The document discusses the suspension system of a vehicle, describing its basic parts like control arms, ball joints, springs, and shock absorbers, and explaining how they work together to support the vehicle's weight, provide a smooth ride, and allow for steering and cornering. It also covers different types of suspension systems like independent and non-independent suspensions, as well as how to inspect and maintain key suspension components.
This is Mechanical project report on Fabrication of an Active Air Suspension System. Air ride suspension
carries the load on each axle with a pressurized air bag just as a high pressure balloon. This system provides
the smoothest and most shock free ride of any of the known vehicle suspension system. An air suspension
includes a multiple air spring assemblies that each includes a piston airbag and a primary airbag mounted over
the piston airbag. The main and piston air bags each have a variable volume that is controlled independently
of the other for active suspension control.
The suspension system connects a vehicle to its wheels using springs, shock absorbers, and linkages. It serves two main purposes - contributing to handling and braking, and protecting the vehicle and passengers from road shocks. Common suspension types include independent front suspensions like MacPherson struts and solid rear axles with leaf springs. Proper suspension provides cushioning, stability, and ride comfort while preventing excess body movement.

BAB I PENDAHULUAN PERAWATAN DAN DAN PERBAIKAN SISTEM SUSPENSISofyan Mar'uz
Catatan :
Semakin besar sprung weight semakin baik kwalitas mengendarai
mobil
bergerak disekitar titik berat dari kendaraan ( mobil )
~ Rolling : Gerakan mengayun kesamping
~ Bounching : Gerakan keatas dan kebawah
3. SPRING ( PEGAS )
PEGAS DAUN ( LEAF SPRING )
Fungsi
Untuk menghubungkan frame dengan axle
dan juga sebagai bantalan penyerap
guncangan yang ditimbulkan oleh permukaan
jalan
Konstanta pegas
Sifat bahan berubah bentuk apabila mendapat
beban, dan kembali ke bentuk semula bila
beban dilepas .Peristiwa tersebut disebut
elastisitas
Besarnya defleksi sebanding dengan gaya
yang bekerja.
Perbandingan antara gaya yang bekerja
dengan defleksi disebut “ konstanta pegas “
4. COIL SPRING
Konstanta pegas
Apabila gaya yang bekerja = W
Besarnya defleksi = A
Tinggi bebas = L
Maka konstanta pegas = W/A
5. HELPER SPRING
kendaraan angkutan berat.
Helper spring bekerja bersama – sama dengan pegas utama, apabila kendaraan mendapat
beban diatas jumlah spesifikasi
6. HOLLOW SPRING
Hollow spring adalah potongan karet
yang berlubang ditengah dan dibaut
pada bagian atas axle, kontrol arm
atau pada bagian frame yang
terletak diatas.
Saat lubang tertutup dan udara
terperangkap pada lubang tersebut
berfungsi sebagai pegas
Hollow spring umumnya digunakan
sebagai pegas tambahan untuk
melindungi frame dari benturan
pegas
7. AIR SUSPENSION
Kerugian :
~ Kwalitas mengendarai serta tabilitas kemudi kurang
~ Kecenderungan terjadi gerakan horizontal
JENIS – JENIS SUSPENSI
10. SUSPENSI MODEL INDEPENDENT
menahan gearakan tadi.
Dengan demikian timbul efek penyerapan seperti pegas daun ( leaf spring ) atau pegas ulir ( coil
spring )
14. MACHPERSON SUSPENSION
Suspensi model machperson tidak memiliki upper arm,
sehingga konstruksinya sederhana dan tidak
diperlukan penyetelan “ FRONT WHEEL ALIGMENT “
kecuali “ TOE “
15. SHOCK ABSORBER ( PEREDAM KEJUT )
body kendaraan
Tapi tanpa adanya peredam kejut jalannya kendaraan menjadi buruk.
berayun – ayun.
16. Prinsip kerja Shock absorber ( peredam kejut )
Single action Double action
Jenis aksi langsung ( direct acting type )
Keuntungan jenis ducarbon
• Radiasi panasnya baik karena tabungnya single
• Tidak terjadi kejutan hidrolis saat terjadi perubahan
gerakan
• Tidak terjadi suara mendesis apabila minyak mengalir
melaui katup ( orifice )
