* When there is a safety risk or someone is
in immediate danger, we use direct orders
and instructions. To express instructions, we
use imperatives.

• Giving advice is functional language that
you need to use in many social and
workplace situations.
• Like in many cases, it’s important to sound
polite and indirect. You don’t want your
advice sound like an order, do you? 
