Thomas Hobbes Controversial Beliefs
Thomas Hobbes had one of the most controversial beliefs of any of the philosophers. Some see him as
a cynicist. His policies on human behavior and social customs lead many people to believe that he is a
grumpy man inexperienced with the world. This is not true. It is thought that the troublesome
experiences of his life influenced his work, the English Civil War being one of them. Thomas Hobbes
was a renowned philosopher whose grim predictions on human nature have affected politics even
today.
Hobbes grew up to be a very intelligent man, studied at oxford, and then began to tutor young nobles.
His first student, William Cavendish, died in 1628, leading him to find a new student. Once his new
student had been found,These events caused Hobbes s

Ethanol is a green renewable energy that produces from lignocellulosic materials. In the process, rice

The Washington Redskins Should Change Their Name
The debate about whether or not the Washington Redskins should change their name has been a topic
for a long time. Some Native Americans have often considered the name a racial slur and think that
the league should get rid of the name as it doesn t represent Native Americans in the best way
possible. In 1937 the Redskins moved to Washington and decided to retain the name even though it
had faced backlash then. Since then the team has over time shown more caution on using slogans that
may disrespect Native Americans. Some slogans they did use include On the Warpath, with a cartoon
drawing of an angry Indian, and another called Teepee Talk, featuring a clip art Indian sticking his
head out of a tepee (Shapira, 2016, Para.5). There will always be a debate if the team should get rid of
its name but for right now Washington s football teams name is the Redskins. In Washington they took
a poll asking Native Americans if they were offended by the name Redskins. The poll Showed that
90% of Native Americans did not feel offended by the team name, in fact they thought that it showed
respect to their heritage. But on the other hand when they took a poll across the whole nation people
were a little more disgruntled with the name as 23% of people wanted the name to be changed. The
Post poll also found that 78 percent deemed the Redskins name an issue that is either not too or not at
all important (Keim, 2016,Para.5). The lead plaintiff that is filing for the Redskins to

Video Games Are A Great Thing !
Video Games Are A Great Thing!
Ever since I can remember I have always loved to play video games. My uncle introduced me to this
new vice at the tender age of 3 and I can remember what it was like even then. He had an old school
Nintendo 64 and he was the only boy under a roof with 4 other girls. Whenever I would come over he
would always teach me how to play the games he had and eventually I even surpassed him, which
only fueled my new found love for video games. Back then games were not like they are now, but still
there was something life changing going on. I remember the quirky looking controller and being brand
new to the feeling of the controller vibrating in my hand and having full control of what was going on
in this virtual fantasy land on the TV screen. Almost instantly, I fell in love. Many people will tell you,
life is so much simpler as a kid. Fast forward to 4th grade my mom (who before never really thought
anything of my video game hobby) started to crack down as I got older, and school got tougher. Like
all good moms, she wanted me to focus on school so she would constantly remind me how video
games are a bad thing, and how they make you forget about priorities and such. She would tell me this
all the way up until high school. However, as I got older and learned more both inside and outside of
school, I realized that even though my mom has good points and great intentions, video games are not
only a good thing, they are an essential resource to society today.

Racecars Movies Are Just Not About Racing
Pixar created a virtual world of toys by creating Toy Story and later created a virtual world of cars
through the box office hit Cars. Lightening McQueen is a showstopper for sure but he is not just one
of the main characters or should I say cars that make this an enjoyable movie people both alike and
different would watch countless times. The story line is Lightening McQueen s journey along the way
of winning a Piston Cup. Although all of these movie posters of Pixar s animated movie Cars come
from the same movie, these examples show that publishing companies use various scenes, characters

The road the cars are positioned on is a road that goes through the famous town known as Radiator
Springs. A Grand Canyon like, rustic, red rock desert scenery complete with an almost sun setting sky
finishes off the background.
This particular movie poster will appear interesting to not only racecar fanatics but also adventurous
spirited people, because of the desert like scenery in the back, because clearly a racecar does not
belong in that type of landscape. It also appears appealing to the ones who desire mystery, the ones
who must find out why a famous racecar is hanging out with cars from a run down desert town. Those
movie watchers that seek a movie with a sense of community and friendship involved will be
intrigued by this particular cover because of all the other cars in the back.
Just like the previous movie poster Lightening McQueen is in the same position, in the very center
smiling. He once again is the center of attention or star of the show with the other cars behind him
with slightly lighter paint jobs. The red coloring contrasts nicely once again with the ever present
famous Cars movie logo. Instead of this background being the town of Radiator Springs this particular
poster is posited at a racetrack. The sky is once again just before sunset with a faint yellow beginning
just above the top of the stands with that turns into a bluish purple with a pink in between. The grassy

