3. Nicki Minaj - NME
• The first thing that I like about this article is that the columns of text on the right page go around
the artist. I think this would be a good idea for me to include as it makes the appearance of the
whole article look more appealing and fun rather than all the text being simply the same ‘shape’.
The layout is therefore professional and neat.
• I like the pink and black colour scheme which is used as I think this ties in well with Nicki Minaj as
she in 2011 she was known for her pink hair. Also, this colour scheme looks vibrant and gives off a
positive vibe.
• The article itself is enjoyable to read as it is easy to read and follow with a simple structure.
• I like the fact that instead of doing a normal Q and A format for the article, the writer has also
integrated a list of ’10 commandments’ from Minaj. This gives off the effect that Minaj is giving
something exclusive and personal to the reader.
• The image size allows Minaj to be overpowering and this is highlight by her serious facial expression
with the use of direct mode of address.
• The heading of the article has two different fonts used. I think this is a creative way in which an
article can express the importance of the artist and then signify to the audience the high quality of
the brand’s identity as they are able to get an artist such as Minaj who is a successful pop artist with
her singles being in the charts.
• The image of Minaj is a medium shot which allows the reader to see the facial expression of the
artist and the clothing easily. I like the simple choice of clothing as it allows Minaj to connect to a
wider range of audience.
