They will also touch upon both the expected challenges they face, as well as how their individual approaches to supporting scholarly research are applicable to other institutions.

The presentation reports on some results of the 2020 IPSOS/MORI survey of young people in the EuroMed region and specifically the impact of digitalisation on intercultural dialogue and recommendations for the future. This activity was undertaken as consultancy to the Anna Lindh Foundation
Connectivism
Connectivism is a learning theory developed by George Siemens and Stephen Downes that argues knowledge exists throughout a network and learning occurs as connections are formed within that network. The theory was proposed in response to limitations of existing learning theories in the digital age where knowledge and information grow exponentially. According to connectivism, learning is a process of connecting specialized information sources, and the ability to construct and evaluate the relevance of connections is important. Technology plays an integral role by facilitating networked learning and sharing of experiences.

Gurumurthy delivered the “Dr. T K Jayalakshmi* memorial lecture” on “'Reimagining professional development of teachers across levels.” He spoke on the need for teachers to organize themselves into ‘communities of practice’ for supporting their own professional development. Digital technologies provided easy ways of sustaining such communities through virtual forums and the Karnataka Subject Teachers Forums were good role models of such communities of teachers. He also explained the possibiliites of teachers creating curricular resources for their own needs, using free and open digital tools, this would empower teachers and liberate them from being dependant on the education department or school management for curricular content. In the ‘Karnataka Open Educational Resources’ program, the members of the Subject Teachers Forums had created and shared OER for teachers across the state, in English and Kannada languages.
