1. Main Cover Artist (Nicki):
Costume:
A variety of costumes so that the pictures on the front cover, contents and
across the double page spread are different and vary.
Different T-shirts with different patterns to make the outfit seem totally
different. The T-shirts can have bold and bright patterns as the background is
plain.
Accessories such as: hats, necklaces and bracelets, bows and headbands for
hair, gloves. This will give the outfit a different feel and shows a variety of
different styles.
Jeans
Jackets (denim, leather, studded)
Acting:
Her expressions need to be bold and slightly over the top. This is because
many teen-pop magazines are ‘cheesy’. The expressive faces are a way of
making the magazine look exciting and positive.
Other poses such as touching her hair will make her look stylish and
fashionable which will suit the target audience. Clothes and make up is
something that young girls are interested in and will make a point of looking at
them.
Props can be used e.g. cat ears to make her look childish to suit the audience.
Props:
Guitar: this will show that she is a musician and that the magazine is related to
music.
Hat and headbands: will change the outfit and can sometimes be used for
humour (cat ears)
Setting;
I have decided to use a plain background for the main artist as too much
pattern or colour will clash with the rest of the cover
Make Up:
Bold make-up so it will show up on the camera.
Pink lipstick to match with the colour scheme of the magazine, this will ensure
that it does not clash with the rest of the cover.
Pink is also girly and will attract the right audience.
Lighting:
The lighting needs to be quite bright to make the model stand out and to make
her clothes and make up clear.
The background will be very pale pink so if it the lighting is bright enough the
colour will just look very dull.
2. Second artist (Mollie Rose):
Costume:
Just one outfit as she will only appear in two different photographs.
A jumper or top that is a different colour to the background.
Bottoms do not matter as it is just a close up/medium close up of the artist.
Acting:
In one of the photos the model could smile and look really happy and in the
second she could maybe make a peace sign or a heart sign with her hands.
This is something that the audience can relate to as young girls/teenagers
often do these things in photographs.
Acting like this will make the artist seem young and confident which is the
vibe the magazine gives off.
Props:
The photos may not need props as they are only very small photos and the
attention needs to be fully on the artist.
If the photos look boring the model could wear headphones or hold something
very small to give the reader something to look at (this may not be needed)
Setting:
Again, I will have a plain background as there is a lot going on on the cover
and contents page and a patterned or busy background may over crowd the
cover.
A patterned background could be experimented with but I might take the
attention off the model or clash with what she is wearing.
Make-Up:
I want the model to wear a small amount of eye makeup but not too much as
she is supposed to be quite young.
Also, too much make up will be very similar to the main cover artist and may
take some of the attention off of her.
Lighting:
The lighting needs to be quite bright to make the model stand out and to make
her clothes and make up clear.
The background will be very pale pink so if it the lighting is bright enough the
colour will just look very dull.
3. Falling Out of Favour (Band):
Costume:
They will wear what the usually wear when they perform.
Jeans
A t-shirt that has the ‘falling out of favour’ logo on it
Chequered shirt
Trainers/pumps e.g. converse
Acting:
I will take the photos when they are actually performing so they will playing
instruments and singing.
Props:
Guitar
Keyboard
Microphones
Drums
Setting:
On stage at a music venue
Surrounded by instruments and speakers
The image is supposed to promote the bands upcoming tour so a photo of
them on stage will be good for this, if the crowd features in the photo it will be
clear that they are performing.
Lighting:
The lighting will be streamed onto the stage and will be of different colours.
This will highlight the performers on stage.
4. Phoebe:Costume:
Just one outfit as she will only appear in one photo on the front cover and one
on the contents page.
Top that is a different colour to the background.
Bottoms do not matter as it is just a close up/medium close up of the artist.

Setting:
Again, I will have a plain background as there is a lot going on on the cover
and contents page and a patterned or busy background may over crowd the

I may decide to take some photos in her natural surroundings e.g. her
bedroom writing a song or working on a laptop, this is different to the other
photos and other artists.
A patterned background could be experimented with but I might take the
attention off the model or clash with what she is wearing if her top is
patterned.
Make-Up:
I want the model to wear a small amount of eye makeup but not too much as
she is supposed to be quite young.
Also, too much make up will be very similar to the main cover artist and may

The model cold curl her hair and maybe wear a bandana so she is totally
different to the other artists on the cover.
Lighting:
5. The lighting needs to be quite bright to make the model stand out and to make
her clothes and make up clear.
The background will be very pale pink so if it the lighting is bright enough the
colour will just look very dull.
