Personality And Psychodynamic Models Of Personality
Over the variation of the project, subject A has been tested over three different models of
personality. Each one provided different points to her personality and allowed for the most in
depth explanation of the subject s personality. Each of these models are also capable of acting as
a check and balance for the other. For example, between the trait and psychodynamic models.
One could compare the results from the Big 5 and how that matches to the Myers Briggs since
essentially those gave similar feedback. Once those are both taken accounted for, these could
give rise to a more accurate basis for the biological model, which is mainly inferred and not
factual in the first place. The most prominent trait across the trait and psychodynamic models
was the strength of A s introversion. In both of the personality tests taken, this was usually one
of the results that was very striking. When she was first introduced to the result of her
extraversion during the Big 5 test, only a 17, she was incredibly surprised with the data and
slightly appalled. Although she knew that was never the life of the party, she would have hardly
categorized herself as introverted. However, after reading the characteristics of introversion, she
came more to terms with the result and embraced her newly discovered trait. This helped her to
answer more accurately on the Myers Briggs which showed that she scored a 92 in introversion.
These two comparable scores allowed for an almost definitive agreement

Tinfish-Personal Narrative
Once upon a time, in a town called Athens nestled in the northeastern section of the state of
Georgia, there was a boy and a girl who, even though they thought they were the most unlikely of
lovers, fell madly in love. The story begins in November of 2012, when a junior guy named
Clarence at the University of Georgia was getting ready to play a show with his band Tinfish at
Bar South, one of the numerous times that he has played in downtown Athens, hoping for the day
that an agent standing in the crowd digs his guitar playing and decides to extend the offer of a
luxurious record deal. However, this night wouldn t turn out to be so fortunate. The bar was

I love you , Clarence mutters, struggling to pronounce every syllable. He didn t say it because he
thought Bailey would say it back, because he actually thought that would be the last thing she
would do, on account of his now hideous features. He said it because he just felt like it was the
right thing to say, as he continuously thought it the past few months. Bailey looks at Clarence,
and softly responds with the same three words that Clarence had just bravely forced out of his
mouth, I love you too, Clarence . For the first time since awakening from his coma, Clarence didn
t feel ugly. He instead was flooded with happiness so intense that he swore it was the happiest he
has ever felt in his life. He felt like he was the princely figure that this Beauty so much

Ford Mustang And The Chevrolet Camaro
GM and Ford team up again, but there are other partnerships between automotive rivals to consider.
Who would have thunk it?! For 2017, the Ford Mustang and the Chevrolet Camaro will share a 10
speed automatic transmission as a result of a collaborative engineering effort between General
Motors and the Ford Motor Company.
How s that again?
In 2013, Detroit s top rivals signed an agreement to jointly develop new 9 and 10 speed automatic
transmissions with front and rear wheel drive variants. The collaborative effort means both
companies are able to design, engineer, establish, test, corroborate and distribute new transmissions
at a faster rate and for a lower cost than they would have on their own.
Improved Performance, Better Efficiency
The effort has yielded a new 10 speed automatic transmission, one that will find its way into
various models over the next few years. That the two competing pony cars will share the same
transmission means one less important edge for both manufacturers. Instead, the two companies
will have to find other ways to beat each other with such factors as horsepower, steering and
handling, and aerodynamics providing key differences.
At the same time, buyers of both models will enjoy two important benefits 10 speed transmissions
provide better off the line acceleration with a shorter first gear and improved fuel economy with
the taller top gears. (Jim, see the Popular Mechanics explanation) Incidentally, the 10 speed will be

Chicken And Waffles Essay
Chicken and Waffles, an American classic combo. A dish where dinner meets breakfast and its
popularity grew from Harlem, New York. Chicken and Waffles is an American dish where
traditionally, fried chicken and a waffle are put together and is eaten with butter and syrup. There
are many different variations of this dish and you can either go sweet or spicy.
Chicken and Waffles was born in a time period called the Harlem Renaissance. The Harlem
Renaissance was part of the early twentieth century were African American culture was at its
golden age. There were singers, dancers and very famous musicians. Chicken and Waffles was
made at this time and it is still a big part of African American culture today. This culture is to sit
down together on a Sunday afternoon. To eat and spend time with their family. Chicken and
Waffles is a comfort food to the people. This dish helps brings family together and to enjoy their
company.
The first Chicken and Waffles ever invented was made by the Pennsylvania Dutch during the
1600 s. They made waffles then topped it with stewed chicken and gravy. Later the closest thing
to Chicken and Waffels was fried Catfish and Waffles. This dish was served up in Philadelphia s
hotels in the early 1800 s. In the 1860 s Waffles served with Chicken and Gravy was a huge hit in

Olympia, Heroes And Athletes By Judith Barringer
Idara Rodriguez. Review of J.M Barringer, The Temple of Zeus at Olympia, Heroes, and Athletes ,
2005, pp. 211 241
I chose to review Judith Barringer s article on the topic of why the sculpture works inside the
Temple of Zeus should be looked at as a whole collective ensemble. This is because they would
provide insight into how these works were seen and how they were closely related to Olympia and
all the activity that occurred there. Judith Barringer also discusses how these sculptures literally
acted as positive role models for the Olympic athletes that participated in the Olympic Games at the
time. Throughout this essay we will take a look at how exactly she goes about proving her points
and her reasoning behind them.
The author of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The athletes would then leave their own offerings in front of the statue of Zeus and the hero shrine
to Pelops, the Pelopion. The author goes on to discuss how many of the athletes
would peer down through colonnades at the Temple of Zeus where they would also catch glimpses
of the towering, immense, and an almighty seated Zeus overlaid with gold and ivory in the
temples cella. Barringer questions what these athletes would have seen when looking at these
massive works. She raises questions regarding what the myths depicted and conveyed back to them
and what meaning and purpose did the patrons of the temple intend. The article surges us back to
the present day and discusses how the architectural remains of the Temple of Zeus may leave it
quite difficult for the imagination to conjure up the likeness of the once massive architectural
spectacle. Though the sculptures remain in good condition they still received intense scrutiny from
early scholars. Barringer rears a good point on how these scholars would treat these sculptures and
pediments as not only separate entities from each other but all together separate from the activities
that took place at Olympia. The author states that her point for writing this article is to show that
these sculptures should be read as a whole meaningful ensemble coinciding within and with
Olympia and the famous Olympic Games by looking not only at the Temple of Zeus itself or

