2. I have sent the product to a variety of different people
and not all being the intended target audience. I have
done this to get a range of feedback from the short
film.
3. From asking people on Facebook to watch the short and
answering a questionnaire, I have got some responses, giving
me some interesting feedback. Overall I do agree with what people
have said and have taken it on board and have learnt a lot from this.
Screenshot of some of the responses I have gathered…
4. 1) Is the narrative easy to follow or is an explanation required?
2) Did the plot keep you interested?
3) Do the effects work with the concept of the film?
4) Does the flow in transitions/ editing between each shot work or
is it a bit jumpy?
5) What was the best part of the film?
6) What was the worst part?
7) How do you rate the film between 1- 10. 1 being the worse
thing you’ve ever seen and 10 being excellent and something you
would probably watch again?
8) If you had the chance what would you change about the film?
9) If this was on sale would you purchase it?
Questionnaire sent to people over
facebook:
5. Is the narrative easy to follow or is an explanation
required?
From the feedback I have been given I have found that the
narrative is easy to follow. But some said that to help the
narrative along the way was to include a sound track or
some sound during the dream section of the film. I agree
with this as I feel it does need something to help build the
tension. I was going to
include a sound track but
could not find any
suitable. The Pie chart to
the side
shows how
6. Did the Plot keep you
interested?
From the feedback the majority of people said that they
were expecting more out of it. E.g. when the girl is
applying her mascara they thought that someone or
something was going to appear behind, but said it was still
good. This was what I had initially planned to do but
unfortunately due to actor issues this was not possible to
do. Some were still interested as
they were kept wondering what
was going to happen it kept them
questioning. Others also said that
they were not expecting the end.
7. Did the effects work with the
concept of the film?
I learnt from this that there was a fair few people who were
unable to identify the leave colour effect used during the
dream section of the film. However, a lot of people did
recognised the effect
put in and felt that it
the film but maybe
more could have
been done.
8. Do the transitions work and flow or
are they a bit jumpy?
From the people that I asked, they said that the
transitions used did flow but a couple had an issue with
the first transition between the library to the toilets but
understood why I had done this the way in which I did
(person on other side of the books, this was not
appropriate for this section as
I intended for everyone to
disappear and due to shots
going missing I did not have
any alternative footage). Apart
from this they said it was fine.
9. What was the best part of the film
and what was the worst part?
The majority of people asked said that they preferred the
part when the stalker comes at the girl with the knife. The
ending in particular as they said it was unexpected. They
also said that it started to become more interesting when
the stalker came into it.
I learnt from the feedback that the worst part of the short
was when the girl was applying her mascara as they found
the shots too long and repetitive applying mascara and
needed something else to happen at this point.
10. How do you rate the film between 1- 10. 1 being the
worse thing you’ve ever seen and 10 being excellent
and something you would probably watch again?
The feedback from this was quite surprising with what
people rated this with the majority being 6/7 with a couple
a tad lower and higher. It is not surprising that there was a
range in ratings as it is not everyone’s cup of tea.
Especially since I asked a variety of different people.
11. If you had the chance what would
you change about the film?
From feedback the one point that kept popping up
was on the girl applying the mascara, they said that
she could have been washing her face or something
or include the stalker appear in the mirror to make it
different. Plot progression, even though they said that
did keep them interested they said that it should have
been quicker getting to the stalking and adding like
extra snip its of the stalker e.g. in the toilets appear in
the mirror when applying the mascara.
12. If this was on sale would you
purchase it?
This was not a surprising response with the majority
saying probably not as it was not there genre of
interest. Some said though that if this was released they
would watch it again as it is something different but not
purchase as it is a short film, if it was longer then
possibly.
13. Overall, from the feedback I have got, I have learnt that the
short film I have created could have been better with
probably adjusting the effects in the dream section as even
though everyone asked recognised it as being a dream more
could have been done with it. Therefore if I had the chance to
do this again I would adjust the effects more so that it works
better for the feel of the genre. Also, the shots in the toilets
with the girl applying mascara would be a good idea to
reduce this down and add the stalker appearing in the mirror.
Another point brought up from my feedback is the transition
at the start would need to have been adjusted.
Overall…