Advantages And Disadvantages Of Systemic Lupus
Have you ever stopped to think about how your body is protected from various illnesses and
infections? The human body has an amazing network of cells, tissues and organs to do just that. This
network is called the immune system. But what if that very system that was designed to protect your
body attacked healthy cells by mistake? Autoimmune disorders are diseases in which the body s
immune system attacks healthy cells (Curtis 278). One such disease is called Lupus. Systemic lupus
erythematosus (SLE) is a chronic inflammatory autoimmune disorder that affects the connective
tissues resulting in pervasive damage to multiple organs. Striking mostly women of childbearing age,
this profound disease is estimated to affect at least 5 million people worldwide (Lupus Facts and
Statistics). Currently there is no cure for SLE, however, modern sciences have developed numerous
treatments (La Paglia 551 561).
SLE is a chronic disease which can often be disabling (Auerbach and Beckerman 269 278). Lupus
predominantly affects the heart, kidneys, lungs, brain, blood vessels, joints and skin. Symptoms such
as painful joints, sore muscles, cognitive issues, fever, Raynaud s phenomenon, photosensitivity, and
rashes tend to be the most common ( Lupus. , Arthritis 67 68). SLE is characterized by persistent
remissions and exacerbations. Exacerbations tend to be more prominent in the Spring and Summer,
possibly due to an increase in sun exposure. Due to the chronic inflammatory nature

Why We Should Legalize Medicinal Marijuana
Many people have differing views when discussing the legality of medicinal marijuana. Some say the
drug should not be turned over to the public via prescription because it is too harmful. These people,
however, have not considered all the advantageous potential that legalization will aid in the state of
Tennessee. The great state of Tennessee should legalize medicinal marijuana because it is a great
painkiller, it is not addictive like other prescription Pharmaceuticals, and because government
intervention would aid in marijuana s safe distribution to the public. It is hard to imagine the day to
day pain that a cancer patient endures, but one can imagine that any type of relief would be invited
from the victim and their families. These poor individuals suffer throughout the day, and unfortunately
are in so much discomfort that attempting to live an ordinary life is virtually impossible. Providing
people in these conditions with something that will help is almost a no brainer to people looking from
the outside in. This is where marijuana can be an effective substitute for the treatments they are
already taking. On this drug, many of those going through unbearable pain can function, and begin to
appreciate life as they might have before the pain began. For many patients, when given the option,

Lucius Cornelius Sulla Essay
Lucius Cornelius Sulla From a rather humble beginning Lucius Cornelius Sulla rose to become a great
politician and a powerful general in the Roman Republic. As a general, Sulla lead Roman armies to
many victories. As a politician he became a powerful dictator and yet was responsible for bringing
about many reforms. This essay will prove how he was a great dictator, politician and general, through
discussing his background, his military and political career, his dictatorship, and his accomplishments
in his later years. Sulla was born near Rome, into a politically unimportant patrician family in 138

The following year Sulla ran and was elected as praetor, the second highest position in the Roman
republic. After his term of praetor was up, he returned to the battle field. This time it was against
Mithridates, King of Pontus. Sulla did not have a full army with him so he had to recruit soldiers from
Roman allies. His ability to get these soldiers and to push Mithridates back, shows his great military
skills. This campaign was also important because it brought Rome into contact with the powerful
Parthia Empire. He was able to arrange a treaty with Parthia, which was a milestone for Sulla. This
would not be the last time he would meet Mithridates in battle. Soon Sulla and Marius again had to
forget there many differences to defend Rome against Allied Italian forces who had declared war on
Rome. They had set up their own government and were preparing to become an independent nation.
This war was known as the Social War because the Latin name for Roman allies was socii. It was
ended by a more important conflict, the invasion of a Roman province in Asia Minor by Mithridates.
The Romans and the Italians signed a peace treaty in 89 B.C. Soon the main focus for Rome was
Mithridates of Pontus in the east. In 88 B.C. Sulla was elected consul. The Senate also named him
commander of the forces against Mithridates. Marius had wanted this command for himself. After
Sulla left Rome Marius convinced the people s assembly to give him

