This document discusses sugar bagging and storage. It describes different types of bulk storage structures like bins, hoppers, short and long term bulk storage silos that can hold between hundreds to 80,000 tons of sugar. Vertical cylindrical silos are commonly used as they are cost effective and take up less space. Materials used include stainless steel, concrete and epoxy lined steel. Silos must be insulated to prevent moisture formation. Sugar is also packaged in bags or sacks made from materials like jute, paper, polyethylene and polypropylene. Automatic weighing and filling machines precisely fill the bags which are then sealed.
