TEACHER AND PARENTAL INVOLVEMENT
LABORATORIES AND COMPUTING FACILITIES
Presented to :
Dr. Khalid Rashid
Presented by:
Muhammad Shoaib
“The teacher is a diplomat and
ambassador of tact and sensitivity, as
he/she facilitates productive, positive
interactions among the multiplicity of
personalities, cultures, beliefs and
ideals”.
A teacher is a facilitator of learning and
of the development of the youth; he
shall, therefore, render the best services
by providing an environment conducive
to such learning and growth.
Teacher and it’s role
The school and the community are on the “front lines” of the
teacher’s educational reach.
The school serves as the center for educational pursuits
while the institutions and establishments of the community
serve as extended learning centers and sources of
instructional materials
Teachers in the schools continue to enrich the students’
experiences , thus strengthening the valuable personal traits
and characteristics initially developed.
Teacher and it,s role cont….
The teacher’s competencies needed are:
 Organizing a well – managed classroom in terms of
time management, record-keeping, and discipline;
 Fostering linkages for mutual concerns.
 Undertaking networking activities with
organizations for educational, social and civic
purposes.
Parents and their role
 The parents are the first teachers in the home.
 They are responsible for the development of values,
attitudes and habits that will be needed as their children
associate with classmates in the school.
The more involved parents are in their child’s education, the
more likely the child is to succeed in school.
Research shows that parent support is more important to school
success than a student’s IQ, economic status, or school
setting.
What happens when
parents are involved?
Children get higher grades and test scores.
Children have better attitudes and behavior.
Children complete more homework.
Children are more likely to complete high school
and enroll in post high school education.
What do parents do best?
Parents, better than anyone else, teach their
children the essentials for success in life:
Self-worth
Self-respect
Self-discipline
Work ethic
Manners
Motivation
Character Traits
Love
parents help their children develop routines
 Have regular homework or reading time.
 Have a regular bedtime that allows for plenty
of rest.
 Give children age-appropriate chores.
 Give children a nutritious breakfast every
morning.
Why emphasize parent engagement
in children’s reading?
 Encouraging and discussing leisure reading.
 Monitoring and joint analysis of television viewing.
 Showing interest in children’s academic and personal growth.
 Engaging in frequent dialogue with children.
 Encouraging children’s academic pursuits.
 Setting clear and consistent limits.
 Monitoring consistently how time is spent.
 Communicating regularly with school personnel.
 Attending and participating in school functions.
 Providing quality reading materials and math experiences.
 Reading with children.
Believing children’s effort.
Examples of Parental Academic and
Motivational Support for Learning
I encourage my child to read (e.g., words on signs, books)
throughout the day.
My child knows I'll call school when I have a problem or concern.
My child knows that attendance and participation in school is
important.
My child understands my expectations for his or her schoolwork.
My child has a regular time for and place to do homework.
My child receives assistance in getting organized (e.g.,
sequencing/ prioritizing tasks to be completed).
I discuss the grade/teacher feedback on assignments with my
child.
I review assignments before they are turned in. I help my child
prepare for tests and quizzes.
 I talk about my goals for my child's performance in school with my
child.
 My child and I talk about schoolwork and school activities.
I speak positively about my child's school, teacher, and
assignments.
 Someone is available to help my child with schoolwork and to
learn at home.
 Learning tools are available in my home for my child's use (i.e.,
books from home or the library, paper, pencils, crayons,
computer).
 Someone at home helps organize my child’s assignments.
 My child’s schoolwork is viewed on a weekly basis.
 My child and I talk about schoolwork in our home.
 My child’s language errors are corrected.
 When my child is having trouble with an assignment, assistance is
available.
 I stay informed about my child’s school progress.
Examples of Parental Academic and
Motivational Support for Learning
Technology promotes
students’ learning
Technology is used as a tool to support the efforts of
teachers to promote different learning styles among
students to become interested in the learning process.
Technology promotes students’ learning by;
Serving different learning style (Visual, Auditory, and
Kinesthetic) through the use of different media such as
video, cassette recorder, photographs, pictures and
others.
It provides opportunities for students to exercise their
curiosity in learning to know more through the use of
online recourses.
Technology promotes students’
learning
Computers are incorporated into school curricula:
Teachers use presentation Graphics Software
Students use application software and the
internet
Internet technology is becoming a global tool used in a
mediated classroom with: e-Instruction, e-learning or
distance learning
Technology facilitate
teacher's task
Using technology facilitate teacher's task in display
information for a big number of students with different
learning characteristic by using an OHP
(over head projector), applications, online exams and
others.
