The market for Learning Management Systems is broad, with about 600 vendors worldwide. It makes the selection process quite an undertaking.
A structured approach facilitates the implementation of an LMS enormously. The overall process can be divided into 3 main phases: Evaluation and Selection, Implementation and Operation and Governance.
A thorough needs and requirement analysis guides the evaluation and underpins the final decision as the result of the first phase of the overall implementation process.
The go-live preparation not only consists of the configuration and testing of the new system. During the actual implementation phase a number of critical aspects need to be defined, such as the creation of interfaces with existing systems, permission rights and program structures.
The involvement of major stakeholders is as important as the communication about the progress within the company. The successful go-live marks the end of the second phase and the achievement of a major milestone, which is worthwhile celebrating.
In the third phase structures and processes are defined, which are used on one hand, to ensure a close alignment with operational and strategic goals. They constitute the so-called governance system. On the other hand it is important to create rules and regulations that give all participants binding structures and processes in order to ensure long-term transparency, orderliness, and ease of use, and prevent the LMS turning into a "LM-Mess”. Together the two aspects form the cornerstone for learning excellence, sustainable success and ROI.

More Than Passing Trends: New Critical Success Factors in IT Systems TrainingHuman Capital Media
They’re more than passing trends. Wisely incorporating contemporary learning factors — such as mobile, social, and multi-generational learning — into training strategies is generating measurably improved performance outcomes.
What many of us consider buzzwords are in fact powerful training approaches that, when used properly, can deliver not only higher returns on performance but also significantly higher rates of employee satisfaction and return on investment.
This 30-minute webcast with client case studies will examine these new critical success factors as they relate to IT systems training. Kelly Lake, a 25-year industry veteran and Aptara’s senior vice president of global strategic solutions, will address specifically how they apply, how to effectively address them during your planning phase and how to practically implement them during deployment. As with any strategy, there’s no one size fits all. The key to successfully employing new approaches is understanding when and where they make sense — for your learners, your locations and your culture.
Join us Tuesday, June 9, for a deeper understanding of the factors redefining end-user systems training and how to successfully apply them in your own organization.
In this session attendees will:
Learn how planning and alignment are the keys to performance improvement.
Understand how a multi-delivery approach will ensure success.
Understand the impact of generational learning.

e-Learning Management System : a Critical StudyKaustav Saha
The success of the e-learning paradigm observed in recent times has created a growing demand for e-learning systems in universities and other educational institutions, which has led to the development of a number of either commercial or open-source eLearning Management Systems (eLMS). How they work or, what they are doing? These are some new problems arising that demands appropriate solutions. The present discussion initially highlights certain distinctive features of e-learning management systems. Basically the idea of adaptive e-learning is being facilitated through the use, implementation and installation of various open source or commercial software. Such software for their operation requires specific platforms. Because of multiplicity of platforms and approaches for systems implementation, it becomes increasingly difficult to manage or compare them. Each new LMS presents its own learning model. How to compare different e-learning platforms, and on what basis to choose the most adequate one, is a task of ever increasing importance. Thus a comparative study has been used to enumerate the utility and effectiveness of some e-learning software like Moodle, Sakai, Atutor, Caroline and Dokeos. However, with implementation of different eLMS modules certain barriers have evolved. Issues related to these barriers would be addressed in the concluding section of this discussion. Besides this, the conclusion also provides insights in regard of what lies in future for the idea of e-learning management systems, and how can its drawbacks be resolved.

We suddenly live in a strange and wonderful nexus of digital and physical. Touchscreens let us hold information in our hands, and we touch, stretch, crumple, drag, and flick data itself. Our sensor-packed phones even reach beyond the screen to interact directly with the world around us. While these digital interfaces are becoming physical, the physical world is becoming digital, too. Objects, places, and even our bodies are lighting up with with sensors and connectivity. We’re not just clicking links anymore; we’re creating physical interfaces to digital systems. This requires new perspective and technique for web and product designers. The good news: it’s all within your reach. With a rich trove of examples, Designing for Touch author Josh Clark explores the practical, meaningful design opportunities for the web’s newly physical interfaces.

Smarter Integration Using the IBM SOA Foundation Stack: Best Practices and Le...Prolifics
Abstract: Enterprise integration can be challenging given the number of products, teams and technology frameworks involved. At the same time, most organizations require their applications to seamlessly communicate with each other, internally and externally. Our experience as field practitioners have enabled us to see these challenges up close and after fighting many battles to successfully implement integrated solutions, we want to share the best practices and lessons learned. We will be discussing IBM products such as DataPower, Integration Bus, BPM, WSRR and SmartCloud APM; however, many of these best practices are product and technology agnostic. We will be looking at what it takes from an organizational, personal and architecture perspective.