Short And Long Term Effects Of The Greek Revolution
The Ottoman Turks first ruled over Greece when it captured Constantinople and eventually the rest of
Greece. This put Greece and a variety of other countries in their power. The Greeks wanted liberation
from the Turks from the start and began having unsuccessful rebellions that eventually lead to the
rebellion in the Peloponnese, where the war is said to have really begun. They were inspired by the
successes of the French Revolution and felt responsible for the preservation and development of their
culture. This bonded them together and made them feel nationalism. The Greek War of Independence
was a successful liberal movement that achieved their goals and was revolutionary. Under the

Starting with the short term effects, the first matter to be solved was the land question. After the
Greeks had won, there were plots of land abandoned by the Turks. The Greek government eventually
gave each peasant family and veteran 20 acres of the confiscated land too small for prosperity, but
enough to show that they believed that each Greek could be self sustainable. Next, with one part of the
population of Greeks independent, they needed to figure out what their relationship was with all of the
Greek nation. In response, they made a policy in which all Greeks were unified. Onto the long term
effects, the revolt is a crucial in Ottoman history because it started a wave of rebellions against them
eventually leading to their demise and the creation of new Mediterranean states. The Greek revolution
was in no way the first rebellion against the Ottoman Empire, but it was the first successful one with
foreign involvement. The Ottoman empire was made up of a variety of people of different races and
beliefs. After the Greek success, the remaining people and Greeks in the Ottoman empire were
inspired to make their own stand for independence and many would succeed. Not only was the
revolution important to Ottoman history, but it was obviously important to the Greek s history as well.
When King Otto was on the throne, it was almost as if nothing had changed. He imposed the same
high taxes just as the Ottoman Empire (maybe even higher) and ruled as an absolute monarch. Based
off the revolution, the chance that the Greeks would keep still was close to none. They revolted in
1843 and forced him to sign a new Constitution and instituted a constitutional monarchy. Eventually,
he would prove to be a ruler unfit of Greece and was deposed of. This also inspired more Greeks to be
a part of politics. Besides King Otto, one other problem layed in the failure to create a

Boeing Engineering Strike Case Analysis
Negotiation Efforts: The Boeing Engineering Strike In 2000, the Boeing Company found itself in an
unprecedented crisis. Over 17,000 engineers walked off the job site in a massive strike initiative.
Attempts to end and mitigate the strike provide a backdrop for negotiation process analysis in a
collective bargaining situation. Prior to the engineering strike, Boeing grossly underestimated the
morale and emotions of the company s engineers. The failure to connect with employee concerns cost
the company in both reputation and financial loss. The purpose of this paper is to explore the
negotiation process as it unfolded during the Boeing engineering strike.

Alexander the Great was born to parents King Philip II and Queen Olympia in 356 BCE; he came
from the frontier state of Macedonia to the North of Greece. Alexander took charge of the Companion

The kingship will remain with Judah, until the Messianic promise made to Abraham is finally known

The broader view of this text would be the tribunal obedience of Israel to the royal family. However,
since Christ has come to earth and made known His rightful position, only those who chose to submit
to Him will be obedient (John 15:1 8). Yet, when He returns for the final time in His glory, at that

The fundamental goal of the UNFCCC is to minimise the concentration of greenhouse gases in the
atmosphere to an amount that avoids the threat of anthropogenic interference with the climate system.
As part of this goal the UNFCCC identifies the different economic, social and environmental
requirements of the parties and helps to keep the climate policies on the foundation of justice in
International Law. The Climate change policies also included national development programmes and
are not used as a process for unjustified judgment or restriction of international trade.

Five years after the UNFCCC was entered into force the Kyoto Protocol was signed. The Kyoto

Emma Thurman Light Skinned Women
In society, lighter skinned women were perceived to be significantly more attractive, intelligent, and
successful than darker skinned women (Thompson and Keith). For instance, Emma s mother and
grandmother constantly tell her how much easier life would be if she had been born as a man rather
than a woman. Their reasoning is not only do men with lighter skin complexions desire women with
lighter skin complexions, but also men with darker skin complexions desire women with lighter skin
complexions. The attraction to lighter skinned women by dark skinned men is because lighter skin is
more appealing and classified as part of a higher class. As a result, lighter skinned women tend to have

