This thesis examines factors influencing students' choice of FPT University in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam. A survey of 220 students at FPT University and two other universities found that the most influential factors were employment opportunities after graduation, quality of educational facilities, using English as the language of instruction, qualifications of lecturers, and university reputation. While some differences existed among student groups, there were more similarities. The study recommends FPT University continue emphasizing these influential factors in their recruiting communications targeting prospective students and their parents through various media and campus visits.

performance, students’ motivation and teaching methods. However, the class size has its impact over
the successful performance of students, which is the main topic of this scientific research. Regarding
the impact of class size, or more precisely, the number of students in the classroom, in student
performance, has developed an empirical research which results are reflected in this paper. The survey
was conducted in several schools of higher education in some Kosovo municipalities. by the outcomes
introduced it is intended to prove a dilemma that has existed for a long time for classes with smaller
number of students which tend to be more successful compared to the classes with higher number of
students. Furthermore, the review of the literature, is an important part of the paper, where intertwine
various theories regarding this issue, bringing different experiences of OECD countries regarding the
impact of class size on student performance. Finally, the performance of the students was tested in
different class sizes at the end of the school year to see if there is a difference in their outcome.

A famous Tennessee study in the 1980s found that elementary students in classes of 13-17 students achieved higher marks than those in larger classes. However, larger class sizes allow schools to enroll more students and reduce costs. There is ongoing debate around the complex tradeoffs of class size and its impact on learning outcomes.

Student stress is not relegated to high expectation environments. With the threat of violence, depleted resources, and community instability, students in urban and diverse schools face different stressors, but the effects on academic performance and well-being can be equally deleterious. Understanding these stressors and supporting students through stressful periods necessitates inquiry and involvement in multiple layers of a student's environment. Thus, Dr. Jennings takes an ecological approach to address student stress and learning in diverse and urban environments. This session will focus on resiliency as an outcome of support in families and schools (e.g., caring relationships, meaningful participation, and connectedness). In addition, Dr. Jennings will discuss measures of environmental support that buffer against stress. To close, Dr. Jennings will invite questions, thoughts, and reflections from the audience.

Much of the impetus for this research was the growing interest among institutional policy makers on how they might influence student enrollments. In this webinar, we will provide an overview of research about college choice that is relevant for admissions and enrollment management professionals. In particular, we will review the factors that influence students’ decisions and the timing of their college choice process. We will discuss differences among white, African American, Latino, and Asian American students with respect to these factors, as well as research on the factors influencing nontraditional students’ college choice. Although there is an abundance of research on middle school counseling, college readiness and belonging, there is a gap in the research regarding middle school students
and attempts to correlate their sense of belonging to college-going beliefs. Research identifies eighth grade as a critical time in a student’s education in which they make
important post-secondary decisions. The research stressed that a student’s academic achievement was not only influenced by intellectual abilities, but by their school climate. The purpose of this mixed methods study was to identify a correlation between school- based factors, specifically a student’s sense of belonging, and college-going beliefs. One hundred eighty-four eighth-grade students from a diverse suburban middle school were
surveyed on their college-going beliefs as well as their sense of belonging. In addition, focus groups were facilitated to further explore how students felt about their school environment and post-secondary planning. The findings showed a significant statistical correlation between students’ sense of school belonging and college-going beliefs. This is significant because it begins to address the void in the research identifying how school
based factors are related to students’ college-going beliefs. Focus group data also enhanced quantitative findings by highlighting how students who described a positive sense of belonging in school had strong intentions and higher confidence for attending college after high school. The results of this research will help educators improve programs, develop stronger relationships with students and strengthen the curriculum to better prepare students for high school and beyond. In 2004, Dr. William Allan Kritsonis was recognized as the Central Washington University Alumni Association Distinguished Alumnus for the College of Education and Professional Studies. Dr. Kritsonis was nominated by alumni, former students, friends, faculty, and staff. Final selection was made by the Alumni Association Board of Directors. Recipients are CWU graduates of 20 years or more and are recognized for achievement in their professional field and have made a positive contribution to society. For the second consecutive year, U.S. News and World Report placed Central Washington University among the top elite public institutions in the west. CWU was 12th on the list in the 2006 On-Line Education of “America’s Best Colleges.”

This dissertation examines the relationship between African American student experiences with school practices deemed important to achievement and performance in developmental education mathematics courses. A mixed methods approach was used, including administering a survey to 98 students measuring their experiences with seven correlates of effective schools. Qualitative interviews were also conducted with 34 students in focus groups. The study aimed to identify school leadership practices that resonate with African American learners and inform efforts to close achievement gaps.