Advantages And Disadvantages Of Interiors
The Interiors Getting into the KUV100 is easy with high set seats and the design of the
dashboard with drooping borders is distinct and appealing. The cabin is spacious and airy. The
dashboard does not spread in all to the way to the floor and the gear lever is placed higher up on
the centre console. This frees up space for a seat in middle of the two front seats, making up for a
special 6 seater version.
The middle seating position in this variant does not seem very comfortable to sit on, but in India
where large families often travel together, this arrangement will work well for small children. A lap
belt has been provided for restraint. Three adults sitting together here will not be comfortable on
long journeys. If you fold down the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This 1.2 litre engine uses a cast iron block and aluminium head. It makes 77 bhp at 3750 rpm and
19.37 kgm torque at 1750 rpm 2250 rpm.
Start up on the ignition and the engine seems responsive from the word go but with its three
cylinder capacity, it comes into its own when the turbo has spooled up and that happens after 1900
rpm. Beyond this, you get enough pulling power. While there is no sudden increase in power
delivery and the engine does not rev quickly but you still get it in a linear way and there is constant
build up of power that makes driving in the city convenient.
You don t even need to change gears frequently. A little push down on the pedal gives you
adequate overtaking power. Although there is good amount of pulling power for city driving, this
engine fades out in higher rpm zones. You can go 100 km/hour at 2600 rpms.
The refinement level is fine for a three cylinder diesel engine. At idling the diesel clatter is audible
but on the road the noise levels are controlled well. Gear shifts seem satisfactory and the short
gear lever stick is good to use. Throws are slick and short. We expected a little more progressive

Age discrimination laws are enforced by Civil Rights Center and the Equal Employment
Opportunity Commission (EEOC). The Age Discrimination in Employment Act of 1967 and The
Age Discrimination Act of 1975 are laws that govern age discrimination.
The Age Discrimination in Employment Act of 1967 Congress found that older workers were
finding themselves disadvantaged in retaining jobs; in many cases companies were setting age
limits regardless of the person s ability to work. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission
(EEOC) provides information concerning the needs and abilities of older workers. These studies
found that long term unemployment in seniors often results in deterioration of morale and skill.
The EEOC sponsors and assist State and community informational and educational programs. The
ADEA prohibits arbitrary age discrimination by employers whom work with businesses and
workers alike to solve problems that arise (The Age Discrimination in Employment Act of 1967).
There are strict prohibitions of age discrimination.
An employer cannot refuse to hire or discharge an employee due to age. Employers cannot deprive
any individual of employment because of their age. It is unlawful to reduce the wage rate because
of age. Employment agencies cannot withhold

Figurative Language In Harry Hume s The Cough By Harry Hume
The Cough Harry Hume s short story The Cough uses figurative language to show that the father
works as a miner and as a result is getting sick but cannot stop working as his job is the only thing
keeping the family afloat. The diction used in this micro story illustrates how the father s job as a
miner seeps into every part of their life. The personification of the coughsets out to illustrate the
father s illness not as something evil or destructive, but simply as a nuisance. The symbolism of
the Orrery demonstrates how the author views their father s sickness as the core of his world,
responsible for making their lives function. Hume s is able to show an entire family s state and
story in a few paragraphs by using carefully selected words and literary devices to make the reader
infer the information rather than say it explicitly. The personification of the cough shows that it is
such a constant presence in the family s life that it almost acts as a family member. The description
of the cough behaving like a childboth makes the reader view the cough as a member of the author
s family and implies that the author does not view the cough as necessarily malignant. However,
the cough is a nuisance much like a little kid is a nuisance because it is always hungry and
demand[ed] attention. The cough being always hungry makes the reader think of a little kid
wanting food rather than a lungdisease that forces the father to constantly cough and the cough
demand[ing] attention makes the reader think of a pesky child rather than the constant sounds
of the father coughing. These descriptions fit in with the personification of a child and make the
reader see the cough as more of a helpless thing that needs to be taken care of rather than
insidious and evil. The personification of the cough as a child also acts as if the author sees the
cough as a part of the family, both emphasizing its constant presence and the author s almost
benign view of the cough. The imagery used in The Cough illustrates the father s life as a miner.
The father is first described as walking down Ash Alley, which both makes the reader visualize a
gray and dingy alleyway while also drawing from the same imagery of a

The Importance Of The Gaia Theory
Known as the Gaia Theory aptly named after the Ancient Greek primordial deity Gaia, a primal
Mother Earth goddess who birthed all life in existence Lovelock argued that organisms would
interact with their inorganic surroundings to form a synergistic self regulating system capable of
maintaining and perpetuating the conditions necessary for life. This self regulatory system, named
Gaia, results from the close coupling between organisms and their environment to create a Mother
Earth that seeks a consistent physical and chemical environment optimal for nurturing life, able to
resist change if necessary. For example, consider a thermostat. If a home becomes too warm or
cold for comfortable living, a thermostat can be adjusted to regulate the temperature and re
establish normal, comfortable heat. In the context of Gaia Theory, rather than seek to restore a
pleasant temperature, the Gaia system will correct for alterations in atmospheric composition,
global temperatures, ocean salinity, and other variables to re establish an environment suitable for
life. Moreover, instead of a simple thermostat that begins the warming or cooling process, the
natural, complex relationships between biota (living) and abiota (non living) will sense the
chemical and physical shifts away from preferable levels and trigger the necessary corrective
actions. The Gaia Theory is, at its simplest level, a collection of negative feedback loops involving
living and nonliving components that respond

Plague And Death In The Cairo Calendar
The Cairo Calendar restates the information that was presented within the Book of the Five Days
in Addition to the Year. The information which pertained to the birthdays of the five gods, as
well as the names of the epagomenal days; although in a slightly altered order as Spalinger
discussed to a great length, however the topic of plague and disease is still foremost. The
Egyptian text declares that the person who knows the names of the epagomenal days will not die
of the plague that persists during this time of year also that he will not be possessed by any
disease. The first part of the text speaks of the benefits one has if they know all of the names of the
epagomenal days, but, instead of text being about the reverence towards disease,... Show more

The individual performing the ritual demands that the enemies, death being one, must be
terminated during this period in time; this text allows a fresh new understanding of the Ancient
Egyptian opinion of the days in addition of the year . The Egyptian text may have also been
meant to be interpreted as the Egyptians seeing the epagomenal days as a time of purification,
meaning that their enemies , disease, plague, and death were to be terminated. The last statement
of the former quote, may they save , could be understood to be implying a connection to the
epagomenal days of the previous phrase, may their corpses . With the exegesis of purification in
mind it could possibly be use to describe other Ancient Egyptian texts, such as the plague of the
year which could be seen as some type of celestial plague with the purpose of ridding Egypt of its
enemies during the epagomenal period. The Myth of the Heavenly Cow may possibly fit this
formula as well, with raging Sekhmet being sent to eradicate mankind when they started to riot
against Ra (Re). The Cairo Calendar text provides more support, with several prayers to the gods,
all with the common form O (god + title). Will you protect me from any bad/ evil things, from
any slaughter of the year with the name of the prayed epagomenal day following. The phrase
slaughter of the year could be signifying another yearly plague, therefore by reciting the
individual name of the epagomenal days to the appropriate god or goddess, a person is able to
protect themselves from harm on that day. Knowledge of the names of these days is important
since they are the only means of defense against any evil thing; whether it be thirst, hunger, disease
and plague, or from Sekhmet overcoming you. Fear

