 Aurobindo was born on 15th August, 1872 
in Calcutta. 
 His father was Dr. Krishnadhan Ghosh and 
mother was Swarnalata Devi. 
 He returned to India in 1893 and joined as 
professor of English at Baroda College in 
Gujarat. 
 He went to Pondicherry and spent his 
remaining 40 years in his Ashram.
