 Verily, we have
blessed You with Al
Kauthar (a river in
Paradise).
 So,offer prayer and

4. 1-KAUSAR- A RIVER OF PARADISE
 Anas ibn Malik said, "The Messenger of Allah sallallahu 'alayhi wa
sallam said: "Verily, a surah has been revealed to me." Then he
recited, Al-Kauthar ... " to the end of the Surah.
 The he asked, "Do you know what Al-Kauthar is?“
 They replied, "Allah and His Messenger know best."
 He said: "It is a river granted to me by my Lord, the Almighty, the
All-Powerful in Paradise, in which is great goodness; its drinking
vessels are as (limitless as) the heavenly bodies.
 It will refuse to allow one of the slaves to drink, and the Prophet
will say: 'Oh, my Lord! He is one of my community.' But it will be
said to him: 'You know nothing of the innovations (in religion) that
they practiced after you.'"

5. Kauthar a river in paradise
 Anas (RA) reported that "The Messenger of
Allah (SAW)said: 'I have been given Al-Kauthar and
it is a flowing river in Paradise which does not flow
along a normal channel, but instead its banks are
domes of pearl and I struck its earth with my hand
and it was a strong-smelling musk, and its pebbles
were pearls.’”
 Ibn Jarir narrates on the authority of Ibn 'Abbas that
he said: "Al-Kauthar is a river in Paradise, its banks
are of gold and silver and its bed is of precious
stones and pearls and its water is whiter than snow
and sweeter than honey."

6. 2- Fountain of Kauthar
 It has been narrated about the fountain of Al-
Kauthar that it has two streams running into it
from the heavens which emanate from the river
known as Al-Kauthar.
 Its drinking vessels are as limitless as the stars in
the sky. (Narrated by Muslim, Abu Dawud and
An-Nasa’i)

7. Ahadith about fountain of Kauthar
 This Fountain will be granted to him on the Resurrection Day when there will be the
cry of al-atash, al-atash (thirst, thirst!) on every side.
 I shall be there before you and shall bear witness on you, and by God, I am seeing my
Fountain even at this time." (Bukhari)
 Abu Barzah Aslami was asked: "Have you heard something about the Fountain from
the Holy Prophet? He replied: Not once, or twice, or thrice, or four or five times, but
over and over again. May Allah deprive of its water the one who be lies it." (Abu
Da’ud)
 Prophet has also warned the Muslims coming after him till Resurrection, saying:
"Whoever from among you will swerve from my Way and effect changes in it, will be
removed from the Fountain. I shall say: O Lord, they belong to me, they are the
people of my Ummah. In response it will be said: “Don't you know what changes they
effected after you and then turned back on their heels?” Then I too shall turn them
away and shall not allow them to approach the Fountain."

8. 3- Abundance of Allah’s blessings
 Word Al-Kauthar comes from the
word kathrah (abundance) and it (Al-Kauthar) linguistically
means an abundance of goodness, spiritual benefits, and
blessings. So from this goodness is the river (in Paradise).
 Al-Bukhari relates on the authority of Ibn 'Abbas that he
said Al-Kauthar is the blessings bestowed on the
Messenger sallallahu 'alayhi wa sallam by Allah.
 Mujahid said, "It is the abundant blessings of this world
and the Hereafter."

9. Prophet (SAW) granted abundance of
good
 Allah (SWT) favored the Prophet (SAW) with
unbounded good and countless deeds.
 This included the matchless moral qualities of the
Prophet, the Prophethood, the Quran and his
knowledge and wisdom.
 His message spread throughout the world
and alhumdulillah still continues to reach far and wide.
 His Ummah is biggest among all the ummahs

10. Qualifications to benefit from Al-
Kauthar.
 Establish Salah
 Sacrifice
 Learns knowledge,
 Teaches others
 Performs righteous deeds
 Gives sadaqah,
 Repents and asks forgiveness of Allah (SWT)
 Has patience,
 Relies upon Allah
 Attains desirable states of the heart, such as fear, awe, knowledge and awareness of Allah

11. Establish Salah and do sacrifice
 This is a command to the Prophet (SAW) and all of us:
 Your Prayer is only for Allah and
 Your sacrifice also is for Him alone, as it has been said at another place:
 `Declare, O Prophet, my salat and my sacrifice and my life and my death are
all for Allah, Lord of the universe, Who has no partner with Him. This is what I
have been enjoined, and I am the first to surrender to Him.'(Al-An`am:162-
163).
 This same meaning has been explained of it by Ibn 'Abbas. `Ata`, Mujahid,
`Ikrimah, Hasan Bari, Qatadah

12. Good news that hateful opponents
will be defeated
 The word shani' as used, in the original is derived from sha 'n, which means the hatred and spite
because of which a person may start ill-treating another.
 Shani aka implies every such person who blinded by his enmity of the Holy Prophet (upon
whom be peace) should bring false accusations against him, slander and defame him and vent
his personal spite against him by taunting and scoffing at him in every possible way.
 ‘Abtar’ is derived from batar which means to cut off,
 A man who fails to achieve his object is abtar as also the one who is deprived of all means and
resources.
 A person who is left with no hope of any good and success in life is also abtar.
 A person who has been cut off from his family, brotherhood, associates And helpers is also abtar.
 The word abtar is also used for the man who has no male child,

