This document provides lesson plans and materials for teaching surrealism. The objectives are to use surrealist techniques to influence artwork and participate in group work. Nationality: Belgian
He was part of the surrealism art movement.

He is best known juxtaposition of ordinary objects.
(placing objects together that would not normally be
seen together.) he produced images which gave
ordinary objects new translations

His images were designed to be thought provoking.
This is seen in works such as ‘Ceci n’est pas une
pipe’
Some of his works include ‘Son of Man’, ‘The talking
room’ and Ceci n’est pas une pipe.

Mother committed suicide when he was 14 years oldit is said that Magritte witnessed rescuers pulling his
mothers body from the river, the fabric of her dress
was covering her face. This vision haunted him and is
seen in his works with faces covered with cloth.

Born: 1904 Died:1989 of heart failure
Nationality: Spanish
He was part of the surrealism art movement
Dali is best known for his surrealism paintings,
Photographs, films and sculptures.
Some of his works include ‘Persistence of
time’, ‘The metamorphosis of Narcissus’ and
‘Apparition of Face and Fruit Dish on a Beach’
His art works commonly contained images of
armies of ants –which are said to represent
death. They also contained images of melting
soft clocks-which are said to represent the
irrelevance of time in a dream like state.
His parents told him that he was a
reincarnation of his brother who died 9 months
before he was born.
He attended fine art school at the Academy of
San Fernando, which he was expelled from
after he claimed that no one at the school was
fit to examine him.
He tried to commit suicide numerous times
after his wife died but was unsuccessful.
