Analysis of survey
By Lauren Morgan

Focus group of survey – the focus group of my survey was balanced as it was to find
out who would appreciate and more likely is the readership of a music magazine
and to also find out what they would like to see within one. There was a mixture of
females and males who took the survey; this meant that it was not gender
stereotyped. Therefor I am not making my magazine to a certain gender it will be a
mixture for both men and women. By doing this survey I found that people thought
the right age group for a music magazine would be from around 16 -24 so young
adults.

Why did I ask the certain questions I chose? – I chose most of my questions to find
out what the audience see as acceptable and what they wanted to see, which was
all relevant to what will go inside my magazine and what kind of readership this will
appeal too. I started the beginning of my survey with the more relevant important
questions which got the main idea’s towards the magazine out of the way then top
questions with less relevance, putting in what the audience want to see.

From the survey I can now add constructive improvements to my magazine to
provide what the audience wants. I will chose the answers which had the most
votes but this means that also not everyone chose these answers, although the
majority did which will manipulate specific answers I received. I will chose what I
think will best suit my magazine and from the help and outcome of the survey.

How will I incorporate the feedback into my magazine – from one significant
question I asked which was ‘Would you like to be able to order music straight of the
magazine, have a chance to order CD’s and conventional goods?’ and from this I had
an majority vote saying yes which was 86.67% therefor I will advertise in my
magazine that you can send of for CD’s and conventional goods from the magazine
just from filling in a piece of paper which will draw readership as this makes things
easier and less time consuming for them, which I have learnt from my survey would
be a good thing to incorporate.

In depth analysis –

1 - Which of the following names do you prefer for a pop magazine?

The majority vote was given to the magazine name ‘flavour’ so the feedback I
received was 53.33% of the vote. Therefor I decided to incorporate it, as with all the
names it was also my most favourite for a pop magazine. I believe people won’t be
able to forget it because it’s quite short and easily remembered and you can see the
word ‘flavour’ distributed through my masthead.
2 - Which of the colour schemes do you prefer for a pop magazine?

From the feedback I got it showed that most of the people that took the survey
thought that ‘Purple,Silver and White’ was a good colour scheme to use for a pop
magazine, with the vote being 53.33% of the vote, although I do not feel that
purple, silver and white would be so bright and it sort of reminds me of haloween
and not colourful and pop, therefor I am thinking of changing the colour scheme to
a green, black and white. Making it simple but more colourful and to stand out.

3 - What Features would you like to see feature within the pop magazine?

From this question the majority vote was split between Advertising and Quizzes
with them both having 53.33%, therefor I am incorporating both into my magazine,
with advertising throughout, what it going on inside the magazine and also Quizzes
within as I also believe this is a good idea to draw new readership as this may appeal
to them.

4 - What would be a price you would be prepared to pay for a music magazine?

Although the majority vote said £1.50 I do not feel that this is enough for a music
magazine, as in the market retailers music magazines range from 3-4 pound,
therefor I feel that to be beneficial to the market my magazine should be around
£2.99 to be up with all the other retailers.

5 - Out of the following font for a music magazine what would you prefer to see?

Although this question was not so relevant towards what the readers want, it
helped me to see what they would like to see within the magazine and what kind of
style they would enjoy, There for from the feedback of the survey I have chosen to
use’Candy Buzz ‘In my magazine, inside as it isn’t as eye catching but for inside my
magazine I feel this would suit throughout.

6 - Who are you favourite artists within the pop culture?

This question got quite a few answers with the same amount of votes, out of a few
pop stars who did they prefer, this lets me chose who to feature in my magazine
and what names to use on my front cover, in banners and box outs, advertising on
my front page, From my feedback I have chosen to use ‘Katy Perry, Rihanna,
OllyMurs and the Script in my magazine and advertise them on my front page
through interviews and new records.
7 - What types of readership would you expect to read a music magazine?

Nearly the whole vote went towards Young teenagers at 93.33% therefor from this
feedback I am making my target audience based on that being from around 16-24 a
younger age group, which from my feedback I found out people thought would be
the ideal age for my music magazine.

8 - Would you like to be able to order music straight of the magazine, have a
chance to order CD’s and conventional goods?

From my feedback I found out that many people thought this would be a great idea
and that they wanted to be able to do this straight from the magazine, there for I
am going to incorporate this into my magazine as it did get 86.67% vote.
