This guide describes four steps any company can take to get the most from an elearning investment.
Business leaders increasingly recognize that providing employee training is critical to success. Companies worldwide use instructional content available on demand to build elearning programs that drive positive outcomes.
More than 40 percent of global Fortune 500 companies had embraced elearning strategies in 2013 (Ibis Capital). That same year, elearning was a $56.2 billion industry. This was expected to more than double by the end of 2015 (Global Industry Analysts).
Tremendous benefits result from elearning—chief among them improving employee performance and productivity, aligning expertise with business objectives, and providing consistent and scalable training to a dispersed workforce.

Unfortunately, most employers don’t have strategic-level initiatives in place to capture and retain the knowledge that's about to leave, and they don't have replacement talent ready to step into leadership as these roles open up.
Employers also feel they can't engage and retain early career talent long enough to fill leadership roles…but what if you approached the whole challenge a little bit differently? What if you looked at creative ways to tap into the vast talent pool of our emerging leaders today, and not wait until we promote them into designated leadership positions?

- The business impact of investing in your current talent
- How to approach leadership with an intelligent, forward-thinking outlook that will return excellent results and inspire others

Why SIMPLE Wins: Escape the Complexity Trap and Get to Work that MattersBizLibrary
Imagine what you could do with the time you spend sitting in meetings and writing emails every day. Complexity is killing companies’ ability to innovate and adapt, and simplicity is fast becoming the competitive advantage of our time.
Drawing on research and themes from her latest book, Why Simple Wins, Lisa Bodell inspires leaders and their teams to proactively move beyond the feelings of frustration and futility that come with so much unproductive work in today’s corporate world, to create a corporate culture where valuable, essential, meaningful work is the norm.
By learning how to eliminate redundancies, communicate with clarity, and make simplification a habit, individuals and companies can begin to recognize which activities are time-sucks and which create lasting value.
Lisa will touch on several key areas to make the case for simplification:
Simplification is a skill that’s available to us all, yet very few leaders use it.
Operating with simplification as a core business model makes economic and ethical sense—for our customers, for our company, and for each other.
Simplicity drives culture, and culture in turn drives employee engagement, customer relations, and overall productivity.
The reality is this:
While organizational complexity is an issue, more often individual complexity is the culprit – we often create the beast that we become slaves to without even realizing it. Using simple stories and techniques, Lisa will show that by using simplicity as an operating principle, we can eliminate the organizational and individual busywork that puts a chokehold on us every day, and instead spend time on the work that matters.

Microlearning and Proven Methods That Facilitate the Ongoing Learning ProcessBizLibrary
Delivering learning to employees is only the first key step in improving performance. Employees have to retain the gains in knowledge and skill, or the time, energy and effort that went into the program was for nothing – wasted.
According to a study conducted by the Pew Research Center, 87 percent of teachers said technology is creating an “easily distracted generation with short attention spans.”
The challenge for many organizations and professionals is that we focus so intently on developing employee learning resources, we overlook the importance whether our employees retain any of what they learn. As it turns out, reinforcement of lessons learned is a powerful part of learning and vitally important.
Recent research is helping us learn more about exactly what reinforcement methods really work, and why.
In this session, Dean Pichee, CEO of BizLibrary and training industry veteran, discusses “the forgetting curve” and methods, techniques and tools (including video) that can reverse the forgetting curve and lead directly to much higher returns on investments in improved performance.
You’ll leave this webinar with actionable steps you can take to increase learning retention and overall performance in your organization.

If that’s not a nightmare scenario for a training professional, we don’t know what is!
Ultimately, we need our employees to learn, retain, and then apply what they learn to improve their knowledge and skills and reach higher levels of performance. That’s the goal. But how many times do we fail to see the ROI we expect? How many times do we see well-executed content NOT applied on the job? How many times do we have to go back to the CFO and explain why the ROI we expected never materialized.
Kristi McNabb, Revenue Operations Manager at BizLibrary, will help you discover how and when employees apply learning to improve their job performance, explain the role managers play in helping employees retain training and drive ROI, and help you understand how microlearning can be a great tool to help employees in their moment of need.
During this webinar, Kristi will provide easy-to-understand insights on:
- How to help employees apply their learning and improve job performance
- A manager’s role in employee retention and training ROI

