The Hay Wain Analysis
A1: Initial thoughts Viewing John Constable s painting The Hay Wain makes me appreciate that there
were established artists in early 19th century. The painting is one of the most studied and sought after
in the world and viewing it allows me to understand why majority of people are interested with it

In the recent past, people abandoned the countryside to live in the urban areas (Western Governors
University, 2017). In fact, most of the people in the developed countries are unaware of how the
countryside looks like. Due to development and pollution, the natural sceneries are dying slowly. In

Theoretical Modeling Of Resource Depletion
The original work in theoretical modeling of resource depletion was by Harold Hotelling (1931).
Hotelling provided a method for analyzing producer behavior when extracting a scarce, non renewable
resource. In this modeling framework, the owners of a resource choose the extraction rate so as to
maximize the present value of the profit. The main conclusion of Hotelling s rule, in its
straightforward form, is that the resource price rise over time at the rate of interest. Indeed, if the
resource price increased faster than the interest rate, producers would choose to delay extracting and
selling the resource till its price had arose, since the resource owners could make more profit by
delaying the sale. If the resource price were declining or going up slower than the rate of interest,
owners would decide to sell more of the resource early and invest their returns at the going rate of
interest.
The efficient point occurs when prices are rising at exactly the rate of interest, making resource
owners indifferent between extracting now or holding reserves for the future. The Hotelling model
depends on several assumptions. The price path can be adjusted with more extensions of the original
model. One common assumption is to allow the extraction cost to be different based on the cumulative
extraction of the resource or the quantity of the resource remained in the ground, to reflect the fact that
as the resource becomes more depleted, the resources that remain get more costly to

A positive role model is an individual who possesses positive qualities, such as empathy and integrity,
and does good for the betterment of others, which, as a result, influences others to follow their
example. A role model s actions and lessons can help shape a child s views, morals and beliefs, which,

Hills Like White Elephants By Ernest Hemmingway is an interesting piece that consists entirely of an
odd conversation between two people sitting at a train station in Spain, having drinks while they wait
on their ride. The couple do not have names, just The American and The Girl who is also called Jig a
time or two by The American. Hemmingway uses these characters and their actions along with the
setting and symbolism to paint a beautiful picture of an untruthful relationship and a secretive
Operation that brings out the true feelings between an unknown couple. The point of view of this
piece is told from the third person. Almost third person limited as we never get to hear the actual
thoughts of any of the characters, making both of them rather unreliable as we never will know for
certain the true intentions either one of them has. At the beginning of the story, the conversation
between these two people seems very strange. Each of them are speaking but it is clear that neither are
truly listening to what the other is saying making it obvious that each has something much bigger on
their mind that they know they must address but neither are yet comfortable with bringing up the

Janie Crawford: The Woman Whose Clothing Conveys Her Relationships In Zora Neale Hurston s
Their Eyes Were Watching God, the protagonist, Janie, endures two marriages before finding true
love. In each of Janie s marriages, a particular article of clothing is used to symbolically reflect, not
only her attitude at different phases in her life, but how she is treated in each relationship. In Janie s
first marriage with Logan Killicks, an apron is used to symbolize the obligation in her marriage. Ah ll

(27). The apron represents Janie s role in the marriage as a farm hand, which is not similar to the
beloved role that Janie yearns for in marriage. Janie envisions her marriage as a bond between a

marriage is to abide by Killicks rule. Furthermore, Janie decides to find more in her life, specifically
love, and leaves Logan for Joe Starks; Janie expresses her freedom by tossing her apron away. The
narrator states, That made her feel the apron tied around her waist. She untied it and flung it on a low
bush beside the road and walked on... (32). The apron s removal reflects Janie s way of displaying that
she is breaking away the bonds of her marriage with Killicks, and the emotional restrictions she

All heroes have unique aspects that make them special and considered heroic. These aspects can be
anything from a role to a characteristic and are shown through many ways, such as descriptions and
explanations. Most of these aspects are shown through symbolism, such as in the works of Alexandre
Dumas, Homer, and Kenneth Branagh. Symbolism plays a key part in showing different aspects of a
hero, such as the elixir in the book The Count of Monte Cristo, the hammer Mjölnir in the movie Thor,

Blindness In David Foster s The Blind Man
Foster introduces the blind man in chapter 22 in his novel. He mentions how physical blindness is
important when brought into a story. He says it starts to make the other characters change and behave
differently . He also says how when a blind person is introduced something important is at stake and
the author is trying to emphasize the levels of sight beyond the physical one. He sort of shows how the
blindness of a character can also be quite ironic. Those who are blind are able to see and those who are
able to see are blind. This could be applied to many things such as the blind knowing the certain truth

I have recently watched the Television show Daredevil and the main character, Matt Murdock, is
actually blind. This show is very relatable to what Foster talks about. His blindness is revealed right at
the beginning of the show and we notice that he became blind as a child. This is important because
now we know that the character wasn t just blinded as an adult but instead he really began his life
blind minus a few years. His blindness actually helps him throughout the story and when introduced
the audience just knows that something important must be at stake (ccii). . It heightened his senses and
therefore became a superhero because of it. He was able to hear everything around him, even if it is
the quietest thing in the world. The irony shows when he becomes a lawyer. His business partner,
Foggy, was with him in a court as lawyers one day and they were defending someone. In a court of
law nobody really knows who is telling the actual truth but Matt is able to hear the heartbeat of the
jury and witness. He notices that whenever the heartbeat is at a faster pace they are lying or not saying
something. This shows the irony because Matt is able to see through people and their lies while Foggy
and the rest of the court who aren t blind do not have this ability. Foster is true to his word when