Alva is a light skinned man with whom Emma falls in love and believes is the right man for her
because of his skin complexion. However, she becomes too self conscious of her own complexion and
worries about it throughout her interactions with Alva. She becomes insecure and accuses Alva for
always taking her places and introducing her to people who ridicule her dark skin color. Each time
Emma questions Alva if he truly loves her, he changes the conversation. Similarly to Emma, Thurman
describes Alva to be too color conscious because he constantly worries about others perceptions of his
interactions with Emma because of her dark skin complexion. Alva purposely avoids taking Emma to
parties or dances because he does not want his friends to see him interacting with a dark skinned girl.
Additionally, Alva has a sexual relationship with a light skinned girl named Geraldine, whom he is not
afraid to take to parties because she has light skin. In fact, Alva only pretended to love Geraldine
because of her skin complexion. Alva s actions highlight the importance of a woman s skin
complexion to a man and how color determines

What make us think that the intention of the country is only to take advantage of foreign labor.
Because of this, a change is necessary so that the regulation is more suited to new world reality, where

The Brazilian immigration policy presents problems like the exaggerated national security idea, the

The Beat Generation Essay
The one thing that we yearn for in our living days, that makes us sigh and groan and undergo sweet

and can only be reproduced (though we hate to admit it) in death. (Kerouac, Jack. On the road. ). This

Generation. Jack Kerouac is one of the most influential writers of the Beat Generation, rivaled only by

Racial disparities in mass incarceration

Mass Incarceration in the United States has been a large topic of choice because rapid growth in the
prison and jail populations, the long sentences the inmates face, and the inability for some inmates to
incorporate themselves back into society. Since the 1970 s the U.S. prison population quadrupled from
158 to 635 people per 100,000, causing the U.S. to gain the title of country with the highest
incarceration rate. (Massoglia, Firebaugh, Warner, 2013, p. 142; Muller, 2012) As the growth of the

Muller s study found that though the number of African American incarceration increased after the
1970 s, one of the causes of the rise that contributed to roughly thirty percent of the African American
incarceration came about long before during the initial migration of many African Americans to the
North between 1880 and 1950. The migration was related to the rise in African American incarceration
in that the African Americans who migrated from the South were migrating from a comparatively low
nonwhite incarceration rate to the comparatively high nonwhite incarceration rate that was in the
North. Though the migration had a direct effect on the increase of incarcerations of the African
American population, it did not cause a rise in the number of white incarcerations, thus causing a rise
in racial disparity in prisons and jails before mass incarceration was established.
An additional study that Muller conducted was related to the number of foreign whites being
incarcerated or joined as a part of a state s police force and their relationship with the African
Americans incarceration rate. Mullers findings suggest that as African American migrants started

Rollingstone recently did a list of what they thought to be the one hundred greatest pop hits. By taking
a few songs from this list it is possible to examine some of these characteristics that make a great
song. One of the most memorable and timeless songs in history would have to be Rolling Stones
Satisfaction. In the Rollinstone article they ranked this song as being the second greatest pop song of
all time right under the Beatles Yesterday. This song is centered on a guitar riff that lead guitarist Keith
Richards almost while sleeping. He woke up with the riff in his mind, recorded it on a tape player, and
then immediately fell back asleep. This guitar riff is the hook of the song, which had immediate appeal
and connection for the listener. The hook and immediate mass appeal were two of the techniques
mentioned earlier as a character of a successful song. The song also touched the emotional chord of
the listener with intense lyrics that made cultural commentary in the sixties the song was destined to
be a hit. It was at number one for four weeks, on the charts for fourteen weeks, and was the song that
propelled the Rolling Stones from a decent band into one of the greatest rock bands of all time. An
example of a song that was successful more because of its lyrical content rather than mostly its
musical aspect is Michael Jackson s Billie Jean. The song was one of Jackson s first attempts at

Women s Rights In The 19th Century Essay
In Great Britain during the nineteenth century, women experienced less rights in many aspects of their
daily lives when compared to twenty first century. Women lived a stricter lifestyle and men decided on
many decisions in a women s life. During the nineteenth century in Europe, women and men had an
expectation to live on opposite spheres of society. Men were familiarized with living a public life,
whether it was working in a factory or socializing with like minded men in public places, like clubs,
meetings, or bars. On the contrary, women had the expectation to live their lives largely at home,
which included cooking, cleaning, and child rearing. Free time for women was not supposed to be