Wasteland Motherhood
Motherhood is an extremely complicated process that every mother goes through when taking on
the choice to acquire a child. Based on the individual, this process can be one that is natural or
extremely difficult to execute. Within this process, there are new issues and mindsets that emerge
in the threshold of motherhood that creates intense struggles. In the texts Waste Land (Walker,
2010) by Lucy Walker and Morning Song by Sylvia Plath the poet and director display these issues
and mindsets within these two different mediums that arise in the never ending process. These texts
connect to one another by demonstrating and including struggles of urges to provide, emotions of
detachment, and improving mindsets through the process of motherhood.... Show more content on

Within the article, Plaths Morning Song David Ketterer makes the statement about how Morning
Song expresses Plath s conflicted feelings at the birth of her first child... (242 243). These feelings
are implied adamantly throughout the poem and start off as feelings of detachment. The speaker
of Morning Song exclaims We stand around blankly as walls when describing her mental
composure to the audience. At this point the reader understands that the concept of motherhood is
wildly new to the speaker and she has no idea what to do or how to connect herself to the child.
The speaker also depicts the child as a new statue (line 4). This comparison is one that shows the
audience that the mother sees the child as something mystifying and not human. Consequently, if
she cannot view the child as an opposite of these characteristics, then she will fail to recognize
her duties as a mother. And if she fails to recognize this, she will also fail to create a stable
connection and positive feeling towards her new born child. However, these feelings of detachment
later cease to exist towards the final two stanzas of the poem, unlike the intense feelings displayed

The Burdens of Illegal Immigrants and Illegal Immigration...
The Burdens of Illegal Immigrants and Illegal Immigration
The United States was formed by the immigration of many people from all over the world.
Americans take pride in knowing that we are a people of vast ethnic backgrounds and culture.
However, at the present time, the flow of illegal immigration, as well as a large influx of other
legal immigrants is placing a strain on our land of huddled masses. Legal immigration to the United
States can easily be handled and is welcomed by most Americans. However, the flow of illegal
immigrants, especially from Mexico, must be stemmed, due to the strain it is placing on the
government, (at the local, state and federal level), as well as the general population. Illegal

By taking jobs, illegal immigrants are placing a strain on the unemployment benefits which non
working Americans would not have to collect if there were more jobs. Another fact to consider, by
taking the money illegal immigrants earn back to their own country, they cause a reduction of
secondary profit. This means that money earned will be spent on products outside the United
States, thereby decreasing tax profits for the government. One thing is clear, the United States
cannot afford this influx of low skilled, low paid people if it wants to remain a welfare state.
The U.S. government depends on taxpayers money to support its programs. These programs
include welfare, Medicare, Medicaid, and food stamps, as well as law enforcement. With the
influx of illegal immigrants into the United States, all of these programs are facing problems. An
estimated 13% of all funding to these government programs is used to support illegal immigrants
(National Review 12.13.93) In addition to these previous figures, add the cost of the salaries of
the more than 4,000 patrolmen used to guard the 7,582 mile border between the U.S. to the North
and Mexico to the South (Fortune 9.9.93). Other expenses include a one billion dollar
immigration budget for the next fiscal year (AP 3.3.95). By looking at these and other facts, it is
obvious there is a large monetary burden being placed on the U.S. taxpayer. The stress created by
this economic burden along with other job related stresses

The Conservation Assessment Of Common Trout And Colorado...
INTRODUCTION
The purpose of this conservation assessment is to provide land managers and the general public
with an overview of the distribution and status of common trout (brook trout Salvelinus fontinalis;
brown trout Salmo trutta; and rainbow trout Oncorhynchus mykiss) on the Grand Mesa,
Uncompahgre, and Gunnison National Forests (hereafter, GMUG). Common trout species are part
of a suite of Management Indicator Species (MIS) ...which are monitored during forest plan
implementation in order to assess the effects of management activities on their populations and the
populations of other species with similar habitat needs which they may represent (Forest Service
Manual 2620.5). MIS assessments are revised every five years and each is a synthesis of the most
recent field based observations and peer reviewed science pertaining to the species.
Common trout and Colorado River cutthroat trout (O. clarkii stomias) are MIS representing aquatic
habitats on the GMUG. A variety of land management activities can affect lake and stream habitats,
including traditional forestry practices, road construction and maintenance, fire and fuels
management, and water development. The presence of MIS species in a watershed is not an
obstacle to active forest management. On the contrary, MIS species are used by Forest personnel to
gauge the response of the entire forest ecosystem to land management projects we implement. In
particular, common trout were selected to assess effects of

Reasons I Chose Air Traffic Controller
Reason I Chose Air Traffic Controller
I chose to do my paper on being a Air Traffic Controller, and what Air Traffic Control because it
seems like a job in aviation that I would be interested in. The pay is good and overall it seems like
a good job and field to go into.
Air Traffic Controller
Air traffic controllers direct the movement of air traffic, to make sure that aircraft stay safe
distances apart. Air traffic controllers have many duties such as, issuing landing and takeoff
instructions to pilots, controlling ground traffic, help directing the movement of aircraft in air
and on the ground, and etc. Air traffic controllers work in control towers, approach control
buildings, or en route centers. Some are located at airports and others are not. Air traffic
controllers with 20 years of experience are able to retire at age 50. Controllers must retire at age
56. Most air traffic controllers work full time. The median annual wage for air traffic controllers is
$122,530.

Women Of The Victorian Era
Intro Throughout history, women are casted with the role of being docile, obedient, and fragile by
the traditional values of the patriarchy society. In the nineteenth century during the Victorian era,
men expect women to maintain the domestic sphere as a cheerful pure haven for them when they
return home from work. The cult of true womanhood which was believed by both the Northern and
Southern states at the time was based on four main ideas: the sphere of home and the competitive
world outside which contrast the female and male nature; the belief that the home is the female s
only suitable sphere; women s moral superiority; and the idealization for women to behave as wife
and mother. It was expected that the world outside of home belongs to men because of its brutal
environment and competitive atmosphere, and women belongs to the moral sanctuary of society
called home. There are other influences that furthermore constrict women by spreading ideas of
how women should behave. Books and articles written by female and male authors often ask
women to be religious, domestic, and womanly to glorify their feminine role and seek fulfillment
within their own sphere. However, many women refused to be constrained by male dominance,
propriety, and the ideology of feminine virtue that paralyzed many Victorian women. Some
expressed their grievances against male authority, stereotypes about women, and their lack of power
in political dilemmas by writing. Female authors such as Charlotte

Child Labour In Colombia Essay
The child labour is a serious widespread social problem for the rural and urban Colombia. There
are many reasons why the children in this country are submitted to work either by their own or an
obligation.
Until some years ago, in the rural zone the families were numerous specially to ensure a cheaper
workforce showing a well known growth of the population in these zones instead of the urban ones
where one didn t see this problem and increasing the incident of poverty. So, the principal reason of
child labour in Colombia is that the children meet forced to help economically their families
according to an investigation of the Dane.
Accessing to education is a challenge for many Colombian children, especially indigenous and Afro
Colombian because is hindered by internal armed conflict, impassible routes and long distances
between the children s homes and the school in rural areas.
Domestic work is an issue that Colombia began to address relatively in 2014, in consultation with
the ILO. More work is needed to change the cultural belief that domestic work doesnВґt constitute
child labor, a belief that particularly disadvantages girls, who are the majority of those who labor
in the privacy of the home where child labor is more difficult to detect. Household chores are
classified among the worst forms of child labor (servitude, domestic work), and accidents in the
home are the fourth most common cause of death and injury in Colombia.
This issue affects in diverse ways around the

