication relayed from companies to persuade an audience to purchase or patronize their products. • Communication is usually through various forms of paid media: oTV oRadio commercials oPrint Ads oBillboards oDigital platforms, and more
  • 19. ADVERTISING? Let’s start with simple definitions: 1. The manufacturer or provider of goods and services would be referred to as THE ADVERTISER or, may be, THE MARKETING COMPANY. 2. The organization providing advertising services is THE ADVERTISING AGENCY. 3. ADVERTISING itself is the communication link between the product or service and the consumer. 4. The MEDIA OR CHANNELS OF COMMUNICATION of course would include newspapers and magazines, radio, television, posters and everything that can be used to inform the customer about a product or service.

  • 21. 1. “First and foremost, you need to have a genuine passion for advertising. Passionate people breathe enthusiasm 2. It may be a cliché but: Believe in what you do! If you don’t believe in what you do you'll find it much harder to succeed in the profession 3. You need to be a team player. No advertising campaign is developed from brief to final execution by one person. Being able to form strong working relationships is essential 4. Good analytical skills and the ability to communicate your ideas convincingly will be vital WHAT DOES IT TAKES TO BE IN ADVERTISING?
