The document describes the taiga biome. The taiga is found in northern regions like Alaska, Canada, Scandinavia and Russia. It has cold winters below -65 degrees and warmer summers around 70 degrees, and receives around 40 inches of precipitation annually. The climate is dominated by arctic air. Common plants are black spruce, jack pine, white fir and paper birch while animals include American black bears, red foxes, bobcats and bald eagles. Some species, like jack pine and bald eagles, have adaptations like waxy needles and curved beaks, to help survive in the harsh climate.