Plant Mitochondri Cytochrome Oxidase And The Cyanide...
Plant mitochondria include two terminal oxidases: cytochrome oxidase and the cyanide insensitive
alternative oxidase. Electron partitioning between the two pathways is regulated by the redox
equilibrium of the ubiquinone pool and the activation state of the alternative oxidase. The alternative
oxidase appears to exist as a dimer, which is active in the reduced, noncovalently linked form, and
inactive when in the oxidized, covalently linked form. Reduction of the oxidase in detached tobacco
mitochondria occurs upon oxidation of isocitrate or malate and may be mediated by matrix NAD(P)H.
The energy of the reduced oxidase is influenced by certain other organic acids, notably pyruvate,
which appear to interact directly with the enzyme. Pyruvate alters the interaction between the
alternative oxidase and ubiquinol so that the oxidase becomes active at much lower levels of ubiquinol
and competes with the cytochrome pathway for electrons. These will be further explored in this piece.
Cyanide resistant respiration was found toward the beginning of the twentieth century as a singularity
in thermogenic plants in the middle of anthesis and was later seen to be a regular highlight of plant
respiration. The think of respiration impenetrable to cyanide is related with the closeness in the
respiratory chain of an supplemental terminal oxidase alternative oxidase (AOX). The closeness of
AOX in higher plant mitochondria propose an intriguing, favorable exchange regarding its title in vivo

Manufactures also depended more on the customer, information technology, and the increase in the
use of technology in all parts of the economy. Companies such as FedEx, UPS, Airborne Express, and
USPS shipped parcels at a faster rate and were more reliable than other rail, motor, and water carriers.
Trends and opportunities of the parcel service industry include globalization, e commerce, and supply
chain management. Internet logistics was FedEx and UPS s fastest growing business. The internet
enabled customers to link directly to retailers and their manufacturers. In 2001, parcel carriers served
almost all of the online market. They were able to provide information on packages to customers
through tracking systems on the web. This allowed customers to plan ahead and decrease delays in
deliveries. It also allowed for faster transactions and lower communication costs. Parcel companies
created partnerships with large Internet retailers. These partnerships allowed parcel service companies
to expand its overall delivery volume. Parcel companies improved tracking by implementing several
technological innovations. These included laser scanners and bar codes, state of the art software
programs, satellite and cell phone communication equipment, electronic information interchanges, and

Should We Love Spartacus
Some people would argue that this new World referred to above looks suspiciously a lot like the old
one, if you look closely enough. As California s post makes clear it is impossible to discuss Spartacus
without bringing politics into it. Those who criticize it seem to be objecting not just to the
choreography but to its subject matter and its putative political outlook. Any implications about the
views or tastes of someone just because they happen to enjoy a work of art (even if accurate and
therefore depressing) are highly problematic though. It would be interesting to know, but should it
really matter to us whether Putin loves Spartacus? Do all people who like a work of art , a person, a
nation, or anything else like it (or him/her) for the same reasons? Would Spartacus love Putin or Hitler

Leadership Coaching: Convergence
Spiritual Life Coaching
When we look at the role of coaching and how it speaks to a person s spiritual life we first must
understand the definition of coaching. Whitmore (2001) quoted Gallwey s definition of coaching as
Coaching is unlocking a person s potential to maximize their own performance. It is helping them to
learn rather than teaching them (p. 8). There are several definitions of coaching that attempts to
pinpoint or identify the various types of coaching. Harkavy (2007) shared what the purpose of a coach

Those with the right attitude will embrace their role as a positive reinforce and they will strive to help
others see themselves as God sees them. The coach will build up, strengthen and encourage the client
with the love of Christ as they provide professional coaching. Crane amp; Patrick (2005), suggested
Coaching requires the very best from all aspects of our humanity. It is not a path for the weak hearted
or for people who are afraid to grow. It is a path for the courageous and for people who are committed
to making a difference in the lives of those they touch through coaching (p. 217). The spiritual aspect
of coaching as it relates to this previous quote is that we must be willing to be like the eagle as shared
in Isaiah 40:3, But those who wait on the Lord Shall renew their strength; They shall mount up with
wings like eagles, They shall run and not be weary, They shall walk and not faint. The effective coach
must be willing to stay in for the long haul, when things are not moving as quickly as you would like.
O Neill shared that there may be times when what you are coaching and what the direction of the
company may lose its clarity or maybe the coachee has lost focus. O Neill (2000), stated, May leaders
try to suppress ambiguity, rather than acknowledge it, even to themselves (p.26). The best way to

