The tundra biome is a cold, harsh environment located in Alaska, northern Canada, Greenland, Scandinavia, and Siberia. It has very low annual precipitation between 6-10 inches and temperatures that range from -47F to -126F. Plants such as arctic moss, caribou moss, and bearberry stay close to the ground, while animals like the snowy owl, polar bear, caribou, and arctic fox have thick coats or short bodies to reduce exposure and help them survive in the extreme cold.
