3. REPRESENTED?
Throughout my magazine, I feel as though I have represented
the older generations more than the young. This is down to the
fact that the genre I was aiming for ‘Calliwill’ to do covers of old
songs rather than them doing new songs as it gave me a good
and easy way to accurately define my genre. I wanted to
represent the older generations with vintage and retro themes,
not only through the music, but through the expressions,
clothes, and layout of my magazine. I feel I did this as I made
sure that the clothes would have been acceptable for that era.
No nudity or profanity.

5. COVER
The image I used as the main magazine cover was good in my opinion, as I used an
image where the two ‘subjects’ maintained eye contact with the camera and did not
smile. This represented them as being serious which is the feel I wanted the reader
to get when they look at the magazine. The clothes they are wearing adds to this
effect, as they are depicted wearing a black shirt and red tie. I chose these clothes
as the black and dark of the shirt stands out against the light background. Whereas
the red tie stands out against the black shirt.
6. CONTENTSPAGE
This picture is
good as I found
that if my two
‘subjects’ were
holding an
award it would
add to the
authenticity of
my magazine it
helps to
represent my
subjects as
real music
artists.
This picture
features Hollie
Mullins and she
is represented in
this as an ‘Indie’
style of music
which is how I
portrayed her in
the description.
This helps the
magazine to
cover more
genres than the
specific one
The clothing are
what is most
important in this
photograph, as I
had to make sure
that all members
of the photo were
wearing the same
kind of clothes. It
just so happened
that all members
of the image were
wearing jumpers.
The members of
this image are
represented as
being quite fun,
not too serious.
This is through
the way they are
positioned with
each of them
leaning in to get
into the shot. As
well as the facial
expressions of
some of them.
7. ARTICLE
The image I used for my
main photograph,
represented Calliwill as
being quite serious, as
shown by their facial
expressions. Will (right)
appears to have
squinted his eyes. This
makes him look as
though he is serious and
suspicious, which links
to the genre.
For these images, I wanted to add something
else to add to the genre. I therefore needed
something retro. I came to the conclusion that
polaroids were the obvious choice. I got some
blank templates of polaroids and inserted the
pictures I took of Calliwill. So they fitted the
polaroids well, I then went about putting them
in my article. I like them as they represent
Calliwill and the magazine as a retro styled one
which relates well to my genre. I found a font,
called ‘Lucida Handwriting’ and made it look
like someone had scribbled on the polaroids
what that picture is about.