Navy figured out that it is good for warfare but it is less ideal when the destroyer is operating in

Subject:Availability of Corporate Reorganization
Summary of Facts
Chris and Sue are 50 percent shareholders in BackBone personal service corporation. Backbone
provides chiropractic services in four separate offices, in four small towns: Troy, Union, Vista
and Willow. Chris is the main chiropractor in the Troy office, and Sue heads up the Vista office.
Charlie, the main chiropractor in the Willow office, does not see eye to eye with Chris and Sue
on management styles. Charlie is highly competent and well liked by patients and therefore
indispensable in the eyes of Chris and Sue. Chris and Sue may be willing to give Charlie control of
the Willow office, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In addition, Chris and Sue will not have to worry about any loss of profits since the profits of the
new subsidiary corporation will flow through to the BackBone personal service corporation.
Issue and Conclusion 2
How should the corporate reorganization be structured?
The corporate reorganization should be structured as a divisive D reorganization and the
restructuring process should conform to section 355 of the tax law in order to minimize the tax
consequences of the reorganization.
Law and Analysis 2
Section 368(a)(1) of the tax code provides several options for corporate reorganizations. Section
368(a)(1)(d), also known as a divisive D reorganization , is the best choice for this particular
situation. In a divisive D reorganization, the controlling corporation (in this case, BackBone) will
distribute assets (the Willow office) to a newly formed subsidiary corporation, in exchange for the
stock of the new subsidiary corporation, in a transaction that qualifies under section 355 (Sec.
368(a)(1)(d)). After the transaction is complete, the Willow office will be its own corporation
which is wholly (or at least mostly) owned by BackBone. BackBone will also still own and control
the Troy, Union and Vista offices after the reorganization.
Issue and Conclusion 3
What will be the tax consequences of the reorganization?
Section 355 of the tax code will drastically reduce, or even completely eliminate, any tax liability
caused by

Their vision statement recognizes the means of setting a central goal that Starbucks aspire to reach,
that ambition has altered the company s vision over the years. For example, Charles Shultz
envisioned the company operating 2000 stores within the United States by the year 2000.
Unfortunately, that objective was not possible due to the risk the company undertook. After
rethinking the company s inherent worth, a simplified vision of, being the most recognized coffee

the title as such (Starbucks Corporation, 2010).
Starbucks desire as the leader in the specialty coffee industry is to be acknowledged for its

primary stakeholders are broad organizations such as, coffee trade associations, suppliers, and
groups with interest in sustainable coffee production. Including non profit groups focused on

Viking History and Culture
Viking Culture Viking history and culture have been depicted in many movies, television series,
and stories. Vikings are commonly known as barbarians that raid villages and intimidate others
with huge ships with dragon heads, and horned helmets. This information is based on facts, but
has been distorted and exaggerated over many years and tales. Viking history spans from the
years 780 until 1100, which is the time span of the Viking raids. Not every Scandinavian was a
Viking; Vikings were known as the men that conducted raids and bloody battles. The old
definition of Viking was synonymous with the term pirate. The modern definition is relevant to
the Scandinavian medieval culture, to include farming, crafting and trading. The people from
the north, Norsemen, lived in villages and on dispersed farms in various regions. The
Norwegian Vikings were from Iceland and Ireland. The Danish Vikings were from France and
Britain. The Swedish Vikings were from Russia. Regardless of region, Vikings are addressed as
one group of people. Written documentation from this era, sagas specify the region of Vikings
being recorded. The Vikings government was unlike any other at that time. In fact, there was no
emperor, king, or lord. The only sagas found about Viking law were written late in the 10th century
in Iceland. The people were governed by consensus, and legal issues were resolved by compromise
and negotiation. This doesn t mean that feuds didn t

Like Water For Chocolate Feminist Analysis
The Roles of feminism in the novel Like Water for Chocolate Despite the fact that the novel is

male Mexican figure (Ibsen, 1997, p. 111). The novel can be described as simplistic, infantile,
lacking any clearly defined stylistic intention, and trendy . However, Ibsen argues that, Esquivel

After reading the novel and comparing it to the Mexican culture, this paper will portray Laura

Summary Of The March Of Washington Speech
In the speech that took place during the March of Washington, the speaker John Lewis argues in
favor of African American rights. Lewis purpose when delivering the speech was to make people
aware of the difficulties that African Americans are going through at that time as well as to
encourage them to fight for their rights that they deserve. Lewis maintains a serious and agitated
tone that helps persuade the audience into realizing the hardships that African Americans must go
through on a daily basis because they do not have rights and uses a series of rhetorical strategies
that help strengthen his point. John Lewis represented the people that were prohibited to have their
rights, and when giving the speech, he hopes to create a difference not only in the world but also
within the people themselves. John Lewis begins his remarks by revealing his attitude that civil
rights leaders should not congratulate themselves yet and that there is still a long road before
African Americans have true freedom. To immediately complicate the notion of being satisfied with
the progress of the civil rights movement that other speakers proclaimed, he announces, We march
today for jobs and freedom, but we have nothing to be proud of (para 1). The essence of Lewis
argument is that the leaders of the civil rights movement are marching for workplace fairness and
equality for African Americans, but they should not stop and congratulate themselves. Significantly,

Open Carry Law In Texas
In the light of recent events and crimes across the nation, the Texas legislature has adopted a new
law in attempt to decrease crime. The new law, which allows for the licensed gun holders to carry
their weapon openly, went into effect on January 1st, 2016, and it is particularly disquieting to
some due to the size of the state of Texas. Normally, as with any law, there will be unintended
social consequences that affect both those with position of power and the general public. Thus, the
introduction of the open carry law in Texas will create misunderstandings between the public and
authorities and will psychologically affect the general public s idea of firearms.
General Confusion of the Authorities
Overall, the new law in texas is still not ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The main reason for the introduction of the open carry law was to reduce crime due to the threat a
gun poses and how it will deter potential thieves, robbers and criminals from injuring an
individual due to the presence of a gun. Thus, it is intended so that guns will make the civilians
feel safe and create fear in the potential criminals. While open carry law states do have a 23% less
crime rate than non open carry law states, there hasn t been any data suggesting that open carry
law caused the decrease in crime, just that the crime in that specific state is lowered than the
other ones (politifacts) . There is, however, information that the presence of a gun does cause
trepidation within an individual. When someone is in possession of a gun, they tend to be more
aggressive (Lurie, 2015). Also, due to the current occurrences in America, the general public
also has instilled a psychological fear when they see guns. With American mass shooting
incidents [rising] to 247 a year, it is no doubt that gun control has become an important topic to
the public [washington post]. People have a similar imbedded fear similar to phobias to guns as
they do for snakes and other natural predators (mother jones) . With the new open carry law
being passed, there will be a larger public exposure to guns and other firearms. While these may be
carried in holsters, they are open for all to see, whether criminal or innocent. In the short run,
people will panic at the sight of these and feel as if their personal security is threatened, but with
constant exposure to the firearm, the public will slowly become desensitized to guns (Csulb). With
the desensitization, guns will become more commonplace and the fears that once arose within
individuals will be subsided. Overall, while this tactic of allowing to openly carry a firearm is an
attempt at trying to

The Appointment By Aphra Behn
Aphra Behn s The Disappointment addresses three main conflicts regarding gender, power and
sexuality. Behn challenges the traditional gender roles accepted by the British society during the
17th century; that men are always in a position of power, by making Cloris, her female character
dominant over the male character Lysander and giving her the authority. Behn further challenges
the position of men in being the dominant genderin the sexual sphere and discusses masculine
identity and how it is measured by the ability of men to successfully perform and satisfy women s
sexual desires, and how women take charge and be in control when men s perform poorly.