With the explosion of the maker movement, schools are beginning to embrace creativity. However, what does this mean for assessment? Should we assess the creative process? Last 2 decades has witnessed significant change in our Education system. Transformation is enormous and the teaching fraternity must learn to understand and appreciate their new role.
With free access to extraordinary educational material across diverse platform things are becoming more challenging. Technology has disrupted almost every aspect of our lives and the only way to survive is through adaptation and change.
Teacher must change their profile from EXPERT to FACILITATOR. Most of the teaching fraternity lives with the illusion of being EXPERT in their discipline, but the reality is that the quality of teaching as a profession has gone down over the last decade. This is the reason teaching fraternity is advised to take up the role of facilitator and be the active part of the classroom learning experience.
No more teachers can assume that what they know is extraordinary and that every day they are producing amazing content for their discipline or subject. As a matter of fact most of the times students are more updated than what we are.
With teachers changing their work profile the entire Education system is undergoing a major transformation. Educational Institutions are now forced to focus in developing Competencies amongst their students rather than transferring KNOWLEDGE.
It is essential that we must know the difference between transferring knowledge and that of being a facilitator. We have to accept the facts that most of us have gone wrong in our approach of teaching and we can only change if we accept. ACCEPTANCE is key to CHANGE

Critical pedagogy: education in the practice of freedomAlan Carbery
Slides from a talk at the Vermont Library Association College & Special Libraries Conference, October 2015. Abstract: Our presentation focuses on the use of primary sources in library instruction to inspire students to think around issues of injustice and oppression. Following remarks on our chapter-in-progress for a book on Critical Library Instruction, the session will be devoted to introducing/discussing Critical Pedagogy and its influence on library instruction. Because Critical Pedagogy is dependent upon decentering the lecturer in favor of a participatory and community-driven style of learning, we hope this session can act as a forum for our colleagues to share ways in which they’ve incorporated facets of Critical Pedagogy into their instructional practice, ask questions about Critical Library Instruction, and offer any critiques they have of Critical Pedagogy/Critical Library Instruction. Students, Computers and Learning: Making the Connection (Andreas Schleiche...EduSkills OECD
Are there computers in the classroom? Does it matter? Students, Computers and Learning: Making the Connection examines how students’ access to and use of information and communication technology (ICT) devices has evolved in recent years, and explores how education systems and schools are integrating ICT into students’ learning experiences. Based on results from PISA 2012, the report discusses differences in access to and use of ICT – what are collectively known as the “digital divide” – that are related to students’ socio-economic status, gender, geographic location, and the school a child attends. The report highlights the importance of bolstering students’ ability to navigate through digital texts. It also examines the relationship among computer access in schools, computer use in classrooms, and performance in the PISA assessment. As the report makes clear, all students first need to be equipped with basic literacy and numeracy skills so that they can participate fully in the hyper-connected, digitised societies of the 21st century.

Soft skills improvement is perceived as something intangible and doesn’t demonstrate increased results immediately. It can be labor intensive to observe each employee who is trained for different skills. To measure these skills correctly, it takes an unbiased professional to evaluate the behavioral changes. To develop effective measures of soft skills training, it is important to understand some of the drivers for implementing these programs in the first place. Many organizations implement soft skills programs to drive the professional development and growth of their employees. Organizations may identify key values and/or competencies and then build a training program to instill the values within their participants. In this session, we’ll discuss developing a plan for ROI to effectively measure the program and deliver quantifiable metrics to the organization.
Join us for this complimentary TICE Virtual Conference session. Your host, Julie Kirsch, director of program development at CohnReznick, will explore the challenges of measuring soft skills training, discuss how soft skills impact the business performance and strategies, and the various approaches that can be used to measure the program(s).
Learning is viewed as an expense by many businesses. However, learning can become an easy target for budget cuts unless it is well-aligned with an organisation’s key goals. However, when properly managed, the learning function can become an indispensable strategic partner with a significant impact on the organisation’s goals.
If learning is poorly managed, it will be viewed as a cost with questionable value and little connection to the organisation’s goals or success. So how can leaders assess the importance of learning and development while also considering the return on investment and benefit-cost ratio?
In this deck, you’ll learn;
1. The critical importance of training and development.
2. The significant distinction between ROI and BCR.
3. What is the ROI methodology process made up of.
4. The benefit of ROI for your training program.