Picking Learning and Talent Technology to Perfect Your Organization’s Perform...Brandon Hall Group
Choosing the right learning or talent management technology is a daunting task. A bad decision could cost an organization immeasurable time and money, not to
mention the negative impact on talent development. Our research shows that nearly one out of two organizations are looking to choose another technology provider.
Can all this level of dissatisfaction be the fault of only the vendors or are organizations conducting a sub-optimized selection process?
Whether an organization is considering keeping its current learning or talent management technology, or exploring the replacement or supplement of its current technology, we can help by providing both analysis and recommendations.
Key take aways from this webinar include:
-How to identify the right requirements for choosing a technology?
-What are the steps to building impactful use cases?
-Why you need to create an RFI?
-When do you need to build your implementation and change management plan and what are the key elements?

FCB Partners Webinar: Implementation and ExecutionFCBPartners
Great designs don't implement themselves. You need well defined outcomes, specific operational changes and a plan of action - in that order - in other words, right-to-left thinking. Join Partner Kay Coleman as she explains why many performance initiatives fail to achieve their expected results, not because of flawed designs, but from poor implementation planning and execution. Some teams underestimate scope, time, or resources. Others miss critical dependencies or wait too long to engage stakeholders. But with careful planning, these risks can be minimized.
In this webinar, Kay will share her tested approach to successful implementation and execution in these simple steps:
Define the key business and system changes and their impacts on shareholders in concrete, behavioral terms
Determine the best implementation strategy for rolling out specific types of change
Develop a roadmap and a transition plan with timeline, dependencies, and milestones
Identify and mitigate risks
Translate business value into leading and lagging measures of performance
Reinforce adoption through organizational structure, governance, and systems

Appliance Warehouse Service Plan.
The discussion focuses on the appliance Warehouse Service Plan that is made up of the testing plan, an implementation plan and the training plan for the sake of the bettering of services in a warehouse. The testing plan is meant to manage the systems through QA standards meeting the needs of the customers. The implementation plan elaborates and indicates whether one should use parallel, direct, phased, or pilot changeover strategies. The training plan, on the other hand, indicates what a training plan would include for affected employees, such as appointment setters, technicians, management, and the parts department.
Testing Plan
The main reason for the testing plan is to validate and verify the information from the main source or the end to end target warehouse. The two major testing plans for include program testing and acceptance testing (Lewis, 2017). The plan should verify the following, the business required documents, ETL design for the documents, sources to target on the mapping process and the data model for the source and the target schemas. The documents that are considered are meant for the ETL development process in the testing plan. The testing plan is meant further for the supervisors or the quality analysis team to confirm that the work is concerning the objective of the organization. The process of testing might also include the configuration management system and the data quality validation and verification process.
Implementation Plan
The plan for the implementation of the systems is the same as the process that is considered during the development process of the entire system to meet the goals of the organization. The steps to consider for the whole plan of the implementation include the analysis and the enhancement requests, the writing of very simplified and new programs, restructuring of the database, analysis of the program library and its cost, and the reengineering of the test program. The first phase parallels the analysis phase as the parallel strategy is considered for the entire process, which entails the analysis phase of the SDLC. The steps two to four process entails the combining and the construction activities that are done on a new system majorly on a small scale. The last step is meant to parallel the testing that is commonly done during the implementation process. The testing process ensures that the process is free of risk as a quality assurance process (Liang & Hui, 2016).
Training Plan
The training plan should be made up of a training matrix in which it will guide them to know who needs the training what they need from the training and why they want the training not forgetting when they need the training(Kwak,2016). The matrix will allow for the planning and the preparation for the training avoiding scrambling when the due date for the training comes around. Early integration planning is critical for successfully implementing your M&A transaction. Mergers and acquisitions can create immediate value opportunities and provide a solid foundation for growth. However, a key challenge for any merger or acquisition is to quickly integrate operations using the same employees who are required to run the day-to-day business. Early planning, e.g., even prior to having a deal in place, will help you jumpstart the M&A integration process and can minimize employee distraction and workload. This document provides an overview of the steps that you can take to prepare for your merger or acquisition and successfully overcome these challenges.
