Submersible pump
The document discusses submersible pumps. It defines a submersible pump as a pump with a hermetically sealed motor coupled to the pump body, allowing the entire assembly to be submerged. Submersible pumps are more efficient than jet pumps as they push fluid upward rather than pulling it. They work using multi-stage centrifugal pumps that use centrifugal force to convert kinetic to pressure energy as fluids pass through stages. Applications include drainage, sewage, wells, and irrigation.

A pump is a device that moves fluids (liquids or gases), or sometimes slurries, by mechanical action, typically converted from electrical energy into Hydraulic energy. Pumps can be classified into three major groups according to the method they use to move the fluid: direct lift, displacement, and gravity pumps.
Pumps come in a variety of sizes for a wide range of applications. They can be classified
according to their basic operating principle as dynamic or displacement pumps. Dynamic
pumps can be sub-classified as centrifugal and special effect pumps. Displacement pumps can
be sub-classified as rotary or reciprocating pumps.

Most modern ammonia processes are based on steam-reforming of natural gas or naphtha.
The 3 main technology suppliers are Uhde (Uhde/JM Partnership), Topsoe & KBR.
The process steps are very similar in all cases.
Other suppliers are Linde (LAC) & Ammonia Casale.
All About Centrifugal Pumps: Simple ExplanationFlowmore Pumps
Centrifugal pumps are capable of moving an extensive variability of fluids. It happens under a wide range of conditions. They continue to function for an extended period of time. It can happen due to their resilience.
Propeller pumps work by drawing water through an outer casing and out of a discharge outlet through a propeller vaned head. Propeller pumps are used in water treatment facilities.
Vertical turbine pumps from the best vertical turbine pumps suppliers are a subset of centrifugal pumps used to move fluid from a reservoir typically located underground.
Multistage diffusive pumps are produced with at least two impellers. The rotors can be introduced on something very similar or various shafts relying upon the setup. Assuming high pressures of the surge are required, the rotors can likewise participate in series. Nonetheless, on account of high limit prerequisites, they are in many cases associated with equality.

3. Introduction:-
A submersible pump (or sub pump, electric submersible pump (ESP))
is a device which has a hermetically sealed motor close-coupled to the
pump body.
The whole assembly is submerged
in the fluid to be pumped.
The main advantage of this type
of pump is that it prevents pump cavitation,
a problem associated with a high elevation
difference between pump and the fluid surface.
Submersible pumps push fluid to the surface
as opposed to jet pumps having to pull fluids.
Submersibles are more efficient than jet pumps.
4. Principle :-
The submersible pumps used in ESP
installations are multistage centrifugal pumps
operating in a vertical position. Although their
constructional and operational features
underwent a continuous evolution over the
years, their basic operational principle
remained the same. Produced liquids,
after being subjected to great centrifugal
forces caused by the high rotational speed
of the impeller, lose their kinetic energy in
the diffuser where a conversion of kinetic
to pressure energy takes place. This is the
main operational mechanism of radial
and mixed flow pumps.
5. Working :-
The pump shaft is connected to
the gas separator or the protector
by a mechanical coupling at the
bottom of the pump. Well fluids
enter the pump through an intake
screen and are lifted by the pump
stages. Other parts include the radial
bearings (bushings) distributed along
the length of the shaft providing
radial support to the pump shaft turning
at high rotational speeds. An optional
thrust bearing takes up part of the axial
forces arising in the pump but most of those
forces are absorbed by the protector’s thrust bearing.
6. Advantages :-
The major advantage
to a submersible pump is
that it never has to be
primed, because it is
already submerged in
the fluid.
They are also very
efficient because they
don’t really have to
spend a lot of energy
moving water into the
pump. Water pressure
pushes the water into a
submersible pump, thus
“saving” a lot of the
pump’s energy.
Submersible pumps
are quiet, because they
are under water, and
cavitation is never an
issue, because there is
no “spike” in pressure as
the water flows through
the pump.
7. Single stage pumps are used for drainage,
sewage pumping, general industrial
pumping and slurry pumping.
They are also popular with pond filters.
Multiple stage submersible pumps are
typically lowered down a borehole and
used for water abstraction, water wells
and in oil wells.
They are used in applications
including sewage treatment plants,
fire fighting, mine dewatering, irrigation
systems and water supply systems.