United Parcel Service Executive Summary UPS has announced that after more than 90 years as a
private company, it was planning an initial public offering to become a publicly traded company. In
response to this, we will first analyze UPS¡¦s business strategy and it¡¦s sustainability of its current
performance. Then we will look at key factors to estimate the UPS¡¦s market capitalization value using
FedEx¡¦s multiples as well as ¡§best in breed¡¨ company premiums. From this, we concluded that
UPS¡¦s IPO should create a market capitalization for UPS between $17,520 million and $30,415
million. Evaluation UPS is the largest parcel delivery service in the world. They also help their
customers its customers with supply chain ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
If we benchmark UPS relative to best of breed(BOB) industry premium using FedEx as the industrial
comparable, then we come up with an average UPS market capitalization of $ 30,415 million. Using
the 58% average BOB premium for the trailing price to earnings multiple, we come up with UPS
market capitalization of $21,985 million. If we use the 103% average BOB premium for the market to
book multiple, then we come with UPS market capitalization of $38,845 million. UPS doesn¡¦t seem
like it deserves a BOB premium because its only has 15% higher net income than FedEx where the
BOB premium companies average over 200% higher net income than the industrial comparable. But,
since the last year¡¦s net income was negatively affected by the tax court ruling we believe their net
income in 1999 should be looked at without this one time write off against their net income which
would bring their net income more closer to what the BOB premium companies average. Conclusion
We believe the UPS¡¦s actual market capitalization and stock value lies somewhere between $17,520
million and $30,415 million. Although we believe that UPS shouldn¡¦t be fully valued using the BOB
premium because of the uncertain future business and financial prospects, we also don¡¦t think just
using FedEx¡¦s multiples as benchmark for the UPS¡¦s value captures the true market capitalization
value for UPS.

