1. These are the results of my Audience
survey. Overall I only received a
limited response (around 12/13
people answered) however I feel this
does not limit the results of the
responses. My first question was
about age category, so I knew which
age bracket to target for my future
magazine. All answers were those of
‘<18’ therefore I think I will target my
magazine at a generally younger
audience, perhaps 25 and younger-
also this works out as I feel generally,
it is a younger audience who are into
indie music (as it is a fairly new
genre) .

2. • I decided to ask if a subscription was something my
target audience would be interested in- despite the
audience reading music magazines often, I received
equal responses for those who would and those
who wouldn’t. Therefore I believe magazine readers
have mixed views on subscribing to a magazine, so I
think initially I will keep it subscription free.

3. • Here I was asking what genre of music most people are
interested in- I received equal responses for both pop and
indie, therefore I am able to do a genre I feel has the most
market and is undeveloped, which is indie.

4. • Here I asked what was the most popular type of
music magazine, to find out what magazines are
successful in theme, content…. Q magazine was
most popular and I believe this because It is well
established. Q covers a large range of music, rather
than being specific, therefore it appeals to a large
range of music. However, for my magazine I want
to appeal to a certain market, and give the
magazine a exclusive, small based feel.

5. • I was asked what was the majority gender,
and most said female. However, the
number of males in the questionnaire was
not far behind the females, therefore I’ve
decided to make my magazine appeal to
both.

6. • i asked whether an audience prefers a
more traditional print based magazine, or
if they prefer to access a magazine using
more modern technology such as an e-
magazine, an in app purchase or just
online. I received the same number for a
print based and e-magazine, my magazine
would probably be print based, however
for newer magazines it can be cheaper
online, plus I think it’s always a good idea
to have a online website or app, that’s why
I’m also going to also have an app
available.

7. • For this question, I only received a limited response,
however I understand the genre is fairly specific to
certain music tastes. I was trying to find out what kind
of indie bands most people would want to see
featured, whether they were fairly new or well
established indie band. Kwabs was the one that got
voted for, this works as I’m going to have a ‘---
introducing page’ for newer bands that the readers
should be aware of.

8. • Once again, only a few answered,
however most said subtle, with neutral
colours would be best for a indie
magazine. I’m planning on going for a
minimalistic look, with a subtle gender
neural colour theme running
throughout.