13. Are we eager and prepared to drink
from fountain of Al-Kauthar?
 Our lives are like passing clouds and we are running out of time.
 Most of us suffer with the disease of Al-Ghaflah.
 Al-Ghaflah means heedlessness or negligence,
 It is the sin of forgetting Allah and the purpose behind one’s existence and one’s duty
to Allah, and simultaneously forgetting one’s eventual abode
 “They know what is apparent of the worldly life, and of the Hereafter they are Ghafilun
(heedless).” [Ar-Room 30:7]
 Allah also describes such people as being in a worse state than animals when He
says:“And surely, We have created many of the jinn and mankind for Hell. They have
hearts with which they do not understand, they have eyes with which they do not see,
and they have ears with which they do not hear. They are like cattle, rather they are
more astray. It is they who are the Ghafilun (the heedless ones).” [Al-A’raf 7:179]

14. Warning from Allah (SWT) against
Ghaflah
 “Draws near for mankind their reckoning, while they turn away in Ghaflah
(heedlessness).” [Al-Anbiya’ 21:1]
 The only thing that wakes up these people is the Angel of Death when he pays them
a visit to take away their souls. Allah says:
 “And the intoxication of death will come in truth, that is what you were trying to
avoid. And the horn will be blown, that is the Day of which warning had been given.
And every soul will come forth, with it an angel to drive it and an angel to bear
witness. It will be said: Indeed you were in Ghaflah (heedless) of this, now We have
removed from you your covering, and sharp is your sight this Day.” [Qaaf 50:19-22]
 “And warn them of the Day of Regret, when the matter will be concluded, while now
they are in a state of Ghaflah (heedlessness), and they do not believe.” [Maryam
19:39]

15. How to cure ourselves of the disease
of Ghaflah.
 1. At-Tawbah or repenting to Allah from the sins of the past. Allah says:
 “The repentance accepted by Allah is only for those who do wrong in ignorance and
heedlessness and then repent soon after, it is they whom Allah will forgive, and Allah
is ever Knowing and Wise. But repentance is not accepted of those who continue to
do evil deeds up until when death comes to one of them, he says: “now I repent,” nor
of those who die while they are disbelievers.” [An-Nisaa’ 4:17,18]
 2. Constantly reminding oneself of death before it approaches and becomes too late
to turn back. Allah says:
 “Until when death comes to one of them, he says: “my Lord send me back, so that I
may do righteousness in that which I have left behind.” No! It is but a word that he
speaks, and behind them is a barrier until the Day they are resurrected.” [Al-Mu’minun
23:99,100]

16. 3. Constantly remembering Allah through Adh-Dhikr (the remembrance of Allah)
which is of two types:
a) The Dhikr of the heart: to remember the greatness of Allah, His Ayat (signs),
and His favours upon you.
b) The Dhikr of the tongue: to remember Allah by way of
certain Adhkar (supplications) which have been mentioned in the Qur’an and
Sunnah.
The Prophet (SAW) said: “The example of the one who remembers his Lord, in
comparison to the one who does not remember his Lord, is that of a living
creature compared to a dead one.” [Bukhari]
4. Taking a righteous companion that constantly reminds one of his duty to
Allah, and reminds one of the Hereafter.
The Prophet (SAW) said: “Every individual is upon the religion of his companion,
so let him look to whom he accompanies.” [Ahmad and Bayhaqi]
5. Staying away from Haram types of amusements and games that busy one
from the remembrance of Allah and the Hereafter.

17. 6. Staying away from places that harden the heart
and bring about the state of Ghaflah, such as
amusement parks and nightclubs, and substituting
these with places that soften the heart and bring
about the remembrance of Allah and the
Hereafter, such as the Masajid and the circles
of Dhikr and knowledge.
So let us take heed of these points and implement
them in our lives so that we may avoid being
raised on the Day of Resurrection along with the
heedless ones.

18. Calamity of Corona Pandemic is a test
and reminder for our death
 “Do you think that you will enter Paradise without such [trials] as came to those who
passed away before you? They were afflicted with severe poverty and ailments and
were so shaken that even the Messenger and those who believed along with him said,
‘When [will] the Help of Allāh [come]?’ Yes! Certainly, the Help of Allāh is near!”.
 “And We will surely test you with something of fear and hunger and a loss of wealth
and lives and fruits, but give good tidings to the patient”.
 The companions once asked the Prophet (peace be upon him):“Oh Messenger of
Allāh, who from amongst the people were tested the most? The Prophet (peace be
upon him) responded and said, the Prophets, then the next best and then the next
best.”. We see the great Prophet of Allāh, Ayyūb (peace be upon him),was tested with a
great illness. His story is synonymous with patience.

19. Allah (SWT) has all the power and
control
 Pre-determination (Qadr): This concept is extremely
important for a Muslim to understand.
 When incidents such as the coronavirus occur, a Muslim
should know that this is what Allāh had decreed 50,000
years before the creation of the universe.
 The Prophet (peace be upon him) explained: “Allāh had
written the ordained measures (and due proportions)
of the creation, fifty thousand years before the creation
of the heavens and the earth"

20. Believer always finds the best out of
any situation
 Allāh tells us that "perhaps you hate a thing but it is in fact good for you, and
perhaps you love a thing when in reality and it is bad for you, yet Allāh knows
while you know not".
 A believer has two positions when it comes to pre-determination: one is
before the situation occurs, and one is after. Before the situation he seeks help
from Allāh, makes dua to him, and relies upon him; he asks Allāh for good to
come from it.
 After the situation, if the result was positive and good the person thanks
Allāh. If the event had a negative outcome the person is patient because he
knows that Allāh will never forsake him even if it seems the result is negative,
because indeed Allāh is the best of planners.
