This document discusses recommending study partners for students in MOOC courses. It begins with an introduction to MOOCs and the problem of low completion rates. It then discusses three main methods for recommending friends or links: collaborative filtering based on user similarities; content-based recommendations using user profiles and item attributes; and graph-based recommendations using social network graphs. It proposes using a topic model and social network analysis to measure learner similarities and relationships to recommend study partners that can help learners solve problems and stay engaged in the course.