Here, Cloris pulls her lover to her body and the poet uses the verb permits which implies that she
is in power to choose whether she wants to give Lysander her virginity or not and that she s not
being forced to do anything without her own desire. Behn expands the conflicts of gender
dominance and sexuality in the rest of the poem. The traditional gender roles are being
overthrown when Lysander is incapable of pleasing Cloris. Here, Behn is addressing the women
dominance over men. Lysander s masculinity is being questioned and, for this reason, he is
feeling ashamed. In addition, Behn is using religious language to support her claims But oh
what envious gods conspire/ To snatch his power, yet leave him the desire! (79,80). Here Behn
is referring to Cloris as god and Lysander isn t satisfying her sexual desires. The fact that his sexual
performance is not fulfilling his lover s needs, Cloris is able to take away her lover s power and
make him feel insecure. In the next stanzas Lysander s impotence is shown as the reason behind
Cloris s empowerment and the purpose of Lysander s feelings of rage and shame Now all the brisk

Baseball And Softball Are The Victim Of It Essay
It is hard to feel injustice if you do not realize you are the victim of it. Logistically, baseball and
softball are different sports although they seem very similar. Confusing them as the same sport
seems innocent enough, until you truly begin to understand the differences and why they exist. It is
nationally understood that baseballis for boys and softball is for girls. The girls sport is baseball,
but softer. It is meant to be easier and less complicated than baseball. The difference between a
baseball and a softball is three inches (Rules of Sport). It is amazing the amount of oppression
caused by those three inches.
If the heroines in Ring s book were treated fairly, surely there would not be such a book. Men,
significantly Spalding, took a widely accepted coed s game and turned it into a game that shows

baseball into a way to prove his worth and his manliness. After all, it sure is hard to prove you
are a man when you are getting beat by women, right? The ironic part about Spalding s claim is
that while baseball is decidedly a men s game, it does not fit the general definition of manly.

the engine that s why it is called the blower Bentley. The Bentley 4.5 liter was made from 1927 to
1931. James Bond bought his in 1933. They only produced 720 4.5 liter Bentleys. Only fifty five
of them included the supercharger made by Amherst Villiers. The Bentley 4.5 liter was a perfect
car for James Bond at the time. It matched him. It was fast with the supercharger. The car helps
him chase down a Citroen that Le Chiffre drove. In Casino Royale the third burglar was named Le
Chiffre and he jumped in a Citroen and tried to escape James Bond. in the book Casino Royale
the do not give us much information about the Citroen he drove but with the information we are
given we can narrow it down to it being a 1950 Citroen Traction Avant. They were made from 1934

James Bond needs a fast car for his job. Because at some points he must case somebody down in a
car or he has to get somewhere fast so having a fast car is ideal for his job. James bond s cars

needs a car that is silent to get the job done under cover. Just like how he has to be silent to get the

THE LOST SHEEP, LOST COIN AND LOST SON Essay
During Jesus life he was teaching in many different ways one of them was telling the parables.
Parable is an earthly story with the heavenly meaning. That means that Jesus was making up a
story in which there would be a real people, working of doing something that was common at that
times. Sometimes he used the values whether material or spiritual, that were valuable in old times.
So he was making everything to make the story look more realistic. But under the close of the poor
man or woman and under the animal or a subject there was always something mach more
complicated, something about his father, himself, and the people that were following the God or
not. Jesus was telling the parable pretty often, usually the audience was tax... Show more content on

And another is to understand a parable like an old story about the God helping the people
mentally or something like that. When you are reading the parable about The Lost Coin for the
first time, the meaning of it might look like that to you. The woman had 10 coins and she lost
one them she tried to find it really hard, she spend a lot of time searching for it with the lamp and
when she finally found the coin she was so happy. She is so poor and god helped her to find it.
God is a good person because he helps poor people might be your conclusion. Yes the God is
good. But the main topic, main idea, of the parable is deeply inside. By the character of a
woman Jesus meant himself. By the lost coin he meant a lost person or sinner. The friends and
neighbors were probably mentioned there as an Angels. The main thing there is the house: very
dark, lit only by one circular 18 inch window. The floor was packed dirt, covered by dry reeds
and rushes. 2 that represents the Earth. From the Bible we can see that the lamp was needed to
search for a small coin in the house, even in the daytime. That means that Jesus needed something
to search, for lost people , something bright and important like fire. And that something had to be
the Kingdom of Good. In the old days the coin that the woman lost was called drachma, which was
equal to the Roman denarius, and worth about 20 cents today. However, it had the purchasing

Abstract
Al Qaeda is arguably the most well known and most dangerous Islamic terrorist organization in the
world. It was established around 1990 by a Saudi millionaire, Osama Bin Laden, to bring together
Arabs who fought in Afghanistan against the Soviet invasion. The goal of the organization is to
reestablish the Muslim state throughout the world. Al Qaeda works with allied Islamic extremist
groups to overthrow regimes it deems non Islamic and remove Westerners from Muslin countries.
Groups affiliated with Al Qaeda have conducted numerous bombings and other violent attacks
throughout the world that have resulted in the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
These plots included the bombings of the African Embassies in 1998 and the September 11, 2001
attacks. Following the September 11, 2001 attacks against America, American led forces toppled
the Taliban regime in Afghanistan. Approximately half of the senior Al Qaeda leadership was
captured during the American led campaign, along with crippling the group s communication
network. The exact size of Al Qaeda is unknown, but the group likely has several thousand
fighters. The estimated numbers of people who trained in camps or fought in Afghanistan
ranges from 20,000 to 60,000 but these are not all Al Qaeda members. Al Qaeda serves as an
umbrella organization that carries out its own terrorist acts as well as a focal point for other
extremist groups. Some experts believe that Al Qaeda is an organization in transition. The losses
of many of the group s leaders and their base in Afghanistan have disrupted the organization.
While Al Qaeda s definitive structure is unknown, experts fear that the organization can continue
to operate if they lose senior leaders due to the entrepreneurial spirit in its lower level fighters. Al
Qaeda is a network with global reach and is reinforced by its ties to Sunni extremist networks.
Until the American led attack, Afghanistan was where Al Qaeda s base of operation, logistics, and
training facilities were. Al Qaeda has since branched out and has cells or collaborators found in
south Asia, Southeast Asia, the

