 RELIABILITY AND VALIDITY
 Reliability is the consistency of the
assessment in producing the same score on
different testing occasion
 Validity however is the extent in which it is
to measure what is supposed to be measured
 Reliability has a feature of the appropriate
consistency of assessment, called inter-rater-
reability
 It is the absolutely important onein which itis to
ensure both the consistency and fairness of rating
 The feature applies a scoring rubric for each macro
skill or major aspect of English skill
 The scoring rubric contains 4-6 levels from the
early to exceptionally fluent
 In order to apply the reability using scoring
rubric by another teacher (unexperienced
teacher), staff developer or teacher can be
the facilitator for training raters, here are
the considerations:
 Orientation to the assessment task
 Clarification of the scoring rubric
 Practice scoring
 Record the scores
 Check reability
 Next step of authentic assessment is
“Grading”
 It is systematically formed as a report card
 It functions as a part of communication
among teachers, students and parents
 The grade it self has 2 basic purposes, what
are they? Anyone can answer them?
 It reflects students accomplishment and to
motivatestudents
 It is meant as the level or rank order of students
performance
 In the report card, we can review some learning
factors, considered such as:
 Level of effort
 Attitute
 Ability
 Behavior
 attendance
 Now everybody must have understood the
reability in authentic assessment, don’t they?
 Then, let;s move on to the next topic
discussion
 VALIDITY has two most concern types inthe
authentic assessment
 Content validity,the respondence between
curriculum objectives and objective being
assessed.
 consequential validity, thw way in which the
assessment is used for benefiting teaching
and learning process and to benefit students
