Evaluation
This photograph was taken indoors with a high ISO to capture a drummer reenacting another photographer's composition in black and white. Minor editing was done to convert it to black and white and crop the sides. The photographer found it challenging to recreate the pose but thought focusing on just the drummer worked best. Photoshop was used to apply a monochrome filter. Details like the drummer biting his drumstick show his instrument and personality. It would be suitable to advertise the drummer's band in a music magazine, especially if on the page of an interview with him.

The student learned several things in progressing from the preliminary task to the full product. They learned that codes and conventions are similar across magazine genres, and that magazines contain standard features. The student also improved their time management skills, learning to stay on top of tasks and not leave things unfinished. Regarding creative skills, the student found being creative gained more marks and presenting work on various platforms helped. Finally, the student expanded their technical skills by learning new software like Photoshop and InDesign, and presenting work using different programs.
Process (2)

2) For the contents page, subheadings stayed the same but info was added, images were moved to the top and grouped closer together, and a social media box was added. The background was changed to grey and additional elements like a website, page numbers, and quotes were included.
Designing dps

I manipulated the front cover image in Photoshop to bring the models closer together and cut out the background. I moved the publication details like the date, issue number, and price to the right side and removed the exclamation point. I also adjusted the barcode to fit better under the banner at the bottom. For the contents page, I kept the same subheadings but added more details under each one. I rearranged the images so they are closer together and at the top. I also added a social media section at the bottom to engage readers. For a featured article, I gave it a yellow border to stand out and match the cover image. For my front cover is used a med-shot of Daniel(Sphynx), is used this image of him in front of a blue screen so it was easier to remove the background and replace it with a background of my choice. As I am doing an R&B magazine he is dressed casually however he is also very neat to make the magazine look more attractive to the audience. I haven't used different camera angles as I wanted my cover to look like an R&B magazine cover. The headphones around his neck reinforce the fact that he is an artist and also implies that the magazine is a music magazine.
- 3. I used this picture of Mustafa, I removed out the whole back ground and put a stroke around him. I used this long shot to show his whole body as the pose is important and represents his cool and calm personality. This also makes him a lot less intimidating to the audience which is what an artist who has just entered the scene would want to be represented as. His outfit is also very casual however as he is a younger artist he looks a lot more urban than Daniel.
- 4. I also used a picture of Becky and Sam, the picture was originally a long shot however I edited it to a mid shot of the two. I also changed the background from the college corridors to gates, this is because my magazine cover is an R&B magazine so the original setting wouldn’t make much sense and also wouldn’t be as attractive. The two, again wearing casual clothes however looked very relaxed but not scruffy and informal, this is to make the magazine seem serious and formal.
- 5. This picture was a long shot however I also edited it a lot first removing Mustafa then further cutting the picture into a mid-shot. I used this picture as it looks very natural with the way Daniel is laughing whilst he is holding a microphone and headphones which makes it look as if he is having fun producing music. The setting outdoors which is usually where music videos are produced and the background doesn’t look run down and unattractive so it will be off-putting. Daniel is again wearing his usual clothing; a jumper, jeans and trainers, however it isn't the same outfit as the main cover connoting progression.
- 6. The last picture I used was of Scott, in my magazine he is an artist who recently left a band (Sam and Becky). I got a separate picture of Scott instead of all three of them together to show that he's gone. I changed the picture from a mid-shot to a close up, I also removed the background, added a stroke and also big question marks to catch the audiences attention. Scott is again following the casual but formal theme by wearing a simple jumper and jeans however only the jumper is visible in the final edit.
