Suggestion is something which is often given in a
friendly or informal way. It is up to the receiver
whether he will/ he won’t follow that suggestion.
Advice is something that is more emphatic and
often it needs to be followed. If an advice is
ignored the receiver may fall in some sort of
difficult situation

I don't know what to advise, I'm afraid.
I wish I could suggest something, but I can't.
I wish I could help.
I'm afraid I can't really help you.
No, I don’t think I could do that.
I’m not sure whether that’s a good idea.
Mmm. I’d rather try somewhere else.

Tami   : Hi Clàudia, You look worried. What’s the matter?
Aufa  : Er.. it’s nothing.
Tami   : Is it the exam tomorrow? You shouldn’t worry.
You’ll pass easily.
Aufa  : I know. Tami : Come on, tell me. What are you
worried about?
Aufa  : OK… it’s Mark. I think he has started smoking. I was
talking to him yesterday about this topic and he told me
that he isn’t smoking.
Tami   : That’s serious. What are you going to do?
Aufa   : I’m not sure. I should tell someone. What do you
think I should do?
Tami   : If I were you, I’d speak to his older sister. She’s
really friendly.
Aufa  : I’ve never met her. Can you come with me?
Tami   : Yes, of course. Let’s go and find her.

bad and he needs to consult a doctor now.
Suggest him to see Dr. Rashed and advise him to
do an emergency check up.
Suppose you want to take you colleagues to a
dinner. Ask for their suggestions for a good
restaurant for that purpose.