The Roman Empire A Historical Colossus.pdfkaushalkr1407
The Roman Empire, a vast and enduring power, stands as one of history's most remarkable civilizations, leaving an indelible imprint on the world. It emerged from the Roman Republic, transitioning into an imperial powerhouse under the leadership of Augustus Caesar in 27 BCE. This transformation marked the beginning of an era defined by unprecedented territorial expansion, architectural marvels, and profound cultural influence.
The empire's roots lie in the city of Rome, founded, according to legend, by Romulus in 753 BCE. Over centuries, Rome evolved from a small settlement to a formidable republic, characterized by a complex political system with elected officials and checks on power. However, internal strife, class conflicts, and military ambitions paved the way for the end of the Republic. Julius Caesar’s dictatorship and subsequent assassination in 44 BCE created a power vacuum, leading to a civil war. Octavian, later Augustus, emerged victorious, heralding the Roman Empire’s birth.
Under Augustus, the empire experienced the Pax Romana, a 200-year period of relative peace and stability. Augustus reformed the military, established efficient administrative systems, and initiated grand construction projects. The empire's borders expanded, encompassing territories from Britain to Egypt and from Spain to the Euphrates. Roman legions, renowned for their discipline and engineering prowess, secured and maintained these vast territories, building roads, fortifications, and cities that facilitated control and integration.
The Roman Empire’s society was hierarchical, with a rigid class system. At the top were the patricians, wealthy elites who held significant political power. Below them were the plebeians, free citizens with limited political influence, and the vast numbers of slaves who formed the backbone of the economy. The family unit was central, governed by the paterfamilias, the male head who held absolute authority.
Culturally, the Romans were eclectic, absorbing and adapting elements from the civilizations they encountered, particularly the Greeks. Roman art, literature, and philosophy reflected this synthesis, creating a rich cultural tapestry. Latin, the Roman language, became the lingua franca of the Western world, influencing numerous modern languages.
Roman architecture and engineering achievements were monumental. They perfected the arch, vault, and dome, constructing enduring structures like the Colosseum, Pantheon, and aqueducts. These engineering marvels not only showcased Roman ingenuity but also served practical purposes, from public entertainment to water supply.
We all have good and bad thoughts from time to time and situation to situation. We are bombarded daily with spiraling thoughts(both negative and positive) creating all-consuming feel , making us difficult to manage with associated suffering. Good thoughts are like our Mob Signal (Positive thought) amidst noise(negative thought) in the atmosphere. Negative thoughts like noise outweigh positive thoughts. These thoughts often create unwanted confusion, trouble, stress and frustration in our mind as well as chaos in our physical world. Negative thoughts are also known as “distorted thinking”.
2024.06.01 Introducing a competency framework for languag learning materials ...Sandy Millin
http://sandymillin.wordpress.com/iateflwebinar2024
Published classroom materials form the basis of syllabuses, drive teacher professional development, and have a potentially huge influence on learners, teachers and education systems. All teachers also create their own materials, whether a few sentences on a blackboard, a highly-structured fully-realised online course, or anything in between. Despite this, the knowledge and skills needed to create effective language learning materials are rarely part of teacher training, and are mostly learnt by trial and error.
Knowledge and skills frameworks, generally called competency frameworks, for ELT teachers, trainers and managers have existed for a few years now. However, until I created one for my MA dissertation, there wasn’t one drawing together what we need to know and do to be able to effectively produce language learning materials.
This webinar will introduce you to my framework, highlighting the key competencies I identified from my research. It will also show how anybody involved in language teaching (any language, not just English!), teacher training, managing schools or developing language learning materials can benefit from using the framework.

He discussed the concept of quality improvement, emphasizing its applicability to various aspects of life, including personal, project, and program improvements. He defined quality as doing the right thing at the right time in the right way to achieve the best possible results and discussed the concept of the "gap" between what we know and what we do, and how this gap represents the areas we need to improve. He explained the scientific approach to quality improvement, which involves systematic performance analysis, testing and learning, and implementing change ideas. He also highlighted the importance of client focus and a team approach to quality improvement.

Operation “Blue Star” is the only event in the history of Independent India where the state went into war with its own people. Even after about 40 years it is not clear if it was culmination of states anger over people of the region, a political game of power or start of dictatorial chapter in the democratic setup.
The people of Punjab felt alienated from main stream due to denial of their just demands during a long democratic struggle since independence. As it happen all over the word, it led to militant struggle with great loss of lives of military, police and civilian personnel. Killing of Indira Gandhi and massacre of innocent Sikhs in Delhi and other India cities was also associated with this movement.

2. WHAT MAKES ELEARNING
SUCCESSFUL?
HOW CAN AN ORGANIZATION
ENSURE THAT SUCCESS?
Business leaders increasingly recognize that providing employee
training is critical to success. Companies worldwide use
instructional content available on demand to build elearning
programs that drive positive outcomes.
More than 40 percent of global Fortune 500 companies had
embraced elearning strategies in 2013 (Ibis Capital). That same
year, elearning was a $56.2 billion industry. This was expected
to more than double by the end of 2015 (Global Industry Analysts).
Tremendous benefits result from elearning—chief among them
improving employee performance and productivity, aligning
expertise with business objectives, and providing consistent and
scalable training to a dispersed workforce.