We Should Invest Our Tax Dollars Essay
INTRODUCTION
I grew up in South Akron, and graduated from Garfield High school. This high school has meant a
lot to the community and the students that attended it. This is not just a building, but an institution
that has turned out a lot of great minds and professional athletes. Losing the high school in this
district would be devastating. I feel that we should invest our tax dollars in our own city, and worry
about the future of our own child, by keeping Akron schools in the community of Akron.
Purpose
Garfield high along with Kenmore High school have been slotted to be torn down. There are no
dates as of yet to when the projects will start. The removal of these two public two public high
schools would leave the entire southern portion of Akron and nearby Kenmore without a high
school in or near these districts.
Problem
Building the learning site in Kenmore would cause major busing problems. The city already
owns the property of Garfield High school, so why go out and spend money for property, when
you have a property already available? Some people may disagree and say Kenmore is an
excellent choice property wise, and the land is readily available. I feel that we should invest our
tax dollars in our own city, and worry about the future of our own child, by keeping Akron schools
in the community of Akron.
Scope
My proposal for a solution to the problem is to build a new learning center on the site occupied
Garfield High school. This would give the southern portion of

Gulliver s Travels by Jonathan Swift
Society vs. Individuality In the novel Gulliver s Travels by Jonathan Swift, the influence that
society has on Gulliver is very detectable in this book. Throughout the novel, Gulliver repeatedly,
finds himself in predicaments because societal norms and the role of government in our society.
Swift shows how the idea of who people are due to their position in society. Gulliver is an
outsider to the society of Lilliput, he tries to fit into their world but fails, not only because of his
size but because of their governmental treason. I believe, Swift wrote the story of Liliput to try
and illustrate to us the idea that society and government corrupts individuals. This is shown by the
relationships between Gulliver and self oriented individuals and society oriented individuals. Swift
demonstrates that the government has questionable motives, in the Acts of Conduct that Gulliver
has to learn it has in it the description of basically what the King can and cannot do. The first rule
they explain is ...the obedience to the king out of terror rather than out of respect . The King
shows the fear he instills in his subjects by the phrase, the Princes of the Earth shake their Knees
(25). The King also tries to rule the heavens and the Earth, whose Feet press down to the Center,
and whose Head strikes against the sun (25). Even though the king is within his rule, the reader will
find the King s methods harsh. Swift is implying that for men to have control over their government

What Are Beethoven s Major Accomplishments
Beethoven, is a well known name that one definitely knows for his famous works. Born on
December 16, 1770 , Germany, he was the oldest son of Johann and Maria Magdalena van
Beethoven. His father was a singer however, was more well known for his alcohol addiction..
Between the birth of his second brother, Beethoven s father taught him how to play music in an
abusive way, hitting Beethoven when he didn t play the music piece properly. Thus, Beethoven
became a brilliant composer and piano player at a young age. For example, Beethoven at the age
of 19 composed a musical piece for Holy Roman Emperor Joseph II, who had died and it was a

Germany. His parents, Georg and Dorothea Handel had no relation to music. His father believed
becoming a musician will result in a Handel becoming successful and didn t even allow Handle
to own an instrument. On the other hand, his mother supported him and believed he should
pursue his talents and let Handel take music lessons without the knowledge of his father.
Although his father told him to become a lawyer, he disagreed and accepted a violinist position
at Hamburg Opera s Goose Market in 1703 at the age of 18. During 1706 to 1710, he moved to
Italy to expand his abilities and composed the operas Rodrigo and Agrippina. He later moved to
London and composed Rinaldo which was his stepping stone to becoming a famous composer.
After operas, Handel took on the challenge of writing oratorios and produced the well known
opera, Messiah which was debuted on April 1742. Other famous works Handel composed was
Hallelujah and The Arrival of the Queen of Sheba. After encountering a lot of stress, Handel had
problems with his health. In 1737, Handel had a stroke that limited the use of his right
hand.Fortunately, he recovered quickly. Likewise, Handel Faced another stoke recovered. After a
while, he became blind in his left eye and slowly the right eye. However, his passion for music did

Come along as an adventure through time takes launch. From the interim of Arthur Miller s birth
and death, he wrote some of America s greatest plays which are known all around the world. This
world renowned screenwriter and playwright is arguably considered the best playwright of the
20th century. We start our journey here on October 17, 1915 in Harlem, New York where Miller
was born. Arther Miller was the son of Isidore and Augusta, a Polish and Jewish Immigrant family
who owned a flourishing manufacturing business. The miller family got hit hard during the Wall
Street Crash of 1929 nearly losing everything. Arther Miller worked hard after he graduated high
school, so he would be able to pay for his collage tuition at the University of Michigan. It was at
Michigan that he wrote his first play, No Villain. This play won him the school s Avery Hopwood
Award and sparked the beginning of his successful career as a playwright. The beginning of Miller
s playwright career came out with a boom with, All My Sons, which debuted on Broadway in

House of Un American Activities Committee for the play allegory with McCarthyism.
McCarthyism is the act of making false accusations without showing the proper evidence. Miller
denied to follow any of the committee s orders. Again in 1957, Brooks Atkinson wrote about
millers stand: He refused to be an informer. He refused to turn his private conscience over to
administration by the state. He has accordingly been found in contempt of Congress. That is the
measure of the man who has written these high minded plays. This ruling was capsized by
Congress two years after the debate started in 1956, so the debate only lasting for an ephemeral

younger son of two Russian scientists who came to Britain in 1914 as refugees, and set up a

had a huge interest in film making. He went to school at Magdalen College of Oxford to read
English and Modern Languages. Brook s first job after graduation was as a writer/director with the
Crown Film Unit. Although theatredirecting was his second career choice, he was soon employed
and early classical productions at the Birmingham Repertory Theatre were followed by Shakespeare
in London and Stratford, (Peter Brook).
Mr. Brook is known for directing theatrical productions, but he didn t start off doing live
entertainment. His first completed project was a movie that he did as an undergraduate student at
Magdalen College Oxford. He made his first film on a budget of ВЈ250, using redundant sets and
some fledgling actors from among his friends and classmates an early indication of his confidence
and his ability to attract casts and funding,(Peter Brook). According to the New York Times, Brook
directed an amateur adaptation of Laurence Sterne s eighteenth century novel A Sentimental
Journey (1943). From that moment on, little did he know that his career in the theatre world would
take off.

