EXISTING PRODUCT
Every single street – Rickey Gates
 This show makes its audience want to watch it because it has a very
specific audience of a group of 30–50 year-old active people who are into
running.
 The lighting is all-natural lighting because it’s all filmed outside in the
city of San Francisco.
 He is only wearing running gear throughout the whole documentary.
 There are lots of slow-motion and time-lapse shots.
 It doesn’t just focus on running; it also focuses on the setting and the
different people of the area he's running in.
 All the interviews on him basically take place in one area so it feels more
organized and together.
EXISTING PRODUCT
Crossing Dartmoor – Ultra Marathon trail (short documentary)
 A lot of the shots were on a handheld camera
 Lots of time lapse and slow motion of him running
 It is all shot during the day so all of it is using natural lighting. There
is some scenes shot at sunrise that create lens flares.
 It is an ultra marathon trail so the target audience will be people who
are runners, and it will maybe inspire people to run something like an
Ultra too.
 He usually only wears running gear throughout.
EXISTING PRODUCT
Once is enough (feature length documentary)
 It was filmed outside. There was some interviews that took place on a
train track and in the woods. There was also some shots of stand-up
comedy inside.
 It uses comedy too so its not just runners who it’ll appeal too, its
anyone who wants something to watch and maybe they can learn
something new.
 The colors are all simple and nature related, like greens and browns.
I made this test poster as one of my
experiments. I saw another poster where
there was a map cut off so I thought I
would experiment with cutting between
the map and the photo.
The colours I used for this one were
purple and green. I used purple because
it is the colour of her shirt and the colour
of the shirt will dictate a lot of the other
colours I use in the final product. I have
predicted she will wear pink so in the
final product everything will be more
neon pink themed rather than purple.
I tried to use similar fonts to the ones I
had on my style sheet and I went with
this one which I also used for the tagline
but in lowercase, by using the same font
and the same effect on the font it looks
cleaner.
This is 2018’s 10in10 poster. They used
orange and blue for the poster. This is a
sponsorship poster that will get sponsors
for the race as it is a charity event and they
need to reach a fundraising goal to
complete.
This is the sponsorship poster I have
designed. I used the neon colors and pink
like I planned on. Bold white text stands
out of the pink and I think it fits with my
theme as a whole.
RESEARCH ANALYSIS
What common features do the researched products have?
Each documentary has similar aspects to it. They all had
long shots, interviews and a time lapse of nature. They
also has slow motion. They all had hand held footage of
the runner.
What aspects of the research will you include within your
on work?
I will try incorporate some of these styles into my work. I
will have long shots and time lapses. I want to show a lot
of scenery as well as running because I think it will make
the overall feel of the documentary a lot more nice and it
will have more aesthetic qualities.