4. SUCCESSFUL ELEARNING IN 4 STEPSSTEP NO O1 : IDENTIFY NEEDS
Identify Needs
A “one size fits all” approach to elearning is not sustainable. Each
department at your organization should consider its skill gaps
and document its training needs. For example, Human Resources
may need to improve new hire onboarding while IT needs to keep
engineers up to speed with the latest software. Understanding the
most critical pain points helps build a business case for elearning.

5. Working with department managers, take a few moments to answer these questions:
What are the
problems?
These could include a need
to increase performance
and productivity, encourage
innovation, create new
leaders, or improve
employee retention.
How big are the
problems?
Consider how many
employees are affected
in each department , to
what extent productivity
suffers, and which projects
are incomplete.
Could elearning
be a solution?
If the answer is no, ask
why. Is the department
unfamiliar with elearning?
Without buy-in, elearning
is less likely to succeed.
What are the
requirements?
These could include
integration with a learning
management system (LMS),
24/7 access, detailed
reporting. Look for
commonalities across teams
and departments.
| 04SUCCESSFUL ELEARNING IN 4 STEPSSTEP NO O1 : WORKING WITH DEPARTMENT MANAGERS
6. Set Goals
With needs identified, you and your team can start creating
a plan that exposes the value of elearning and set goals for
a future deployment.
02
| 05SUCCESSFUL ELEARNING IN 4 STEPSSTEP NO O2 : SET GOALS
7. To set goals, answer these questions.
Do department objectives
align with company goals?
example:
Management training in the IT
Department is needed as much as
it is company wide.
How can we reach our goals?
example:
With elearning, we can offer management
training anytime and anywhere—making
it easily accessible to all eligible employees,
who can learn at their own pace.
Do we need a short- or
long-term strategy?
example:
Several executives are expected
to retire in the next five years.
A long-term strategy would support
succession planning.
Why are these goals important?
example:
Management training would create
opportunities to promote employees,
which boosts staff retention and
reduces time spent on hiring and
onboarding.
| 06SUCCESSFUL ELEARNING IN 4 STEPSSTEP NO O2 : QUESTIONS TO SET GOALS
8. Decide How to Measure
Success, Track ROI
Measuring the effectiveness of elearning and tracking the return
on investment (ROI) is critical to confirming that goals are met.
Define metrics and key performance indicators (KPIs). Create
baselines and milestones. Effective elearning solutions offer
detailed reports that track usage, course completions, time spent
on the service, and more. Reports can help calculate ROI.
03
| 07SUCCESSFUL ELEARNING IN 4 STEPSSTEP NO O3 : DECIDE HOW TO MEASURE SUCCESS, TRACK ROI
9. To ensure success, plan on tracking three key metrics.
METRIC NO. 2:
Knowledge Acquisition
The goal is to confirm that learning
has occurred.
This measures knowledge, attitudes,
skills, or other attributes acquired.
To measure this, effective solutions
incorporate assessments that help
determine how much critical content
an employee learns.
METRIC NO. 3:
Behavior Change
The goal is to confirm changes in
performance and demonstrate positive ROI.
This measures use of new knowledge,
attitudes, and skills.
This is measured through observation,
performance benchmarks, project
analysis, and feedback from superiors or
subordinates. The easiest way to confirm
change is to document a deficiency before
and its reversal after training. Surveys are
great for documenting change.
METRIC NO. 1:
Employee Engagement
The goal is to evaluate whether training
is used. If not, why? The goal is not
determining the ultimate effectiveness
of training.
This measures interest and commitment,
and how often employees use online
training.
To measure this, effective solutions
provide reports that contain data on
user registrations, course progress and
completions, the frequency of logins,
and more.
| 08SUCCESSFUL ELEARNING IN 4 STEPSSTEP NO O3 : TRACKING THREE KEY METRICS
10. Secure Buy-In
When pitching the introduction or expansion of elearning to
decision makers, focus on the value exposed during the goal
setting described in Step No. 2. If possible, include ROI estimates.
To build a solid case, recruit an executive team or leader to sponsor
and support the project. Also, decide who will drive and manage
the project. For example, if IT has the primary need, it might make
sense for the vice president of technology to be the executive
sponsor. The IT director could be project manager.

service, the bigger the ROI.
What
processes
would be
impacted?
Describe processes that may
need to change as well as any
new responsibilities created.
Consider all departments.
What are
the
requirements?
List all resources needed,
including software and
technologies.
What’s
the risk of
using an
alternative?
Determine whether doing
something else—or nothing at
all—would reinforce the status
quo, reduce productivity, increase
employee turnover, or bring other
negative effects.
How will
success be
measured?
Be able to describe the metrics
and key performance indicators
(KPIs) you’ve identified. Be familiar