  • 2. Personality And Psychodynamic Models Of Personality Over the variation of the project, subject A has been tested over three different models of personality. Each one provided different points to her personality and allowed for the most in depth explanation of the subject s personality. Each of these models are also capable of acting as a check and balance for the other. For example, between the trait and psychodynamic models. One could compare the results from the Big 5 and how that matches to the Myers Briggs since essentially those gave similar feedback. Once those are both taken accounted for, these could give rise to a more accurate basis for the biological model, which is mainly inferred and not factual in the first place. The most prominent trait across the trait and psychodynamic models was the strength of A s introversion. In both of the personality tests taken, this was usually one of the results that was very striking. When she was first introduced to the result of her extraversion during the Big 5 test, only a 17, she was incredibly surprised with the data and slightly appalled. Although she knew that was never the life of the party, she would have hardly categorized herself as introverted. For 2017, the Ford Mustang and the Chevrolet Camaro will share a 10 speed automatic transmission as a result of a collaborative engineering effort between General Motors and the Ford Motor Company. How s that again? In 2013, Detroit s top rivals signed an agreement to jointly develop new 9 and 10 speed automatic transmissions with front and rear wheel drive variants. The collaborative effort means both companies are able to design, engineer, establish, test, corroborate and distribute new transmissions at a faster rate and for a lower cost than they would have on their own. Improved Performance, Better Efficiency The effort has yielded a new 10 speed automatic transmission, one that will find its way into various models over the next few years. That the two competing pony cars will share the same transmission means one less important edge for both manufacturers. Instead, the two companies will have to find other ways to beat each other with such factors as horsepower, steering and handling, and aerodynamics providing key differences. At the same time, buyers of both models will enjoy two important benefits 10 speed transmissions provide better off the line acceleration with a shorter first gear and improved fuel economy with the taller top gears. Review of J.M Barringer, The Temple of Zeus at Olympia, Heroes, and Athletes , 2005, pp. 211 241 I chose to review Judith Barringer s article on the topic of why the sculpture works inside the Temple of Zeus should be looked at as a whole collective ensemble. This is because they would provide insight into how these works were seen and how they were closely related to Olympia and all the activity that occurred there. Judith Barringer also discusses how these sculptures literally acted as positive role models for the Olympic athletes that participated in the Olympic Games at the time. The athletes would then leave their own offerings in front of the statue of Zeus and the hero shrine to Pelops, the Pelopion. The author goes on to discuss how many of the athletes would peer down through colonnades at the Temple of Zeus where they would also catch glimpses of the towering, immense, and an almighty seated Zeus overlaid with gold and ivory in the temples cella. Barringer questions what these athletes would have seen when looking at these massive works. She raises questions regarding what the myths depicted and conveyed back to them and what meaning and purpose did the patrons of the temple intend. The article surges us back to the present day and discusses how the architectural remains of the Temple of Zeus may leave it quite difficult for the imagination to conjure up the likeness of the once massive architectural spectacle. Though the sculptures remain in good condition they still received intense scrutiny from early scholars. Barringer rears a good point on how these scholars would treat these sculptures and pediments as not only separate entities from each other but all together separate from the activities that took place at Olympia. The author states that her point for writing this article is to show that these sculptures should be read as a whole meaningful ensemble coinciding within and with Olympia and the famous Olympic Games by looking not only at the Temple of Zeus itself or ... • 11. Figurative Language In Harry Hume s The Cough By Harry Hume The Cough Harry Hume s short story The Cough uses figurative language to show that the father works as a miner and as a result is getting sick but cannot stop working as his job is the only thing keeping the family afloat. The diction used in this micro story illustrates how the father s job as a miner seeps into every part of their life. The personification of the coughsets out to illustrate the father s illness not as something evil or destructive, but simply as a nuisance. The symbolism of the Orrery demonstrates how the author views their father s sickness as the core of his world, responsible for making their lives function. Hume s is able to show an entire family s state and story in a few paragraphs by using carefully selected words and literary devices to make the reader infer the information rather than say it explicitly. The personification of the cough shows that it is such a constant presence in the family s life that it almost acts as a family member. The description of the cough behaving like a childboth makes the reader view the cough as a member of the author s family and implies that the author does not view the cough as necessarily malignant. However, the cough is a nuisance much like a little kid is a nuisance because it is always hungry and demand[ed] attention. The cough being always hungry makes the reader think of a little kid wanting food rather than a lungdisease that forces the father to constantly cough and the cough demand[ing] attention makes the reader think of a pesky child rather than the constant sounds of the father coughing. These descriptions fit in with the personification of a child and make the reader see the cough as more of a helpless thing that needs to be taken care of rather than insidious and evil. The personification of the cough as a child also acts as if the author sees the cough as a part of the family, both emphasizing its constant presence and the author s almost benign view of the cough. The imagery used in The Cough illustrates the father s life as a miner. The father is first described as walking down Ash Alley, which both makes the reader visualize a gray and dingy alleyway while also drawing from the same imagery of a ... • 12. The Importance Of The Gaia Theory Known as the Gaia Theory aptly named after the Ancient Greek primordial deity Gaia, a primal Mother Earth goddess who birthed all life in existence Lovelock argued that organisms would interact with their inorganic surroundings to form a synergistic self regulating system capable of maintaining and perpetuating the conditions necessary for life. This self regulatory system, named Gaia, results from the close coupling between organisms and their environment to create a Mother Earth that seeks a consistent physical and chemical environment optimal for nurturing life, able to resist change if necessary. For example, consider a thermostat. If a home becomes too warm or cold for comfortable living, a thermostat can be adjusted to regulate the temperature and re establish normal, comfortable heat. In the context of Gaia Theory, rather than seek to restore a pleasant temperature, the Gaia system will correct for alterations in atmospheric composition, global temperatures, ocean salinity, and other variables to re establish an environment suitable for life. Moreover, instead of a simple thermostat that begins the warming or cooling process, the natural, complex relationships between biota (living) and abiota (non living) will sense the chemical and physical shifts away from preferable levels and trigger the necessary corrective actions. The Gaia Theory is, at its simplest level, a collection of negative feedback loops involving living and nonliving components that respond ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The information which pertained to the birthdays of the five gods, as well as the names of the epagomenal days; although in a slightly altered order as Spalinger discussed to a great length, however the topic of plague and disease is still foremost. The Egyptian text declares that the person who knows the names of the epagomenal days will not die of the plague that persists during this time of year also that he will not be possessed by any disease. