ISO,SHUTTER SPEED & APETURE
Basic Studio Set Up
ISO
1600, 800, 400, 200, 100, 50
ISO determines the sensor sensitivity to light. ISO setting affects
image quality. Lower ISO settings (50, 100) are less sensitive but
give better image quality. Higher ISO settings (800, 1600) are more
sensitive but may produce noise and give poorer image quality.
Shutter Speeds (in seconds)
1, ½, ¼, 1/8, 1/15, 1/30, 1/60, 1/125, 1/250, 1/500,
1/1000
Shutter speed determines the length of time the sensor is
exposed to light. The shutter speed affects motion blur for
moving subjects. Slower shutter speeds produce more
blur.
Aperture Settings (f-stops)
f1, f2, f2.8, f4, f5.6, f8, f11, f16, f22,
f32, f64
Aperture is the size of the opening in
the lens that lets light through and it
determines the amount of light
reaching the sensor during the
exposure. It affects the depth of field in
the image. Smaller apertures produce
greater depth of field.

depth of field (DOF) is the distance between the nearest
and farthest objects in a scene that appear acceptably
sharp in an image.
If I change my shutter speed from 1/60 sec to 1/250 sec.,
is it exposing for a longer or shorter time?
How many stops faster (more sensitive) is ISO 400 than
ISO 100?
If you had low light, which ISO setting would you
choose for action photography?
Q & A
Does f4 let more or less light into the camera than f11?
Explain how a slow shutter speed allows a moving
subject to blur.

TASK:
1.In your sketchbook write in your own words
using the worksheet an explanation on ISO,
Shutter Speed and Aperture. (Cut out and use
images from the sheet)
2.Also in your sketchbook create a studio set up
page using the images and information from
the studio set up worksheet.