The Washington RedskinsShould Change Their Name The debate about whether or not the Washington Redskins should change their name has been a topic for a long time. Some Native Americans have often considered the name a racial slur and think that the league should get rid of the name as it doesn t represent Native Americans in the best way possible. In 1937 the Redskins moved to Washington and decided to retain the name even though it had faced backlash then. Since then the team has over time shown more caution on using slogans that may disrespect Native Americans. Some slogans they did use include On the Warpath, with a cartoon drawing of an angry Indian, and another called Teepee Talk, featuring a clip art Indian sticking his head out of a tepee (Shapira, 2016, Para.5). There will always be a debate if the team should get rid of its name but for right now Washington s football teams name is the Redskins. In Washington they took a poll asking Native Americans if they were offended by the name Redskins. The poll Showed that 90% of Native Americans did not feel offended by the team name, in fact they thought that it showed respect to their heritage. But on the other hand when they took a poll across the whole nation people were a little more disgruntled with the name as 23% of people wanted the name to be changed. The Post poll also found that 78 percent deemed the Redskins name an issue that is either not too or not at all important (Keim, 2016,Para.5). Video Games AreA Great Thing ! Video Games Are A Great Thing! Ever since I can remember I have always loved to play video games. My uncle introduced me to this new vice at the tender age of 3 and I can remember what it was like even then. He had an old school Nintendo 64 and he was the only boy under a roof with 4 other girls. Whenever I would come over he would always teach me how to play the games he had and eventually I even surpassed him, which only fueled my new found love for video games. Back then games were not like they are now, but still there was something life changing going on. I remember the quirky looking controller and being brand new to the feeling of the controller vibrating in my hand and having full control of what was going on in this virtual fantasy land on the TV screen. Almost instantly, I fell in love. Many people will tell you, life is so much simpler as a kid. Fast forward to 4th grade my mom (who before never really thought anything of my video game hobby) started to crack down as I got older, and school got tougher. Like all good moms, she wanted me to focus on school so she would constantly remind me how video games are a bad thing, and how they make you forget about priorities and such. She would tell me this all the way up until high school. However, as I got older and learned more both inside and outside of school, I realized that even though my mom has good points and great intentions, video games are not only a good thing, they are an essential resource to society today. ... It also appears appealing to the ones who desire mystery, the ones who must find out why a famous racecar is hanging out with cars from a run down desert town. Those movie watchers that seek a movie with a sense of community and friendship involved will be intrigued by this particular cover because of all the other cars in the back. Just like the previous movie poster Lightening McQueen is in the same position, in the very center smiling. He once again is the center of attention or star of the show with the other cars behind him with slightly lighter paint jobs. The red coloring contrasts nicely once again with the ever present famous Cars movie logo. Advantages And DisadvantagesOf Systemic Lupus Have you ever stopped to think about how your body is protected from various illnesses and infections? The human body has an amazing network of cells, tissues and organs to do just that. This network is called the immune system. But what if that very system that was designed to protect your body attacked healthy cells by mistake? Autoimmune disorders are diseases in which the body s immune system attacks healthy cells (Curtis 278). One such disease is called Lupus. Systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) is a chronic inflammatory autoimmune disorder that affects the connective tissues resulting in pervasive damage to multiple organs. Why We ShouldLegalize Medicinal Marijuana Many people have differing views when discussing the legality of medicinal marijuana. Some say the drug should not be turned over to the public via prescription because it is too harmful. These people, however, have not considered all the advantageous potential that legalization will aid in the state of Tennessee. The great state of Tennessee should legalize medicinal marijuana because it is a great painkiller, it is not addictive like other prescription Pharmaceuticals, and because government intervention would aid in marijuana s safe distribution to the public. Lucius Cornelius SullaEssay Lucius Cornelius Sulla From a rather humble beginning Lucius Cornelius Sulla rose to become a great politician and a powerful general in the Roman Republic. As a general, Sulla lead Roman armies to many victories. As a politician he became a powerful dictator and yet was responsible for bringing about many reforms. This essay will prove how he was a great dictator, politician and general, through discussing his background, his military and political career, his dictatorship, and his accomplishments in his later years. The following year Sulla ran and was elected as praetor, the second highest position in the Roman republic. After his term of praetor was up, he returned to the battle field. This time it was against Mithridates, King of Pontus. Sulla did not have a full army with him so he had to recruit soldiers from Roman allies. His ability to get these soldiers and to push Mithridates back, shows his great military skills. This campaign was also important because it brought Rome into contact with the powerful Parthia Empire. He was able to arrange a treaty with Parthia, which was a milestone for Sulla. This would not be the last time he would meet Mithridates in battle. Soon Sulla and Marius again had to forget there many differences to defend Rome against Allied Italian forces who had declared war on Rome. They had set up their own government and were preparing to become an independent nation. This war was known as the Social War because the Latin name for Roman allies was socii. It was ended by a more important conflict, the invasion of a Roman province in Asia Minor by Mithridates. The Romans and the Italians signed a peace treaty in 89 B.C. Soon the main focus for Rome was Mithridates of Pontus in the east. In 88 B.C. Sulla was elected consul. The Senate also named him commander of the forces against Mithridates. Short And LongTerm Effects Of The Greek Revolution The Ottoman Turks first ruled over Greece when it captured Constantinople and eventually the rest of Greece. This put Greece and a variety of other countries in their power. The Greeks wanted liberation from the Turks from the start and began having unsuccessful rebellions that eventually lead to the rebellion in the Peloponnese, where the war is said to have really begun. They were inspired by the successes of the French Revolution and felt responsible for the preservation and development