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The individual performing the ritual demands that the enemies, death being one, must be terminated during this period in time; this text allows a fresh new understanding of the Ancient Egyptian opinion of the days in addition of the year . The Egyptian text may have also been meant to be interpreted as the Egyptians seeing the epagomenal days as a time of purification, meaning that their enemies , disease, plague, and death were to be terminated. The last statement of the former quote, may they save , could be understood to be implying a connection to the epagomenal days of the previous phrase, may their corpses . With the exegesis of purification in mind it could possibly be use to describe other Ancient Egyptian texts, such as the plague of the year which could be seen as some type of celestial plague with the purpose of ridding Egypt of its enemies during the epagomenal period. The Myth of the Heavenly Cow may possibly fit this formula as well, with raging Sekhmet being sent to eradicate mankind when they started to riot against Ra (Re). The Cairo Calendar text provides more support, with several prayers to the gods, all with the common form O (god + title). Will you protect me from any bad/ evil things, from any slaughter of the year with the name of the prayed epagomenal day following. The phrase slaughter of the year could be signifying another yearly plague, therefore by reciting the individual name of the epagomenal days to the appropriate god or goddess, a person is able to protect themselves from harm on that day. In the texts Waste Land (Walker, 2010) by Lucy Walker and Morning Song by Sylvia Plath the poet and director display these issues and mindsets within these two different mediums that arise in the never ending process. The speaker of Morning Song exclaims We stand around blankly as walls when describing her mental composure to the audience. At this point the reader understands that the concept of motherhood is wildly new to the speaker and she has no idea what to do or how to connect herself to the child. The speaker also depicts the child as a new statue (line 4). This comparison is one that shows the audience that the mother sees the child as something mystifying and not human. Consequently, if she cannot view the child as an opposite of these characteristics, then she will fail to recognize her duties as a mother. And if she fails to recognize this, she will also fail to create a stable connection and positive feeling towards her new born child. By taking jobs, illegal immigrants are placing a strain on the unemployment benefits which non working Americans would not have to collect if there were more jobs. Another fact to consider, by taking the money illegal immigrants earn back to their own country, they cause a reduction of secondary profit. This means that money earned will be spent on products outside the United States, thereby decreasing tax profits for the government. One thing is clear, the United States cannot afford this influx of low skilled, low paid people if it wants to remain a welfare state. The U.S. government depends on taxpayers money to support its programs. These programs include welfare, Medicare, Medicaid, and food stamps, as well as law enforcement. With the influx of illegal immigrants into the United States, all of these programs are facing problems. • 20. Women Of The Victorian Era Intro Throughout history, women are casted with the role of being docile, obedient, and fragile by the traditional values of the patriarchy society. In the nineteenth century during the Victorian era, men expect women to maintain the domestic sphere as a cheerful pure haven for them when they return home from work. The cult of true womanhood which was believed by both the Northern and Southern states at the time was based on four main ideas: the sphere of home and the competitive world outside which contrast the female and male nature; the belief that the home is the female s only suitable sphere; women s moral superiority; and the idealization for women to behave as wife and mother. It was expected that the world outside of home belongs to men because of its brutal environment and competitive atmosphere, and women belongs to the moral sanctuary of society called home. There are other influences that furthermore constrict women by spreading ideas of how women should behave. Books and articles written by female and male authors often ask women to be religious, domestic, and womanly to glorify their feminine role and seek fulfillment within their own sphere. However, many women refused to be constrained by male dominance, propriety, and the ideology of feminine virtue that paralyzed many Victorian women. Some expressed their grievances against male authority, stereotypes about women, and their lack of power in political dilemmas by writing. Female authors such as Charlotte ... Vikings are commonly known as barbarians that raid villages and intimidate others with huge ships with dragon heads, and horned helmets. This information is based on facts, but has been distorted and exaggerated over many years and tales. Viking history spans from the years 780 until 1100, which is the time span of the Viking raids. Not every Scandinavian was a Viking; Vikings were known as the men that conducted raids and bloody battles. The old definition of Viking was synonymous with the term pirate. The modern definition is relevant to the Scandinavian medieval culture, to include farming, crafting and trading. The people from the north, Norsemen, lived in villages and on dispersed farms in various regions. The Norwegian Vikings were from Iceland and Ireland. The Danish Vikings were from France and Britain. The Swedish Vikings were from Russia. Regardless of region, Vikings are addressed as one group of people. Written documentation from this era, sagas specify the region of Vikings being recorded. The Vikings government was unlike any other at that time. In fact, there was no emperor, king, or lord. The only sagas found about Viking law were written late in the 10th century in Iceland. Thus, it is intended so that guns will make the civilians feel safe and create fear in the potential criminals. While open carry law states do have a 23% less crime rate than non open carry law states, there hasn t been any data suggesting that open carry law caused the decrease in crime, just that the crime in that specific state is lowered than the other ones (politifacts) . There is, however, information that the presence of a gun does cause trepidation within an individual. When someone is in possession of a gun, they tend to be more aggressive (Lurie, 2015). Also, due to the current occurrences in America, the general public also has instilled a psychological fear when they see guns. It is nationally understood that baseballis for boys and softball is for girls. The girls sport is baseball, but softer. It is meant to be easier and less complicated than baseball. The difference between a baseball and a softball is three inches (Rules of Sport). It is amazing the amount of oppression caused by those three inches. Al Qaeda serves as an umbrella organization that carries out its own terrorist acts as well as a focal point for other extremist groups. Some experts believe that Al Qaeda is an organization in transition. The losses of many of the group s leaders and their base in Afghanistan have disrupted the organization. While Al Qaeda s definitive structure is unknown, experts fear that the organization can continue to operate if they lose senior leaders due to the entrepreneurial spirit in its lower level fighters. Al Qaeda is a network with global reach and is reinforced by its ties to Sunni extremist networks. Until the American led attack, Afghanistan was where Al Qaeda s base of operation, logistics, and training facilities were. Al Qaeda has since branched out and has cells or collaborators found in south Asia, Southeast Asia, the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 49. We Should Invest Our Tax Dollars Essay INTRODUCTION I grew up in South Akron, and graduated from Garfield High school. This high school has meant a lot to the community and the students that attended it. This is not just a building, but an institution that has turned out a lot of great minds and professional athletes. Losing the high school in this district would be devastating. I feel that we should invest our tax dollars in our own city, and worry about the future of our own child, by keeping Akron schools in the community of Akron. Purpose Garfield high along with Kenmore High school have been slotted to be torn down. There are no dates as of yet to when the projects will start. The removal of these two public two public high schools would leave the entire southern portion of Akron and nearby Kenmore without a high school in or near these districts. Problem Building the learning site in Kenmore would cause major busing problems. The city already owns the property of Garfield High school, so why go out and spend money for property, when you have a property already available? Some people may disagree and say Kenmore is an excellent choice property wise, and the land is readily available. I feel that we should invest our tax dollars in our own city, and worry about the future of our own child, by keeping Akron schools in the community of Akron. Scope My proposal for a solution to the problem is to build a new learning center on the site occupied Garfield High school. This would give the southern portion of ... • 50. Gulliver s Travels by Jonathan Swift Society vs. Individuality In the novel Gulliver s Travels by Jonathan Swift, the influence that society has on Gulliver is very detectable in this book. Throughout the novel, Gulliver repeatedly, finds himself in predicaments because societal norms and the role of government in our society. Swift shows how the idea of who people are due to their position in society. Gulliver is an outsider to the society of Lilliput, he tries to fit into their world but fails, not only because of his size but because of their governmental treason. I believe, Swift wrote the story of Liliput to try and illustrate to us the idea that society and government corrupts individuals. This is shown by the relationships between Gulliver and self oriented individuals and society oriented individuals. Swift demonstrates that the government has questionable motives, in the Acts of Conduct that Gulliver has to learn it has in it the description of basically what the King can and cannot do. The first rule they explain is ...the obedience to the king out of terror rather than out of respect . The King shows the fear he instills in his subjects by the phrase, the Princes of the Earth shake their Knees (25). The King also tries to rule the heavens and the Earth, whose Feet press down to the Center, and whose Head strikes against the sun (25). Even though the king is within his rule, the reader will find the King s methods harsh. Swift is implying that for men to have control over their government or ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
