Strengths Weaknesses Opportunities Threats
After finishing my script I can see
what strengths my script has. It
has a clear story line and it's
stuck to well making it more
enjoyable to watch. The idea
behind the story isn't very
complex and therefore is easily
accessible to a wide audience.
Although the film isn't
complicated it tackles problems
that teenagers/ young adults will
go through at some point in their
life, this film is an extreme case
of peer pressure however it's
very subtle, no one is forcing
someone to do something which
is how peer pressure is usually
showcased in films, the pressure
that the characters go through is
down to not wanted to be left
out or left behind in the
friendship group.
My script has a clear weakness of
having 5 main characters, this
becomes a problem as usually
you would have only 2 people in
a standard conversation however
most of the time it's all 5 of
them, and obviously not
everyone speaks all the time as
this would make the
conversations unrealistic. This
wasn't actually wasn't ass big of
a problem as I though as they are
the only people in the film
making it a lot easier to contain a
lot of the dialogue so that the
film didn't get boring. By having
so many characters it kind of
forced me into a longer script
than I wanted which then effects
the length of the filmand the
length of the shooting script.
Before writing my script I did
research into script writing to
help me understand how they
work, the research helped as it
gave me a good starting point. I
later analysed 4 scripts, radio,
TV, Film, Games. This was a big
help as it made me go more in
depth and explore the details in
a script. I also had multiple
meetings with a client which
provided me with feedback that I
later went and made
improvements with, this was the
most useful part of learning how
to write a script as it allowed
someone else to give me
criticismthat I could then go and
act upon making my script
better.
The dialogue in my script wasn't
very good when I first wrote it, I
found it difficult at the start as I
was writing the dialogue how I
write and not how I talk making
the dialogue very unrealistic, this
was due to me being an amateur
script writer however through
research and client meetings I
managed to improve on this
making the overall dialogue
seem realistic.