of their culture. This bonded them together and made them feel nationalism. After the Greeks had won, there were plots of land abandoned by the Turks. The Greek government eventually gave each peasant family and veteran 20 acres of the confiscated land too small for prosperity, but enough to show that they believed that each Greek could be self sustainable. Next, with one part of the population of Greeks independent, they needed to figure out what their relationship was with all of the Greek nation. In response, they made a policy in which all Greeks were unified. Onto the long term effects, the revolt is a crucial in Ottoman history because it started a wave of rebellions against them eventually leading to their demise and the creation of new Mediterranean states. The Greek revolution was in no way the first rebellion against the Ottoman Empire, but it was the first successful one with foreign involvement. The Ottoman empire was made up of a variety of people of different races and beliefs. After the Greek success, the remaining people and Greeks in the Ottoman empire were inspired to make their own stand for independence and many would succeed. Not only was the revolution important to Ottoman history, but it was obviously important to the Greek s history as well. When King Otto was on the throne, it was almost as if nothing had changed. He imposed the same high taxes just as the Ottoman Empire (maybe even higher) and ruled as an absolute monarch. Based off the revolution, the chance that the Greeks would keep still was close to none. They revolted in 1843 and forced him to sign a new Constitution and instituted a constitutional monarchy. When I was a manager at a company, I had to administer many policies as they related to my employees. On of these policies was called the Social Media Policy. This policy was meant to protect the company from malicious posts regardless of the intent. To summarize this policy stated that if you in anyway identified yourself as an employee. The fundamental goal of the UNFCCC is to minimise the concentration of greenhouse gases in the atmosphere to an amount that avoids the threat of anthropogenic interference with the climate system. As part of this goal the UNFCCC identifies the different economic, social and environmental requirements of the parties and helps to keep the climate policies on the foundation of justice in International Law. The Climate change policies also included national development programmes and are not used as a process for unjustified judgment or restriction of international trade. Kyoto Protocol Five years after the UNFCCC was entered into force the Kyoto Protocol was signed. The Kyoto Protocol is an international treaty named after the Japanese city in where it was adopted in December 1997. For instance, Emma s mother and grandmother constantly tell her how much easier life would be if she had been born as a man rather than a woman. Their reasoning is not only do men with lighter skin complexions desire women with lighter skin complexions, but also men with darker skin complexions desire women with lighter skin complexions. Each time Emma questions Alva if he truly loves her, he changes the conversation. Similarly to Emma, Thurman describes Alva to be too color conscious because he constantly worries about others perceptions of his interactions with Emma because of her dark skin complexion. Alva purposely avoids taking Emma to parties or dances because he does not want his friends to see him interacting with a dark skinned girl. Additionally, Alva has a sexual relationship with a light skinned girl named Geraldine, whom he is not afraid to take to parties because she has light skin. Since the 1970 s the U.S. prison population quadrupled from 158 to 635 people per 100,000, causing the U.S. to gain the title of country with the highest incarceration rate. (Massoglia, Firebaugh, Warner, 2013, p. 142; Muller, 2012) As the growth of the U.S prison and jail population rapidly increased, so did the growth of the three major contributors to that population African Americans, Hispanics, and whites with African American and ... The migration was related to the rise in African American incarceration in that the African Americans who migrated from the South were migrating from a comparatively low nonwhite incarceration rate to the comparatively high nonwhite incarceration rate that was in the North. Though the migration had a direct effect on the increase of incarcerations of the African American population, it did not cause a rise in the number of white incarcerations, thus causing a rise in racial disparity in prisons and jails before mass incarceration was established. In the Rollinstone article they ranked this song as being the second greatest pop song of all time right under the Beatles Yesterday. This song is centered on a guitar riff that lead guitarist Keith Richards almost while sleeping. He woke up with the riff in his mind, recorded it on a tape player, and then immediately fell back asleep. This guitar riff is the hook of the song, which had immediate appeal and connection for the listener. Women lived a stricter lifestyle and men decided on many decisions in a women s life. During the nineteenth century in Europe, women and men had an expectation to live on opposite spheres of society. Men were familiarized with living a public life, whether it was working in a factory or socializing with like minded men in public places, like clubs, meetings, or bars. Plant Mitochondri CytochromeOxidase And The Cyanide... Plant mitochondria include two terminal oxidases: cytochrome oxidase and the cyanide insensitive alternative oxidase. Electron partitioning between the two pathways is regulated by the redox equilibrium of the ubiquinone pool and the activation state of the alternative oxidase. The alternative oxidase appears to exist as a dimer, which is active in the reduced, noncovalently linked form, and inactive when in the oxidized, covalently linked form. Reduction of the oxidase in detached tobacco mitochondria occurs upon oxidation of isocitrate or malate and may be mediated by matrix NAD(P)H. The energy of the reduced oxidase is influenced by certain other organic acids, notably pyruvate, which appear to interact directly with the enzyme. Pyruvate alters the interaction between the alternative oxidase and ubiquinol so that the oxidase becomes active at much lower levels of ubiquinol and competes with the cytochrome pathway for electrons. These will be further explored in this piece. Cyanide resistant respiration was found toward the beginning of the twentieth century as a singularity in thermogenic plants in the middle of anthesis and was later seen to be a regular highlight of plant respiration. The think of respiration impenetrable to cyanide is related with the closeness in the respiratory chain of an supplemental terminal oxidase alternative oxidase (AOX). The closeness of AOX in higher plant mitochondria propose an intriguing, favorable exchange regarding its title in vivo ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

As California s post makes clear it is impossible to discuss Spartacus without bringing politics into it. Any implications about the views or tastes of someone just because they happen to enjoy a work of art (even if accurate and therefore depressing) are highly problematic though.
